Nook color Cm7 stuck after cwm update - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had a nightly build of Cm7 on my Nook color
I was using Rom manager to update cwm so that I could flash back to original stock Rom to give this as a gift for someone. now when the device reboots it won't load into cwm or reboot into Cm7. What should I do. I don't care about the data and I already have the signed 1.4.1 cwm stock. Zip on the sdcard.

Look at my tips thread linked in my signature. Your new CWM did not get copied properly and you are now in a recovery bootloop. Look at items A8 and A12.

Instead of complaining about the way I was helping you (which, by the way, is very rude), you could have searched xda. I did tell you what was wrong.
There is nothing confusing about my signature. It is very simple. You probably cannot see my signature because you are looking at XDA on your device with the xda app which does not show signatures. If you were using a browser the signature shows. You could have long pressed on the post in the xda app and it would have given you the option of opening the post in a browser.
If you want help, look there. The only way you are going to get out of this loop is to follow the procedures in my thread.

As long as you got help that's all that matters. What could have been done differently to avoid the the raw nerves?

Dude, he was asking for HELP, not to be made fun of...
no, back to the question at hand. to root the mytouch 4g, you would need to follow one of the guides to rooting found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=866175
that link also has links to all the other things you will need, but Ill provide them here as well for time's sake.
once you do that and have s-off, you will need to flash an alternate recovery to flash a rom. Normally, you would need to install rom manager to do this, then flash clockwork recovery through there, but to install gingerbread, it requires a special version of the recovery which is not officially supported by rom manager yet, so you will need to either install through fastboot (follow the steps provided here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=852905 )
or else follow the instructions provided by TruBlue found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10670110#post10670110
once you have the right recovery installed, youll need to wipe data and caches, and then flash the gingerbread rom of your choice.
As for what apps you will need for all this: ROM Manager, as I mentioned (the premium version if you'd like to take advantage of CM built in nightly build update notifications). Titanium Backup (for backing up all your apps so you dont have to manually redownload them all, and have your app data intact on the new rom), and Root explorer (optional) for a root-enabled file manager.
Any further questions, feel free to send me a PM. Thanks to Tiger013 for compiling the list of everything, grankin for his Root how-to's, and TrueBlueDrew for his how to on install CWM 3x.

b-eock: I just want to get some clarification on the installation process. I believe the installation process for getting to MIUI changed a while ago where you no longer need to flash the cm7-initial kernel, efs backup, etc. You just have to be on 2.1/2.2 bootloaders and have CWM installed then flash the MIUI zip (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).
Would this process not be the same for GalaxySense or am I missing something?

Which kernel? When you flash MIUI, it includes it's own kernel correct? So would it be the MIUI stock kernel that you need?
And about backing up EFS, if MIUI no longer requires that step, as in it does this as part of the flash process now, why is it necessary to do it before flashing MIUI? Just trying to get clarification. Seems kind of strange to me.
This states using the new CM7/MIUI flashing procedures as well.
I will try this in the night!

GalaxySense has existed since April for the Galaxy S i9000 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044637). This is simply a port to run it on the Captivate (which has also existed since April or May by following the Escapists instructions).
Projects like this is why an AOSP based kernel is so important. AOSP removes all of Samsung's proprietary issues and allows any other ROM that has been ported to AOSP to be ported to the Captivate. CyanogenMod, MIUI, and GalaxySense are all using the same sources to build from..

Need help on installing cm9

Hi i'm new to xda. Sorry if this posted at the wrong section. If so, can anyone tell how to move it to the correct section
Anyways back on topic. BTW my phone is the gt-p1000n(latin version), android 2.3.3 stock. I tried installing CM9 by following a guide from cyanogenmod's guide to flashing cm9 for the galaxy tab (sorry unable to post link) . Everything went smoothly until it rebooted after flashing the kernel with cwm, it got stuck at the boot screen. I decided to hold the power button until it turned off. So i tried going to CWM and it worked but i seem to be unable to install the CM9 zip. It said something about status 7 error when installing it .
Can anyone be willing to tell me what i did wrong with the procedures. Thanks for your help btw. And sorry for my bad English, it isn't my native language.

You need to install overcome rom as well.
I know it is incompatible because the touch screen driver is different,
But only need that so that cm9 installer thinks you are P1000.
So flash
- overcome kernel
- overcome rom
- cm9 for p1n
- gapps
You can skip installing overcome rom by editing the updater script too and remove the assert line at the top and zip it back.
Only if you know what you are doing.

Maybe you must update the ClockWorkMod Recovery to 5.5.x.x version.

Seeing so many problems, I think you should restock.
Do you have stock rom?
If not, I still believe you can use overcome method.
Don't worry about the touch driver not compatible. You will be mostly on Odin and on recovery.
You just want to use the gb stock safe to restock with pit selected and repartition.
Then quickly flash overcome kernel and then boot to recovery and flash cm9.

CM Updates

Hello,
I have a Nook HD and it has been rooted with CM version 10.1-20130615-unoffical-hummingbid - android version 4.2.2. A few times the device has said there are updates that I should download. In settings, I see two updates available CM-10.1.3-RC2 and cm-10.1.3. My question can I just hit the download button and it will update automatically? Which one should I download? Will I lose everything that has been downloaded and I will have to reinstall everything (not a big deal)?
Thanks in advance for the guidance!
It depends on how you installed it originally. That is an old unofficial version. And it depends on whether you installed the internal CWM recovery, which I doubt since your ROM is that old.
The one you want to install is the CM10.1.3, that is the latest. If you install it over your old ROM, all your apps and settings will stay.
I recommend not using the auto update since so much is not known. But you should be safe to do it manually. Just go to the CM site and download the hummingbird CM10.1.3 zip and flash it with your bootable CWM SD.

Leapinlar - I went to the dummies thread and found the link to the 10.1.3 stable version. But the updating instructions in the dummies thread says to update via the auto update in settings. You recommended that I don't do that and install 10.1.3 over the existing one. Do I just download the 10.1.3 and then boot into recovery and install 10.1.3 that way???
If you installed CWM to internal memory per the instructions in that thread, then you can use the CMupdater. If you have not, then download the CM zip manually and boot to your bootable SD and install it.
