Note 2 - Release August, 29 - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Samsung confirms Galaxy Note 2 release at August 29th event
Galaxy Note 2This coming August 29th, Samsung will be holding an event at IFA in Berlin, Germany, where the South Korean consumer electronics giant intends to rain on Apple’s parade. How do they plan to go about doing that? The answer is simple – there are rumors (which are going around pretty strong) that talk about how Apple might just debut their next generation iPhone sometime in the middle of September, so why not take away a little bit of its edge by announcing their sequel to the celebrated Galaxy Note smartphone (some say phablet) at IFA 2012?
a Samsung spokesman said on Friday, “We plan to unveil the next Galaxy Note at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin on August 29.” That is as much as Samsung or any of their spokespersons are willing to divulge, but since this has come from the horse’s mouth itself, we would take it to be gold. Personally, do you think a release of the Galaxy Note 2 before the iPhone would dampen Apple’s sales figures? I would say that the negative impact, if any, would be minimal as most people have already made up their minds which camp they are on beforehand. Otherwise, we would not have seen Spider-Man released before The Dark Knight Rises, as the latter has still outearned Peter Parker at the box office just two weeks and running, right?

yeah I just saw this on engadget earlier. Should be interesting I guess. I'm sticking with my OG note for now.
I just hope for an official 4.1 build from samsung for my current note and I be happy. Might be a long wait though.

Will get the Note 2 on Day ! :good:

It's just announcement not release date.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium

That note the release. Thats just the date, when they are going to show it off.

I might hold off on buying the Note 2 (unless it comes to Sprint here in the USA for which I am sitting on an upgrade for my work line), but otherwise I am quite happy using my Note 1 on Straight Talk pre-paid.

Hopefully it preloaded with Jelly Bean.
And then the official announcement from samsung to update it also on original note

One positive thing about samsung is: they seem to have learned that it´s important to ship their products as near as possible to their announcement dates. Take a look at the SGSIII story: Anouncement was in May, shipment started in may as well.

Well if they announce it in August and still manage to ship it in August than they are my heroes
Only time will tell, lets just hope they will give the OG Note users a decent update to JB. From what I saw with the ICS update they just used the same TW and only changed the Android version, while GS III had a new TW and smoothness that we lacked. And I do not believe that its due to the specification difference, as if done properly our GNote would be as shutter free as the GS III.

Huh? Why do you think that? It already has been announced months ago, why should this be another announcement?!
Don´t think so. It will be the Note 2, I think.
--> "We plan to unveil the next Galaxy Note... "

How else could Samsung improve on the note 1 and make it worth a $700ish upgrade/purchase?
5.5 inch screen in a smaller body is nice but not irresistible.
Resolving the screen black clipping issue would be nice but there are some fixes/work-arounds already.
Maybe allow the note to self power external USB3.0 drives like the sgs3, also nice, but again not irresistible.
Some cool improvements i think would be realistic but never to be implemented, would be:
- Have a dual battery design, 1 very small under the lid, removable battery to allow for the larger battery to be hot swap-able (external port), thus, you'd never need to plug in ever, just swap and go. (Cant think of why they wouldn't do this).
- Same thing for the sim card design - either allow dual 3G sim and dual active standby ability, or design a hot swapable sim card port. (telecos/carriers would not like this feature at all)
- Waterproof sprayed inside out, equaling IP65 or something to allow peace of mine while boating/fishing (using the 3.5mm audio jack as the co2 spray hole to get rid of water inside after snorkeling ). (maybe costs to much? not reliable?)
- complete phone covered with thin film solar paneling, even on the front bezel. Im all for function over form. The surface area of the note is bigger than my 6v 250ma panel and turning on an app to force 2G mode, low brightness, etc. would allow some form of trickle charging to happen.
Com'on Samsung, take my free non patented ideas, before Apple patents them, only to sue others but never to to actually use/implement!

Unfortunately Note 2 won't worth it. It will have bigger, but smaller screen (5.5" 720p), same hardware as SGS3, probably with more RAM.
So I will keep my Note till Note 3.

