New Vega User Q? - Vega General

Hy I just purchased a Advent Vega tablet and it came with the VegaCream installed already
After reading around the forum I cant figure out if my Huawei mobile broadband dongle will work on it or not
Thanks for your time

It will work as long as it is compatible (most Huawei's are) and you have the CD rom emulation on the modem turned off. To do this you need to send a command to the modem though putty. You can do this on a droid but I find it easier on a PC. Search for "huawei" "CD rom emulation" and "putty" on google for guides and the tools to do this.

Mobii with Advent Vega Firmware / MoDaCo-Rom-r8 and Debugging with Eclispe

Hi *,
i have a big problem here. I'm developing with Eclipse and the android sdk. Everything works fine. I can debug in the Emulator as well as on my HTC Desire HD. No problems. But i can't debug on my POV Mobii (modded with Advent Vega Firmware and MoDaCo R8). I can set it to USB-Debugging mode. But it doesn't appear under the DDMS section in Eclipse.
I'm running Windows 7 32Bit. If i try to install the original USB driver from Advent Vega oder the driver that comes with the MoDaCo package Windows says that it's not compatible with my device. Tried out some things for over two hours now but nothing works.
Does anyone had the same problem and perhaps knows how to solve it?
Greetings
EDIT: I've found this: h-t-t-p://android.modaco.com/content/advent-vega-vega-modaco-com/327084/what-to-do-when-your-usb-drivers-are-wrong-win7-64/
Now everything works fine
Thanks i was unable to make it to work in windows.
FYI: in linux it works with no problems
hi, it's not working for me! he can't recognize the drivers from modaco package, any clue ?
Hey, i managed to get it work! thanks anyway

[Q] help for nook touch rooting from China

Hi everyone, I've been trying to root my nook2 and I've been over all the steps many times, and I can't achieve ADB over USB or WIFI.
I've used the nooter technique and the device looks rooted, I can log into Gmail and get new mail, but as youtube is blocked in China, I can't login to youtube as i'm supposed to in the process described on nookdevs. (is youtube loging really important?)
I can install apps from the market, but can't use the search field (no results, no matter what I type).
I decided to try adb access from there anyway (before asking for help...), and here's where I'm stuck :
I installed the light sdk combo found here : "hXXp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=910008" and followed all the steps
I can connect to the device using wifi ADB, but the shell cmd doesn't get me anywhere (I get a hash mark and an endlessly flashing underscore)
I can't get adb access over USB, because no matter how many times I try uninstalling the basic drivers in the device manager(all of them), they always come back within 5 seconds when I plug the nook (and yes, I seem to have disabled automatic driver update in Gpedit.msc)
when I try to load the adb drivers manually over the preexisting ones it tells me no suitable drivers where found in my *.inf file (or that it already has the best driver for the device)
I've been over everything (apparently) countless times and I'm still stuck.
do you have any idea what the problem could be?
If I had to guess, it's either :
-It's not completely rooted (for lack of youtube login) so it will always be recognized as a Nook and nothing else in the device manager
-the factory defaults nook drivers are lurking somewhere on my laptop and prevail over the adb_usb drivers.
-there is another move to disable automatic drive install in Gpedit.msc which I haven't attempted yet.
Please if you have any ideas... My nerdy ego is absolutely hurt by this and it's begging for relief.
I've been thinking about this, and if I could just set up the android version of astrill directly in the micro sd (directly set up on nooter) I could then access youtube and finish the job properly.
Do you know if it's in any way possible to do that?
I wonder if you'd be able to use Orbot to be able to gain access to Youtube...

