it already has HD voice - just that it is network dependent!

Yeah I had HD Voice enabled with Telstra but since I flashed the stock LG8 ROM, the feature is disabled. Only currently works with Telstra's ROM and the stock XSA (unbranded aus) ROM. Call quality is superb when your speaking to someone else with HD Voice enabled.
Hopefully this means we can enable it with future stock UK firmware as well.

Its basically a higher bandwidth audio codec that makes the calls sound much more clearer.

hd voice works for me on LG8
-flash back to your stock rom
-root your phone
-with root explorer, extract your carrier CSC folder and the SWConfiguration file to your extSDcard
-flash back to LG8
-root your phone
-copy the CSC folder(***) and the SWConfiguration file to where it should be
-open dialer
-use code *#272*YOURIMEI# to change your CSC (it will factory reset your phone)
-when phone will reboot, you will have HD voice working!
(***) if you do not want bloatware from your carrier, just remove the apk from this folder
Use this myself and I now have HD voice working with LG8

Wish i had known how to do this, had made a few posts on various forums and no-one had a clue what i was on about apart from one poster on here who i couldnt pm. I was on stock Three firmware and when i flashed to latest UK unbranded, the HD voice feature was removed.
I contacted Samsung who said they would open a case for me but the advisor i spoke to asked me what HD Voice was and as soon as i mentioned WB-AMR he didnt have a clue. Needless to say i wont hold out much hope. It should be automatically set to on and it isnt which is a big bugbear of mines.

I have it on the mine in the UK on T Mobile. haven't checked my latest firmware though

Hi,
I tried this but the change does not take place.
I'm using the Custom Omega Rom - latest build - but it will not let me change/update the CSC.
When I replace the files and do the *#272 thing - there are no other CSC's listed.
I then test to see if WB-AMR is enables and its not...
What am I doing wrong, have reverted back to stock rom for time being...
Is it possible to use another CSC file with the OMEGA rom? I tried flashing the CSC file via odin and still wont work.
Please help

Are you sure that your carrier support WB-AMR?
Some CSC are a little bit tricky...
Post a link to what you have extracted from your stock carrier rom (CSC folder + SWconfiguration file) and I will try to find what could be done to make it work...

SO it is a "straight" CSC and this is why the *#272* thing does not work
try that:
-make a backup of your app and data
-erase all files in your CSC folder on your phone
-put the files extracted from your CSC carrier rom in this empty CSC folder
-put SW_configuration to /system folder on your phone
-restart in recovery
-make a factory reset (will erase your data and app so that is why I ask you to make a backup) from recovery
-restart your phone
WARNING: I know nothing about omega rom (I am still on full stock...) so no guarantee that it will work. there is a risk that you will have to reflash your rom if it does not work properly but there is no risk to brick your phone

Glad that it works for you.
Only drawback: you will have to do this each time you flash a new rom that change the CSC...

Why the heck isnt HD Voice enabled by default? I know not all networks support it but surely even if it was on then the network that doesnt support it just wouldnt be able to use it. Madness.

Russian firmware?
Thanks, even though I have quite a number of firmwares already, it looks like the kernel from this firmware is the piece of the puzzle I was missing to make a proper kernel hack (like CF-Root). Let's hope I'm right!
Cheers!

Looks like it, and here's an interesting note from the changelog for the system/PDA image:
" Release for CIS. ( Base : XWKDD, same CL),
different : Remove Readers Hub, Music Hub, Social Hub (premium -> Basic)"
Coming from HTC phones, I don't understand why ODIN or KIES are still used. It really looks like something from the past... Can't we just flash update.zip files through recovery like normal android phones or in the worst case, flash .zip files through hboot?
I really hope that Paul or someone else will port CWR to this phone. *fingers crossed*
I personally really like Odin
Much prefer it to copying the zip file onto the phone, and then booting into recovery

The Galaxy series can also flash update.zip like any other Android device, but the zips require signing by Samsung to be flashable by default. So recovery has to modded first, and to do that you need to flash a custom kernel, and to do that, you need ODIN.
Besides, though I like update.zips for small patches, why people prefer them for full firmwares is still beyond me. ODIN is much faster method for flashing than first having to copy to SD card, then flash.
As for KIES, KIES automatically downloads and flashes the latest official firmware for you (using the same protocol that ODIN uses). I don't like KIES at all, but for the "normal" non-XDA-type-person-user it's great.
Also keep in mind that ODIN is an engineering tool... it was never meant to end up in consumer hands.

so does this mean Russia is not getting Samsung Hubs?? Then how come Eldar's phone had them? just because it was a review phone?