Faster handling, faster camera, faster pen input, better pics, faster actions and probably a better soundchip.
The Note 1 was the best research object, if such a device fits to my demands. Now I hope that they´ll make it perfect.
Hellyeah, I´ll buy it^^

Not sure I want to upgrade due to the current emmc bug debacle. I've owned android phones before and have never been so scared to flash roms and mods, due to this problem. Every single day I read new "bricked note" posts from users. I see no reason to reward Samsung with more of my money until they at least fix the emmc bug.

I'm thinking of selling my Galaxy Note and wait for Galaxy Note 2 presentation, then If I won't like the new Galaxy Note 2 I'll buy the first one again (used, of course) paying it less than the one I sold. I just hope that It'll be better than GS2-GS3 switch.

Same here.
Give me 2gb of ram and I will insta-upgrade even if the other specs are the same of the actual.
Give me 1gb of ram with a octocore Cortex A15, 512gb of free space and super amoled plus ultra hd and I will not upgrade.

Is the Tab 11.6 Vapourware???

Well if it isn't why no announcement???
I mean it would be a perfect opportunity to upstage the iPad 3 by announcing a tablet with a higher resolution.
I also know that a lot of the Apple Fanboi's are not happy with the A5X chip. They don't believe the hype surrounding it and are disappointed that it only A9 architecture still.
If the rumours about the Tab 11.6 sporting dual core A15 cpu and a ARM Mali-T604 GPU is true then why wait and wait?

Look at the Galaxy Nexus.
Google/Samsung: "Here is the totally awesome Galaxy Nexus."
Customers: "When can we get it?"
Google/Samsung: "Later, don't know when or where"
*a few months later the Nexus is released sparodically in countries with little advertising*
Hopefully Samsung learned from the bothed Galaxy Nexus announcement/launch.
They need to have the annoucement and lauch as soon as possible. Build the hype to the announcement and then let the people buy it, not hype it and let the gype die down BEFORE people can buy it (See Apple does it, they have it right).
Let's see what happens. Samsung has an event planned in a few days....
Im starting to lose faith in Samsung. I was hoping for the next real tab10.1 but instead they have us tab2 10.1 ... mmm why!!! now no leaks or even a blurry screen shot of the real next tab... im now leaning toward Asus...

Agreed. the Tab2 has the same exact specs as our current 10.1s. What a drag. The Transformer Prime has really got me interested. The Tabphone (worst name ever) has a little too much going on for me to get excited about it. I'll have to buy the phone/tab/keyboard which I'm sure will cost upwards of a grand. The quadcore Prime will likely be my next purchase.

Keep in mind that the chip destined to power the 11.6 is just in sampling right now. It's not intended to be in production until next quarter. So summer would seem about right for a launch. If they get the Tab 2's and Note 10.1 out in the next couple of weeks that'll give those devices a chance to get some press and early sales. Announcing a newer better tablet before they launch doesn't really benefit Samsung. I'm also guessing the 11.6 will probably be more expensive than the iPad3 so it'll end up being a niche product anyway. The 16GB Note 10.1 Wi-Fi is supposed to be $600 itself.
Here's the latest on the Exynos 5250 that's supposedly being used in the 11.6. Samsung specifically mentions it's for high-end tablets.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 was released in June last year, but they announced the product in February and redesigned in in March. It was grueling waiting and waiting.
Perhaps Samsung is keeping it closer to the chest this time. Wants to get the product closer to a finished stage before unveiling it. Perhaps it's so awesome they don't want to tip off the competitors too early.
Hopefully it's a real product that gets released by June.

It terms of feature only good thing about iPad3 is its screen and everything else is disappointing but Apple does not sell its features but rather it sells a value which everyone craves and that is where all Tech companies have failed.
I might care about the specs, the Ram, Resolution and every other detail but an average person only thinks about what the products can offer him/her other than the tablets ' functionality and Apple is winning this game since it has become more of a fashion statement to own an Apple product which is why people do not bother to spend their nights in front of the store to get their products since they do not buy a product but rather they become part of Apple's ideology!
lol...................... I personally can care less but I do not understand why so many companies have failed to understand such a simple fact? :O

Yeah I read that the chip was only sampling in Q1 this year. I thought Samsung might have made an announcement to generate excitement within the Android community and possibly beyond (Apple), especially if the rumoured specs are true.
I also agree that it will probably cost more than the iPad, although I can't see it retailing for more than £500 for the baseline model. I think around £500 is more than reasonable if the specs are true, I mean its a generation ahead compared to the new iPad CPU.
I can't see the Tab 2 and Note 10.1 doing anything at all, they are joke of releases TBH. The new iPad has made sure of that.
If Samsung want to go toe to toe with Apple then they have to get in the ring before the fight is over.

