I would not do that.
It's an old phone (about 1,5 years) with specs not much different than NS (screen with higher res, but only 3,5 inches)
95% of cellphones made by Meizu are sold into Chinese market (mainland + HK).
If you're looking for ROMs, mods and other support, you must go to chinese forum/websites.
If you're Chinese (or you can read it) = no problem. Otherwise, IMHO, this is a big disadvantage
I think most of available custom ROM are MIUI based. Since i don't like this UI at all, I would definitely not consider the idea.

The nexus s has the official miui (+ a lot of custom roms too) if you like that interface. If I were to change phone I would switch to the Galaxy Nexus or the next nexus phone (can't come back to proprietary interfaces and slow updates after pure google experience)

I came from 4.3 down to this 4 in screen. 3.5 is just ridiculous. Itd feel like a toy

It's ridiculous. I like the stock 4.1 Jelly Bean. I can't find a reason to change to M9 or MIUI

I do like the sleek UI of meizu though

Then just get it. All you talk about is Meizu (3 threads) so buy it. I think it is silly but hey, each to there own.

Go for it if you really want it. But that's not a good idea.

If you want to change to M9, it has some advantages and disadvantages:
Adv:
- FlymeOS looks like iOS and more prettier with custom themes, you can get them ( some free ) from AppCenter.
- Has important good features of Android such as Market, Google Maps etc ..
- Can root at this moment.
- Editing support is someway better than stock Android, IMO.
Dis:
- You stick with Flyme forever, perhap.
- M9 just has 512 M ROM and original install let you have just 200M free.
- Not sure it can be rooted in future. Besides, it can not switch to more lightweight rom or launcher.
- If hardware is broken it is hard to replace ( such as glass, touch panel etc .. )
- Some games can not run on M9.
- The screen size ( though resolution is 640x 960 ) is too small if compare to phones nowaday.
- You can buy, it is cheaper now, but I prefer you take a look at another China phone such as Jiayu G2 and G3, Newman N1 and Oppo Finder.
- Product lifecycle of M9 is short and now it is nearly end. People focus to MX.:crying:
I own a Meizu M9, it is good, but I must wait a very looooong time to get it rooted. And one time I dropped and broke the glass of it, I must sent it to China so it could be repaired. If Meizu can open their bootloader then it is a happy ending for M9.:victory:

Anyone had N900 prior to Nexus S

Hi guys, anyone coming from N900? Would you recommend Nexus S and/or Android
I had an N810 just for fun way back in the day, but I dumped it because Android totally owns it. If you need a physical keyboard I'd recommend the G2, otherwise the Nexus S is the best.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
Physical keyboard quite important for me but so is the stock android. Don;t like sense and other customizations
I have both (N900 and NS).
N900 has 32GB+microSD, better cam, more video and audio format support.
NS has better screen, Flash 10.1 and Android 2.3
Yep, I came from an N900, though I have had Android devices since the OS launched.
Finding the Nexus S a great improvement on the Nexus One, and indeed the N900. The only drawback is the lack of hardware QWERTY.

The G2 is running near stock Android. It just didn't receive its updates straight from Google like the Nexus does.

I'm in love with the MicroB on N900. Is Android browser close to it?
I came from the N900 and have played with the N8 & Dell Venue Pro. In my opinion, android and the Nexus S are head & shoulders above Maemo & N900. web-browsing with MicroB is pretty awesome, and I do miss the physical keyboard for snes emulator and other things, but I REALLY dig the Nexus S.

