Those are probably the best CM7 builds that you will find for DEFY's on Froyo kernel, as Maniac has been devoted to CM7 developing up until today, while others have switched to CM9 and now CM10 and do work for other devices, too.
Highly recommended

I am upgrading from Froyo 2.2.1 and need a stable not nightly. Is this the one https://github.com/maniac103 I can use?

maniac103
Correction: https://github.com/maniac103/android_device_motorola_jordan/downloads. Is this a full Rom not nightly of Maniac 7.2 with all the components I need to flash to my Defy froyo 2.2.1 . I guess I need GAPPS flashed also. This is my first flash and I want to get it right.

It's not a stable. A stable is a version witch had no new features and only bug fixes for at least a week. So that you have no half working features.
As there have not been new features after the last stable, these are probably better. To get the "official" cm version visit get.cm but really nothing is official about a custom rom!
You'll be OK with maniac's build.
Yes also the gapps (see they are gb)
And wipe from the custom recovery!

Thx. What I meant was does it have all the components to flash from Froyo 2.2.1 including the correct kernal. Thx again

Finally I get the answer. It is a nightly and needs a kernal!

Gingebread official update for Defy?

Is there a chance to get an official Gingerbread update for Defy? or at least, could you tell me what's the best ROM based on Gingerbread I could use? there's a lot of them, and I don't know which one is the best :/ thanks!
No, the defy is not a Motorola mainstream phone,no more updates, i recommend cm7, is a froyo kernel gingerbread rom
Motorola Defy CM7 RC 1.5 OC 1GHz
There is no offical Gingerbread ROM for Defy and there will never be one. Period.
But who needs a bloated stock ROM when CM works flawlessly.
Download the CM7.
Or use one of Walter's port of Defy+ Gingerbread ROMS.
Either works perfectly fine.
PS: Both have the exact same hardware except for the battery (and camera in case of green lens). So, you can just use the official ROM and just replace the battery/camera files.
Thanks for the advices, It's a shame, I've been with official releases but I guess it's time to change, I will try CM7, thanks!

Here, is the last cm7, follow the instructions of the post!
Good luck!

What about ICS? Any official ports?
Gingerbread is coming with defy+ but there is no news that defy will get official ics

KANG means nothing but its an Experimental Build (Nightly) .. If u have GB kernel try Epsylon3 CM7 Roms for Defy+ (GB kernel) ..
and regarding KANG if the build is named Addressing Defy or Jordan, then its for Defy.
and if its named addressing GB kernel or Defy+ then its for Defy+ !!
Thanks for the informations I know about epylons3 CM7.2 nightly builds but on his versions the camera doesn´t work 100%! It´s overhead on my defy.. so it doesn´t usable for me
...I´ve tried out the "KANG" version of CM7 and it doesn´t work on the defy+ kernel !
but the headline of kangs thread means that it was also for the defy+. Thats not true!
On my brothers Defy the ROM run very well and smooth!
..I hope i can flash this ROM very soon!
Is it possible to make a "extra" version for the defy+/defy with new kernel ??
Because i get crazy about the new kernel and the nighlty builds (epsylon3/quarx)
for defy+ works very good and fast but the camera is overhead.
I´ve tried to replace the camera.apk from another build, but it doesn´t help me to fix this problem.
i think it just mod the lockscreens,i prefer Ep3 's builds.

If it is given that it is for defy+..then i suppose u need to flash GB kernel along with the ROM [may be that ROM is having Froyo kernel]..try it.. that may work..and right now Eppy and Quarx are working on Defy CM 7.2 & CM9..once the boot loader is unlocked , i think defy+ will have a lot of scope..think they are facing some problem with GB kernel..

You can use Epsylon3 last nighty simply adding those patchs.
Ok! Thanks "elTorres" I´ll try the newest nightly and these patches and look how it work Thanks for all the fast help !
ok, i´ve tried it with the newest nightly (7.2) for defy+
and the two patches from [] AL [] (big thanks!)
-made stresstest, etc., testphotos! and wow it works perfecly!
Cyanogenmod is still a fast, beautiful rom !

How's the performance of CM9 on Defy?