Read this, its all contained on my manual tutos, adb is gained just by changing uramdisk, there is one for wifi and another for usb, please, check which one you are using, then, follow this:
Here there is a list of all the tutos:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1380400
and here the ones you should read:
Setting up adb manually on the nook touch:
Making the manual process LESS PAINFULL
Setting up root access on NST through adb and installing busybox:
Hope it helps.
For the youtube thing, just set adb correctly (when you get it right) sideload an app to use a proxy, or tor, or anything you like, and try to login on Youtube.
I'm really sorry for not responding to this
I managed to get it rooted in the few days after my post, and I didn't any email notifications of your replies (didn't check on control panel, i'm new here, please don't hurt me )
I found a chinese source for rooting (a seller on taobao.com explained it. The Chinese are quite fond of the nook because it's the only foreign e-reader you can use to read Chinese apparently, and Chinese e-readers are both more expensive than the nook AND crappy.
Anyway I painstakingly translated it and got it to work
what you tell me about the proxy is new to me though, I thought android couldn't run a proxy, that's great news not just for youtube but the zillions of website China blocks and that I could use my nook to check, I'll have a go at it when I get near a wifi network.
cheers

T-Mobile Jet 2.0 USB modem success with TF101

Not sure if this is the correct forum, but I hope this helps others who are trying to use 3G/4G usb modems. (Mods: Please move or delete if this is not appropriate post, thank you).
I was successful in using a Tmobile JET 2.0 usb modem with TF101 on both:victory:
Megatron with Guevor kernal and
Revolver with Harmony kernel.
The modem is Huawei E366. The main problem I faced is disabling the CD/SD drives. I tried all the AT commands but was unsuccessful in turning it off. I even unlocked it (using DC unlocker) and finally break open the modem to see if I can disconnect the CD and SD drives!!! mad: well to be frank actually I did it in frustration as a last step, the modem still worked later!).
Then I came across using the usbmodeswitch to disable the cd/sd under linux and further search landed me on a page with PPPwidget (which automatically does it in android).
Cannot post link directly since my posts are <10, search google for PPPwidget
I used PPPwidget and entered the tmobile apn settings, used 'none' for un/pw and it connected right away. I did disable automatic detecting on pppwidget as it gave me an error initially.
I hope this helps those who are trying to use other 3g/4g usb modems with their tf101.

[Q] Install Android on Samsung B7320

Hi,
I have a Samsung Omnia Pro B7320 handset, that wrongly upgraded to At&t Windows Mobile 6.5 that was developed for Samsung Jack by me and started malfunctioning... ! LED flashing, no battery charging, some keys not working &....
This story is for about 4 years ago. On that time I searched for a solution to get it back to its original ROM but my attempts were unsuccessful. So I dropped it in drawer.
Now I decide to use it as an ARM board like raspberry with Linux or Android. Is any one can help me?
I searched in the net but found nothing. There were some solutions for some other Windows Mobile devices, but not for B7320.
Here I want to clear that I don't want to use it as a mobile phone, so it is not important that some drivers will not be working...
All I want from this device is an ARM processor board with USB that make me able to access its OS via any type of connection.
Thanks
the following devices
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdamaster&posted=1&cpu=a7225
share the same chipset with your phone. you can find a ROM matching your chipset and try to port it to your phone.
type some of the phone models to xdaforum or on google and try to port.
some basics on how to port you can find typing "android porting" etc on google
because your phone has win mobile you need haret to boot your android ROM
hope i helped

[Q] Unlock ZTE Open C

I want do do some development for Firefox OS and I have a ZTE Open C to work on. But I can't unlock the device. I've downloaded the Open_C_upgrade_Tool and run it in serveral environments. I only have a Mac and so I installed Bootcamp with Windows XP but the Upgrade Tool just says scanning for device ... and never finds it! Also tried it with XP running under VMware Fusion - the same result the UpgradeTool just searches for the ZTE and never finds it.
Before I pluged the ZTE to the system via USB I took out the SIM-Card and the SD-Card even tried with only SIM-Card out but again no success.
So can anyone here give any help with this. I read on other post that people had the same problem but there is no answer on this matter ...
And without unlocking my device it's no use to start any project.
Thanks for any help in advance!
Hi,
You can follow this guide to flash a the rooted image on your device (I assume you have an EU version) :
(Warning : not sure if it works on US version)
http://builds.firefoxos.mozfr.org/doc/en/devices/zte-open-c-eu
(and optionally update FirefoxOS with the provided -unofficial- builds)
The best would be to use a real Windows computer, I don't know if it works in a virtual machine for sure. But be sure to install the usb drivers (download link provided in the above guide) before trying to flash.
I have done it on my Open C and now I'm currently testing FxOS 2.1 (aurora)
