Ordering from Play Store outside US - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, here's the thing. I have a friend living in the US who is coming over to India in about 10 days.
I want to order a Nexus 7 that is delivered to his house & he will bring it with him when he comes here.
I figured out how to access the US Play Store [using a proxy that spoofs an US IP].
Now, can I use my Indian credit card and enter a US billing address ?
Are there any other steps I need to take so that the order goes through ?
If anyone has placed an order or has any experience doing such stuff, I would really appreciate you input.

Can your "friend" not buy it for you using his credit card and you pay him out later? He can pick it up at any retail store stocking N7.
Most CC cards need the billing address to be specified on the file, I suspect transaction with your own CC will be denied.
Besides, have you been reading the forums yet? All the 12-13 manufacturing defects this tablet has?
What will you do if you get a lemon?

Nah, I couldn't ask him to pay for it.
If I give a US billing address [fake], will the transaction be declined ?
As for the defects, I am worried, but as ASUS seems to releasing the Nexus 7 in India in a few months, I will get warranty soon enough. But, I definitely hope I get a defect-free tablet.:fingers-crossed:

Anyone have any ideas on how to do it ?

Bump ?

Hi there,
I'm a reseller in other country. My customers want to buy google nexus so much that I have to find a way to order it from play store.
I will ship the items to a cargo service in US and then export them to my country.
In the purchase step, I added my international VISA card with billing address is the cargo service address and the shipping address is the same. I did it well and ordered about 200 items last month. However prior last three days, google immediately canceled my all orders if I place new order. I don't know whether google implement their policy about using the US-credit card payment policy more strictly.

You can use your CC, with the REAL billing address. Although from what I've learned, it is possible that your account might be suspended.
But DON'T PANIC.... If it does, write to customer service and provide your ID and CC scans to prove you are not fraud...
There are cases here in China that passed through.
Good luck.

I encountered the same problem recently. Called Google Play support and apparently there is some CC processing issue since Sunday and was still working on it which is consistent with your experience. So just have to wait I suppose. Unless of course the CS is misleading us although he has no reason to do so.
Anyone successfully ordered devices from Google in the last 3 days ?

OMG, you 're so nice. I think I'm the only one meet this problem ( . I'm very frustrated 5 days because I cannot place any order on google play store. Do you have skype or email that we can contact and share information about ordering bulk google nexus 7?
I created many gmail account to tried place order with 3 different international debit cards but there's no positive result. I received some emails with the same content:
Hi there,
Thanks for your patience in this matter, my name is Paul E. and I will
help you sort this out today. I really do know how frustrating these
things can be.
According to our records, this purchase was cancelled by our system for
security reasons, but this appears to have been an isolated case that has
since been resolved. I've taken a look at your account and confirmed that
you have not been charged.
Though your order has been cancelled, you may notice activity on your
credit/debit card for this order. Please be assured that the amount on
your card statement is an authorization, not an actual charge, and the
authorization will automatically be removed from your account within 1-14
business days, depending on your bank.
Though we're not able to re-instate cancelled orders, you're welcome to
try your purchase again. If your orders continue to be automatically
cancelled, please do write back and let me know so that we can alert the
proper team and ensure that your orders go through properly.
I hope that answers your question, but feel free to ask any other Google
Play questions you have. I'd also like to let you know to expect a short
anonymous survey about your support experience in the next few days; we
keep trying to find ways to improve our customer support, and your
feedback will definitely help.
Best,
Paul E.

More problems ordering apps
Hi,
Ok, so hopefully someone has a suggestion.
I've been able to order apps just fine using Proxmate extension on Chrome.
The other day it stopped working.
I had my programmer create a proxy to try and get through, and still no luck ordering.
One possible problem is I tried probably 20+ times to order as we were trying to debug the process.
Now, I have an employee of mine in the US loglin to my account, and try to place an order for an app and it gives her the same error - that the order could not be placed for a technical reason.
Anyone have any ideas how I can get around this? I can log in just fine, but can not purchase. If they suspended my account, I would imagine that I would not be able to even login - but that's just a guess.
Any ideas would be most appreciated.
Thanks.

