bluetooth headset with google now - Acer Iconia A500

so guys we go the google now working for our a500, but what we really need is to able to start and use google now from bluetooth headset so far ive managed to ause a bluetooth app to start google now when i press the button on the headset, but it still only listens from the tabs microphone,.
the beep and answer both get sent to the bluetooth headset i beleive from the "audio from phone ' music from phone" settings, but i cannot get it to listen from headset,.
it is abit strange because if you use the headset on a phone with s-voice you can activate and speak throught the headset mic as default? how we apply the s-voice settings to google now?
ive sent a message to civato as he's shown some interest in google now for flex-relix really hoping the a500 demi-god can help out with this lol:fingers-crossed:

im assuming from the 84 views since i went to work, are showing just how many people want this feature, lets make it happen. wish i knew more developing myself but i nearly got a brain tumor just setting up eclipse lol

Bluetooth audio for Google Navigation

I found a thread where someone else asked this question but it was a few months ago and they didn't really get a good answer. I just bought a Motorola bluetooth speaker phone because it was on a wicked sale from newegg and I was hoping it would be a better car solution than the little battery operated speaker I picked up. While the bluetooth device seems to work well for calls it doesn't route the turn-by-turn audio from google navigation through it. It also doesn't seem to trigger the google voice search/dial/command app you get when you long press the search button. Is there a fix for any of these problems? Probably my own dumb fault for not researching it first.
Thanks.
I think I have the same speaker you do. Is it the T505? I never tried Google navigation because 1.5 is more stable than 2.1 for me so I switched back. However I have tried Sprint Navigation and it does turn by turn perfectly.
It works over BT but it goes through the A2DP (stereo) profile, not the HSP (headset). From your description of voice search, I'd guess if doesn't support HFP (handsfree). Search Wikipedia for "bluetooth profiles" for more info. Best thing I ever did was to get a bluetooth enabled stereo receiver for my car -- works flawlessly for both streaming audio and handsfree.
Its the Motorola T215. According to the manual it supports handsfree and headset profiles. When I pair it with the phone it appears to use the headset profile. I guess its not a huge issue since the phone still does a pretty good job of picking up voice commands on its own if I long press the search button. And I can hear the navigation cues alright thru the phone speaker. Thought maybe one of the clever coders on this board might come up with an app or a mod to make this work.

[Q] - No Bluetooth Voice Dialling?

Ok, so coming from a Nokia N80, I'm used to holding down the call/answer button on my Jabra BT530 headset, the phone beeps and displays "speak now", i say the contacts name and it dials...
Trying the same thing on my Samsung Galaxy S has no effect???
Supposedly this phone and the BT530 support handsfree profile... so what gives?
I've also tried with a BlueAnt ST3 carkit... and when you push the call button, you just get this funny "bong" noise and nothing happens on the phone...
I went into the BT settings on the phone, and the only profiles it has listed against the BT530 are "phone" and "media"...
Does this mean I have to use the phone to initiate calls? I seriously hope not, as that is now illegal in NZ while driving (which is about the only time I actually use BT) and is liable to land me a $150 fine for using my phone while driving!!!
Unfortunately, its a limitation of Android up to 2.1 Eclair. Voice dialing by bluetooth only works in Android 2.2 Froyo builds which are starting to show up little by little. Until, your phone gets Froyo, you will not be able to dial by bluetooth.
Thanks for the clarification...
I was going mental thinking I had it working when I first got the SGS (ie. before I got "Odin-Flash Happy" ) and that I had "broken it" by using one of the "unofficial" firmwares...
I will be able to sleep tonight
Now I just need a nice stable 2.2 firmware to get leaker
Is this officially listed as a Froyo capability?
I find this seriously limiting, and even dangerous.
What about sending audio to a mono bluetooth headset? Will this be possible with Froyo?
I tried Super BT Mono, but it doesn't seem to work on the Galaxy S.
Thanks!
one tap on the BT headset main button
wait for beep beep
yell out the name (it always gets it wrong)
then it launches the confirmation window
select from (application, contact, phone, crap load of stuff)
then dial...
even though it works... it's not "automatical" enough
it's more like a voice search, than a voice dial

