Like the title says hello guys i am new to this part of the forum but old for other sections of it
after reading all the guides i could find i easily "modded" my htc hd2 thanks for all the great guides that are available and also thanks to the devs create a big choice of custom roms for us to make use of.
I have a small question which i cant find a solution to so far i am currently using MAGLDR v1.13 and installed android on nand with the correct partitions needed but i have no idea how to repartition the device so far since i used the zip file available in the guide "how to install CWM Recovery" can anyone pinpoint me to a guide to learn how to repartition my device please?
Nand toolkit is easiest,, choose partition size, click repartition, done.
downloaded the toolkit cannot agree more very easy to use thanks mate
You can also try out those SD-ROMs which you just drop in your SD card & boot via magldr, check out the link below to give you an idea.
i was attracted by the the title of this thread.
Although i no longer have a HD2 since 2 years ago, it was one of my fav phone. Best built quality IMO even when compared to the latest One X which I own.
wish all of you the very best using this beast!!!
Haha thanks mate to be honest i gave my sensation to my girlfriend and kept the HD2 as a daily device i love every aspect of it so far altough it is a downgrade from my previous phone

I'm still really confused. People are telling me to flash a different radio for android... then install Linux drivers or whatever, do I really have to install all this?!!? I thought it was just running Haret.exe and it works...
If anyone has individual guides for these would be great.... I'm really beyond confusion with this.
I basically just wanna dual boot the 2.1 Sense ROM (The best one, with good battery life etc.) and have everything working. If there is a particular guide, or several guides for this and someone could them to me in order I would be so greatful... because I really have no idea what I'm doing.
Also on a T-Mobile UK HD2, if that changes anything.
Just put a build on your SD card download an Android boot loader then run it simple as no need to change radio or anything else

If your really having trouble with it, then usually all I'd say is READ all of the stickies, all the info you could ever want on the subject and brings you to being in the exellent position of knowing almost everything. If not, take this link and call me in the morning
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732380
I do wish i could leave it there, but the OP of that thread has disappeared and isn't supporting the latest developments, but that tells you to download an Android build a ROM and a radio (oh, and a dual boot program). Those are the core components, If you wanna switch builds, you just change your SDcard whenever you do so desire. But you don't get much information on jacking round with the Kernel, this can provide quick upgrades to hardware (such as.... getting the lightsensor working in the future) without changing builds.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=719646
that should give you base knowledge of all things XDAndroid (a few posts down on the second link mind you). Hope this helps

Here is the crash course for you...
* It is the best to learn how to get Android on your phone and test different builds yourself for your taste - so, what makes you happy keep that build I guess.
I have T-Mobile USA HD2 am using FroyoStone Series V1 build and everything works just fine. Auto Killer App puts battery in comparable position with my WinMo and therefore I am using now Android full-time for the past week or so - not a single SOD, freeze, etc. - it simply works just fine.
How to get Android on your HD2? Find compatible build for your UK HD2 version by reading stickies and doing a little bit of homework researching xda forum.
Then once you find the build:
1. Download it... it will be packed into archive most likely (rar, zip, 7z, etc)
2. Froyo builds go usually into one folder "Android" - as packed just copy folder Android into the root of your SD card on your phone.
3. Open it up through File Explorer, start/click CLRCAD.exe - you will see no action and that's fine - this makes sure your sound works fine... then, start/click haret.exe...
4. Leave it to boot - first boot is bit longer but it should boot in less than couple of minutes or something like that (depends on the build).
5. DO WATCH what the lines state - if there is anything like "failed to mount, blah blah" or any other possible failure to load something - come back and start searching for solution on these forums... You should be fine (however, I do not offer any guarantee as any of the build makers).
The rest is pretty easy - run Android, play with it and see if you like it...
Note: To change builds, it is very simple... Just delete Android Folder from SD Card root and you are ready to download and install (copy over) another "Android folder" into the root of the build you have downloaded.
Cheers mate!
Okay, so there isn't need for flashing Radio's etc. then? Literally just running the files?
I can't even download the ROM's, not downloading I'll try again later though.
Most of the rom builders recommend upgrading to the most recent radio. There seem to be fewer issues with SOD, robo voice, etc vs older radios. That said, YMMV so try it out with what you have now. If you have problems try to out newer radios or WinMO roms built to run android. Good luck.

There is a "defenite guide to android" on the forum. I was just like you but followed those steps exactly and now.I'm running android no problem. Just make sure you read up on everything. Its not gonna be as simple as dragging and dropping but it isn't extremely hard.

