You will have to find where you need to put things in the frameworks yourself
Not exactly the same, but the process is there.. You need to change some things for the Hero versus Magic.. And stay away from anything GSM.. But that should help you out..
Be aware.. With little linux experience. It can be a headache.
Also. I'm not totally sure that's what you are asking for, if you just want to add apk's, etc., check out the guides WIKI on our forum

its easy to push and pull apps with sdk installed and using android commander. theres a start.
I'm on my way home. pm Me and ill teach ya
Im with this guy I want to learn how to add the AOSP dialer to fresh 2.0d. Im assuming I just need to find the right apk's and push them? One for contacts and one for phone.
So nobody has a AOSP contacts.apk that's already been modified to run on DamageControl?? That's all I want!
Hello,
I am currently using Tainted Vanilla. It has the stock lockscreen with a transparent background. How can I change it to a non-transparent background? Thanks.
I would suggest searching before you ask. There are threads about this already. It involves flashing new files and maybe some adb stuff if I remember correctly. Check the themes section or over in the hero cdma section if you're using a sprint based rom. A google search will more than likely turn up multiple threads on multiple forums.

You know, I did alot of searching on google and on this forum and cant find anything that is helpful. I am hoping someone knows how to change the nexus one lockscreen from transparent to non transparent.
I did find one zip with a lockscreen and a background but could not flash it. Anyone have the vanilla or nexusone lockscreen with a nontransparent background?

That one is the same one as the one he's using, it's just a patch to remove the HTC lockscreen. You can even see in the picture on the first post that it's transparent. It seems to work with EE with a background but its those stupid rendered grey blocks and you cant change them. DianeofArcadia found that picture in the system files but it cant seem to be modified to make it a different wallpaper. I asked the devs a few weeks ago and none of them seemed interested in helping figure it out and I dont know enough so if you find something let me know.
I flashed a hero theme over my aloysius rom that have the lockscreen a solid black background. I did read a site that has a method for making a background picture work. It pertains to the hero so I don't know if it would work for your vanilla rom. I just flashed a new rom so I don't have my bookmarks right now but I'll post a link tomorrow afternoon.
I figured google would turn up some results but maybe it's not as popular a topic as I thought. Sorry if I came off like a jerk
i'm also looking for this or a lockscreen that works with tainted that has the all the text removed. ex, carrier, clock, date.
Okay guys, this is what I found. Keep in mind that this is for the hero cdma so I have no idea if it will work for u guys, I haven't tried it myself, just sharing what I found.
Heres the link specifically for the wallpaper:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6221422&postcount=76
Here is the original thread, there are some neat things like removing text:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=665652
Once again, I don't know if this will work for you but it's all I could find. looks like quite an undertaking, if you guys get it to work let me know I haven't had time to play for a couple of weeks.
AFAIK, the Heroc fixes will not work on Eris roms. Don't ask me why, but that's from my experiences.
Thanks for the information rentjr, at least now some might have an understanding of why it is being so hard to change and maybe we can come up with something. ???
thread should be moved to Themes and Apps

yeah, i love the eclair lockscreen. back before root and these mods started coming out, I used lockbot pro to get the eclair lockscreen. lockbot pro will let you put a background though, as an alternative you could try that. I found it a little laggy for my taste but it might be good for others
Found this looking around the forums runs smooth on the bionix 2.2 build...install then reboot for smooth runnings...enjoy.
Might need some minor tweaks but looks clean.

Nice, I'll try this. Downloading now. Thanks for the heads up.
Yea I'm running it now...thinking of some tweaks needed for memory and style on the widgets but other than that running like silk.

Did you have to rename the file to install?
EDIT: nm, didn't read.
Phone icon on launcher does NOT work
I was just gonna say that. Dialer shortcut not working.
I can't log on to FB from the widget. But so far I like it. Looking good.
looks good... Thanks.
wow looks nice i may try this in a few days still thinking about going obsidian so this may be my launcher of choice for the new build
Yea dialer is broken but ill see what I can come up with...at work now ill see what I can fix after I get home and get the kids in bed...haven't had time to look at it too much yet