Modus 3500 AD2P Bluetooth and Voice Search in 2.2

Ive noticed something very strange with this headset. When I use the button on my Samsung Modus 3500 to either launch voice dial, redial or to hang up a call, Google Voice Search wont use any microphones on the phone and wont work. If disconnect from bluetooth and reconect it works again.
I tried to use a mono blueant headset and eveything functions the way it should, never a glitch. Im thinking it might have something to do with either the AD2P profile or the voice dialer taking over, honistly I dont know, I just want to know if anyone else has noticed anything like this.
And yes, i understand that Voice Search dosent work thew the headset, but the mic on the phone should ALWAYS activate when Voice Search is used.
Im using Macnut 13 right now, but I have tried this on evey Froyo ive installed including JK2 and JK6. Same results on TWO diffrent vibrants. Right now the workaround is to use the Bow Tie app fromt the market, but I would rather get the stock mic working right and consitant.
To test you headset:
1. Connect you headset to the phone
2. Hold down the button on the headset to redial, or just press it to bring up the dialer
3. Use the button to hang up
4. Try to use Google Voice Search by talking into the handset.
Post results here with your headset model and if it is AD2P capable. This may be a problem unique my model. If its not, then its something that the devs should look at. Chances are its a simple fix somewhere.

Incoming Text Alert on Bluetooth Headset?

This is what I am trying to do.
When I am driving I usually have my phone in my briefcase or center console so it is very easy to miss the alert tones of the SIII.
On my Windows Mobile 7.5 phone (Focus) I would get a voice alert on my bluetooth headset telling me that I have received a text message from ____ and if it should read it.
Does the SIII have similar feature? I will settle on getting some sort of tone alert on my BT Headset so I will know to get to my phone and retrieve my message......something!
I have tried using the driving mode where it will read out all alerts but it only works through the phones speaker even though my bluetooth headset is turned on and connected.
Ideas anyone?
Thanks
Some capable Motorola bluetooth headsets can have that feature w/ a motorola app. I have the Motorola Elite Flip and have the app set to turn on when bluetooth is turned on. I can receive and send text without looking at my phone. And of course same with phone calls.
There are also some 3rd party apps that can do this with any bluetooth i believe. I use to use Vlingo a lot.

I checked out the My Motospeak app and it looks like a very cool app but since I already have way too many BT headsets, I will wait and see is I can do what I want with what I already have.
Since my initial post, I spent some time playing around with my phone and came up with a potential solution using my Jawbone Icon headset and the Samsung S-Voice app/
What I found was that if I will connect my Jawbone Icon to the phone audio ( a2dp) and then turn on the driving mode, all the phone audio output including TTS outputs are send to the Jawbone headset.
The only thing is that I have to remember to turn off the driving mode when I'm not using my BT headset or else all the TTS outputs will come out through the phone's speaker. I wish there is an option to have the driving mode turn off automatically when I disconnect my BT headset or at least restrict it to sending out text messaging TTS only to headsets. I will see if I can live with that limitation.
Thanks again for taking the time to response to my question. :good:

Np. I'm still rockin the OG Epic 4G (sg1). Waiting till aug for my upgrade. So idk anything about the systems guts in the gs3. But i like you need to be completely hands free when driving. So i feel your pain. GL with getting something to work.

I see though find driving mode, but have you tried a app called tasker? You can find it in the play store. It is a paid app but you can set it so when you connect Bluetooth to automatically start driving mode.

Google Now and Bluetooth

I've read a lot of stuff about how to get Google Now to work with Bluetooth. I've installed the Home2 Shortcut, I've installed Bluetooth Launcher, I've enabled bluetooth in Google Now, I've even tried the "Touch Sounds" option thing.
But I cannot get Google Now to pick up audio through bluetooth.
Can anyone please help? It's so aggravating!
Well, I've figured this much out: If I reboot the phone, the sound through my bluetooth headset will be picked up the first time. The next time I try it, it acts like it can't get sound from my headset.
