Hey Guys,
Today when I was trying to unlock and root My nexus 7 WugFresh's Toolkit worked for the unlock, which was brilliant!
But for some reason I could not root, so after about 6 hours of searching the web I found this guide to do the rooting part!
Unlock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475
Root: http://forums.androidcentral.com/ne...c-linux-how-unlock-root-flash-recovery-4.html
After this I simply installed busyBox free from the play store
This is not my work, Just want to give something back to the android community!
Thanks to WugFresh and Zero Neck,
-Nbsb-

u can use nexus toolkit ... i use that tool to root my nexus s 4.1.2
This is what I used:

Hi I used this tool to unlock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475
It support Nexus S (every versions) and it is completely automatic and guide you with easy step in driver installation, unlock, backup and root 4.1.2.
Or after unlock, using this tool you can just reboot in temporary custom recovery and manually flash SuperSU to gain root on 4.1.2.

Hello Everyone,
Just got my Nexus 4 the other day and have loved every minute spent with it. I'm trying to root it using the apparently fool-proof cf-auto root, but --despite apparent success-- have been having issues installing the fastboot drivers. Despite downloading and installing the appropriate drivers with the Nexus 4 toolkit, following all the instructions, troubleshooting a bit (switching from MTP to TPT USB mode to get those drivers as advised at the end of the toolkit instructions), I have had no luck at all with cf-auto root. The first step, where I think it says it will unlock the bootloader before the root, I get "The system cannot find the path specified." The phone is recognized and drivers have been automatically obtained from the internet exactly when they were supposed to be, according to the step by step instructions in the toolkit and the cf-auto root guide.
I really can't wait to get this thing rooted. Anyone have any idea as to what I can do? Also, what exactly do I need to uninstall/reset so that I can start the process from scratch in case that's necessary? Thanks so much everyone. Can't wait to have some actually fun questions to ask...

forgot to mention that i downloaded android sdk for drivers too.
Hey there XDA, excuse me if what im about to ask is silly, i have been out of the android scene for a while, i switched over to the dark side when my X10 died on me, however i have now received a Nexus 7 Wifi running 4.2.2.
Im planning on unlocking/rooting and then switching to a custom rom using Wugfresh's Nexus Toolkit but after reading a few threads here and there im scared of accidentally bricking the bootloader, from what i've read this is because people accidentally use fastboot erase, but is there any risk this will happen while just unlocking with Wugfresh's toolkit?
Ive tried googling for an answer but not getting exactly the answer i need.
Thanks in advance
Unlocking the bootloader, installing a custom recovery then flashing a custom ROM is very easy to do manually so I don't really see a need for a toolkit.
This.

It may seem overwhelming at first but just do a bit of reading and follow the posted instructions that way IF something goes wrong you have the means and ability to fix it instead of saying the toolkit broke my tablet and I don't know what to do.

What I noticed are the drivers are well hidden on the board...
Key is the drivers, the rest of it is child's play.

So after a year of owning a Nexus 7, I have finally decided to root it, however, I have a few questions.
1. I have not updated to KitKat yet. Should I update to KitKat first before or after?
2. What is best to use to backup my data? Will it back up everything including apps, files, settings?
3. Do I need anything or do I need to do anything to prepare for root?
Also, I noticed the Wug Toolkit. Will that do everything for me in just 3 - 4 clicks?
Thank you for your time.

I suggest you update to kitkat first before rooting. For backups, use Carbon as it does not require root. You can use wugs toolkit as it is updated to root the device with the latest supersu. You can also use the toolkit to flash kitkat with just a few clicks.
Hey,
I decided after a couple of months to finally root my Nexus 4. I followed a manual guide, I didn't want to use a toolkit because I'd figure I'd learn it the proper way. Anyhow, If I go to the bootloader it clearly says it's unlocked. As the guide told me I then went into the clockwerk recovery and installed SuperSu 1.89.
I then proceed to restart my Nexus 4 to then be told that by SuperSu that there are no binaries installed and thus has no root access. It has been driving me nuts and I have spend 3 hours troubleshooting with google searches and experimentation because I hate to just make a thread without researching myself first. what am I missing?
Thanks, a lot.

If you flashed the correct Supersu zip, then it should have also installed binaries. Did you install the zip from Chainfire's site?
Try flashing it again. Sometimes it doesn't seem to stick.
