partitioned sd card? maybe? - Acer Iconia A500

I was going to upgrade my rom to the new flexreaper rom and i figured i would partiton my sd card... but when i did it seemed to happen a little bit quickly.. so i checked my sd card and all my data was still there (therefore it did not wipe it) which makes me think it was not partitioned.
Also when i hit partition sd card - i picked 1024 for ext size (i have a 16 gb sd) and 0 swap - then partitioning sd card and done appeared almost at the same time which puzzled me...
can anyone tell me if it is actually partitioned or not or is it even worth it to partition a sd card on a tablet?
Thanks.

[Q] SD Card Partition

I just bought 32GB sandisk sd and I tried every known way to create ext partition but every time I got the same, ıt creates an "OTHER" partition.
Please donot suggest these options.
UBUNTU 10.10 (I have dual boot on PC)
Mni Partition tool
Easeus Partition tool
CMW
I guess it is hardware (SD CARD) problem. do you know any sollition
Also I searched in forum, there is no same problem :S
am I only one who has THE problem??!!
no body? :/
Try partitioning your SD card through CWM. Keep in mind that doing this WILL ERASE EVERYTHING ON YOUR SD CARD!!
Go to CWM, choose advanced, partition SD card.
First choices are for EXT partition, choose 1024MB, 0 for Swap.
Once completed, mount usb storage, throw a backup or install your new rom.
I tryed that to but its no longer a problem I just broke it to 4-5 parts
Maybe try GParted, I partitioned my 8GB card with it.
I want that 32 gb card. T-T Sad... xD
Sorry about you having to waste your money on something that didn't work though. ._.
Well a 16 gb card will work.
experiencing the same problem - i have a 32GB card and when partitioned it is read as "OTHER" have no idea why 2GB, 4GB and 8GB will work but 32GB cant be partitioned to a2SD
need help fixing this problem

[Q] SD Card Space

My nook has 7.0.3 encore stable, 4 GB card, and I was wondering if there was a way to increase the SD card space in Android to greater than 39 MB.
On my computer, I did extend the partition, but the extended area shows up as the internal storage, and I need the SD card space for some apps.
thanks
R u running CM7 from eMMC or booting it off uSD?
Do pls indicate clearly
I am booting CM7 off of the uSD card
If so, you should have at least 110MB+ space on "boot", roughly about 1GB for /data and /system and the rest, probably 2GB+ left over, for your own use.
Use a tool such as Minitool Partition Wizard, to extend the 4th partition on your SD card all the way to the max. You should get roughly over 3 GB of space on a 4GB card when running off uSD.
what I'm talking about is the "virtual" SD card that android recognizes. I did extend the fourth partition, but the space for my stuff goes under internal storage. is there a way I can make some of that space go under SD card that android recognizes?
did you ever get an answer or figure this out? I have been searching for 2 days and cannot find info on which partition CM7 thinks is "the phone" for the purpose of installing apps. I get 2-3 on then it says I am out of space.
Yes, when I used a 32 gB card, the internal storgae partition was about one gb, and my SD card partition (inside android) was 28 gb
So I guess it would depend on the sizeof your SD card?
Thanks for this thread guys!!
Minitool partition allowed me to upgrade my 8Gb microSD to at 32Gb microSD.
Now I can REALLY load those PDFs, ebooks, and music onto my Nookcolor's Android C7.

Why my HD2 android won't start with my SD card?

My HTC HD2 works with my Transcend 4 GB microSD card, but it won't android won't boot up with my 8 GB Verbatim microSD card. Do I need to format it or something? Thanks!
Are you sure you have the correct set up ? (Files are copied to their destinations)
Try to format it to FAT32, and try again.
I`have just formated it to FAT32 and still the same problem. What files are you talking about?
PS: Sorry to bother you with "stupid" questions, I am pretty noob in this
I have read that Verbatim SDCards can cause problems in the build; booting or running, SanDisk is your best bet, but you may still be able to get it running,
Im not a dev; just brought SanDisk as a result of this,