Hello I have a Defy MB525 and I'd like to give it an upgrade and since there's no official Android releases above 2.2 I'm thinking about installing CM) which is 4.0 based right? I'd like to know how's the performance? does it become slower or how many bugs are? would you recommended it? thanks in advanced, it looks really good so I'd like to try it!
dear friend, trust me .you'd better use the CM9 latest by quarx's.Now we all taste the JB already
anyway the Quarx's CM series(CM7,CM9.CM10) are very perfect on Defy.
You must to try for it!:good:
for everyday rom, try cm9 by epsylon froyo kernel. I am using it and there's no issue or bug I have encountered (I use my defy as a phone).
What are the major differences between Quarx's and Epsylon ROMS? thanks you both for the info!:good:
there is no difference in both builds, afterall both are ics...
why don't you try both using multiboot and decide yourself.
I will give them a try, both releases can be found on Development section right? any link? thank you!
EDIT: Now that you mention it? how can I use multiboot? could I have stock rom and custom rom?

There is multiboot thread in development section, just go through it and you will find out how.
And yes you can have stock rom as base rom and custom rom as virtual rom as long as you have same kernel for both.( for mb525 its froyo kernel)
Btw the link for multiboot - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1364659
Thanks! Do you have by any chance the links for CM9 by Quarx and Epsylon? thank you!

NOT RECOMMENDED. The performance you'd get from a ROM installed to your microSD (that's what multiboot does!) is inferior to having installed in the ROM partition of the phone.

Cm9 by epsylon - http://defy-cm.net/
And by quarx - http://quarx2k.ru/
I will skip the installation of MultiBoot for now, but I will try either Quarx's or Epsylon's ROM, thank you!!

How about battery performance in the Xperia ROM?
Hady
Xperia D possible that is fast and smooth but I doubt whether stable because it has a lot of extras and goodies.
If you want a stable rom to select the latest Quarx 09.04
where can I get the latest Quarx 09.04? Is it CM?

I'm sorry, the latest version is from yesterday.
Thanks. I tried the CM9 ROM, but it was not as fast as the CM7,2, maybe because ICS/JB requires more CPU power than GB? Also battery performance is bad.
I am looking for something stable/fast/good battery performance. what do you recommend?
Hady
Forget ICS or JB based roms—there are no stable ones for Defy, or with good battery life. I've tried all of them, and I always run into problems. Your best bet is to stick to CM 7.2 stable or nightly: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458729
Thanks Glaux. I am currently using CM 7.2 nightly latest, and also tried the latest stable one, but seems that my deep sleep percentage is very small in CPU spy.... how can I make it go in deep sleep? how can I know what is stopping it?
Hady
I'm running the newest Quarx CM10 rom.
Very stable for me.
I've made some minor modifications with Titanium Backup, removing all the apps that i dont need.
thank u for ur reply..can u send the link of Quarx CM10 rom and what r all the minor changes you did.
In my experience, wajkiUi and MS2Ginger are two most stable roms. Both of them are GB and supports 720p video recording with no bugs. I personally prefer wajkiui and trust me i have tried most of available roms on xda for defy.
Thanks to hard working developers :good:

CM9 is the best option for you. Go to uncledan's android mirror to get CM9
I'm using CM10 27/05 but it does have few bugs.
All the roms on that thread are for the Defy and Defy+.

Quarx' CM10 18/03 was pretty stable, no bugs at all for me. 27/05 is considerably faster though. I'd say CM10 is a safe bet as it's quite mature by now. Be aware that some of these builds are marked as experimental (the ones with the red colour)
I am using Quarx' CM10 17/2 with Blechdose 22/3 Jellyx kernel... It's very smooth and stable
thanks you all...(i mean it)
decided to try cm9 ...
downloaded the last one from http://defy-cm.net/defy-cm9-nightly/ (its Quarx)
flashed the OS , its gr8 for now. will update soon .
Going to install basebandswitcher 4.
and also battery calibration tool after a full recharge !!
inbetween one dbt ..im using a DEFY mb525 .(prev os was cm7.2). So my kernel will be a FROYO One . R8?
Should i install GB kernel for better performance ...?
cm9 of Quarx Vs cm9.1 of epsylon
like i said i installed Quarx cm9
now found a cm9.1 by epsylon http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353003
anyone tried this !!

Yes, there's not much of a difference. You don't need to install any kernel.
But in this thread it shows i need to flash kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1618904
r8 now my phone shows kernel as 2.6.32.9-gb ....
got kernel-gb-234-451-134-signed.zip from http://defy.wdscript.fr/kernel/
Before that my Questions are
should i update the KERNEL .. its some threads its shown Kernal Update is necessary ...