It wouldn't be smart for Samsung or anyone else to make "big" announcments timed around the major release of an Apple product; it would get either lost or get half the attention. Knowing (from suppliers) that the iPad3 was coming out March-ish a lot of stuff was announced in February. The iPad3 fanfare should die down in a couple of weeks and then the PR machines will start up again.
The G-Tab 2's could certainly be successful if Samsung prices them below the iPad3. Pretty much all high-end Android tablets are going to be a tough sell though with a new iPad2 continuing at $399 and a refurb with a full one-year warranty at $349. Asus is flooding the market with multiple Teg3-based 10.1" tablets ranging from $399-$699 so it'll be intersesting to see how Samsung positions themselves.
With press like this, high-end Android tablets are going to be a tough sell...

They are seriously going to associate the "S3" name with this crap?
Can samsung really not make a small phone as good as iphone? Is this the downfall of the galaxy S brand image? No doubt the average person will compare this with the iphone 5 and it wont look good.

Some call it iphone and you samsung clearly dont know what you are doing here. It's not like they dont already have 4" entry level phones.

I suspect to the average Joe it is, quad core doesn't make it text any quicker or reduce the number of dropped calls and as for the camera you obviously can't squeeze the 8mp in such a small body.
Seems to me Samsung can't win elsewhere they're being lambasted for releasing the i9305 and devaluing the i9300 by relegating it to second fiddle and here for the mini not shoe Horning the S3 hardware into a smaller, more desirable?, chassis with a better screen.

Facepalm indeed. If these specs are true, the s3 mini would be lousier than the s2 and the galaxy s advanced. I would expect the mini to at least be as good as the s2

What are you talking about? The WVGA screen is not going to be anyway near as good. The iphone 5 has an 8MP camera, the 4S had as well and they are both very small phones.
The novathor chipset is not going to provide the smooth performance that people associate with the S3.
Why would a smaller body be more desirable? Many people like the big screen of S3 those who dont shouldnt have bought it. Yes the i9305 is actually a ***** move because it is everything the S3 is and more, a smaller S3 cant be that.
And you know even a galaxy S2 is fine for texting and calling so what is the point of this phone? Galaxy S2 is also pretty reasonably sized.
A 4" screen of 300PPI, a slightly under clocked quad core CPU and 8MP camera is what is needed from an S3 mini to compete with the iphone 5. Seems like apple excels at engineering more than anybody else when it comes to making a high end small device.
Cash grab yes but in this case it is perfectly reasonable because of two factors.
1. They have to make up the 1 billion dollars that Apple robbed them of somehow. Why not try and rob it from isheep that are holding back on the GS3 because of the size, they won't know any better.
2. Nobody knows if the GS4 and Note 2 will replicate the success of their predecessors, so they need to cash grab when they can. For example, I had the GS2 and GS3 but I won't be purchasing the GS4(unless I cave in) because I might be moving to Windows Phone just for a change of pace. The GS3 is the first phone in YEARS to make Apple release their iphone earlier than they wanted, it might not happen ever again. So instead of letting Apple gouge the consumers, I am perfectly okay with Samsung gouging for 2012. At least it is not Apple. Although the ipad mini might be a gouger.
Samsung made 7 billion dollars in the last quarter. They don't need to pull off something this stupid that can be damaging in the long term.
I am still hoping the device will either not be called S3 mini or will not have those sort of specs as leaked by the German site.

This wont hurt them. Nobody who bought the tab 2 7 or tab 2 10.1 knows that the tablet they bought licks ass even compared to the old 10.1. This one actually has a relatively new SOC at least. It should run decent with the lower res.

Sony chipsets are fine. Although that article is sketchy because there is no U8420, U8500 is the lowest. That L9540 sounds like a beast though, it uses a power vr while the rest use the mali 400.

