[help]switching from 2g to 3g without disconnecting - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Just as the thread title says I would like to know if there is anyway to switch between 2g to 3g without disconnecting 3G ..my old LG optimus Droid can do that but ,In the note a pop-up error appears and 2g disconnects and 3g connects after sometime ..
It would be great if someone could help Me put and enlighten me ..I'm really in need of this sstuff. (Don't ask me why,it helps improve my 2g speed and Theron which only Indians will know(its a free 3g trick) )
P.s ..I know GSM wcdma auto mode does something similar but is highly unstable and keeps switching between 2g n 3g..
Anyone helping will be rewarded with a thanks

[Q] Poor 3G to 2G handover

Hey there, I enjoy reading this forum but I had little to contribute with as I am an android noob. So unfortunately my first post is a question forced by the fact that something is wrong with my DHD Thank you in advance for your advices!
The problem is - when in areas with low 3G coverage the phone keeps on searching for 3G for too long instant of seamlessly switching to 2G, which often has full signal bars. This way the phone acts as if there was no signal and sends incoming calls to the voicemail even though all it has to do is to switch to 2G as soon as 3G gets too weak.
My previous phones had no problem with this. In my city the 3G quality varies from area to area but the 2G coverage is perfect almost everywhere. So I used to be sure that my phone never really disconnects from the network, it only might have dropped the 3G signal in favor of 2G while keeping the calls and everything.
I know I can disable the 3G and stick to 2G and EDGE but this way using full data capabilities of the phone turns into pain instead of pleasure.
Just to make sure and to show I did my homework, this is NOT:
- the death grip case
- a network related problem /I suppose.../
- a problem with data connection /I have never run into any problems with this/
My questions are:
- is anyone of you experiencing this?
- is there a way to force the phone to hand over the connection from 3G to 2G quicker without "blind spots"?
- does any custom ROM improve this? /I am running the latest stock HTC DHD android 2.2 with Sense/
- is there any hint that android 2.3 gingerbread should fix this issue?
Thank you, hope to find a piece of good advice here!
I`ve found this service menu and I switched the preffered network from WCDMA preferred to GSM AUTO PRL. will see if it helps.
I havent noticed any more problems since I did the switch. I think it helped. I cannot be 100% sure but I think it did the thing for me. I forgot to mention that I also switched networks mode from Auto to European but I think this has nothing to do with the issue.
fortuneman had my answer. To access the service menu on the soft phone keypad enter *#*#4636#*#* and its under Phone Information.
Switching from 2g to 3g works seamlessly. But the other way around doesn't work that well. Nothing to do with the phone. Just the net tech that has its flaws. If your in a call and switch to 2g, the call will most certainly be disconnected.

[Q] [GT-I9505] Problem switching 3G -> 2G

Hello,
I have a problem with my Galaxy S4.
When the mobile lost the 3G signal, at home for exemple because the signal is poor, the mobile shows the "no signal" icon during 10-30 seconds in the status bar before switching to 2G signal.
For me it's not normal ; because when a mobile is in 3G mode, it has to listen 2G cells for a rapid switch in case of 3G poor signal.
I tested the transition 3G -> 2G with my Galaxy S2 and there is no problem with this mobile.
Anyone has the same problem with the Galaxy S4 ?
Thank you.
same happening here for many others too... please check this.. though there is no absolute solution to it..

Bug when switching 3g to 2g

Hi everyone, i've a little bug .. When i'm on my 3g data, everything fine, but when i'm moving place then it switch itself to 2g because of lower signal my mobile data network just stop working, it shows that i'm on Edge (the little E next to the signal bars) but i've no internet on my mobile, i have to switch off completly my mobile network then switch it on again to make it work .. still on 2g because of low signal..
The things is that when i'm traveling in train, i'm on 3g then it switch itself to 2g, and that's very anoying because i've to switch off the data then re-enable it to continue surfing ..
Thanks in advance for your help !
Up
Please can you try and say if it make the same ?
3G spends on the area in which you are. If that place doesn't have 3G then you will get 2G.
edge is slow as ´1990s modem´s internet, thats why is no internet

Yeah i know but you didn't understand what i wanted to tell..
Just try, when you have 3g (H) go to settings and enable 2g only, this will change your mobile network from H to E (which is normal) but when you're in E, you won't be able to have the mobile network internet, to have it again, you will have to disable mobile data, and re-enable it .. until then you won't be able to have internet ! So not even push notification ! the signal bar in quick settings will remain "orange"..
But if you disable mobile data and re-enable it , you will still be on 2g, but you will have internet ! even if it slow (because of 2g, which is normal too)
Bump..

FORCING a Huawei E5573s-320 into LTE only mode

Hi , Been trying my best to find a way to force my Huawei Mi-Fi to stay in LTE only mode, theres an option in the router settings to set it as 2G or 3G only but there isn't an LTE only option available and the problem is , I can get 3 bars of 4G which is much faster than 5 bars of 3G but it keeps disconnecting and automatically selecting 3G because the router thinks it's a better signal. Is there a way of modifying the firmware like the guy on this site has (wouldnt let me post a link cuz new user just add htt ) /blog.hqcodeshop.fi/archives/161-Huawei-B593-Forcing-4G-LTE-mode.ht ml because it honestly would solve all my problems connection wise. Thanks