Travelling with Nexus 10, accessing US Play Store?

I can't seem to find an answer for this in Google. Was wondering if anyone could help me figure it out.
My mother wants to buy a Nexus 10. She lives in Luxembourg, but spends about 2 months every year visiting us in the US. (She is here now, preparing to buy tablet). She wants to access the US Play Store, both here and at home in Lux. Is this possible? What would we need to do it set it up that way? Is using a US credit card enough or are we going to need some kind of Market Enabler app? VPN/Proxy?
Thanks!

You would be able to access the playstore from most countries. The country would remain the one to which your google account is linked and I guess so will the currency.
For example, google movies weren't available where I live around till a month ago. They wouldn't show up on my play store earlier. However, they would show up on my sister's playstore when she visited from London. In simple terms, she was accessing Playstore UK from New Delhi, India.
In answer to the question about the US playstore regarding your mum's tab, I guess you will have to buy a tablet preferably with a US credit card (though this might be overlooked) and definately register it to a US based gmail account. Be sure to register a credit card on the playstore and google account which works in the US.

I'm afraid the above answer may be wrong; it certainly is for Google Play Books. I live in the US, have an Android tablet (Asus TF101 running a Jellybean ROM, tested and working fine with Google Play and with numerous purchases in the US), and it was activated and regularly used for well over a year in the US. My Google account to which it is linked has been used regularly in the US for quite a few years. And to top it all off, the account is linked to a credit card issued in the US, by a US credit union.
Despite all of the above, when I went to purchase a book while travelling overseas on a two week vacation recently, the purchase was denied on the grounds that I was not in the US. It may work briefly, I don't know; I'd been overseas for maybe 9-10 days when I tried the purchase.
However, it was utter childs' play to circumvent this. All I had to do was buy VPN access (it so happens I already had it), go in through the VPN to get a US IP address, and hey presto... The Play store let me make the very same book purchase it had just refused me.
So yes, a VPN is the answer. I used WiTopia, which is US$50 annually or US$6 per month.

This thread might make clearer which credit card to use. You can read the credit card related part.
As for the reply by the person above me, as he has tried purchasing from google playstore while travelling he might have a better idea about that, though I am sure US playstore, movies, music, books etc would be available to you abroad as UK playstore is for my sister. As per what he says, buying from them might be a problem.

Have you called them first off to find out what happened? All I can think of is that you goofed up your billing address for the credit card or maybe Google rejected it if the shipping address used and the billing address of the credit card are different. All the shipping addresses I use along with my credit cards are in Google wallet so they know I use different shipping addresses from that of my billing address and they are approved.
Should also make note that Google won't ship to an address outside of the location of the play store used. So for instance they would cancel your order if you placed it at the US store and put in a delivery address in Germany.

Is this your first one? It sounds like they think you are buying too many at once, but it also sounds like they think you are using a fraudulent credit card.
Some details:
In the settings tab I filled the US friend details (including the *name* and the address)
In the payment methods tap I filled *my* name and my credit card details US address and US phone
Maybe Google canceled the order because the unmatched names?

They probably canceled it because you are using your friends name and address and it doesn't match the billing name and address of the credit card. Which is a huge red flag for fraud and most company's should deny an order placed this way as it looks like a stolen credit card. Your credit card company could also have denied the charge for the exact same reason. To your credit card company it would look like your friend was using your card and if he's not an authorized user, his name has to be in their records, then they will deny the charge.

If you use your name and his address as the shipping address it should work. If not then you could add his address into Google Wallet as a valid shipping address, if you have access to Google Wallet that is where you live. Some companies will only ship to addresses that you have registered with them if it is different from your billing address.

