wake up volume buttom mod - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a wake up volume buttom mod available for this device?

There probably is - but a lot of custom roms (at least most CM10 based ones) have this as a feature. I'm using PA right now and it has it.

[Q] Change Unlock Button from power key to any other Button.

Is there any option to change unlock screen from power button to any other button.I feel by continuous use of power button may damage. Please help?
In cyanogen can wake up with volume keys
CM7 based Roms allow you to set your volume keys to wake your phone. But you'll still have to press the power button if you want to put it back to sleep.
Not sure about other Roms.

Actually you can download "Screen off and lock" app from market and lock the phone using your screen/long press search button...

WidgetLocker (Lockscreen replacement, get it via the market) also supports waking up your device via volume buttons.
A lot of other costum ROM's provide flashable zip's to wake the device up via volume buttons like ARHD. (As someone said, CM7 has this feature integrated)

Thanks for the reply quickly bros and one thing always using power button will damage or no problem for using.
No, it shouldn't, it's made to be extensively used, as long as you treat it with some care, you shouldn't be afraid...

[Q] Volume rocker bug

Hello,
I have this strange problem. When i lock my phone, I put in in my pocket. There i accidentally push volume rocker a few times and when i unlock the phone it lags for about 7-10 seconds then does few vibrations (like it wants to make up for the volume rocker presses) and then everything works fine. It is not a mojor bug but it really annoys me, because the phone lags when you need it the most.
I also tried it in non pocket to confirm that it's true bug and it was true. A couple presses of volume buttons (when phone is locked) is enough to start those lags.
Phone: Huawei U8800 pro
Rom: cyanogenmod 7.2 RC0 geno
i don't use the wolume rocker wake, but every setting that includes haptic feedback is set on.

I had this too with an old MIUI ROM but no one knew what caused it...

[REQ][P31XX] Volume Rocker Wake for Stock ROM

I own several Samsung phones (from Spica to Galaxy S II)
They are all great but trust me, Samsung is quite bad at button quality. Hardware button becomes non responsive after a year of very careful usage. Even my ancient Nokia N95 has been abused for years but luckily all buttons are still working and are on top shape.
To preserve the life of our precious power button, it is a good idea to use the volume rocker instead (volume rocker tends to be very durable at times). I tried to port volume rocker wake but I seemed to be out of luck (its not working)
Any kind devs around here who could port volume rocker wake for stock roms? It might come in handy for many users out here (including me of course)...
Well, I either have good news or bad news...
If you are running Romswell v1.1, then you are in luck....Wake on Volume Mod
If you re NOT running Romswell v1.1...try flashing it
If you find that you want to revert back to "No Wake On Volume", Flash This
These Mods are CWM Flashable!!

Thank you for your concern... I will try to test your mod and post here the results... Thanks again...

[Q] Wake with volume rocker?

I hate making a new thread -- but I haven't been able to get the volume rocker to wake the device.
After looking at various other volume wake mods, I looked and worked with /system/usr/keylayout/keypad_8064.kl but haven't been able to get it to work.
Here's it's contents in case anyone else can figure it out:
Code:
key 114 VOLUME_DOWN WAKE
key 115 VOLUME_UP WAKE
I've tried removing the word WAKE, but that doesn't do anything. Either the key definitions are wrong so WAKE doesn't fire, or that file is ignored altogether.
Anyone have any ideas?
I'm also looking for a solution to this. Appreciated if anyone can help.
Also interested...
The TPU case I use makes the power button pretty stiff, but the volume ones are just fine. This would be very helpful.
Has anybody came up with a volume rocker mod to wake the screen for the Nexus 4?
Most custom roms have this feature to be activated in their settings.
AOKP as well as CyanogenMod.
I'm using xylon which is based off of both cm10 and aokp and it offers this option and it works great.

Any way to take screenshots without installing any apps

How do I take a screenshot with the stock ROM, without installing any apps?
I was using a Samsung Galaxy S3 before switching to Moto X Play.
With the default TouchWiz ROM, you could swipe your palm across the whole screen to take a screenshot.
With custom CyanogenMod based ROMs, you could extend the power button menu to take a screenshot.
Just press and hold volume down and power and wait for about a sec...
Thanks, that works.
It's a bit tricky to get the combination right. Both keys have to pressed simultaneously, otherwise the typically the volume starts getting lowered.
Yes. But you're a pro, right?
