i want to backup my sms/mms/call logs from HD2 on winmo to a Blackberry. is there a backup to PC option i can use to move those from one to another? i read that my backup pro does it but not the sms.
any help is appreciated.. thanks!
PS: i want to put andriod on the HD2 and am also looking for suggestions on a clean rom "upgrade"
Better if you use the PC for backup..you can sync contacts using microsoft outlook or if you want to sync contacts online i guess a 3rd party software "Sugarsync" can be use to sync your contacts

Hi all! I'm thinking of upgrading my Touch to the Touch 3g. I'm not sure though how to go about transferring all my data from the old touch through activesync to the new touch 3g through activesync. I'm sure it is possible, does anyone know how? Help appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!
With ActiveSyc. No problem
What data do you want to transfer..? Files can just be copied over using a pc.. PIMbackup can be helpfull when you want to backup your contacts.. But, when you sync Outlook, u can easily use Outlook to sync contacts the first time. (just mind the sync settings)
If you want to copy over text messages/sms, you will need Yejo.. U should be able to get it done using the trial versionnof yejo/jeyo.
You *could* have found all of this by just using the search on the forum you know..
my.funambol.com
you can use it as backup ,and you cna also keep your phone in sync with outlook thunderbird etc

My contacts are stored in Windows Contact Book(My Documents>Users>MYUSERNAME>Contacts) HTC Sync provided with DHD wouldn't copy them to my phone, so I just installed HTC Sync 2.xx from Legend/Hero and it worked.
It's a good point actually.
If you have your contacts in outlook, then when you install HTC Sync from the phone it will copy all your contact details to the phone automatically.
I learnt that the hard way by syncing with my work computer and having nearly 5000 contacts copied to my phone. I had to yank the power quickly and hard reset before it tried to sync it all to gmail!
Yep here to

OK, I'm a newb to Android so I'm not sure I understand what you're discussing here.
Should I install HTC Sync 3.0 from the HTC website or is there a better way to get it working? The Desire HD isn't (yet?) shown in the list of compatible handsets on the HTC website for that version.
On the included SD-cart there is the program HTC Sync 3.0. You can copy the file to your computer and install it there. Works fine and you can synchronise all the contacts in outlook.

Thank you.
I've imported my contacts already via Google so that bit is OK. Has anybody had success importing the calendar entries onto the Desire HD?
Edit: OK, I had a go and yes: it's synchronised the calendar entries. But only back a month. Is there a way to extend the range so that the whole calendar is synchronised?
Edit 2: I tried something else. I don't think HTC Sync will do what I want. I'm moving from Windows Mobile/Outlook to Google/Android so I figured I really only need a one-time synchronisation. I found that Google has their own sync tool:
http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=98563
It's not compatible with the version of Outlook I'm using (2002) so I found other software called CompanionLink:
http://www.companionlink.com/android/outlook/
They offer a free 14-day trial of their sync software with which I'm uploading my entire Outlook calendar to Google and it's syncing with my phone in front of me. That's all I needed - I don't think I want to sync my Outlook calendar in the future since I won't be using Windows Mobile again. Time will tell if I'm right.
I have an aria i just bought, and i wanted to backup my contacts and sms similar to using pim backup. I did not want to go the google route, right now i have all these email contacts on my phone and i dont want them.
I do not have a data plan so i just want to keep my sms and contacts on my sd or on my pc but dont want to have anything to do with gmail. Just a simple app.
Is there an option for this on android?
Several.I personally use mybackup root for those things.

Not 100% on this, but if you're on a Sense rom cant you use HTC Sync for that stuff? That would sync your contacts to your computer I believe.
I found a program that did my contacts but not sms, but the program posted worked for me
Thanks
Now using cm7
Hello,
I wonder if you know a software which can save PROPERLY contacts on my HD2 android.
I tried mybackup pro and titanium and it was a half success.
For numbers with 5 or 6 different numbers phone, all is not restore.
Moreover, birthdays are not restored.
One question more: do you know a tool for deleting double contacts?
Hope that someone will be able to help me.
Thanks in advance.
See you,
Franky

Hi,
I use Outlook to back up my contacts and calendar.
If you are using a Sense ROM,the best thing is HTC Sync.
Otherwise there is a program called MyPhoneExplorer.
I don't know of anything that will remove double entries, but would be interested in something that does...
Gmail and Yahoo mail will allow you to find duplicates and merge them.

Forget those f****** ONLINE backup services and keep your contacts and data PRIVATE and safe, pls. Thanks.
To backup your contacts the tool MyBackup Pro 2.72 is for me the best backup softwares out there.
I sent you a pm.
Have fun with it

Edit: oh you tried my backup pro alrdy.
I cant understand why it wasnt working for you. absolutly no problems here. it works perfect. Restoring all entries related to my contacts like notes or bitthdays was just simple.

Thanks thanks thanks!
I worked on it this morning.
@Red
Thanks a lot
I've got the last version of mybackup pro, confirm that all is not restore but I use Lotus Notes and sync is not perfect.
@lidc1y5, malybru
Thanks for that.
I use MyPhoneExplorer to sync my HD2 and Lotus Notes.
It's free and working perfect for calendar, but all zones of contacts aren't syncing.
When I first flash my hd2 from WM to android, I write all missing infos on contacts (birthdays...) directly on my HD2.
Now I do not proceed to sync my contacts with Lotus, only calendar by MyPhoneExplorer and everything's fine.
I found the solution by Titanium Pro. Made a backup of Contacts 2.3.4 and [CONTACTS/APPELS] Liste des contacts 2.3.4 and all is restored (all numbers and birthdays)!
Anyway, thanks again.
See you
Franky
if you don't want to use gmail why don't you just export them to your sd card?

No no, Exchange server, is microsoft's "google sync" i never used a windows phone, but i know in windows mobile i was able to backup my contacts to an xml file then used an online converter to convert it to vcd to be restored in android. And in windows mobile i used smschat to backup my inbox. Look in the windows phone store for any type of backup software and get back to me with them and i'll see what sort of conversions i can do.