Issues while Buying Nexus 7 2013 LTE from US Play store

Hi,
I placed an order for Nexus 7 2013 LTE to a valid address in US and Order got cancelled..
The story so far:
1. I tried ordering from normal playstore and i am redirected to Indian Playstore (pretty logical from Google since i live in Bangalore, India).
2. I spoofed my IP by going over VPN (Hotspot, Ultrasurf) Google got me there again saying It is not available for my country !!!.
It tracks my activity rather than IP address.
Created a new account and still get the same treatment (not sure how Google got me there. could be that Hotspot, Ultrasurf are blacklisted or something).
3. Went to my office VPN and tried placing order with a new account ( Google could not catch me here and i got proceeded to order)
4. Order Placed, money deducted from my credit card, got order conformation from Google. (yay ! -----> happiness short-lived bitterly)
5. 2 minutes later my order gets cancelled saying my name on credit card and recipient name does not match (!) and bank address does not match recipient address ( I mean cmon, i am ordering for my aunt staying in US. Google what you should be concerned is getting the money of course and not the person who is ordering it. I did not want my aunt to be burdened with the process of placing an order an all. Just wanted her to receive.)
6. Looked into BestBuy as new stock of LTE have arrived. Says carrier is AT&T ( Dont want AT&T since i stay in India).
7. Amazon has some seller selling at 500+ dollar ( Dont want to buy from him at that price of course)
8. Ebay is overpriced at the moment (both India and US (got paypal account for that))
So now I do not know what is the next possible step i need to take.
Can someone suggest me some way i could get this ?
If anyone has gone through the same, can you help me out if you have found a way to buy the same.
Link for Bestbuy: Nexus 7 2013 32GB LTE Unlocked - AT&T Sim
Update 1 (8/10/2013 - 10:27 AM): Checked with Bestbuy and they said that it is the unlocked version with AT&T sim. So i went ahead with best buy and ordered the product. I will discarding the sim once i get it to india.
BestBuy also throws in some free goodies like 6 months of Antivirus and 6 months unlimited Cloud Storage.
It has also given this model for a cheaper final price than Google Play Store. I got charged with lesser tax than what is normally charged by Google.
Update 2 (08/10/2013 - 10:30 PM): : My order status has changed from Order Received --> Payment Validated --> Preparing Order.
Order Status:: 1 item(s) - Order in process of being fulfilled; Usually ships in 3 - 5 days. :fingers-crossed: to get it early.
Update 3 (08/10/2013 - 11:55 PM): Order Status:: 1 item(s) shipped via STANDARD on 10/08/13 via
Tracking Number: UPS xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.
Update 4 (14/10/2013 - 5:15 PM): Shipment reached destination As mentioned as 5 days.

I have seen that thread. It mentions about the wifi versions and not the LTE one. checked the adorama and it looks good but there is not much information or pictures of the same. so i am a bit skeptical to proceed. BH photo does not have LTE.
I am looking for 2013 version. 2012 3G is available on flipkart but dont want that.
Method will work on any model as u just wants to buy from play store ,Do one thing mail to that particular website or have chat with them & ask them when they will be in stock , & they will list it on there websites. Did you tried office max ? Or ask borderlines to order they will buy for u but some bucks you will needed to pay them ...

Interesting. I found the LTE on the Best Buy website but not in stores. Almost all of the retail stores in the US do not stock the LTE. There may be some exceptions in a few well known stores like Fry's (unsure if stocking LTE) or some NYC retailers (B&H, etc).
For most US city locations the LTE model is simply not (yet) stocked in stores. In my opinion, depending on where you go in the US, the Best Buy option to ship to store in 3-5 days is best. Also, if you have some Best Buy coupons, etc, you might save some money.
Thanks for the info about Best Buy, I did not know until you mentioned it. Good luck.
It does not matter about AT&T or T-Mobile or neither because Google only tosses SIM card activation kit in the box. No other difference in the US.

In my opinion, depending on where you go in the US, the Best Buy option to ship to store in 3-5 days is best. Also, if you have some Best Buy coupons, etc, you might save some money.
...
It does not matter about AT&T or T-Mobile or neither because Google only tosses SIM card activation kit in the box. No other difference in the US.

how is it better than sending directly to a home address?
So by your second point i can go ahead and order the same and i throw away the at&t/tmobile sim-kit is it? if i remove the sim, then it is the same as normal unlocked with support for any 3G/4G capable sim ?
Bob.. thanks to you i have got some hope :fingers-crossed:

Hi,
I placed an order for Nexus 7 2013 LTE to a valid address in US and Order got cancelled..
Update: Checked with Bestbuy and they said that it is the unlocked version with AT&T sim. So i went ahead with best buy and ordered the product. I will discarding the sim once i get it to india.

