CWM and usb bug. - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know that there is a bug in cwm that the only way to get into recovery, your Nexus 7 must be plugged into your computer. Has there been a work around or some kind of patch or update? If not is there an alternative? In using TWRP do I still need to be plugged into a computer?
Thanks.

The latest version (6.0.1.0) that I'm using fixes that issue.

works fine with twrp recovery too.

Having the tablet powered off and holding down power and volume down, booting into fast boot and selecting recovery doesn't work on cwm 6.0.1 0 or any recovery because of a bug with the boot loader.
You can select to boot into recovery from rom manager, though.

endless loop when installing cyanogenmod

Hey,
So I installed Cyanogenmod nightlies from rom manager on my nexus 7 and it downloaded and installed fine, but then the device rebooted and has been stuck on a loop of the cyanogenmod splash screen for a hour or two. What did I do wrong and how can it be fixed?
Thanks

Hold down all three buttons and keep holding them. You should be able to get in to fastboot mode.

I think you have unlock the bootloader. I might be wrong, but that’s what I did. I unlocked and rooted my N7. Then I flashed a rom, but I was on 4.1.1 then.

dp you have a adb setup or maybe wugs toolkit? Correct me if im wrong but the old bootloader had a bug when manually going into the recovery vai button holding at power up
if you have adb setup try a adb reboot recovery and see if that gets you into clockworkmod/twrp, report back
so i have a new problem....i can boot the nexus 7 into recovery mode, but none of the volume buttons work to change the choice, and the nexus 7 toolkit doesnt see the device
now the screen is going nuts https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3678314/20121017_190402.jpg

boot loop

My Nexus is stuck in a boot loop.
Trying to load into the ROM will leave me stuck at the Google logo but the unlocked pad(bootloader unlocked). Trying to get into recovery mode will do the same thing. I can temp boot into TWRP using wugs toolkit
I have some very important videos on my Nexus 7 that I would like to recover before flashing the stock ROM
Can anyone tell me the steps to recover when in my position?
Thanks

[Q] Red Triangle nexus 7 32 gig

Hi, I get a red triangle when I try to boot into recovery. It is the green droid with his red triangle. I tried to mess around with it but still couldn't figure it out. Someone please help me out.
Thanks.
H.
Did you use a toolkit to flash twrp recovery? I know that the toolkit has a problem with that. Download GooManager from the play store and get twrp from there.

When the triangle comes, try pressing the power button and then volume up

Fastboot flash twrp. Then after that if you don't like twrp you can use the zip to flash cwm touch from dev section.

Just flash twrp from the app. I think that's what you're asking...

If you can get your device into bootloader mode, use the Nexus7 toolkit to flash your device back to stock using stock ROM 4.1.2, your device will be like new again. Then you can re-root or whatever.

Problem With TWRP Recovery

Sometimes. When I Reboot Into Recovery Mood. To Flash A Rom. The Phone Reboots Then The TWRP Logo Comes On With The Blue Screen. Then It Just Stays There? Doesn't Load Into Recovery. But Sometimes It Does. But It Freeze More On TWPR Logo. And I Have To Bring The Battery Out. Put Back In. And Do It Again Then Goes Into Recovery It Self. Is There Something Wrong With My TWRP Recovery?? Any Ideas

That is a known problem with 2.6.0.0
You need to d/l 2.5.0.2
You can find the link in this forum.
Try this link for using with mobile Odin lite.
http://db.tt/fx5Z70vq
This link can be flashed using your version of TWRP.

EDIT: This seems to have been fixed in 2.6.1.0

Thankz man I appreciate it
So how do I flash this?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
I don't know why there is a difference but I am using 2.6.0.0 and I experienced the freeze a couple of times. Which you only need to hold the power button until it reboots instead of pulling the battery. Since I started using my Extended Power Menu to boot into recovery that way I have not experienced a hang once. So it must be something with trying to cold boot into recovery, which I almost never do now.

Is it possible to recover phone without volume rockers?

Currently my phones volume rockers do not work. I've been running on an old ROM that seems to be slowing down, requiring me to reboot more frequently. I'd really like to update to a newer ROM, but I'm worried if I have any issues I can't force my phone into recovery with the power button + volume down combo.
I am very close to just doing an insurance claim on this though. I have a crack on the bottom right of my phone too. That way I can hop on the T-Mobile Jump program
Adb reboot recovery
will let you get into recovery without using the volume buttons.
There are also several apps that will let you reboot directly to the recovery if your already rooted
Such as quick boot (reboot)

I think I was more worried about if my ROM install didn't go well and it won't boot all together. Before I could still just go into recovery and re-install. If that happens now? adb recovery?
Hmm. Thinking more. As long as a rom boots you are ok. But if you got stuck at a boot loop before you can use adb, you are screwed
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Unfortunately I do not believe there is a way to boot into recovery without the volume buttons unless you are booted into the system. Have you considered restoring to stock and trying for a warranty replacement?
Look above.