It's tough to compare.
Browsing on the Nexus is excellent, the UI's great and the rendering is good but for all its sins MicroB was pretty much a desktop browsing experience, and the Nexus certainly doesn't feel like that.
I'm happy with the Nexus though as it covers enough bases to make it an upgrade.
What do you miss most from N900?
I've had n900, for a year since it launched and I love the phone but the lack of support ruins the experience. I've had the nexus for a few days and I thought reverting back to android would be tough (had g1 for a year also from launch) but it was quite easy. I totally miss the dashboard and multi tasking on the n900. That is one thing that android lacks but a quick way to adjust is hold home and use last used apps. The nexus's hardware is good enough that when u open up apps the old apps don't shut off. So u can switch between apps unlike older android phones that wouldn't put apps in idle cause it took to much resources to run multiple apps. Anyways it feels like I'm ranting lol, but bottom line this is my first phone without a keyboard and I don't miss it at all. Andorid 2.3 is a big improvement and hey n900 has a 2.3 port now too try it out.

I'm waiting for nitdroid but still no update for 2.3 port
Yea waiting for the update too. I use my n900 as my dedicated mid. Best one so far =D

How's everyone liking Nexus 4

I had a nexus s, galaxy nexus and went to a Z10. I'm kinda missing my Android experience and apps. I originally wanted the nexus 4 nut got this and now thinking of trading. Is everyone pleased with their nexus 4?
First Android phone, definitely pleased!
//nexus⁴
Make the trade bud.. Ive come from a galaxy s 4g, then an s2, then an s3... I couldn't be happier with my decision to buy this phone.

I had the S3 for a week and hated it compared to my gnex.
Onky problem is I have about $150 in z10 cases lol
Definitely trade. Lots of ROMs to try out for this awesome phone.
Definitely better than Z10... using pure android is really a different experience after seeing Touchwiz or Sense

Well if that is the deciding factor for you then you may need help , but no the panorama camera is just as good as any other and 4.2 has photosphere which is bada**
Nexus 4 is my 3. Android phone, and by far the best. Forget the cartoon like touchwiz or bloat filled sense. Pure 4.2 is IMO Much better.
In Denmark N4 cost the same as gs3 but I still think it's better value.

This is my 5th android phone. Can't go wrong with the nexus line. I love this phone like a fat kid loves cake.
Although I'm currently awaiting a replacement phone as the touch screen went dead on mine... I suspect static buildup then an arc from my leg to the screen... So I might suggest setting the phone down when you know you will be around static buildup, as I now will.

The screen is amazing once you calibrate it. It's easily as good as the HOX and iPhone 5 and probably as good as the Z10 (even with the lower PPI). Overall this phone is brilliant taking everything into account, couldn't have asked for more.

Z10 has more PPI , smaller screen , Cost a lot more

Galaxy S4 or Xperia Z/ZL or Nexus 4??

Guyz i have a budget of 30K and options i made out are Nexus 4, Xperia Z/ZL or Samsung galaxy S4.
Can you give suggestions??
My requirement is : Music like Xperia phones, Camera sensor like Xperia phones, Display like AMOLED or S-LCD.
My last device was Xperia SP and it totally sucked. Pathetic display. Pathetic camera. Sold out after 10 days use!!!
Go for nexus if you want pure stock ROM

I had a Z and now I have a S4. Worst decission ever. Going back to Z.
In the end, it's a matter of personal preferences. I like the XZ because of the premium feeling, music (I listen a lot of music during the day), and exclusivity. I have seen S3 and S4 all around the place I live, and if I pay a lot of money for a gadget, I want to have at least a little exclusivity.
About the screen, I like the one on the XZ. The thing with the viewing angles is non existent at this point.
The camera has been greatly improved.
You should check the XZ forum and read about that phone in there.
I haven't had a Nexus and I don't like it (Find it too boring), so I couldn't tell you about it.
Anyway, with any of the options you'll have a great device.
All Questions must be posted in the Q/A section
I have the Nexus 4 and the S4 .
The Screen of the S4 is better, the Battery is a lot of better , for the N4 there are tons of roms and kernel out there, this is one thing i am missing here ( i am a flash junkie, only AOSP Roms and Kernel )
All in all , both are great Phones. Cant realy say wich one is better. I keep both Phones.
xperia z cabt even compete with s2, it has the worst washed screen, terrible battery life and super stupid screen response. .. used it for 3 days and I couldn't stand it anymore
n4 isn't bad at all but you shld consider that on screen soft buttons will make your typing really hard ( pressing on home button instead of space alot)

