I have Asus Transformer TF101 which has 4.03 on it and build 9.2.1.27 installed, I would like to give the above rom a try. I have rooted it and according to root checker it is rooted and as superuser 3.1.3 installed and busybox.1.7.1 on it. I beleave I now have to install clockwork recovery on it. Which version do i need for this build and do I need to make any backups before flashing rom. I am new to this and dont want to brick the transformer.
with thanks

You should always make a nandroid.
You downlaoad the latest arhd and super wipe first.
Go to recovery mode
Flash super wipe first
Then arhd
Then reboot device

I am also about to load Android Revolution on to my stock 8.6.5.21 (HC3.1) non-root.
But I would like to either backup or download a copy of the stock ROM 8.6.5.21, (apparently the last working stock ROM) before proceeding.
However, no stock ROM 8.6.5.21 can be found on the Asus website. AFAIK, ROM backup tools require root, which I don't have. If I root, that would change the rom before I can backup.
I need some suggestions.
up, any ideas?

Is it just me or are there no stock rooted deodex or odex roms of the latest OTA that i can flash??
The process to go from a custom rom to the stock ota.. then reroot... then do what ever seems odd given every other android device i have used or flashed for friends seem to always have a stock rooted rom.
Why nothing for the acer that i can flash right from cwm? Like a zip or something.

Obviously you don't read the development forum. It's super easy for 3.1. Just search the forum for rooting 3.1 download the apk and press root. Then download acer recovery from Android market. Once inside the app click install CWM
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Then hit reboot into recovery. Once in CWM go to backup and restore and restore currunt Rom. After you restored go to restore current Rom to insure the device can read your memory card, if you can find it then you are good to go.
After you have downloaded a custom Rom install it on your SD card. Then boot into CWM by powering off and power back on by holding power button and -vol. Once inside go to install zip, and make sure you can see the custom Rom before wiping anything. If you see it the wipe data, cache, system, battery status, dalvik cache. Then install the zip.

why would i ask for a stock rooted rom if i wasnt already rooted....?
you didn't even read what i asked for did you..... seriously did you? no not even one word. all you saw was stock rooted rom and went off on tissy about something i already did 5 minutes after i opened the box.
i am rooted, and already flashed thru 4 different roms to find one i like and frankly, i am fine with stock until someone else makes one more to my liking.
i said that it seems odd not to have a stock deodexed rooted rom available to flash.
i dont need anyone to tell me how to root/flash this thing, nor did i even remotely ask for such help, i asked a simple enough question of why go thru all the download the OTA, decrypt it, take the update file flash it, then reroot it, then do whatever...
why not just have a Stock_rooted_Deodexed_1.xxx.xx.xx.zip as a flashable zip. like just about every other device on this website.
you spent alot of time typing out all that for no reason had you read a little more of what i typed and was asking for.
i have tried to cool stuff before but cant get things to work on my system and i ended up giving up and trying to mod roms and repost them here, otherwise i would be happy to make a stock rooted deodexed rom to flash.
so, in the end the question still remains is there any particular reason why all these OTA updates have been released and yet no one has made a stock rooted rom to flash via recovery?
it also eliminates the possibilities of screwing up a flash to stock, or flashing to stock and then not being able to root, or not being able to install CWM
Best you'll get is something like HoneyVillian
I tested this out with both the transformer and slider. No need to do anything complicated.
ASSUMPTION:
You have CWM installed.
INSTRUCTION:
(1) Download the latest firmware from asus website.http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=20&s=16&m=Eee%20Pad%20Transformer%20TF101&os=32
(2) Unzip it. Inside, you should find another zip file. Place that zip file on your micro sdcard.
(3) Plug in your micro sdcard. Go into CWM.
(4) Wipe data/ factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe davik cache.
(5) Flash in the zip file you just got from the asus website.
(6) Once restarted, you will be back on non-rooted stock rom and stock recovery.
Yeah eyesoftsys posted the same thing a while back

Use RecoveryInstaller to flash CWM recovery.
With CWM recovery you can flash ROMs.

Download and install this app. Run the app and grant superuser access. Then flash the custom recovery. This will install cwm recovery. Then go to the development section and browse the custom roms. Download the rom of your choice, place on sd card, boot into recovery (shut down, then hold the volume down key and power key, then when prompted on screen, press the volume up key) Before flashing a new rom, u will want to do a full wipe first. (back up any needed data first) You will want to install from zip file. Choose the rom you downloaded, and now you have a custom rom installed.
Worked great

This worked perfectly and it fixed my USB issue from flashing the repacked ICS update. I love that Asus made the App Backup tool so I could just restore all my apps without Titanium!! So awesome!! Thanks again!
This isn't working for me? when i install the .zip from the asus website it says its completed installation but when i boot the tablet back up nothing has cahnged and CWM remains ??? is it because i have a tf101g? Ive also tried flashing stock asus recovery and it seems to work but then when i reboot i still have CWM ??
Will this work if I flash the German over rooted ww-version?
Can't believe it will be that easy also I don't wanna brick my tab.