I tried it yesterday and it was a pretty cool concept. You are right about needing some tweaking though. It would be awesome if this could take the place of Touchwiz in a 2.2 ROM. I might have to get out the good old Rom Chef handbook...
The launcher needs to look different imo, everything else looks good. I like how swiping up brings up the tray that's pretty slick. I'd be happy with the stock TW launcher look to be honest.
has anybody found a work around for the Phone button?
I when into Super Task Manager and I see the Phone.apk, because on the original Thread said to rename it to that in case it didn't work but it is already Phone.apk.
Phone Button is like Froyo launcher2.
You will need to smali it & edit to according.

yes sir.
Just got home and kids refuse to sleep atm...yea a simple rename is all it is calling for a simple rename of the phone.apk should fix the issue I just haven't torn apart the launcher apk yet so I'm unsure of the name if the kids crash out soon I can start the digging...lol...gotta love kids...they are like living with full time drunks....you never know what they are going to do next or where they hid you power supply for the laptop at...

Just digging into it myself - 614,165,225 files in there - any hints where it is in there?
Edit - Are there apps or system files that rely on "Phone.apk"? Will it be easier to change the name that dell looks for rather than changing the name of the apk?
Edit 2 - No luck here...
Been digging threw lines of code in the launcher looking for all the files and apks it calls for might be a day or so before I have this fixed...back to 18 hour days at work do this will have to be spare time project...

Running this now. Phone icon works. All widgets besides music, which gets immediate force close when trying and facebook not login are working. Pretty smooth. Im getting some force close on miuui music player, could be unrelated. Fairly useable on my superfast vibrant, froyo of course : )
p.s. Ill try to dial this in some more.

So, now we have the possibility to have custom ROMs, flasheable with CWM. THere are already two guys who have put effort out there, and maybe they'd want some ideas on what you people would like. What do you consider that should be in your custom ROM of choice?
Myself, I would love a Reboot and Screenshot option in the power off menu.
Maybe a minimalist version of 2.3?
I want the touchpads to be able to contol the system/launcher, like the D-Pad cans.
Great question.
I already have reboot options in the power menu of my ROM. Taking a serious look at the Screenshot option. Not many ROMs appear to have it though, but I'm going to give it a shot.
Landscape mode for the launcher would be awesome. I know you can use a custom launcher, but I really like the one that comes with the phone

there was a guy who edited the HomeAPK and made it 3 screens landscape
you can edit the Home through comp. to make it more
The stock launcher, at least in the last build, does have landscape support
Enviado desde mi R800i usando Tapatalk
USB OTG would be nice, though that would take some work to do since the stock SE kernel for our play do not support it

The one that comes with the phone does have landscape mode.........
1) Auto Brigtness disable
2) Overclock
3) Use the touchpad as a touchscreen emulator (eg swiping on the touchpad is the same as swiping on the screen, great for browsing without touching the screen)
4) Enable the FM radio

+1 for this. The only thing I liked about the Verizon Play is that it's basically running stock gingerbread. Currently, I'm using my custom "hybrid" of r800i rom mixed with r800x launcher/apps. The upside is that I removed all the sony junk and replaced it with stock android apps (dialer, calendar, contacts, etc) while keeping stuff like working touchpad (which failed me in cyanogenmod) and playstation pocket. The downside is that I can't replace the sony lockscreen and statusbar with the stock one. For now, I'm just using widgetlock to emulate it.
If someone can get a working stock gingerbread rom with NOTHING extra (not even hidden SE apps and services), but still have working playstation pocket and touchpads/xperia optimized apps. I will use it.
AndroHero's ROM is certainly in that path.
But really... the stock GB Launcher too? It couldn't be more spartan if it tried...
I took a good run at adding a Screenshot menu item to the power menu but haven't been successful yet. Ends up crashing on boot, unfortunately, so I'm doing something wrong. Not giving up yet though. Decompiling JARs and trying to understand it all is a huge pain in the ass.
I've got reboot options already though along with the ability to overclock and undervolt.
I was looking towards pretty much going as stock Android as possible, but I wasn't sure anyone would want it.
need a 3g and wifi transfer rate in status bar, to make sure all the things running at the background and another app like fpse or psx4droid just for play ,bcz this is xperia play

I can't get reboot in power menu working. Well i can get it to work, but then the power off option reboots the device too
There's also the issue with Recovery just rebooting and not directly starting recovery yet. I'll take a look at what Power off is doing on mine as well.
Power Off seems to work fine for me. Are you maybe running it with the USB cable plugged in?

