I think I posted this in the right sub-forum. I had the G1 but got the MyTouch 3g a few days ago. I was looking around on my itunes and I saw an app for the DHD that's on Stargate available as an app to replace the stock dialer on iPhones. I was wondering if there are any apps out there that replicate that app but on Android. I looked on the market but I found nothing and I have searched the forums for both the Magic and Dream, but still to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm posting a link for anyone who doesn't know what the Dial Home Device is. Thanks.

Double Post.
Thread closed. G1 Q&A seems a better place for it.

I've seen a couple ways so far, but I'm not sure how stable or up to date they are. Can someone please point me in a direction where I can find the best way to convert to android?

No problem brotha
I really am confused why that thread isn't stickied in the HD2 Android forum People new to HD2 or Xda just wont know where to look...
This seems fairly complicated, I'm not sure if I can do it I'm too use to programming android lol. Now if only I can find an app for I'M and sms/mms that doesn't cost in texts.

I had a Nexus One before I got my Hd2 so I know Android pretty well and have to say it was a pretty terrible experience compared to Windows Mobile on my Hd2.
Just not worth it really. The frustration trying to get it ported correctly the first time, the lags, the freezes, the battery life problems. In my opinion I would much rather have Windows Mobile anyday on my Hd2 over Android.
If you want a way to send text messages for free you could always sign up for Google Voice. I use it on my Hd2 so I don't have to pay extra for text messaging. I just log into m.google.com/voice and it works perfect
Eh I need something that shows up right there like handcent or chomp. Anyways I am downloading froyoston sense v2.7z and the kernel links and the links for kernel modules cannot be found.
Would any of the matching ones from here work? Is this all I need is the froyostone sen file plus the image kernel and kernel module? Or do I need something else?
Hi,
I've been lurking around for sometime and I finally decided to root and flash my hero. The question is this:
I think I want a Froyo rom but I don't know which one to get. I'm pretty sure I'd like to have APPS2SD and Sprint Nav on it right away(I don't want to install them myself). Or should I get an 2.1 Rom (since some people have been saying that Froyo is slow [still need APPS2SD and Sprint Nav])? any recommendations on which one to get?
Thanks
yea..u hav been around since 2008..SO YOU SHOULD KNOW THE RULES! the fact that when you made this thread you checked the box saying "yes this is a question" knowing this was a question. yet you stil posted this in the wrong section and didnt read the rules apparently. Im sorry for being rude but you have been on the forums for a LONG time and by then you should have atleast seen the sticky in this development section.
Froyo is the way to go...cm6
No problems, I saw the sticky but there are tons of choices and I didn't see any recommendations. Secondly, the post on stickys doesn't say "no question threads". It just said that questions should go in there place. I thought since this is question related to roms it should go here (I apologies of I missunderstood the post). Thirdly, I only had the hero for a few weeks. While the account is old I really have only been here for about a month.
Anyways, I do appreciate that you gave a recommendation.
Thanks

Froyo has native A2SD, but if you want Sprint Navigation, stick with Nfinite's stock ROM.
I'd recommend any of jaybob's builds of cm6. Apps2sd is native to FroYo (no patition needed), flashing gapps will get you a navigator quick (and better than sprint's imo). Get GPS Status from market to maintain gps. If you like sprint's visual voicemail, there's a thread in the apps and themes section I think. Get Dialer One from market if you're used to Sense dialer, or even if you're not, it beats the stock dialer. And always remember, Nandroid is your friend, good luck!
check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775841
and vvm + sprint nav is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=774172
jaybob's builds are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731659
Aosp v7 for ROM. Firerats partition mod. Deced3nce has great kernels. I have over 50 apps installed and have almost 250MB left internal memory. I have Sprint Navigation and Sprint Visual Voice Mail as well as Sprint Football all running with no problems.
I am getting quadrant scores of 460+ and its the most stable setup I've had since I started flashing.
All can be found on here.

I would do CM6.0.0 stable with my theme... but then again I'm biased
@LiquidSolstice - Thanks
@Ezintn -
Thank you as well, I somehow missed CM6 sprint nav post so you get my applause [APPLAUSE]. And also thanks for the app recommendations, I'll look into them. As far as visual voice mail I got myself google voice. I think I'll take your advice and install CM6 and then add the rest...it sounds like the best option.

Well, I'll be damned. I did not know that CM6 could handle Sprint Navigation. Learn something new each day, I guess. End of the day, it really comes down to NFinite's ROMs or aospMOD/CM6.

Not a problem man, let me know if you need anything
On my Vibrant (2.1), when multiple iterations of a contact are linked, you can select in each field where there is conflicting information (i.e. Bob Jones on Facebook, Robert Jones on Google Contacts) which takes precedence in the contact display. On my Nexus S, I have been unable to figure out how to do this.
I'm hoping this is due to my own ignorance and not because the feature has been removed. Can anyone instruct me on the way to set these preferences in Gingerbread? Your help would be most appreciated!
Anyone? No one?
I don't think you can change that on stock android. That was something Samsung added on your vibrant.
Mm. That possibility had occurred to me, but I didn't want to believe it. >.>
Ah, well.
I feel your pain. Click on the entry you want it to appear in the list, and edit, then join it with others.
E.g. you have Robert in your Google contacts and Bob on Facebook. If you want your contact to say Robert, then click on Robert and join it with bob.
If you want it to say Bob, then click on Bob and join it with Robert.
Hope this helps.

Ah, nice. Not as intuitive as the TouchWiz solution, but it works! Thank you kindly, good sir.

I agree. As much as I like stock Android, I must also acknowledge that some of the extensions of the custom ui are quite useful.
I'm glad I could help.

I really hate the new style and want the last version of the old style or any version which allows you to save photos.
Can't you just Google it ? C'mon...

Why does there have to be a sook on every single thread on this site. Can't you just answer the question?
Maybe I did Google it, how do you know?
Wait, let me get my spoon. I'll be back...

If you did Google it (which I doubt) then you need to sharpen those searching skills.
