I rooted the Nexus a few days ago and everything was working fine had to do a reboot this evening but all it does now is sit at the Google padlock splash screen and it won't go any further.
I've tried going into the boot loader and running recovery but it just goes back to the Google padlock splash screen.
Is there anything I can do to resolve the problem and try and recover the Nexus or is it bricked?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thans

This is "normal" behavior (the bootloader needs to be fixed). Just hold power until your tablet turns off and then you can turn it back on again. Other methods for accessing recovery still work, like the reboot menu of a custom ROM or an app that can reboot into recovery like Quickboot. If you can't get your tablet to boot correctly though, then while your tablet is connected to your running computer, try to enter recovery from the bootloader and it should boot into recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475 <- if u have tried everything on the tablet, and still not working, than this tool will solve ur problem, it install a stock version on it and data will be wiped
hope this help,
cheers

Worked a treat once connected to the USB on my laptop and got into recovery and restored the Nandroid backup, then restored my data and system backup from Sunday with Titanium and was back up and running in half an hour.
Thanks

I rooted my G2 about two months ago. I'm currently using MIUI, not the latest but the one before it. Somehow, my phone got turned off and when I tried to turn it back on, it was stuck in a bootloop. I have a custom recovery image so I don't know if that affects anything. I tried to reboot into recovery by pressing volume down and power, nothing happened. I then did volume up and power. It vibrated three times and the orange light started flashing. I pulled the battery and now when I try to turn it on, nothing happens. So how do I reboot into recovery and so I can restore my backup? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Never pull the battery during something like that. It sounds like your bricked. Someone else confirm?
I don't think it's bricked. I plugged it up and then Clockwork came up so I selected reboot now. Clockwork came up again so I tried to restore my latest backup and the screen went black. I'm going to let it charge and then give it another try.
Ok good. That's lucky because whenever you pull on a boot like that, it usually bricks. If you have the option, try to re-flash your ROM. Maybe even try stock. If you were getting a black screen, it's most likely you flashed incorrectly.
Ok, I was able to boot into recovery and now I'm restoring my backup. I don't think I had a custom recovery image with this one so hopefully I won't get stuck in a bootloop. When you say stock, do you mean before I flashed MIUI (it was the first rom I flashed)? Thank you for your suggestions and all of your help.
first install adb on you PC, it helps a lot in these kind of cases.
1. try "adb logcat", it would tell you about what's going on in your machine.
2. once you get your adb working, try "adb reboot recovery" to see if it could boot your phone in recovery.
3. if after doing everything you fail to boot either your phone or in recovery then try using PC10IMG to boot a stock rom and then re-root your phone.
I got it back working. For some reason, I'm just starting to think that it needed charging (the battery had been out for about a day or two). I do have adb installed and configured on my computer since I needed it to root. Thank you for your suggestions, I will definitely rember them if this happens again.
lol of course when you get black screen and led blnking means your battery begging for juice, you're lucky that when the phone booted back in recovery and you tried to restore a backup the phone went off before actually starting to restore, that would've bricked your phone
DO NOT FLASH ANYTHING WITHOUT AT LEAST 40% OF JUICE LEFT
Was checking facebook earlier, it stopped responding and just went to a grey screen. Decided to restart the tablet. Now it's stuck in a bootloop and will not turn on. Tried going into recovery but once I select it, the next screen I get is an android with a red triangle/exclamation point. It won't go into recovery and I'm not sure what to do from here. My laptop won't recognize that I have my tablet plugged in either, fwiw.
Is this thread my only option or did I miss something else? This link sounds complicated, but if it's my only option, I guess I'll give it a shot. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1907796&highlight=can+t+boot+into+recovery+mode
It can be anything from hw failure to corrupted data. I guess your tablet is stock, without custom recovery or anything. If this is the case, you should try restoring a stock image by that guide or by using a toolkit, like this one. If you have custom recovery on your tab, you should boot into bootloader and reflash the custom recovery with fastboot, this way your data might be saved.
Completely stock. I'll download Wug tonight after work and give it a try since it seems easier than the link I provided.
I didn't back anything up, but that's okay, I can live with that. Just want to be able to use the tablet again.
Well, got home and decided to give recovery another shot. I got it to wipe all data (was pressing the vol up button for too long earlier), but now when i go to reboot the device, it's just stuck on the X screen.
Any advice on what I should do at this point? Should I still try wug?

I had the same issue. I believe it was a bad MD5. Although I know you can adb command from a PC, I had just recently deleted all of my drivers to get into a couple of nexus 7's.keep trying the volume down and power key the correlation seems to be if you can hit it right as it boots. I made it back to the factory data reset screen hit power through and dropped into TWRP.
I'm not sure how much you know or if you've ever had to boot through the factory reset screen but it does NOT actually reset your device rather is the push to your recovery.
Good luck,