On my Desire it's faster for me because I download ROMs direct to the SD card in my phone over WiFi. No copying, no PC, no messing about required. I just tell ROM Manager where the ROM is and job done.

Its really easy to put together CWM zip files when developing a ROM. You're most likely in adb pushing and pulling files anyway.. another zip (when developing) is nothing.
CWM also allows you the flexibility to flash without wiping specific partitions.
As stated earlier, you also need a PC to use Odin. A PC running Windows. Some people have Macs, and it is definitely useful when you don't have a PC in front of you, but you can still download a ROM, back up your current data, wipe your phone and flash a completely different ROM - and back - all without a PC, USB cable, Windows, drivers, and the phone button in Odin.

[REF] Manually change "sales code" (CSC selection) when multi-CSC won't allow you to

[REF] Manually change "sales code" (CSC selection) when multi-CSC won't allow you to
I've recently been getting annoyed with how, whenever I updated a firmware, on first boot the phone would still look for an invalid CSC code, which I had "removed" from the phone.
For example, none of the XEU CSCs currently available will allow you to change to / from XEU as those CSCs don't include other options. ... so if you've manually set your CSC to XEE using the *#272*IMEI# trick; there's no way to get back to XEU.
The solution is as follows: (yes, you need root)
1) Ensure the product code in your nvram.bin file is set how you want it, in this case XEU. (it's in the file twice, once on it's own and once at the end of the "I9100LKA" string. Both those should be at the end of line 215 of the file)
2) (and this is the new bit) - there's another file on the phone which stores the "Sales Code" - its the file that tells the phone what CSC to look for on first boot after flashing a firmware. This file doesn't change unless you can successfully use the *#272*IMEI# trick!
2a) Using a file browser that has root privileges, navigate to /efs/imei/ then look for the file "mps_code.dat"
2b) Open this file as a text document (making sure you're mounted R/W) and edit the string to whatever you want (in this case XEU). Note, you should only put in the 3 letter code, not the rest of the product code.
2c) Save the file and reboot the phone. Hey presto you're on a different CSC!
(and I *think* this trick works to change CSC (without actually installing one, obviously), without wiping the /data partition.
wow great work
ok maybe it's just me but I cannot locate the nvram.bin file anywhere????
I'm on ke7 cf rooted and using script manager to browse system, could u direct me pls as I am running around in circles here.

My method on SGS1 was to use custom rom from rom kitchen open that and just change the required CSC folder and files with new folder and files zip back up and install .
Does not work yet on SGS 2 due to being unable to rezip and install custom roms .
Work around has just been to copy the relevant \CSC folder and two CSC files + SW conf file to phone deleting originals . Files have been ripped from original firmware nandroid backup .
Factory reset and all changed .

No, because there is no "nvram.bin" inside the latest (-> KE2, KE7, KF1) stock firmwares!
And changing only "mps_code.dat" won't do the trick as this will only create a new "nv_data.bin" after next reboot.
And if you would delete this new "nv_data.bin" (hoping that the files will be recreated/replaced at next reboot, this worked with SGS like this) you will end up with NO ProductCode and an fake IMEI too! So you should be VERY careful modding anything inside of /efs!
I edited the nv data.bin as well from KOR to BTU is this not a wise thing to do on GS3?

Solution to Change sales code
How to change CSC sales code on Samsung Galaxy S2?
1.Just type *#272*Device IMEI# at Phone dial pad.
2.Select the CSC that you want.
3.Click Install.
4.Phone will be rebooted by itself.
5.That’s all.

Changing radio!

Ok.... I've seen a lot of users in many forums that want change the radio...
See HERE!!!! For european with Argentinian radio!!!

