huawei U8800 or Ideos X5 U8800 - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

hi, i have a question
i got a mobile for gift, on the package it is written huawei U8800 and inside phone also only U8800 is written, is this phone Ideos X5 U8800 or different one, i searched pictures of Ideos X5 U8800 and it is same as my phone, how can i be sure ?
i'm so confused please help

Yeah absolutely it is,but there is four types of Huawei IDEOS X5 :U8800 , U8800H , U8800-51 and pro. It seems your IDEOS X5 is U8800 and you can be sure by checking the back of the phone after removing the battery. However it is Huawei IDEOS X5.

is it going to get official android 4?
and can u tell me the difference between those 4 models ?
thank u

You can update it or install a custom rom see those threads http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576419
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1805162
There is no official ICS yet but U8800pro have an official ICS update
Here the difference http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1376801
And here you can read most important things about IDEOS X5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Huawei_U8800_IDEOS_X5

thank u very much
i have one more favor to ask and i know it is too much, but i'm working and dont have enough time to look all threads, if u could give me the tread needed to root and install best rom, i would be more thankful.

I'm using (z4root v1.3) app to root my 2.2.1 android. This app has tow choice of rooting temporary and permanent I always use the temporary choice because it is safe as I see it.You can try it.
A lot of people said that dzo's Aurora rom is good but I didn't try it yet.
I advise you to read several threads about any thing you want to do with your phone in order not to fall in any trouble.

The VERY FIRST thing that you should do is is to go to settings -> About Phone. What does that say the model number is?
Many people have turned devices into door-stops by not confining ROMs and updates to the specific model number.

Great! You are giving advice to someone without knowing which model he/she has. This is precisely how people turn cell phones into paper weights.

I am facing same problem i bought second U8800 (one si mine a this is for my gf) and my has got Ideos X5 written on back under the battery is Ideos x5 again and it came in white box and it IS normal U8800 (running on dzo´s aurora)
this second one had came in black box it has got Huawei written on back, under the battery is U8800 and on fron page of manual is written U8800 Pro
i didnt checked the settings-about phone (damn i am stupid) and i thought manual says pro it is pro and i updated to official 2.3.5 for pro and now it stucks on IDEOS screen after booting... can someone help? it is U8800 or U8800 pro ? what should i do now?
i just remember that i checked menu if there is FM radio app (u8800 pro should have it) and it wasnt there
i am still able to instal any official rom via pink screen so should i try to instal 2.3.5 for normal u8800 ? advice please i am pretty ****ed up

I would love that.

This is needed, this hardware for 300$ is extremly high value!
This phone really deserves a own section. It is the only phone that has a top rating from Norway's largest website dedicated to mobile phones (amobil.no).
+1 for U8800 section
I also vote for this, I would like to see developers get into porting CM7 to the X5
Same, would be cool
i vote for U8800 too
+1 For Ideos X5!
Would be nice with x5/u8800/titan forum.
Ordered this one toaday and cm7 would be nice!
As said previously this phone is a bargin!
Phone with qualcomm msm 7230, 3,8" wwga screen!
Section for Ideos X5 (U8800) and also CM7 port for X5 please!
Getting one next week and will be needing root and custom roms as i'm so used to my HTC Magic with CM roms all the time!
If there are no 2.3 custom roms for this thing in the next few months i'll be highly disappointed!!
I got the Huawei U8800 last week. I've been googling all day for custom roms, etc.. So far I have gotten Z4Root installed and it seems to work, but now I'm stuck because I can't find a recovery rom for the phone. I want to create a backup rom before trying anything else. Anyone else played around with this phone?
Yes please, a forum would be great.
Got my X5 U8800 on the weekend, this cheap phone is great!
Coming from a HTC Magic i'm really missing the CM Custom ROM though!!!
This phone is quick, good build quality, why are there no clockwork/amonra recovery images yet? Read somewhere this is the same chip as used on the HTC DesireZ
This phone would rock with a custom rom as there are a few mods that need to be done urgently!! Like disabling the 'your internet will cost you money' prompt everytime the wifi stops! (So your 3g doesnt come on when you walk out of the house and you have to manually click the ok button to continue your internet connection!)
Come on, we need a Huawei section to get this phone moving!!
+1
Just picked up my U8800 and would love a custom ROM. I would also be available for testing.
I assume we will be waiting a little bit as this model has not been released in the US yet (mid-2011) and would need the user base to grow.
Yeah We have to wait till its released in US before a forum will be up(atleast what i think) The phone is awesome and I can recommend it for its cheap price and still everything runs really smoth
Figured out how to get rid of the 'Internet traffic' message, but had to resort to non XDA forums! (required a z4root and editing a text file similair to other Huawei models but slightly different name inside the build.prop file)
How much effort does it take to simply create a Huawei forum, come on and give us somewhere to centrally locate all the hints/tips/hacks on XDA
Flash ClockworkMod recovery ideos x5 u8800
when i tap Flash ClockworkMod recovery, my phone is not listed. i wish to go through this process to create a back up as I am happy with the ROM.
Is it ok to continue the install of Flash ClockworkMod recovery using one of the other phone names in the list, if you are only going to use the create back up option?
What other ways are there to boot to recovery, create a backup so you can restore phone to current state rather than to factory settings?
thanks in advance,