It depends on many factors. Which Android Rom do you want flash, does this need Ext 3/4 Partition on the SD Card ? Do you have flashed the right partition size ? Read the installation instructions of Rom you wants to flash, there you mostly find all information.
Are you talking about NAND or SD? If NAND, make sure the ext partition is set up correctly, as this is where a lot of the apps are stored. If SD, then I would assume you know how to install an SD build so it could be a problem with the SD card being incompatible as alex.odell.2011 said.
I've had similar problems sometimes with my SD card; my HD2 wouldn't boot unless I took the card out then put it back in once it was booted. The only thing that I thought might cause it is something CWR related on the SD card, since I had used it in my Hero and Droid 1 as well to flash ROMs to them. It was a class 4 16 GB Sandisk, if that helps at all.

[Q] Android ICS Rom + SD Card

Hello all.
HSPL4>HSPL 2.08
MGLDR
NAND HD2O_WP7_1.26_LEO71_8107_
SD NexusHD2-ICS-CM9-SD_v1.3
RADIO Leo_Radio_2.15.50.14europe.nbh
I started to play around with the sdrom today but when i try to download app/take a photo.
No sdcard is found. Do i need to set up a ext3orext4 on the sd card?? Would the rom just find the ext3orext4 dir?? Whats the best method
You just need to have your SD card partitioned for WP7 and Android. Since the ROM is running off the SD card, I'd assume it should regconize it right away. Try a reboot if you haven't, or mounting SD card in settings if it shows it as being there, but not mounted [ I doubt it, but it's worth looking at].
Its strange, in storage under SD CARD it says 'insert an SD card for mounting'
WHEN, its got to be inserted, as the ROM is running on the SD Card partition. It shows over a 1GB of space in internal storage? Think i will try a fresh install of the Android ROM. WP7 is running fine.

Going to install a cwm partition which matches rom, i think this will fix the issue.

I don't know why you are getting issues with photos and stuff, but your SD ROM is running fine. Android SD cannot mount the SD card as Android is running off the SD card. The 1gb internal storage is the data.img file in the 'Android' folder which is read as your internal storage by Android. I wouldn't mess around with CWM, it won't solve anything for SD Android and may result in you deleting WP7 if I'm not mistaken (but if you already have CWM installed then I am very much mistaken)
Not sure if it helps, but did you set both WP7 and Fat32 partitions as "Primary" when you set up the card? (use minitool partition magic)

[Q] Use the SD card for storage "Android SD"

Hi,
I wonder if someone can help me, I've got WP7.5 install as a NAND installation, with Android 4.0.4 as a SD installation. Both work brilliantly, although I do have some slight problems.
Android won't detect an SD card installed, so I can't use some apps, that require an SD card to be present.
Does anyone know if there is a fix for this, surely I'm not the only person in this position.
Cheers
I'm guessing it's because your SD has been formatted specially by WP, and Android can't read this. Your FAT32 partition is probably too small for anything to be stored in it.
The Fat32 partition is 1.6Gb.
Is it worth making that bigger, or creating another FAT32 partition?
Cheers
Hmm, I'd guess that you wouldn't have any more than 200-300MB free on your SD as read by SD Android then. I don't know how much an SD Android build takes up but the data.img is at least 1GB of that. As for increasing the partiton/creating a new one, I don't actually think that's possible without losing your data is it?
Hi,
Thanks for your help.
I'm not too fussed about losing anything...
Here is what I have just tried without any success.
I have a 8Gb card partitioned like this.
1.*Gb
Primary, FAT32, (Android SD install)
2Gb
Primary, FAT32, (My hope would be that Android would see this as the SD card)
4Gb Other (WP 7 partition)
No luck unfortunately, any ideas?
Cheers
Are you sure you're using an 'unlockable' WP7.x ROM? If so, try formatting the storage card to normal and flash a Android build, see if it utilises the memory card like normal, if it does, then I would say that you're doing something wrong when setting it up.
Just double check each step of a tutorial (example: this one) twice and hopefully you'll only have to flash one more time.
Why do you have 2 fat 32 partitions ?...just use one fat 32 partition..in regular sd android....data image is used as internal memory and fat 32 part as sd card
I believe your second partition is not being recognised...make only one fat 32 partition you don't need two