Well. I had nexus 4 and I must say that it was the smoothest and most fluent experience. It felt like the software was actually optimized for the hardware. Ok one or two stutters mostly with third party apps like Facebook. But...i now use a i9505 with 4.3 GE build JRV66V which is incredible. I now have a better nexus experience, a much better camera (compared with the nexus 4 ) and great battery life. Can't say anything about xperia z/zl other than to assume that the same SOC/GPU/RAM with the nexus 4 but with a bigger screen and also a higher resolution, cannot bring a better os experience than a nexus one. The differences are in looks, Oem software and personal affinities.
Hope it helped. Cheers.

IMO just stay away from XZ/ZL crappy display - bad cam - tiny speaker
Nexus very good device with fast updates but it had bad cam with no SD + glass back ( chance of breaking the glass x2 ) , no 1080p display
GS4 : I9500 more powerful CPU than I9505 , games work better than I9505 , better DAC , better Battery , better cam sensor
I9505: better AOSP support - more powerful GPU than I9500
BTW Htc One is good option too
my 0.2 $
I am using s4 9500 htc one and iphone5, as you can see i am a gadget maniac.
Didnot use nexus 4 so i cannot post anything about it.
I just sold my XZ 2 days ago. For me;
if you want to play games and use big screen go for s4
if you want something you can daily use go for Htc.
Htc one is very stable and no lags.
s4 has so many lags (for me) and not much rom support like 9505.
if you want to shoot good pics go for s4, htc camera is totally crap (big failure).
Htc one is handy you can use easily with one hand.
Both screens are excellent both 1080p.
Hope helps
cheers;

You meant i9500 has poor roms choice, the i9505 has as much as the One,I am using sometimes the launcher + weather widget from XZ one my One thanks to codex and it rules!
The 13mp of the S4 is awesome though and make me want to swap from my One to S4
if youre going to use the S4 then get the 9505

how is the battery life on the xperia z since the latest update
I got the 9505 my wife the Nexus 4.
Being honest I wouldnt buy the S4 again.
One big plus is the cam (only on stock rom!). But it is so damn lagging. Cant believe this by a so called flagship. I really love the "nexus experience" of the N4. The N4 has also a great housing, in my opinion better than the S4. The screen of the S4 inside buildings is great, outside the amoled is not bright enough.
Maybe you should check the Moto X if available in your country.

Correct. Unfortunately the Cam isnt that good with GE.
For 1 S4 you get 2 N4. This is why for me the N4 is the better option

Used both The HTC One and the Galaxy S4 S600 version... if you want something with a better camera and slightly better battery life go with the S4... Everything else go with the HTC One. The HTC One, despite running 4.1.2 is as smooth and quick as my SGS4 on a 4.3 Nexus ROM. For development, the HTC One has more kernels and ROMs too.

XZ' s battery life is good but with the update i felt little bit of more juice in stamina mode. But of course when screen is on juice runs out more quickly.
S4 > Htc One > XZ . For my statistics these are the battery times.
I tried the N4 then the S4.
The S4 is better for me ! More expensive but more better !
Sorry for my english
lol the xperia phones are a disgrace.. why would sony put such a bad screen on their flagship device?
i have a galaxy s4 myself running on the latest touchwiz rom, it rarely lags , the screen is amazing except for the "ghosting/smearing issue" everything else is great
im gonna be switching to the GE 4.3 rom when its available (probably tomorrow) :good:

Simple question: new Nexus 4 or used Xperia Z (condition: noticeably used, but without big scratches, ~7/10)?
If you could, please write pros/cons. I'd really appreciate any help! Thanks.

absolutely nexus 4 !!! i didnt buy my nexus with the great price of google store i paid around 450 euros and i never will regret this treasure i get better support better quality better development and better community is are biggest pros.. a great screen maybe not 1080p but still amazing and both have same spec almost both snapdragon s4 pro with 2 gb ram but can u say Z is more beautiful than N4?! choose google! u will have the support from mama! :good:
I went from N4 to an XZ then back to an N4. I found the XZ too big and awkward to use, it lags a bit more than the N4 too.
Or maybe Xiaomi MI2S? Currently beats all phones!
Its the Nexus 4 forum, it'll be obviously biased towards the Nexus 4.
^^ somebooty isnt happy. Remember opinions; we all have em and breathing is good.