Huawei u8800 pro recover

Where to Recover on this model, because the U8800 does not Recover working? Help!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1229326
This does not work on the U8800 Pro to do this on a simple U8800.
Lietuviai kolkas pirmieji su PRO versija D Teks jums dar menesi kita palaukti, kol atsiras ROM'u ar pan.
Siaip siulyciau jum su pro versija gauti firmware JUSU modeliui ikelti i sharngo tinklapi parasyti recoverio autoriui zinute duoti jam firmware kad jis galetu pasiimti reikiamus failus ir galbut padarys jusu modeliui.
Poor Lithuanian's got no support on their PRO devices REMEMBER Dyvas - because of different CPU and so on there is NO Rom available for your devices. So do not flash cause you may brick your phone.

Have you tried copying the stock u8800pro kernel to genokular's recovery image using abootimg, that might work.

I worked a little bit with NForce25 to try and get it to boot but had no luck.
I might get in touch with him again and see if we can get it going. The devices are similar enough that the stock pro kernel actually worked on my phone, and booted fully into android, just the few things that are obviously different didn't work (wifi/bt and sound)

They said that the new beta would be available this week,i think that this one will be very close to the final!!!!!
No changelog or anything, but now there is only 1 step in the update
I have installed. No large changes. Why for other versions U8800 be immediately final version ROM? Why not for first model x5? Where is the problem???!!! If Huawei developers take be CM7 or Oxygen ROM and a little fine-tuned, so have per hour ready official firmware. I do not it.
If someone needs a mirror, i've upload it into rapidshare:

what about volume key wake up function?
Different file size - beta1 345.951kB, beta1 second 345.956kB Still not function haptic feedback, freeze touch screen when mobo player end play file - i lock-unlock screen, then again work. Yet no problem with detection SD card, work properly (tested 3 hours, reboot, power off, remove battery, still OK) Still verry sensitive touch display. That's all for now
P.S. My IMEI is still zero... :-( But all radio OK, GSM,WiFi,BT....
Volume up wake up does not work for me.
no differance at all, but one thing is working.... external card issue, now there is no cd drive option.... working fine...... but still the main problem is there.... MY IMEI=0
IS THERE NOT A SINGLE GOOD HEARTED PERSON WHO CAN HELP THOSE WHO HAVE UNINTENTIONALLY LOST THEIR IMEI... i request developers to help us as there is still a large number of people who own a legal x5 u8800, so the imei problem should not be an issue for them..... PLEASE HELP AND SAVE OUR PRECIOUS MONEY

Your IMEI turned into 0 by updating to this beta 2?
yes, besides that, i dont notice any change
Just finished flashing, phone rebooted 4 or 5 times before I saw the lovely green android... Checked IMEI ok, wi-fi working, sd-card working, haptic feedback working on soft-keys and all keyboards except swype (could be some settings...) More testing tomorrow

[2012-03-02] New update of 2.3 will be released, missing call issue will be fixed

They will fix the missing call issue in the next update of Android 2.3 for U8800 & U8800+. After analysis, they've located that it's the power saving feature (deep sleeping) caused this issue. Many users had already suspected/confirmed the deep sleeping root cause in this thread: Missing calls with official 2.3.5.
Update (probably via OTA) will be released next week. See #5 post of the following topic.

For U8800-51 will also be updated to 2.3?
Seems like Huawei removed the V100R001C00B522G001 download from the huaweidevice.com so something is going on.
Thank you for your comments on the X5 upgrade; please be assured that we are working on a robust upgrade based on your feedback, including WiFi, reception and touchcreen. Please also note that we have now offer a dedicated form on our website for customer enquiries - part of a commitment to strengthening our customer service and support. ZTE Axon 7 = Nubia z17 Lite??

Hello,
I have a quite unusual question..
my phone is being recognised by XDA app as Axon 7, although i have Nubia z17 Lite.
The app displays the model detail as ZTE NX591J
My phone info displays just NX591J
It would be good to confirm it or reject this as im looking for a new ROM for it, but the Nubia support is quite small and there is not much to choose from

Did you have custom rom from Nubia z17 installed? If so, that might be the reason.
On xda app, mine is showing as A2017A even though I have the U version. And, there is no such device exist on xda. This is because I installed custom rom for A2017A. So, I just do a search on Axon 7 and all threads are now properly showing as they should
no, i have factory rom on, thats why i want to change it XD
xda always does this
it happened with my axon 7 and some other device
pay no attention to it and correct the model yourself
dont try to flash a rom that doesnt match your model because of some app
