is the response I get when I envoke Rom Manager or any "super user program" am unable to "fix permissions". can anyone help resolve this......? unfortunately unable to use titanium to backup this has been true for nightly 163,164,165 so far...seems as though it might be a systemic problem ? will try downloading latest nightly to an alternative SD.
nook color running cm7.03image and latest nightly (SD card)
8/23 now facing force clpose issues
So I didn't know about the adobe update problem and my nook color got stuck in a boot loop so I ended up deregistering it and starting over. I rooted it per this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054027 using 4.6.16 and 4.6.18. Everything is working as it was before I was able to sideload the Amazon app store but after I download an app it doesn't install. I have the option to install with "App Installer" or " Package Installer" Both don't work. I get the same error messages that I got when i tried to install the appstore normally. "Unable to install please archive and then unarchive..." and "Parse error." I have tried installing new apps and ones already on my account, neither work. I have uncheck and check the non-market app box. I also wipe the nook and re-rooted to see it that would do anything, it didn't. Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone know how to fix it?
1. The "non-market app" (or whatever name it is) box must be checked.
2. stock ROM v1.4.1 has BLOCKED side-loading capability however, members reported that if your NC is rooted, sideload feature still functions ok.
I have checked the box and I was able to sideload the amazon marketplace
Hi everyone I'm new to nexus 7
I have unlocked BL and root installed cwm and i have just updated to SmoothROM-v3.2 via too.I'm but I have a problem that has occurred I can't download anything via any browser or even attachments via xda please can someone help

Same over here.I am running stock android (unlocked, rooted, cwm).
And i can't download anything from a custom app or browser (chrome doesn't work either)
But I've figured out that by changing the download directory to storage/sdcard0 you can download anything you want. But you can only do this with opera or dolphin browser. In my case I can't even delete my files (except for files located in storage/sdcard).I tried it with my computer but it didn't work either.I am also getting error message 492 in the play store.
I tried everything (delete (dalvik) cache, reset my system etc.) but it didn't helped.
I am also having a download issue. It seems like ever since I updated to Smooth Rom 7.8 via Goo Manager (might be coincidence) and now I can't download from Goo (I get "errored download") and when I try to download from a browser it says "unable to download". I can download apps via Play Store w/ no issue. I think it may have to do w/ permissions? or path issues? Also I restored back to when everything was working and now the issue follows. Anyone?
I also flashed smooth ROM.But now i'm on stock again and it didn't helped.I also noticed that i only can't download huge apps propabally because they need to save data on your sdcard.(with small apps like angry birds i have no problems). So it definetldy has to do something with permissions and path issues. But i have no idea how to fix that.Any ideas?

I just moved to the Nexus 4 from the HTC One S and I'm actually having a very similar problem. Previously on all the CM10 ROMs some of the websites I go to have no problem with their security certificates. However in CM10.1 ROMs the same sites will pop up an error that the site's security is untrusted and I cannot download files from them.
My question is what I would need to modify to have the same type of security certificates in CM10.1 ROMs as were available in CM10 ROMs. Is it something I could copy files from a ROM I know is working to replace in the CM10.1 ROM I am using?
I have tried using TitaniumBackup to backup certinstaller and then restore it on the new ROM but unfortunately that was ineffective. Other than that, unless I can do the above, I'm kind of at a loss. I've also pulled the .cer file from Chrome on my computer and used the certificate installer built into android but that had no noticeable effect.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
As an update I copied all of the files from the working ROM in the directory System/etc/security/cacerts to the 4.2.1 ROM and did a clean install but I am still having the same problem so I'm completely baffled as to what else to do.
double post
I have been trying unsuccessfully to install 3rd party apps. I used to be able to, but I'm not sure what happened (was an update locking this out?) - I have unknown sources box checked. I try to install from my Dropbox folder, or even directly by copying to the SD card and installing from there, but no luck. I have uninstalled any AV apps that could interfere perhaps, but no luck Any ideas why this could be happening? Thanks!
What happens when you try to install an app? Do you get an error?

NO error message. It tries to go thru the install process and then just kind of "blanks" out. I've tried pulling it from my dropbox and by putting the apps directly on the sd card. No luck. I used to be able to do this, and I don't know if maybe an update in security settings changed something? I don't think it's any AV app that is causing it to stop. It's really weird. I admit it's been a few months since I installed a 3rd party app on the phone, but am sure I was able to do so before.. I can't even install the XDA app I have on my dropbox folder (though I can install directly from the app store).
That is strange. I have no experience myself but you could try using catlog to observe some verbose output during the install to ascertain the reason for the failure.
Best of luck