For some people the S3 is too big and imho this isn't aimed at S3 buyers anyhow, they're using the S3 as a halo device to attract people in, people who might buy into SJs belief that the iphone is the perfect size. And hard as it may be for you to believe, for some, the S3 in a smaller body with a better screen would be ideal.

Same reaction happened when the A1 Merc or Porsche Boxster was released. Purists where upset!
It's just a budget model, don't like it don't buy it. But it's about time they had one.
Wonder what Apple thinks of Sammy using there word mini? Bet jurors think it's an iPod mini clone. White, rectangle, smooth corners, uses the mini name
Swyped on I9300 - XXDLIB - Siyah kernel - JKay & Thunderbolt tweaks.
They're just abusing the name of S3 here, there's no point in this device. It was expected to be a direct competitor to the iPhone, but it isn't. There's no reason for anyone to buy this. Hardware is no good, price is high, it doesn't really compete with anything.

No it's not hard at all I myself was waiting for the S3 mini.
I personally find the S3 to be too big and guess what? I didnt buy it I am waiting for someone to make a smaller device as good as S3. However if I were to give in and buy the current S3 and then later a smaller version comes then I wont have any right to be pissed off. That would like ipad users getting pissed at the ipad mini.
So it really is official then.
Less pixels to push plus JB 4.1 should allow it to run pretty close to the GS3 with ICS. It will run fine, if you can live with the low resolution. lol
This post just made me look at my current galaxy s 3 and feel instantly sick.
A lte version released after the '' flagship'' device was released,
Now they release this "mini s3" I mean come on..
Build the mini with i9305 specs, ram and lte included but don't offend my eyes and call it an s3 mini...
Samsung seem desperate.. IMO

Galaxy Note 10.1 Successor?

I thought it would be good to have a thread regarding a possible successor of the current Galaxy Note 10.1 and to post any infos and rumors here. Today I've read some leaked infos about an iPad mini rival, the Galaxy Note 8.0, which is going to be unveiled the end of February at the MWC in Barcelona.
So what do you think when and what we can expect from the real successor of the Note 10.1?
If the Galaxy S4 is going to have a eight-core CPU and FullHD resolution, I think it's also save to assume that the next model of the Note tablet will include these specs.
Any infos/rumors/thoughts?
I have read a few reports which suggest the S4 will have a 5 inch screen and the Note 3 is slated at 6.3 inches. IF this is confirmed then releasing an 8 inch Note would make no sense as Sammy would be taking sales away from its flagship devices.
I think the successor to the Note 10.1 IS the Note 10.1. LTE devices inbound. Other than screen res (which is pretty irrelevant) the 10.1 is still up there in specs.
I dont think the LTE Note is anything more than a minor update. There has to be a next generation at some point, and I think it will also be based around the S4 cpu/gpu with a 1080p screen.

I am curious what the name of the next gen Note 10.1 will be. With other sammy products, S3, S4....,Note 2, Note 3....are the names and make sense.
So, where do you go with the Note 10.1 name? The Note 2 10.1?

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Part Deux.
Note 2 10.1, just like they did with the galaxy tab 2 10.1
There's a 8" Note coming; it's supposed to be announced at MWC.
SamMobile received new information about Samsung’s new upcoming Note device the GT-N5100. At the first place the Samsung GT-N5100 will come in 2 versions GT-N5100 3G / Wi-Fi version and the GT-N5110 Wi-Fi only version. The name of GT-N5100 will be the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. Samsung’s new upcoming Galaxy Note 8.0 will use a 8.0” 1280×800 TFT (Super Clear LCD) display, 5 megapixel back camera, 1.3 megapixel front camera, 2 GB RAM, 16/32 internal + Micro SD slot. The battery of the Galaxy Note 8.0 will be a 4600 Mah one. The Galaxy Note 8.0 will also have many ways of connectivity like Bluetooth version 4.0, USB 2.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and A-GPS. The dimensions of the tablet will be 211.3×136.3×7.95 mm and the weight is around the 330g. Samsung’s new Note device will run on Android 4.2 called Jelly Bean.
Samsung want to introduce this new tablet at MWC 2013 in Barcelona we of SamMobile will be there!