I used one for a bit in a Sony store. I didn't like it. It felt more uncomfortable in the hand, it lagged, and even though the screen was 1080p, it looked worse. The colors looked way off, didn't really look great, and the viewing angles were terrible. I would get a Nexus 4.

The nexus 4 is awesome!!
Fastest android device u can get (in terms of ui smoothness) as of now
But hey the experia z is so sexy i like it a lot and also the 13 mp is a pulse too only thing holding me back from buying it is it being a bit too large .
Do you guys still in the USA via the Play Store the Nexus 4 will still be cheaper than the Moto X?
If I was going to buy the phone JUST to use it, no developing no nothing, I'd get the XZ. It looks great and it performs well.
If I was going to buy the phone to mod and develop, I'd get the nexus 4.
That's another reason I went back to the N4, the dev community for the XZ isn't very active. For example there's only 1 custom kernel and it only works with stock based roms. I was bored.
Bought Nexus 4 16GB in latest HW revision. If someone has similar issue between the phones, you can ping me via PM. Thank you all.

Would you recommend this device

OK so I will be getting a new device soon and I'm torn between this phone or the galaxy s4. So I'm wondering will this device be supported for a long time. And will it be just as fast.considering its snapdragon s4 vs snapdraggon 600

i'm sure you will love this phone. So far I've never found a phone with a better overall than nexus 4.
The design is classy and the processor is very good. battery life is good. and the front and the back of the phone is made by gorilla glass. camera is 8mp with flash supported. and there is front camera as well. Easy to customize and root. i've root a lot of phone before and this is the easiest. I root my n4 in <5mins. And the price is not really expensive as well. so this is really recommended. it's hard to find a better phone than n4 at its price.
I have had my Nexus 4 for two months now and am happy with the choice I made. I do recommend a good case or at least a bumper and screen protector. I would only consider the Google Edition Galaxy S4, and you will pay a $200 premium over the cost of the Nexus 4.
This phone will be supported for at least 2 years down the line with ota updates second to none. That alone makes it better than any other phone in my book. Plus most of the snapdragon 600's power is wasted on Samsung's touchwiz so the nexus 4 is at least as fast as the s4.
Posting threads like this get you a very biased opinion.
I will try to be as straight as I can without sounding like a device fan boy.
Decide what you are gonna do with the device. The nexus 4 is outstanding on the development side but lacking on features. Next decide how much time you want to spend messing with your device. Battery can be a bug factor. Next decide on memory. Nexus is limited there. Then choose the best device that suites you.
As long as it fits your needs there is no wrong device.
Wayne Tech Nexus
Yes and no. Depends on your usage patterns. Battery life on 4.2.2 was respectable. However with the 4.3 update a slew of problems have been found. My Nexus 4 currently has the: low battery life, camera flash bug, boot loader on power off bug, AOSP keyboard bug.
I would suggest asking around. If you need a workable phone (for now) get a N4 with 4.2.2 else go for 4.3 to save time

Yes while that's true I personally thing touch wiz is s*it and if I get the s4 I will be flashing cm and a customers kernel on it first thing. And I do spend a lot of time messing with my phone. Over clocking. Building customers kernels with extra features etc also a lot of time gaming and listening to music. And I'm not sure about the storage in the n4 because I do use a lot of storage for music pictures/video etc. And I do like the bigger screen of the s4 but I like the support the n4 will be getting. Even though I will be building/flashing custome ROMs/kernels on which ever phone I get. So that's kind of where I'm torn about it the storage and screen size of the s4 but the openness and support of the n4