I've changed the radio on droid pro... (american)
But I didn't remember how!!
Edit...
Yes I know....! With rsdlite... Ok rsdlite can rewrite the radio. Sbf_flash no...
The American users know this thing, but for European it is a good news, because they can flash an american/argentinian sbf without changing radio.... Naturally with sbf_flash...
Flashing american on european with rsdlite will brick your phone, without changing the radio...
European on American with rsdlite will brick your phone, without changing your radio...
But if you'll use sbf flash, your phone will be glad!
You must see only if you have a locked kernel... (argentinian 2.3.6 I'm sure... for american 2.3.4, I don't know...)
Attention!!!
Argentinian gsm is 800/2100
European gsm is 900/1200
So we can understand the european's issues with argentinian rom....
I'm always sure that we must search the radio in the sbf! Not files...
I've done some steps here, only for trying...
1) Put your phone in bootloader mode
2) Start with Linux Knoppix live cd
3) Open terminal emulator from your folder where you have your sbf (i've used 2.26.20 verizon SBF..))
4) put also sbf_flash in the same folder ( you can find here:http://blog.opticaldelusion.org/search/label/sbf_flash )
chmod +x sbf_flash
then
sudo ./sbf_flash -r --bpsw 2260.sbf
Connect your phone...
Reboot and now you'll have a new radio!

Just tried the hack. Unfortunately I don't notice any progress.
In fact the extracted files are missing after reboot (no bp_nvm_default folder). I searched for them earlier in order to use basebandswitcher but never found them.
Maybe the whole telephony module really is emulated in java (see /system/etc/init.goldfish.sh)? But what would it mean for us?
I also tried 3 other ways yesterday without success:
- tried to flash bp.img from Blur_Version.4.7.3XT610.Verizon.en.US.zip --> status 7 error in CWM
- flash a zip containing radio.img of a european Pro+ update --> installs too fast without any noticable difference. Looks like he is ignoring the radio
- flashed JackpotCalvin's ICS rom which also includes bootmenu with a 2nd boot config only containing init.mapphone_umts.rc --> I may have done something wrong during the process but coulnd't see any difference
@any user of the US-verizon model: can you choose between more than "USA Band" when you do the following?
- dial *#*#4636#*#*
- go to "Phone Information"
- press menu softkey
- select radio band
@anyone with original european froyo: what choices do you have?
Ive seen different models (including Pro+) which always let me choose between 5-6 different basebands.

Ive seen different models (including Pro+) which always let me choose between 5-6 different basebands.
Click to collapse
In all pro we can choose only usa band (also in european froyo...)
Try to move manually the folder bp_nvm
Or Try this...
Install a nandroid backup of original american 2.3.3 (very original!!)
then try to recive the update from verizon and install it
Will I need to pull battery for 3 hours if I do the verizon update?
Boh....!!!! But I've seen your pm! Did you phone restart?
In my experience my phone restart in about 3 ours... coming from froyo...
But coming from 2.3.6?

I don't know if this will help you or not, but I have the VZW 4.7.3 SBF file now. I just got it from a friend who pulled it from Motorola's server.
I have not tested it yet and have no need to as my Pro is already on 4.7.3 and rooted and is an engineering model anyway.
I will upload it somewhere to post publicly tonight or tomorrow when I get the chance.

I may have good news everyone!
After I have some issues with the 3g hack (files not showing up after reboot), I unzipped them manually. Then I changed permissions to rw-r--r-- and installed Defy+ baseband switcher to changed baseband to European (900/2100).
Since I've been mainly in areas with good signal quality the last week, I'm not a 100% sure if it really improved anything. But it feels like it!
Can someone please try this workaround for verification? The needed files are attached.
Thanks!
the right steps are?
1) Extract your I and II zips file in our pc
2) copy folder bp_nvm_default (II zip) from our pc to our phone under system/etc/motorola
3) set permissions
4) copy basebandswitcher (I Zip) from your II zip to /system/app, set permission to rw-r-r
5) Reboot
6) Open the new app
7) Or use my rom....! ;-)
it is right?
Thats right! Thank you for completing

[ROM Release] Kiss4Droid (Based on B572G)