As for their plans for future 10+" Android tablets that's a good question. With the fairly high spec level of the N10 at $399 that puts pricing pressure on any successor to the G-Tab 2. Samsung selling a "Samsung-ized" version of the N10 at the same price is below their typical margin. I guess they could come out with a G-Tab 3 that's higher spec than today but priced lower and spec'd lower than the N10. They could also give up that end of the market and just focus on Note tablets. The Note 10.1 has been their most successful Android tablet based on Q3 sales of 1MM a month. If that pace continues it will be a big hit for them. So I'd expect a Note 10.1 II with better specs and similar pricing about six to nine months (their typical product cycle) after the original 10.1's launch date which was August.
The SGS4/N3 rumors aren't even remotely credible. The 6.3" display rumor was one line buried in a ten paragraph story about Samsung' s (non-mobile) LCD business. The specs for the SGS4 that have been floating around have it equipped with an S Pen which doesn't make a lot of sense considering how much more an inductive display would cost and the money Samsung's spent developing the "Note" brand. Putting a 1080P inductive display on a high-volume product like the SGS4 would eat in to their margins and I can't see them wanting to do that when they charge a premium for the Note-series primarily because of S Pen and its features.
I don't really believe that we will see any "Galaxy Tab" models in the future. Some people even confuse the "Tab 10.1" with the "Note 10.1". Also the S-Pen functionality of the Galaxy Note tablets is more or less the killer feature compared to other Android tablets and to Apples iPad. I guess the name of the next model could be something like "Note 10.2" or maybe even "Note 11".
We can look for cues in related devices... A combination of Nexus 10 and ATIV Smart PC Pro! (The x86 version is called ATIV Smart PC Pro http://www.trustedreviews.com/samsu...iew_usability-touch-stylus-specs-price_Page-2)
Bring in the ATIV's docking ASUS Transformer-style keyboard
The PLS screen of the Nexus 10 but limit the resolution to 1080p (because Wacom displays might a resolution limit?)
Keep the same form factor with the front-facing landscape speakers and integrate the speakers more like the Nexus 10.
I'd really love an affordable 13"+ Note-like tablet..

It didn't sell when Asus did it which is why no one replicated it on Android. In Q3 Asus sold 250K 10" "transformers" a month while Samsung sold 1MM Notes a month. Asus' next 10" (low-end) tablet won't have external keyboard support so even they are moving away from it. With W8 out now there's less reason to try and make Android compete as productivity devices. With or without keyboards doing true productivity work like in MS Office is painful on Android. The Note Android line of tablets was smart on Samsung's part because rather than try to replicate a tried-and-failed model (Asus) they went a different direction focusing on other types of creation.

I see a note 10.1 successor coming around the second half of the year. Specs wise it'll be octa core exynos 5, hopefully somewhere around 1600x900 res or even 1080p as I find 2560x1600 to be overkill for 10" screen and you really can't appreciate it at that size. Possibly stick with 2gb ram and might then have an added 64gb option also. Of course it'll have wacom screen as well c:

I think the Note could use a keyboard option like the Transformer. Honestly the only reasons I chose the Note over the Transformer is because of the IR blaster and S-pen.
Hell, I don't even really use the Note that much anymore since I got an ultrabook. Keyboard is king.
The annual glut of trade shows fosters speculatiom about new products. It appears that the rumors about an 8-inch GN may be true. Engadget has an article and picture of a product box. I don't begrudge Samsung turning out new products to stay competitive. It will be interesting to see if LTE versions of this smaller tablet get rolled out earlier. Since, in theory, it should be more portable since it's smaller, I wonder if Samsung will include NFC.

Note 3 day one buy features

I've been wondering what, if announced, would make the Note 3 (or any other phone) a day 1 buy for me.
There's always the incremental MORE/LESS stuff - more screen, less weight, blah blah blah
The note 2 is good enough that I don't consider any of that to be a strong selling point.
Has technology/innovation peaked? What features could/would make the Note 3 a 'must buy'
for Note 2 owners (versus the expected 'guess I'll wait for the Note 4)? Or from a business
perspective, would could make people who were uninterested in the Note 3 interested in the Note 2?
I don't think the S4 won over any S3 haters.
The only recent interesting things I've seen are:
wireless charging
unbreakable screen
Metallic body (which I personally don't care about, but it sure is making the HTC One hot stuff)
All of the above I'd love, but nothing I'd sell my Note 2 to get.