No big difference ordering for in store pickup or home delivery. The SIM brand makes no difference. Any micro SIM will work if the LTE bands are supported. You might research which bands exist in your area and which bands are supported by the device.
I've seen a thread discussing setting the LTE bands using "secret dialing codes". This would likely void your US warranty. I'm not sure if it could work.
I just noticed today - Best Buy in North Carolina now shows some stores with "in stock - in store" on LTE Nexus 7. I might stop to see if they have the ones with SIM card or not.
Good luck.
Update 3: Order Status:: 1 item(s) shipped via STANDARD on 10/08/13 via
Tracking Number: UPS xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.
Late update as i was on a holiday.
Product reached the destination after 5 working days.
Currently working fine. No glaring issues seen till date.
Working with Indian SIM? Also are there any branding marks? I am also planning to get one for myself.

[Solved] MotoMaker doesn't work with Verizon corporate accounts

Solved! I was able to design a Moto X for my business account by purchasing it at a Verizon store. Motorola then emailed me the redemption pin which let me bypass the 'upgrade eligibility checking' portion of the checkout. Instead I had a Moto X in my shopping cart for $0.00 (as was suggested by people in this thread). I did have to purchase accessories in a separate order though.
Well this is frustrating. After waiting the 2-3 months for MotoMaker to be released on Verizon, I go to checkout after customizing a phone and keep getting errors when trying to check my account upgrade eligibility. After talking to CS I find out the website only works with personal accounts and basically I'm SOL.
Verizon did say I could purchase a phone in store and they would give me a pin to redeem and customize it on the website. But according to Motorola CS the website would still make me check/verify my account.
Anyway, I'm just venting. Anyone else in a similar situation?
Edit: Has anyone ordered and customized a phone using a redemption pin? When you order it that way does it still ask you to verify your account with the last 4 of your SSN? I'm still holding out hope the Motorola CS rep was wrong and I could get around the verification step...
I am not really in the same boat as you, so I dont know if my experience is helpful.
I am in a family plan, I am not the account owner, but an account manager, so I could walk in to verizon store and get an upgrade by myself. To pass the phone activation page, I have my phone number entered, account owner's zip code, account owner's last 4 digit SSN, once it get pass that page, it asked for account password again, then the system allows you to choose what line within the plan to get the upgrade. And then credit check of me, billing info of account owner, shipping info to me, and then pay.
So after completing the moto maker purchase on Monday. I got an e-mail late Tuesday that said the Motorola Activation Team discovered an issue with phone activation. I got on the phone with them, waited 1 hour before someone picked up. The Activation Team asked for the same info, my phone number, my name, account owner SSN, account owner billing address, and then the team called Verizon (so I am on hold for another 10 min), using the same info to verify the onwer's account that my name matches(?). So after they talked, and all I got from the team was "I wouldn't said your phone is shipped, but you should received an email within 24 hours."
So my guess is, you will need corporate account owner info (something other than SSN?)?

I purchased a PIN in store but can't remember if it asked for my SSN. The checkout process with a PIN on Moto Maker was actually far less painful than their entire site experience.

I am glad yours is painless. I was really stressed out on Monday, asking other people's SSN for a phone. None of the customer service I talked to suggested this way.

So you received a redemption pin from the store and went back online later to customize it? Or did you customize it and enter your payment info at the store yourself at a motox kiosk?

I did not use redemption pin. 640K did. I did not been to the store, it was all online and phone.
I am guessing you deal with Verizon up front in the store, pay the money, get the pin, go back home, get online and customize it and use the pin, and it should say $0.00
Can I buy a Moto Maker device in-store?
You can purchase a voucher for a Moto Maker device in a store, but you’ll still have to design your device through the online Moto Maker studio.