This is the 1st ROM I developed/cooked
It is based on official B572G Release so it's Gingerbread 2.3.5
The ROM follows a K.I.S.S philosophy trying to have almost no extra apps installed so you can build your system around your needs
Let's see what changed:
Changes:
1) Changed Default Launcher to Zeam
2) Removed a lot of apps from Huawei and left only the essential ones(install everything else you need from PlayStore or by installing apk files from other roms)
3) Changed Default CPU Governor to SmartAssV2
4) updated hosts file(no more ads) and gps.conf (for europe usage)
5) Added Volume Rocker Wake
6) Unlocked FPS & Root Permissions(of course )
7) Removed some audio files from the media folder to save space
8) Added init.d & build.prop tweaks(some of them may not work, but they don't have any side effect in the system so I left them there on purpose)
9) Changed Camera & Settings Icon to look like ICS (thanks to Pikachukaki for his great guide in replacing .png files in apk files)
10) Patched libsqlite.so
11) HDR function enabled on camera(well this actually is included in number 8 cuz it's a build.prop tweak )
12) Fast Boot Option is removed (again a build.prop tweak)
I have also made some little tricks here and there in the cust.img so make sure before flashing the ROM that you have a working backup and/or a backup of the cust.img
I edited the cust.img and removed all extra apps and module files there, and also changed the default language to english because without this the ROM would boot the 1st time in chinese
If you don't want to flash my cust.img that is in the .zip file simpy delete it from there
If you flashed and you want your old cust.img back simply boot into pink screen and replace it with you cust.img backup
There is no side effect from the cust.img change except that you will lose swype, huawei ime(I prefer the basic android keyboard anyways) and also the Totem Weather Widget
Installation:
Do the following in any order
-------------------------------------------------
Wipe data/factory reset
Advanced->Wipe Dalvik Cache
Mounts & Storage-> Format system
--------------------------------------------------
Now flash the .zip file
Reboot
Enjoy!
Everything is working in this ROM (because it's based on official B572) except TV-OUT of course
Anyway.Tell me what you think of my 1st work on android.
Happy Flashing

Nice ROM. Keep It Up. Post Some Screenshots If You Can.
Thanks.
Screenshoots added!
Note that the screenshoot app and es file explorer that you see in the 2nd image aren't present when you first install the ROM.You have to install them from play store
That's great. thanks for share.
Nice work..you manage to edit the cust.img??nice!!!i was bored to install linux!!
Modding the cust.img wasn't hard actually.
Btw pikachukaki, again thanks a lot for helping with my first updater-script issues!

hmmm. That is a personal opinion. I like cm7 more due to the power widget, screen on/off animation etc
But if someone wants an official huawei gingerbread ROM(official for U8800+, not a port from honor e.g kalo) then this should be a good choice.

[HOWTO] Change CSC region code without losing data

Hello,
I had to make a video for a noob girly friend (hum...) who needed to change her CSC region code but didn't want to lose time to copy her sd card partition to her PC, then back to phone... And the problem is recursive on XDA's threads, so I made the video in english to let people understand. Sorry for my bad unpracticed english...
As everyone know, changing CSC from a custom ROM wipes everything on sd card partiton. So the point is to change it directly in te .zip file of the ROM.
How to do it, easy as 1, 2, 3 :
- Extract your ROM .zip in a new folder
- Go to system / csc
- Here's a list of available CSC region codes
- Choose your CSC (XEF for me - France)
- Go to XEF (replace by your CSC) / system / csc
- Copy all files : contents.db, customer.xml, feature.xml, others.xml, sales_code.dat
- Paste it and replace files in the main CSC folder : ROM / system / CSC
- Repack all the folders in a .zip file
Here' s the video :
http://youtu.be/RqplhCYQdPI
PS : I don't get how to integrate youtube video, I paste embeded intergrated link (<iframe width=....) wraped by [YOUTUBE] tags, but video isn't showing...

Hmm, didn't know that. But doing this gives chosen CSC in "CSC selector" of different ROMs, and correct access in market.

I would find out, your fix may break something quite significant, there must be a reason you can't just edit the user accessible bits or they would have done it for SGS2.

I've been doing this since 3 months, everything's going fine, and apps I couldn't see or install from market are back. Probably not the best way to do, but it doesn't break stuff.

Doubt if that's relevant to phone use as it just gives the Samsung letter code like XEO .
Plus i have copied CSC files over for years with no problem and don't even bother with CSC now .

I understood this so: i copy the CSC files from the csc i need and paste it in the csc from the rom default (from dbt to eur) and reboot. Maybe i am on the wrong way.

Yes, something like that, copy the csc you need to the device replacing the csc there.
And also the two files mentioned earlier (edit if required) to the '/system' folder.
