The only suggestion I have is try it without the VPN.

cant. sigh..

what i did and i've downloaded a few times is remove the google account on your device, go into location settings and click them all off.. clear the play store and play movies app settings.. then connect to your vpn... then launch your play store, sign in using your existing google account, then open play movies... movie should be there.. pin it for download..

i have a separate question re the movie, i have downloaded it and can watch it in play movies but is there anyway to 'extract' the movie from play movies and watch in mx player or copy onto my pc for watching again? it take up about 2gb of space on the device... i'm guessing its wrapped in drm..
also re other movies in the store.. there only seems to be an option to rent or purchase... can you download other purchases for offline viewing?

Thanks man, it worked! Downloading now. For your question, check out Stickmount. You need to be rooted though. Hope that helps...

If you want to keep a backup, can go to Android/data/com.google.android.videos
and copy the file inside the folder with the very long name.
I don't think our can view it off from outside the tablet itself, but you can give it a try though.

Anyone having more luck here? Since once has DRM-rights to the file, maybe there is a work-around so one can watch the movie elsewhere (as opposed to android os and play-store)?

Where are downloaded movies stored?

I have rooted my N7 and I am looking to manage space by moving files to USB storage. I used Astro File manager to look for them and I can't find them under MOVIES or DOWNLOADs. Where are they?
If you mean movies from the play store they are in android/data/com.Google.android.videos
Other than that it would help if you said where the videos were from.

I've looked there and all I find is folders, files>Movies, and a folder named with random numbers and letters with nothing in it, and a also a blank folder named subtitles (Not it the movies folder). When I logged into my Google account, it gave me a free movie to download (Ice Age 1), and I can't find it there. I think I've looked everywhere.
EDIT: Just found it. The file was somehow hidden from my computer, but not one of my file-browsing apps. Thanks it works now.

Deleted the free transformers movie, how do I get it back ?

See title , its under my movies on my other devices and play store website but not in play store app.

When you look at it in the web store, does it have a price under it or play? See image attached how mine is just ready to play.
In the online play store it just says play.

So can you see it in the Movies app?
Just got the tablet and am giving it to the wifey for her bday. Im obviously rooting it so I can play behind her back. Is the move a download, or already on the device? I'm not sure wether I should root, then dirty flash the JR003D build or if I should normally update, then root to keep the movie with the device. If it's a download...? IDK. What should I do?

By default the movie just streams, so you can pick it up again by logging into Play.

Are you rooted? Rooting breaks Google Movies AFAIK.
You can either stream it or download it to your device (for offline viewing).

Not here. Unlocked/rooted from day one of purchase and Google Movies working fine. I've streamed the free Transformer movie several times.

Not anymore... Use it all the time on my Rooted Nexus 7.
I streamed the Transformer movie, didn't download it. Having it running right now just to make sure nothing has changed... works great.

You Tube offline watch it later. Possible ?

The last version of youtube enables the preloading (caching) of all the videos you add in the watch later playlist. But it needs to be online in order to play them, for some crappy reason. Is there a way to bypass that and play all the videos in "watch later" while offline?
Some info on this feature and the crap reason.
YouTube, careful to draw a distinction between this and total downloading of its vids (which breaks its terms of service), is careful to point out that you’ll still need to be online for the first second when you press play.

Please delete.
Guys, he doesn't want a YouTube downloader. He wants to be able to play the video the official YouTube app caches but while offline. OP, I didn't know you could do this, I'll look around for a way.

I can't get on WiFi at the moment but, I'm thinking that YouTube would store the videos on your phone. I'm thinking in the /data partition under one of the YouTube apps folders. I'll check later tonight once I have WiFi.

Just use a YouTube down loader. I know its one extra step but if its worth the extra step then do it.
Use PVSTAR+ as player - it searches and shows youtube vids, and stores them in a cache. You can also copy them out of the cache and they are normal mp4 files. (it also has a mp3 mode, which only downloads the music part it seems). The app also runs in background and with screen off. Completely replaced youtube app with it.
(it also searches on dailymotion and i think you can add other sites)

You don't you have to upload the music to Google servers. Took about a week of 24/7 uploading to get my entire collection (80 GB) onto Google's server.

you just download an app on your desktop and it will upload your music in the background. No need to do anything.
Box is more for files rather than streaming as far as I know.
Install ES File explorer.
Go to the Net tab
Add new Box
Login to the Box account with ES File explorer
Then click to the Folder or MP3 file to stream music.
Hope it will help you.