Oh yeah rereading your original message now idk why I had gotten the impression you purchased it in store. As to your original question yeah I had tried the last 4 of the tax ID which replaces SSNs on corporate accounts. But it still doesn't work due to security reasons they said...
Anyway yeah that's what I'm hoping with the pin. That's the way it *should* work.

yeah, I think getting the pin is way better, I mean you are dealing with Verizon directly, they could just look up your account right in front of you, the activation team in Motorola is really slow.
Good luck.

i'm not sure i follow.
first, i went to a VZW store, and not a re-seller. second, they processed my purchase in-store and once the purchase was done, Motorola (almost instantly) emailed me my pin. once I had the pin, i could go to moto maker and customize the phone i purchased (if you purchased 32gb, you could only customize 32gb).
when you checkout with moto maker, your cart shows $0.00 and your order is processed.

Ok thanks. Then it is just that I dealt with unhelpful Verizon employees at that store. They said they couldn't process my purchase in the store and it had to be done online... Guess I'm going back down there...
is there a different store you can try, or maybe ask for a manager? your situation is different than my own, but i would press since the only way to get an X now is through the moto maker site.

Yeah, I went back down there and convinced them I needed to purchase the phone there and it worked! Thanks for your help man.
I've been trying to do this all week also, and went to my VZW store today to do this. They were very helpful and understood that I just wanted to pay for the MotoMaker Pin, but could not get a 32GB MotoX to attach to my business account. Wish I knew how your VZW person actually did it on their end, because the 2 people helping me couldn't find a way to make it work.

Hmm, I went through the normal upgrade procedures, although it was an alternate upgrade (or whatever, where they switched upgrade from one line to a different one). First, they selected the correct line. Then it took them a second to find the phone but they searched "moto maker" (I think, or motomaker) and found both the 16gb/32gb. After that, it was signing for the contract extension and data. Finally, Motorola emailed me the pin to my account email. The shipping address was pre-entered and couldn't be changed when I checked out on Motomaker.com, which is kind of a pain because it's at my parent's house in VT...but not the end of the world.
Good luck

Getting the Nexus 6P outside US?

I have been trying for about a week now to get the 6P but the play store wont allow different credit card addresses / different billing address, so I can't get it from there, Huwawei's website has a really long wait time :/, ebay/amazon is super overpriced, is there any other website that does not use the verification that google uses and the price isnt inflated through the roof? I really need a new phone and the Nexus 6P is the best thing ive seen in a while!
Help would be much much appreciated.
Yeah try locally.
Yeah, we don't get nexus devices here and haven't for years, it's terrible . Anything else maybe =/ ?

I had no choice but buy from eBay and pay some import taxes. A little bit too expensive, but totally worth it. Greetings from Mexico.
You can try UsGoBuy.com forwarding service. They will give you a valid US address in Oregon, which is a sales tax free state.
Then use that address as a billing address in your Google wallet. You can add any international credit card there as long as you have a valid US address.
Use a VPN service from US and use incognito tab in chrome, so that Google thinks that you are really inside of the US. Order you phone, and wait until the forwarder sends it to you.
If it doesn't work, try setting up a new Google account and make sure that you use vpn and incognito tab.
I personally completed all the above steps successfully, and now I am waiting to get the amount to actually buy the device.

Honestly, it was too much work or maybe I'm just too lazy, it was cumbersome. It came out at around 597 $ (64 GB Aluminum) because of tax, and it would not accept my payment, I went on ebay and found a good seller who is selling it unopened and brand new at 620$, I didn't mind the extra 23 $, and finished the order in a few seconds, seriously, I hope Google gets it **** together with this payment thing, here's the link for anyone interested :

If you get high risk its because your account it new. Contact the Google Store support, tell them you got the error and they can release you from the high risk tag.
I have no idea what they ask for, but I some some people did it and it worked.

Also keep in mind that ordering from the US will get you the H1511 model which has bands targeted for North American carriers. Before the 6P was available locally in my country I was also thinking the same thing but found out that the H1511 model doesn't have the LTE bands my carrier uses. You can't buy the international H1512 model from the US Google Play Store and Huawei store unfortunately.

I bought it from mercadolibre from mexico, it cost about 2k more than google store, but at least I have it, it's a really cool phone and everythign is working as expected.