Sorry for the question if it has been answered already, I didnt keep up with the Android news for a while and now Im super confused.
I have an A500 3.2 with a rooted stock ROM. I also have the bootloader, I guess the name is CWM that I helped me install the rom from the mem stick.
Now since the ICS for A500 is avaiable what is the easiest path to upgrade my device.
I thougt is just a matter of finding the right binary file for the rooted stock version and use the CWM to load that.... But after browsing the forum i got super confused with the multitude of roms and bootloaders and utilities for cleaning partitions etc...
I'd really appreciate a good answer here. Can i just load a rom file(which one?) in my old CWM? Do i need to upgrade the bootloader? (how?) I dont care about the data on the device, that can go away...
Thanks in advance!!!
since you're still on HC bootloader, your easiest method would be to flash a ROM that works on both bootloaders like flexreaper
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517181
just wipe data, system, etc and flash the new ROM in CWM recovery

That assumes you don't want to go to a new bootloader though.
How can I remove/replace CWM with aN ICS bootloader? And why a bootloader whould care about the host OS in the first place?!

CWM is not the bootloader. It is the recovery application.
The best way is to follow the instructions civato put in this post...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25381131
You'll end up with a rooted tab running the ICS bootloader and CWM 1.7.2. After that flash Flexreaper RF1_rv3 using CWM and you're good to go. Remember it's best to make sure you have all the needed files on your SDcard BEFORE you begin (the ROM etc.)

Hey guys!
I am trying to downgrade my current Stock 4.2.1 Rom to either 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 either stock or custom if possible even factory original.
How would I go about doing this as there is no clear cut instructions I could find....not sure if I can use NVFlash???
I previously had root performed using the VoodooOTA Method. Now I have unlocked the bootloader and also managed to install the TWRP Custom Recovery....although I do not think it has been installed correctly as it is unable to mount certain directories...../cache or /data and /system are some examples.....not sure if that is because of version or because of changes done to root enabler by new firmware upgrade.
If anyone has clear instructions or could point me in the right direction I would highly appreciate it!
Thanks
There might be a few issues with the new OTA update and recovery, if you already have a backup with nvflash from when you had ICS then yes there is a guide you can use to go back,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1894867
if not then you should either try to flash one of the stock ROMs mentioned in the sticky in the Android Development section
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1697227
or if you think twrp is not working well you should wait just in case you do damage to your device. There is a chance some partitions have been altered in the new update and twrp needs to be updated, by whoever is responsible for our version, to be able to function properly.
If the reason you want to go back is the launcher then there is an option to switch to the 4.1 launcher in the options, not sure where exactly but if you look a bit further down in this section you'll find someone else posting something about it.
And a last suggestion is that when you have a question better post it in the appropriate section

btw....which section would this fall under??? Development?

I am pretty sure he said that he is unlocked and running twrp, you can flash whatever rom you want from recovery but it will not bring back the ICS bootloader and the ability to have NVFLASH or even the 4.1 BL, so in reality he flashed a new rom and not actually downgrade to the previous state of the tablet.

That is actually correct, I dont know if itwill work in general but I previously had my OS rooted and backed up using Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper. The only thing that I did new from here on is
1. Backup an Nandroid using ADB Terminal Access -
Code:
adb backup –apk –shared –all –f C:\Android_Asus_4-2-1.ab
Ofcourse in-order to perform this feat you would need Android SDK Tools Package and Google USB Drivers installed on the drive
2. Perform the unlock bootloader using the apk found on the Asus Website
3. Flash Stock Rom that can be downloaded from Asus or here
using fastboot
4. Flash TWRP for JB using fast boot with help of link
5. Go into recovery Wipe Dalvik and Cache and Factory Restore
6. And boot!
Okay I know this is no GUIDE as I am press with time....I will try to make a proper one. but in all honesty I would just wait for the REAL DEV's to post the solution to 4.2.1

Hi,
I need to downgrade my tab as my touch doesn't work and need to flash other firmware it. It was told to me to downgrade and it should work, but was said I need TWRP because with CWM I could brick my tab. Without touch it's impossible to use TWRP. I have ulocked bootloader and rooted. Your guide doesn't seem to need of use exactly TWRP as Wipe Dalvik and Cache is worked when I rooted tab.
Hi Everyone,
a little while ago, I got notification of an OTA update. My Shield Tablet is rooted, but I tried and downloaded the OTA 2.2 anyway. It failed to install the about 130MB update and after reboot I still was on 2.1 and the 2.2 notification came up again.
If your Shield Tablet is rooted, get the FULL OTA 2.2 from this thread :
https://forums.geforce.com/default/...official-feedback-thread-released-2-17-15-/4/
( get LTE or WiFi version )
then copy this about 770MB file, as well as the SuperSU.zip file to your main storage
boot into your current custom recovery and select INSTALL ZIP.....
After you flashed the OTA, flash the SuperSU.zip and reboot.
Once rebooted, re-install BusyBox and run the NextApSDFIX and reboot again !
Voi la, all set !
( you don't loose your custom recovery or anything else if you do it this way ! )
I will give this a try, thanks mate ??

When you click on the link, you are getting some extra text. Remove everything after ".zip" and they work fine.
I can't keep root on 2.2 I am using CWM 6.0.5.0 and I tried the new TWRP and no luck. Unlocked bootloader if it helps.
On CWM: I flashed the full 2.2, wiped cache and dalvik, then re-installed SuperSU from chainfire's zip. I can't get root to stick. If I flash TWRP, recovery gets lost and I have to flash CWM. I repeat the process and nothing. Any ideas?

Sure did. Downloaded straight from Chainfire's website. Unfortunately, I think I will have to revert to stock and flash 2.2. I've tried every method I know and I can't get CWM to stick or root to enable.
EDIT: I just wiped everything and went fresh. Probably needed to happen anyway. Thanks for the support!
I think I've updated to the latest version (2.2.1 is it?) and I just unlocked the bootloader. Won't I be able to flash a custom recovery and root? :/ Sorry, I'm trying to figure out why the custom recovery won't flash so when I read this I kinda panicked!