I have done that sevral times now before it did go into that recovery twrp but not when I do it it goes into fastboot everytime , its like it has wiped twrp off the phone and no recovery , even used fastboot on pc to boot into it and it wont just goes back to fast bootscreen
you should be able to still get recovery -switch off phone, press vol down and power button at the same time as soon as you see the lg logo press the same combination again and hopefully it will go to a white screen with factory reset press the button I think 3 times and it will take you thru to twrp it may take a few tries but if u get the combo right it will work -if not you may have to go to the thread in xda g2 forum and im afraid learn how to restore your phone to factory state again which is a pain in the a**e but make sure you have all the necessary drivers installed as that will not work properly either-hopefully you can get back into recovery and restore your back up-good luck!
Hello all,
Any help with this would be seriously appreciated. I rooted my Nexus 10 a while back, maybe two years ago. I'm not very proficient with this stuff. Anyhow I decided to do the OTA upgrade to 5.0...I was concerned something would go wrong unless I went to stock first, but I read that the only thing that would happen is root would be removed.
Anyhow, the tablet appears stuck while booting. I see the Google screen first with the unlocked indicator on the bottom. A few seconds later is the Android logo on its back, a red triangle over it with an exclamation point and "no command" written below". It stays that way for a minute or so, tries to reboot and goes back to the no command screen. I can't even power off, when I try to do so it just powers back on by itself and ends up at the no command screen again.
I tried booting into recovery (power, volume up, volume down). My options from here are either Start, Restart Bootloader, Recovery Mode or Power Off. Every option I choose leads to the No Command Screen (except power off, which powers off). No idea what to do from here.
Any help at all would be appreciated. As you can probably tell I don't have much experience with this and just wanted to go back to unrooted stock. If you have advice, please be clear. I can follow directions well enough, just don't have much experience here. Thanks in advance.
Same here, bootloop.
Same thing here. A seemingly short download of Lollipop (even though I have 50Mbs internet). Installation, reboot, and now it loops endlessly. I can get to the bootloader or into Download mode, but that's all. Recovery mode just reboots. I was rooted and had TWRP installed. Other than that, I was running stock 4.4.4.
I've rooted all my devices, and installed various ROM's on several devices. I have the full ADB installation. I have the Nexus Root Toolkit installed. The problem is, the device will not show up under "Devices" on the computer itself. I've installed every USB driver there is (and uninstalled each one after it does not work, so no I do not have several USB drivers installed). Of course nothing shows up using "adb devices" either. Nexus Root Toolkit also cannot find any devices. I've read everything on this subject I can find, and there are no answers out there. Anyone have ANY ideas??
Thanks
Guys, if your device is connected in fastboot (try "fastboot devices") then you can flash roms or recovery (and then flash rom) from there. There are multiple threads with the same problems out there which were fixed. E.g: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-10/help/bricked-t2948546
In my example, I flashed TWRP recovery from fastboot, then installed custom ROM from recovery (official ROM failed to install for some reason). Try this, it might help.

Go to Fastboot mode (pwr+both volumes), Than select recovery after a while an android with Exclamation mark appears which is a stock recovery screen. To access the stock recovery menu press and hold power than press one of the volume keys so the menu will appear. Than do a factory reset and clear caches. You can than reboot and wait for boot animation to finish (it wont take long this time) and you will boot.
If this doesnt work you can flash a stock factory image easily from fastboot again.

Hey all, completely new to this forum and my Oneplus Two that I've had for a little over two weeks.
I recently got a OTA update for Oxygen 2.2.0 but I can't seem to install it. Everytime I download it and click the "install" option, the phone reboots (probably to go to recovery) but after a very brief splash screen and a vibration, it vibrates again and displays the standard boot splash screen, boots into the OS and offers me to download the update again.
I've done a little troubleshooting in the past two-three days and from what I understand, the phone doesn't seem to be able to boot into recovery or fastboot. I've enabled the advanced options in the "reboot" menu and when selecting "recovery" the phone reboots and does the same behavior described above. I tried powering off the phone and booting with the volume up button pressed (while pressing power) and the phone boots and displays a "Fastboot Mode" splash screen but it seems to hang there forever until I actually shut it off again and power it back on. Also, I've tried booting it into recovery from ADB, connected to my PC and I get the same behavior: brief splash screen with a vibrate and then the phone seems to reboot again normally.
I haven't tampered with the phone yet, it is brand new out of the box, not rooted and nothing other than simply installing a few games, Nova Launcher, changing the wallpaper and using it as you would normally use your phone.
Anyone has an idea how I could actually get the Recovery functioning on this phone?
Best regards and thanks in advance for any help!

That is the norm for fastboot, it doesn't go past that screen.
It may not make a difference, did you try to boot to recovery via Power+Volume Down buttons?
Greetings Khaos64,
Yes, I've tried booting with Vol-Down+Power but the phone does not start.
With volume-up+power, I get the Fastboot splash screen but the phone does not respond to any input.
I tried selecting "bootloader" from the reboot menu but I get the same thing: Reboots and after a second, the phone reboots again normaly and into OxygenOS.
Is there a way to verify if the bootloader or recovery is corrupt and maybe reflash the stock recovery onto the phone?
Thanks for your input!
You may just want to go straight to oneplus support since everything is stock and only 2 weeks they should be able to get you updated or replace it.
If you'd like to be more hands on... maybe something below can help.
So your phone isn't recognized/no commands acceptred from your computer when booted to fastboot?
Such as unlocking your bootloader and booting into twrp... "fastboot boot yourfilename.img" or maybe flashing it.
Make sure OEM unlocking is selected in Developer options.
If you can't do that then this may not work but is worth a shot.

I did try to contact Oneplus for support but I am not the one who purchased the phone. Long story short, it was a gift from my girlfriend that she bought off of someone. The phone was new in box and was a warranty replacement. I would have to contact the seller and go trough him for support unfortunately.
Thanks for the different suggestions!, I will fiddle around with it this afternoon while the kids are having their mid-day nap and I'll get back with the results
Thanks again for the help, it's greatly appreciated!
Hello,
I eventually started fiddling around with fasboot and tried unlocking the bootloader. This sent the phone into a bootloop where it would try to boot into recovery and reboot right away.
I found an article on how to restore the phone to Oxygen 2.1.1. It would wipe user data but I did it anyway and it actually did restore the phone and now I have a worling recovery.
Here is a link to the guide I used:

Thanks again for the help in solving my issue
Congratulations hope you enjoy the phone