I want to go mad with power lol.
Octa Core!
The hardware technology is close to peaking, I think. Flexible screens are just a marketing gimmick for me, and better radios aren't really new tech but refinements of what we already have. Screens are either unbreakable but not unscratchable, or unscratchable but not unbreakable. As for power -- every week we read about how this or that development will give us vastly more powerful batteries (rechargeable in 30 seconds, no less) but the problem is, they've been saying that for the past six or seven years and we're still stuck with the same old Li-Ion technology. Wireless charging still means leaving the phone on some device or other to charge -- only you don't plug it in. Now if my phone's battery would start charging as soon as I walked in the door, I might sit up and take notice.
The only innovations that would give me an incentive to buy a new device (the Note 99, maybe?) on day 1 would be either 128GB or more of storage without a huge increase in price, or a change in Android specs to allow apps to be stored and run from external cards. Not allowing apps to run from external storage has got to be one of Google's more short-sighted ideas, given that each Android iteration, not to mention manufacturer and carrier overlays, seems to eat more and more of available storage space for its own use.

in my country, note 2 now is about 30% cheaper compared to when it was launched. if thats the case in your area and since you are still satisfied with your note2, id wait for a few months until it gets cheaper before buying. as a bonus the official rom you buy might be more stable the the 1st release.
For me, personally, it would have to be a huge increase in onboard storage (I'm thinking 128GB minimum). Also, I would prefer a dedicated micro-HDMI port, instead of crappy MHL. These two things would make me get the GN3 on release day, but if not, I'll stick with my GN2 for the time being.
1080p, Exynos Octa w/LTE, more storage...yeah, I'm probably going to get it at launch. Those are enough to excite me.

Frontal stereo speakers, Adreno 330, Snapdragon 800, metal body, 1080p 64 GB storage... these things are desirable, but still probably wouldn't buy it... and definately not on day one. Just recently got my Note 2
More likely when I switch, it will be to the Note 4... or perhaps some nice HTC/Sony. Maybe even a Nokia EOS, if such a thing ever breaks free from the rumorland....
I want a note 3 with all s4 features minus lag, screen tint and smearing issues (realistic wish list). It would be enough for a year at least. I would prefer a screen of 5.7 inch max, but it should never go beyond 6.0. The battery should be around 4000MAh. I don't care about body but design at least should not be carbon copy of note 2/s4. The minimum storage should be 32gig.
Larger screen without increasing the body size.
Larger battery, and I don't mind making the body slightly thicker either. For me battery life is more important than have it be under 11mm. I think 12mm is fine.
HD display, without a doubt.
SPen upgrade. I love the current generation, but if they can't make it any better then that'll be fine by me.
Next generation processor which I'm sure will be in there.
An awesome camera This one is good, but not that good. I'd much prefer something better.
I think that's it! If they add on a capacitive home button and an extra gig of ram I'm sold.
Thinner, lighter, better battery, full hd and 13mpix camera at least (or better if they can squeeze it). Battery life is fine with me. Processing power I don't care about anymore (it's plenty enough already).

Samsung will never set 32gb as minimum storage. They rather will cut it even more (like in galaxy s4).
Have to say I am impressed with my Note2 so far the best Android phone Ive had. Its the only phone I have not had to tamper with to make it faster. I did root it but no custom rom. Never had it die on me, been using it close to a year now and it still amazes me. Awesome device. The Note 3 would have to be significantly better to justify an upgrade. I agree with with what someone hasmentioned already, i believe we have reached a peak now....and only encremental changes will come. Else if they do decide to go all out with the Note 3...we will all be guinea pigs....like with the first samsung galaxy s.with the note 2 we have the perfect balance between battery life and performance. I still carry a spare battery around...just incase.

Note FE to Note 8?