About the 10 finger touch screen. what would you use it for? i've always wondered this lol.
Ok peeps, here is another great rom for you to play with.
For those who dont know what the Android Open Kang Project is:
http://aokp.co/
This rom strives to utilize the best hacks and mods of all roms and put them into one great build.
It was built by me, but it is coded by a wonderful crew of smart people and it performs quite well.
It features many nice addons:
* customized lockscreen with color changing for the text and a nice weather widget plus more
* customize navigation bar, Navbar hiding for NBA JAm and other phone Ui games and apps
* color theming for the navbar, along with the ability to add navbar buttons which you can set to do what you want
Basically, tons of stuff. I recommend flashing and going to settings>Rom Control and just spending about thirty minutes seeing all the things you can do.
On my end, I have tried to remove what we dont need for some extra RAM. I changed up the teamdrh device overlays to suit this ROM. modified build.prop for gameloft compatibility, applied Nobe's fixes for hdmi audio and gaming audio. Various other things to get it working well.......
This is still a work in progress!!!!
Many thanks to teamdrh for the "OEM device support"
Many thanks to Fosser for his kernel
Many thanks to the AOKP crew for such a great ROM
****INSTALL INFO*******
1. Use teamdrh nvflash for Jellybean - the 350meg prep
2. Wipe data/ factory reset
3. connect to PC, copy rom, and Flash away
ENJOY!
Known Issues:
Stock launcher has shortcut issues, YOU WILL NEED A DIFFERENT ONE. I left it alone so you guys could just use what you want. I recommend Nova Launcher, this is the one AOKP uses on official builds, but again, I left it alone so you could decide, but you will not be disappointed with Nova.
AOKP has their own wallpapaers, the app would not retrieve them though, still looking into this
Internal Camera, of course, NOT YET!
Others? please....you tell me. I dont have a dock, and I dont do many of the things that others do, so there may be issues that I have not yet uncovered. I dont care about logcats or whatever, just post what dont work if you find something. THANKS!
YOU MUST GO THANK ANY MEMBER OF THE AOKP CREW, AS WELL AS TEAMDRH. THEY MAKE THIS POSSIBLE.

Yeah I tested this for a couple of days, and threw it up for you guys to play with it. Im sure it has bugs that I didnt find, but I have been knee deep in trying to get 4.2 to boot and I dont have this rom loaded, but I will reload when I get a chance and throw some screenshots up for you.
I will say, though, this is the most user customizeable rom yet.

Swagpaper.apk doesn't work because there isn't any paper in it and also it might not match the SystemUI or Framework-res to open up. Going to pull some apktool skills on this and see what I can come up with.

Hi! Thanks for the rom !
I was testing. I can't overclock. With Settings or System Tuner I can't change the frequency over 1Ghz... The slider won't go across 1ghz. Weird
My fault, just needed to make the gesture right. Running on 1.2 ghz!

Upload them to drop box in your public folder. Copy the link and instead of add link in the advance you are going to add image. You have to use drop box and not dev host. It doesn't work right for some reason.

I am testing this right now. That way: the boot.img from Tjohnson's inside that zip (this aokp) and flashed... With antutu, there is more score on tjohnson's rom (I could get 8K). I have tryed Nobe's rom. Didn't boot. Even the boot animation won't showed.
Well, I am addicted on benchmark...

Okay, I've found how to add more buttons, which does squeeze them together. However, I only want three buttons (back, home, recent apps) and squeezed together on the lower left. Is there a way to do that? If I make the other buttons empty, there are still icons showing that there are buttons there, just that pressing them won't do anything.
All settings for this are in settings>ROM control>navigation bar
At the bottom where it says "combined bar width port" or "land" you move slider left or right and the buttons will move, you most likely want 5 percent, do both but "land" is landscape. If you just want three buttons then just choose 3 under "Nav button quantity". And if you want more, up to 7 then in the settings just underneath the quantity you must choose what the buttons do for a short press and a long press if you want. You can change the icons too.
I'm actually liking this ROM the most so far out of the Jelly Bean ROMs. It's pretty lean. It performs well. There are a lot of options. And every app I've tried on it has worked.
Here is something weird. I flashed this ROM on my wife's tablet and everything works with it. So I decided to flash it on my tablet and some apps, like Dictionary.com, aren't compatible. Any ideas why this would be?
