Hi there
I bought the T-mobile version of the Universal, previously iu was using a HP4700 and a Nokia 3g phone but just wanted the integrated solution. I am not really interested in the voice capacbilites only the data and messaging side. I was dissapointed to discover that MSN messenger was not included in the T-mobile load , but decided that I would load and pay for the Mobile MSN at £10.99. It would not set up on my existing MSN account and kept giving error 3002 message when i registered on the MS website. There were no error messages on the MDA prop.
In desparation I set up a new Passport account and installed the SW on this with no propblems. But unfortuanetely MS only licence the indiviudal passport to be used with this software and not the MDA machine. So i contaqcted the support guys at MS who have made lots of suggestions and none of these work I still get the Error 3002 on the MS web site everytime I try to register to use my original MSN account. It will not even allow me to pay a second time for this peice of software.
Can anyone help me to get a copy of MSN messenger for the MDA that does not require the crazy MS registration process as I really need the MSN messenger feature and have to leave my MDA pro at home and use the old 3g phone and HP 4715. This obviosly was not the idea behind buying the MDA pro.

I am not sure if your problem is related to mine, but I too wanted to install Pocket MSN on my MDA Pro. However, the activation process failed time and time again with an error message stating that the "e-mail address used to log in" was invalid.
I think Pocket MSN only supports the use of a hotmail-address, instead of a "normal" e-mail address that I use in my MSN/Passport account.
Did you use a "normal" e-mail address as well? If so: Were you able to activate this account on the MSN web site for use with Pocket MSN?
I hope you are wrong
Jorg
Aha i did not use an MSN account but my own account on my company domain for the initial attempts. Then when i created a new passport i just used a MSN account, and it worked . Then i tried to use the passport from my own domain on the mda pro and it did not work. But no where on the MSN site did it say you had to have an MSN account to use it. It just said you needed a passport. DOes any one know if the bundled versio n with the MDA requires an MSN email address? as the posket MSN on the xda ii or the HP4700 i have were fine with my private email passport?
This is a serious pain. Can microsoft really be this crazy? lots of people use passports with their private email address and not an msn one. I really cannot get my head around having to change about 100 or more contacts I regularly communicate with to a new MSN account.
There must ba another way?
Charlie,
Just to avoid too many threads on this topic: In this thread I have a suggestion for an alternative MSN client that works for me (until MS solves this problem)

my situation is different to yours - I am uing the XDA Exec with the provided MSN software - but for what it's worth, I use msn with a 'regular' email-address Passport.
if there is anything useful that we could compare between the MSN on Execs and yours, feel free to ask away!
Just out of curiosity but is there a way to prevent MSM mobile from showing offline contacts?
I find it really annoying.
Also dont seem to be able to group contacts?
TBH I wouldnt pay for this software there are better shareware options ..
according to o2 you dont need a premium account to use the messenger servce
is there any way to get this version of yahoo messenger to work on wm5? i've tried the proxy settings on this page and it didn't work. i don't want to use any other messenger for yahoo. please help
I couldn't get a more recent version to work with the real t-mobile internet so I tend to doubt you're going to get an older version to work with t-zones. You'd probably do better looking into IM+ or iMov which were written this century and support proxy.
I have been searching for a Multi-platform version of Instant messenger for my 8525 in the same vein as Trillian but all the applications I am finding are pay only and some are even subscription based.
Any suggestions on a (possibly) free app?
Multi-IM Mobile App
Great question Brese... I hope the great minds can come up with something that proves useful. I looked into mig33, agile, im+, causerie.... all of which carry an upfront cost or are subscription based. If its going to cost me it better be worth it and those don't really impress.
Cingular 8125
Cingular Standard ROM
ROM Version: 1.34.502.1
ROM Date: 9/21/06
Radio Version: 01.16.00.00
Protocol Version: 32.53.7018.01H
Same here, it's beginning to look like there aren't any good free options
for ICQ you can try QIP - but it is only for ICQ protocol - http://www.jptuning.net/ - this is original Russian version, and also ENG and Czech. it is free, but disconnect randomly, on wm5 or wm6 doesnt matter.
and for Skype you can use original Skype client from www.skype.com
multi IM - you must pay...
iMov
iMov Basic works. I want the feature set of the iMov Enterprise (Change font size, hide offline contacts, etc...) but dont want to pay $20, but I think I am just gonna have to though.
Again, Basic is free. You can connect to ICQ, Yahoo, MSN and AIM. Enterprise adds Google Talk too
You can find it here: http://www.freewareppc.com/communication/imovmessengerbasic.shtml
does anyone know how to get back the AOL IM program after a WM6 upgrade.. i have TNT 5! any help is greatly appreciated!

Agile Messenger

Hey,
I have an ETEN Glofiish M700 on the T-Mobile USA Network. I currently have OZ messenger installed that allows me to use IM for AIM, ICQ, and Yahoo!
I love this because it charges my text messages whenever I do not have wifi connection.
However, I am a big user of WLM/MSN and the current OZ application does not have MSN as a messenger to choose from. I do have the WLM form http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334621 but for this I need wireless connection
Is there any other SMS program that will charge my SMS for sending IM's? Or an updated version of the OZ messenger?