Anyone jumping to the note 8 following launch this weds?
I think for the first time since the note series was launched, I for one will not be jumping in feet first for the following reasons:
My S8+ was worth £240 less after 6 weeks of ownership.
The cost of the note 8 will be ridiculous (almost £1000 going by reports) and based on the above I should be able to pick one up at 40% off in 2 months time!
Loving my note 7 mk3....err note FE.
Samsung are not indicating any discounts for note 7 victims therefore my loyalty is waning.
Anyone else think phones are starting to cost too much?
I will never get rid of my FE...never lol.
Im with you on the 8 though for once I wont pre-order etc etc...
Ive got a few issues with it:
Fingerprint reader still in a stupid spot...my nexus 6p had it in a perfect spot.
Dual camera assembly/bump appearance absolutely ruins the asthetics of the rear of the phone.
Not a huge fan of the screen aspect ratio
And sammy should be discounting the 8 for those of us that went through that train wreck of a recall.. i bought my FE full price bought my S8 plus full price...ive stayed loyal to sammy after all the BS last year. They owe former note 7 people a break.
The colour selection stinks black, dark blue or maple gold only? Wtf?
My s8 is maple gold and its okay but I wouldnt buy it again.
Wheres silver? Silver is what i want.
So yeah i may go another route this year. V30, pixel XL 2, mate 10, HTC U11 hell maybe even the iPhone 8 plus version lol..
sent from my Note FE, S8 plus, or S6
With all the "hands-on" videos coming out I admit it looks very pretty. But I feel like I made the right decision with the Note FE. Like some have said before I just don't like the aspect ratio, I get that its more space for reading and multi-window but for me I watch alot of videos.... and from having the s8+ I didnt like the crop to fit option.
The only major "pro" I see is the Camera, but I dont feel its worth selling my FE and picking up the Note 8
The battery in the Note 8 seems to be lacking a bit, but im sure with the 835 it is power efficient.
This is all just my opinion, If i was given one I would use it, but for now Im enjoying my Note FE with the option to root, no AT&T bloatware, and super cheap accessories.... plus it a phone that no one else will have (I doubt I will run into any of you in public lol)

I've got my Note FE on the way, but, despite my preferences for it vs the Note 8,part of me is a sucker for new hardware.
T-Mobile US has a $0 down lease w/option to buy (JOD), it's tempting, especially since I can "Jump" to another phone in as little as 30 days.

Mind if I ask what made you go back to the FE? I saw your original listing on Swappa (and am still kicking myself for not buying it when I saw it) and just noticed you re-bought one yesterday.
I've been on the fence about getting one for awhile now... I've been using an S8+ for about 2 weeks now and it's too flippin' tall for me to use one-handed (without the one-handed mode). And I hate that #[email protected]%# Bixby button (work phone so not customizing it for myself). It's just... hard for me to justify spending $700+ on this thing, even though it ticks all my boxes and I prefer its design over the N8.

I sold the 1st one, anticipating a DualSIM version coming out & thought it'd be a good time to sell it,while there's still interest.
Took that $$$ & bought an Asus ZenFone AR on eBay,sent it right back after discovering this particular model only had Band 2 support (Amazon's has better North American support, but a 2-4 week wait, too impatient).
Thennnn, turned right back to the Note FE,everything else after the original Note 7 paled in comparison.
One of the major draws for me to the Note 7/FE is the overall dimensions & feel-in-hand.
The performance & battery life are right up there.
Not a heavy S-Pen user, but, same as with the now MIA I-R Blaster,it's nice to have when you want/need it.
The Note 8 is likely not much more than a curiosity, but, who knows,it may grow on me. (Just as you,I I didn't care much for the S8+,ditched mine after about six weeks)
If it ends up sitting unused for days at a time,I'll JOD that much sooner to the V30.....
Pricing on the FE in the future, that's a tough call, but, current pricing seems to indicate that if you wait just a bit,the Gold version could soon dip below $700.
The Onyx Black FE is fetching top dollar,if that's what you want,I'd keep watching Swappa..............

Sweet, thanks for the reply.
I always buy my phones outright (I'm prepaid) and usually use a phone until it dies, hence struggling with the decision. I just want my physical buttons and front-facing fingerprint reader...
Only thing really keeping the N8 in consideration right now for me is the dual camera... been trying to figure out what differences there are between the main N8 camera and the S7/N7 camera (since they're using the same sensor). The secondary lens just doesn't seem that useful to me.
And yeah, I'm after the black one, which seems to be the only one going up in price on ebay. There are a lot fewer listings now than a month ago, not sure if that means no more stock for the distributors/resellers to buy and then flip.