Also, how do I change my Radio, and can it harm my device if I do?

SIMPLIFIED GUIDE
Hey Guy's,
Just got my HD2 and have been reading in the forum but just want to ask a couple of questions and get some feedback. I've read the newb thread and understand what I need to do as far as radio, HSPL and i've seen CWM recovery. My questions are...
1. Once I install a NAND ROM with HSPL and CWM recovery, is it possible to go back to ALL stock ROM, SPL and whatever recovery the HD2 came with? I think I read to just flash a Official ROM and it will do this?
2. Is CWM the way to go... Does it work like it should with backups and wipes and such?
3. Which ROMs have you guy's found to be the best daily drivers and most stable both Froyo and Gingerbread?
4. Do the NAND ROMs have root already or do I need to root somehow?
Thanks in advance for any help with these questions!
First of all welcome inthe HD2 "world".
To answer your questions:
1/ Yes
2/ I don't use it but it seems to work as it has to.
3/ Noone can answer such a question, it depends of what you want to do with your device. We all use it in a totally different way (except we all give calls).
Most of the devs do a very good job.
So read their thread, what is working, what is not.
Read the community comments (you will see the problems they encounter, the questions they have)
Most important, try some. After a while you will find the one which is suitable for you... and maybe become a flash addict as many of us
4/ all the one I tried where rooted, just read the description of the ROM
PS: carefull of the type of NAND as we no have DAF (without CWM), zip (CWM)... but it will just not flash, I don't think there's a big risk.
Thanks for the quick reply! (Thank You button hit)
That helps alot... And yes, i'll be a flash addict just as I am on all of my phones!
Yes, welcome to HD2. Best phone out with tons of options. I've tested many roms and have to say my current setup is outstanding. Refer to my signature, you will find your phone will run great. You will also be ready for a WinMo 7 flash in the event you care to try it out.
My first thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!
Champagne tonite
LOL...Not a problem!
Thanks goes to you also Devils1stBorn... I will try that ROM out first, it is one that I was looking at. Does it have the black notificatoin bar by chance?
OK... I'm on CleadDroid v1.11 now and it is AWESOME! Thanks again Truc007 and... Devils1stBorn for the ref to that ROM, but the only problem I seem to be having is 5 of my purchased apps and one free app won't install from the market. I keep getting Download Unsuccessful.
Any idea?
Are you on NAND or SD??

I'm on NAND... CleanDroid v1.11
Thanks for the help DH!
I switched to another ROM and all is fine now. I'll wait for an update to CleanDroid and try it again then because it is an awesome ROM. But MDJ's is nice too.
I've read through most of the guides now & to be honest don't understand a lot of them & as well as which my HD2 is (was) UK TMobile & factory unlocked then debranded (after a lot of help on here) by me
I'm not a complete idiot (close to) when it comes to technical things but this is my first HTC phone & I was considering selling it for the Desire HD when I read that the HD2 with the WP7 Android software was every bit as good.
I can see there are two versions one being on an SD card & one using the phones memory. Is there a very simple guide or should I steer clear?
Thanks for your help in advance guys

I also would like to know since i just pick up a HD2 as my backup phone. I would prefer to have android and no windows on this phone.
I'm very familiar with flashing and android since my primary phone is a Vibrant.
sorry for hijacking your thread OP since i see no reason to create another thread asking almost the same question.

No probs matey
I'm new to this too but I understand that you can run Android on your SD card (at least 4gb class 4 Sandisc from what I read - although I opted for 16gb Class 4 MicroSDHC for about £15) if you want to keep Winmo on your phone system.
NAND builds replace your winmo operating system completely.
I read its not a bad idea to keep androis on SD as you can use Winmo to update builds that may have bugs or improvements.
I see today that there's a guy buidling a multi-android boot up so as your phone starts I guess you can choose Winmo or choose from a few android builds, depending on what each build gives you.
Some builds have everything but are slow, some are thin on features but fast.
I'm yet to install one so I can't speak with any knowledge - I'm hoping to do it today using this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881958
Good luck.
Cheers
Thanks for that Darrell, I had read that guide but had been told that installing on the SD cards slowed up the phone so was really after installing on the phones memory
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948
might want to read that if you havent already
Thanks Richy - hadn't seen that one!
I'm thinking of getting an HD2 phone used to install Android too. I'd probably want to run it on the SD so that WM6.5 or WP7 can be run on the NAND.
Where did you read it was slower on the SD ?

