1. chromatic
2. superE
3. Frayo
4. EZgb
5. Bananabread
6. CM7.2
I have a G1 to play with and set up the last stable CM6 on it, but the poor thing is really overwhelmed.
I'm cutting out some extras with TiBU, but I would like to find the best lightweight CM-based ROM to put on.
Before cleaning there was 2.5mb free in ROM memory and about 5mb free internal memory. Seems way too shallow a pool for swimming.

Try my rom (the FBLwo version) FBL is based on CM6 but faster and I slimmed a lot to get more free ram. You can see it in my sign "Froyo Cream Sandwich"

Bah! And I forgot, my current favourite is LMCFroyo. But the latest release seems to be hit-and-miss for some folks. There may be one more build coming, though. Best, fastest, most functional (in a minimalist way) ROM I've ever had on my G1.

True, but considering we have the skills to port Miui V4 across to any device which has an already supported ICS rom, I think people call for us without thinking.
Shame really that we aren't allowed to post on XDA as we would be able to supply what others are wanting.
Ah well, what can I say, XDA and it's users shot themselves in the foot.

Use Swedish Snow,
http://www.modaco.com/topic/350875-romgen2-swedish-snow-rls7-android-235/
It's a stock 2.3.5 Swedish ROM designed for the ZTE Blade, there are a few minor tweaks and customisations to make the user experience better, but it's no where near as customised as CyanogenMod. To be honest it's the nearest you're going to get to an AOSP stock ROM designed for the ZTE Blade
PS: I know it's an awesome ROM since I use it.

I have themed it to look like a samsung stock rom. Battery is amazing. I can play all my HD games(of course after editing build.prop). This is smoother than CM7 IMHO.

Should be based on CM9, and AROMA installer would do the rest.
But if you want my opinion, about to kernels: Semaphore, MNICS or Devil are great, so it is up to you. Modem could be JVU or ZSJPG (or one of the ported from Nexus).
A nice custom Bootanimation.
Few apps, only the strictly necessary.
Nova launcher (I didn´t try Apex).

Ics, AOSP for speed and stability, with a few aokp and cm9 cherry picks. Something in between slim and ICS333. Libwebcore.so from 4.0.3. Apex since nova doesn't support call notifications, but that's no big deal. Kernel pick would actually be midnight with didle (you didn't say that the picks should exist in reality)
And these features (Site is down for me, so use this link) : http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...manufacturer-skins-to-cm9-compatible-devices/

So what does it mean for users.
Does it mean that ROMs like CM9 will start supporting everything like S-Pen, FM radio etc.,?
Or does it mean we will see slightly modified versions of stock roms. For example touchwiz removed, but swype there.

You are going to see a lot of different Roms once we have several safe custom kerenels.
CM9 will always remain lean and Samsung-free, but there'll be lots of CM9-based hybrid Roms catering for everybody's needs. Also, a lot of TW-based Roms.
I suspect that our Dev will soon start to look like SGS2 one:

As suspected, the N7000 ICS kernel is far from different from any i9100 iCS kernels !!!
I made comparison from all i91000 ICS kernels, and there were only slight diffs from "European" (called Open source : GT-I9100_ICS and GT-I9100P_ICS), with Korean Update 3 and Update 4.
The major changes came from i9100 Korean ICS update 5 !!!
This first N7000 ICS kernel is completely different from any previously quoted i9100 ICS kernels, including Korean ICS update 5 !!!

So does this mean this source is really old or maybe really new?
I hope kernel devs sees this and take into account: best feature of a kernel will be dual-boot mode, like siyah's kernel for SGS2 :X
