Nice thread :good:
I have already done it myself, but possibly you could include a tutorial of how to unlock bootloaders while retaining DRM functionality? I think a lot of users would find this useful

you cant do that for free can you? also why does DRM matter the main reason it mattered to me was track id but now you can just use the new track id without DRM

Oh right, I wasn't aware that you didn't need it for the new trackid.. Don't you need it for facebook inside?
And I did it for free, but it was ages ago now, there was a tutorial posted somewhere on the web, I tried looking for it after my previous post but can't find it now
I just thought it would be a nice addition but oh well

Tutorial Help
Hello,
I was reading through the tutorial for Unlocking the Bootloader of my Xperia Play R800i, however when I go to connect my phone and hold the search button, my computer makes a connecting noise, however no window pops up asking about drivers. Am I supposed to hold the search button before plugging, or after? The blue LED turns on, however I can't find where the drivers would be.
Thanks for the tutorials

Thanks for this thread. Quite helpful for me.

Screen Capture without ROOT *** DEVs ***

Why cant we have some application to capture mobile screen shot??
We have an option in Home++ launcher!!
Is there any way to bring this into DEVs notice..
You can use MyPhoneExplorer to capture screenshots. This is certainly not a dev related topic.
http://www.adakoda.com/adakoda/android/asm/
Couldn't be any more straightforward, though I think he means taking Screenshots in-app, on the phone.

Common guys all above ways are known, my point is:
Is it not possible to develop an app which can take screen shot (without Root)??
If YES, how to approach DEVs on this??

It is possible but only with android 2.3.3. Google put a API for taking screenshots for it. right now it's not possible for the arc.

You have to root your phone and then have a chance to brick it
Sent from my LT15i using XDA Premium App
it's highly unlikely that you'd brick your phone after rooting.. it's only really a problem if you start flashing custom kernels or boot images.. even flashing a broken ROM won't brick it if your Boot image is untouched.

Just wondering why SE didn't implement that feature right from the start? Almost every other new device has something like "press home + back button to take a Screenshot"

I never said that free unlock/BL unlock will be published. Just mentioned the possibility of either free or paid BL unlock.
However, if you can find and link post where I said that it will be free, I'll happily give rest of 14 unlocks for free
Its XDA not QVC
sell it elsewhere

Newbie bit of help

Hi guys,
I have just bought an atrix, putting customs ROM on isn't that alien to me so i have a little bit experience but I'm a bit confused regarding the atrix.
I have bought it in the UK and its currently locked on orange, things seem geared up for US phones but is it as simple as following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1302423
Ultimately i want to unlock, root and install an ICS rom.
Any tips of things to NOT do would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

and, not to focus on you or anything, but it seems like nobody does any research anymore.
it's like everyone just wants someone to tell them exactly what to do.

Web check for new firmware available

Hi everybody!
I was inspired by this post, so I just put some line together and created this page:
http://scavenger.ch/sonyupdate
What it does is simply check against http://fuas.sonymobile.com and retrieve the latest firmware version for your mobile phone (both C6602 and C6603).
You have to insert your own customization id/number to check if there's a new firmware available for you.
This page can be bookmarked with your own model and custom number.
Tell me if you like it.
not bad
Add a better design and make it more user attractive.
Thanks for this. Much more convenient than having to start my PC up to check.

Really? How long are you spending looking at this? It does the job just fine. No need for prettying it up IMO.
Anyway, how about you code and design a 'better and more user attractive' site?

Looks great, works fine. Doesn't need to look pretty, it does the job.

Thanks, but what's the advantage of this instead of just bookmarking the URL to the XML file with the latest firmware version?

Perhaps, but I didn't know the URL was in that thread, whereas the title of this thread made me read it and use the small tool the OP had created.
Don't worry anyway man, credit was given in the OP and there's plenty of thanks to go around. It's not a competition

I can create the update check URL for Xperia ZL if you provide:
- screenshot of the 'Software info' screen in your service menu.
- first 8 digits of your IMEI number

Of course it does not annoy me
I'm happy that my posts are useful to other people and that it allows them to create things like this.
Thanks also for linking to my original thread.
One suggestion: since your web check only works for Xperia Z (C6602 and C6603) anyway, maybe you can even replace the 'Model' text field by two radio buttons (one for C6602 and one for C6603)
Edit: WOW! That was fast

I need this for each model of Xperia ZL (C6502, C6503, C6506).