Two things if someone can help please though
I've decide on either JDMS or PRJ Build Nands but.............
1. I can't find out how to downgrade from SPL-3.03 or find the relevant files?
2. I've just managed to debrand the phone using HSPL2, will this affect anything or the steps which have to be done?
Thanks guys
Hello guys, iv'e been tossing it up if i should install wp7 or android on my phone and i've decided to go with android. The closest thing i've done like this is hacking a psp. I just want a sd install at the moment. Running the t9193 model i don't want to lose the reception i get with it. is their a good tutorial specifically for this model?
just use the search option of this forum, there's plenty of tut's available, you also might check youtube as there are lots of tutorials there
good luck
Can someone please help me, i've used the search option, google youtube and i am still at a loss here, i honestly can't believe how hard this has been. I've not ever hacked my hd2 or any mobile for that matter. I am unfamiliar with any programs used. To my understanding their are two ways of installing Android on the hd2, sd card method and the nand method. i simply want to install through the sd method so i can try out Android and see if it's worth going Nand. I have had unbelievable bad luck at finding a complete tutorial for a 100% noob at this. If someone could post a link to one or even a place for me to get started and learn what to do would be of great help.
It's easy! Just go to the sub-form "HD2 Android Development" and choose your build! Usually on the first page is a introduction on the build itself, what it can do, what it cant etc etc. Then once you're happy with the one you choose, download it, extract the archive, drag the extracted Android folder to the root of your SD card.(i.e D:\)Then on Windows Mobile, use the file explorer and navigate to the Android Folder. Then Press Clrcad.exe once (nothing will happen but make sure you click it) and then press Haret.exe and it should start booting into Android. Now from here you just have to wait about 10-15 min for Android to make a new Data.img and get everything set up. Any problems from there you're going to have to ask the developer of the build you choose.
Best Rom?
What do you guys think would be the best SD rom for this model or best SD rom in general?
Try installing different ROM's and you will choose yourself, which ROM is the best for you
Do you want a sense Rom or a senseless Rom?
Try it,its so easy to try SD builds and it Wong ARM your phone..

Hi,
I want to change to Android from Windows Mobile 6.5.
I have seen hundreds if not millions of ROMS.
I am looking for a ROM that is reliable, battery efficient and looks good.
I did find these two Roms on xda I liked:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010498
Can anyone tell me what they recommend? And also, is quicker from Nand or SD card?
Many thanks
I can recommend this rom. I use it myself for months. It is fast and stable and has a good battery life. You should go for the nand version using magldr. But do not forget that you will not be able to charge your phone when it is off.

The best advice I can give you is to just go ahead and install an Android ROM to get the wheel rolling. Once your first ROM is flashed it is very easy to switch/update ROMs in no time at all, and you will inevitably be doing this.
The one you linked to is a perfect one to use to switch to Android. MIUI ROMs do look very good and are themeable so there's many options available if you don't like the stock look.
Personally, I use JW MIUI and have had very good battery life.
NAND is much better with regards to performance and battery life.
Good luck and make sure to read and follow the guides closely.

I have already flashed for the first time and changed to a ROM. But I didn't like it so I went back to Win Mo 6.5.
If I have already flashed, how would I change to this ROM?
Stupid Question....
Sorry guys, maybe stupid question.
I read a lot, there must be a install.exe or DAF.exe in the download, is'nt it?
I flashed my HD2 some month ago with "gpc_hd2_gingerbread_v18", there was a DAF exe in!
In the current downloads is no on? For example in "HD2_NDT_GINGER_CM7_BASED_V15.0_MAGLDR.zip"
Thx Minge

new roms dont use daf method. instead you make a proper nand partition(as said in OP's of roms) , then you put rom.zip to sd card, then you flash it using ad recovery in mgldr menu.

If your previous Android flash was using the DAF.exe method the process this time round will be a little different.
Regardless, if you currently have WinMo on you are going to have to flash MAGLDR (Boot loader) and then CWM (Clockwork Mod Recovery). From CWM you are able to flash new Android ROMs as well as backup, restore and many other usefull things.
You should be able to find guides here on XDA on how to do all of the above to your HD2.

It has these files. What's difference between MAGLDR and cLK?
The Clk version is for use with a different bootloader called CLK.
The MAGLDR version is for use with Magldr/CWM combination discussed earlier.
I have always used MAGLDR/CWM so I can't comment on the use of CLK.
