Where is my storage? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I noticed today that I have less free space than I believe I should.
I see 4 GB left, but the top graph/bar displays much more.
I turned off and on, and now I see 10 GB free.
Any idea what is the issue?
Attached screenshot.
Thanks!

Check out app called DiskUsage. You can see everything and also delete from it. Sorted me out!

Files on sdcard take up double the space

Files appear to take up twice the amount of space they ought to be. I have 13 GB free space, it shows less than half used, yet only 4.4 GB left?

You got any backups?

The storage utility on the N7 only reads data correctly from the default directories. I'll bet you created some new directory/directories on the root of your storage and have files in there, right?

Nexus 7 mobile data icon

Hey everyone
Just wondering why my mobile data app would be running on my nexus 7 32 GB Wi-Fi model. Is there an app that is causing it to turn on?
Please help me understand
Tia

Do you mean mobile data, or Wi-Fi?

Mobile data. It has a phone as an icon

Where are you seeing this icon? The mobile data notification is not a phone icon. A screenshot would help.
Here is a screen ****

It looks to me like your screen shot is of the 'All' apps, not 'Running' apps. Or is this a list from a Task Killer (boo!)? If it is not using memory or cpu it is not running, so there is no need to worry about it. It is probably in the os because there are 3g versions of the N7.

Google magazines

Where are the mags stored ? Anyway if they are accessible can you take the photos out ?

You can download the content and store it locally. While in the viewer you have the choice to see the magazine as it was printed or in a text-only version. You can switch back and forth easily while reading.
I have already downloaded 3 mags offline ,my question was where are they stored ? The google mag folder only has one file

They are probably downloaded to a folder within the app and in a format that is unreadable by any other app. They could also be hidden to prevent you from sharing them with others.
When I want a picture from a magazine, I simply go into the magazine & then screen shot it. Easy peasy.
One thing I have noticed they are huge files, I don't think you can access them anywhere within the tablet

The screen capture works fine if not a little fiderly

Screen shot is probably your only option as you are dealing with copyrighted content that the publisher likely wants to prevent people from using as they please.
BTW, if that's you in your avatar you are smoking hot. Just sayin'.

Storage is full

I have cm10.1 on my nexus 4. I suddenly got a message telling me my storage is full. I am really confused because android tells me it is full but I got a storage analyzer app that tells me I only used 6gb(this is about what I think I used). Can someone please help me.
I couldn't get the screenshots to upload here so that is why I have the links below.
Thanks in advance.

Do you have any Nandroid backups on your phone? They don't show up in that storage tab in settings. They are also pretty big files.

I hadn't noticed that thanks.

Or maybe it's the 3g connection.
You have a corrupted media file somewhere in your storage. Find it and delete it.

I only opened the 3g for the Xda app..do you think it might be because i left real racing 3 on the background? If its a corrupted file hire do i find it?
