[Solved] Install theme - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How do I install a theme on my N7 do I have install through PC cuz I can't figure out how to install this theme o downloaded from the play store.. would the theme manager app help?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2

Well I'm not sure how you would in stock. But if you get yourself onto a cm10 rom, or one like Glazed JellyBean, (which is what I'm on) you can download themes off the play store, then in settings, in the theme manager, those themes will show up and you can select them and load them up easily

It really is wonderful! It has a totally diff feel to it. It feels way more tablet even though it sticks to the phablet UI. Thanks again

[Q] Can someone do a vídeo with Nexus 7 with tablet UI mode?

Can anyone do that? Like a little review.
I would like to see the notifications and the lancher.
I was hoping for the same thing a few hours ago but couldn't find anything. Basically just wanna see how the notification expansions work and how fluid the os is in tablet mode. Probably comparable performance but I just wanted to make sure xD
I would also love to see this
so no one is able to do this? I came searching again and was disappointed
I would love a video of that too. Please can someone make one?

But neither of them have video reviews of it running stock tablet UI with the DPI change mod. They both have it running the 213 dpi, hybrid UI instead.
Aww seriously guys it can't be this hard to get something like this done. :s I'd gladly do it but I don't have the device.

Sent on my Llama on my way to the Googleplex Center so I can get 64 Gig N7 Tab
I think you are going to confuse people.
The Nexus 7 does run in Tablet UI mode - only the home screen is hybrid.
What you want is a video of the tablet running with the DPI mod.

If you want to get technical then yes it is running in tablet mode, with a Hybrid Launcher BUT I still believe it's hybrid UI since even while in apps, you still get the hybrid/phone-like softkeys and notification bar.
Yes I would like a video of a nexus 7 running the DPI mod and showing a brief overview of menus, opening apps and notifications.
Sorry for any misunderstandings
bump.. again.. guess I'll have to wait til I get it myself

The new team BAMF wrong is sooooo buttery! Running very smooth and stable for me
Ive been using Paul Obriens Jr# ROMs. theyre just tweaked stock ROMs, but I have never had a single issue so far and with every release there are new features without any new bugs. which is always nice.

How much smoother can it be than stock jb? Seems like people are getting placebo effects from custom roms, only benefit I see is removal of bloat, if there is any really.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
It ships with stock so run stock for a few weeks to establish a baseline for stability and speed before you go experimenting.
I would wait a couple months. Stock nexus 7 runs great. Just unlock and root it. After a couple months Roms will start to mature and you will also see which ones seem to be leading, me personally, I love to flash. But I, very happy with stock and nova launcher. There are some things I would like from full tablet ui. But every ROM is promising the world. Just waiting to see which ones take the lead.
So just wait for now. no rush, do you hate stock that much?
Edit:
Plus people are having some issues booting into recovery without a USB or adb
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Have tried just about all the popular ones out as of yet, favorite so far has to be TeamEOS' nightlies. Very stable, UI works great, launcher rotation, and has the ICS style status bar, which I prefer.

I've been using the Pure AOSP rom, I used the stock for a couple of days and then switched, never looked back. There aren't a lot of differences between stock and the Pure AOSP, but the AOSP rom provides a cleaner starting point and the camera works by default.

I'm currently running stock, I just rooted and unlocked so I'm set whenever the stable full roms start kicking in. No need to rush it, just stick with stock for now

I think you are right about that. Although I flash Roms on my galaxy note, I could not see the need on the nexus 7 because it runs better than any ROM I ever put on the note
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I keep trying new ones in hopes that it will somehow get even better, but keep returning to stock.
Nothing is as smooth.
Currently running stock, rooted, deodexed. With the tabletUI mod. Nova launcher. awesome.
I'm running BAMF Paradigm. It's absolutely an amazing blend of custom features that offer visual and performance related options to really make it your tablet, I'm very happy with it, I've run several others also. DEFINITELY recommend Motley's kernel, it's one of the things I love most about the nexus 7. Also Aaronpoweruser's (sp) cookies and cream rom ran really good for me.
Just go for a different kernel rather than ROM, I tried out Trinity today (only got the 7 yesterday) and I find its quite slick..

Hundred percent agree. I have Paranoid Android on there just for the Tablet UI changes. I have found that Kernel Improvements do help drastically.

[POLL] Stock vs tablet workspace

I would like to start this to see how many people use tablet workspace since it seems only a few roms seem to be embracing this. Please state what rom you are using and what you use to trigger tablet mode.

PA 2.1 tablet ui (mid).
Don't like roms that shrink the nav bar too much either!

I'm using tablet ui, liking it a lot
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Stock, rooted 4.1.1 here.
Used the local.prop DPI setting to get it into tablet mode and use the app "Set Orientation" to force the last remains (like lockscreen) into landscape for total tablet experience to my likes
Also I'm using GoLauncherEx, which works fine for me landscaped.
Alot of you are using a depreciated method of forcing tabUI by using dpi hacks. IMHO only sgt7 and PA are the only seamless roms that do this well. PA also lets you choose the navbar height independently.
Personally I would never run phabletUI on my tablet. That sounds funny

I wouldn't call it "depricated", I'd call it "the savest and most less intrusive way".
I don't want to flash a different ROM and I don't have to edit any system files - #1 way of doing it for me. And it works just fine

It may seem like its working fine but when I did it that way many apps were gone from my market (google play music, wallet off the top of my head) and the copy/paste bar was nowhere to be found when editing text.
Of course I could have messed something up and yours could be fine.

About the apps, maybe I just got lucky so far and the ones I use on my N/ don't set the compatibility stuff in the way that makes them appear to be incompatible with the N7.
About the copy/paste bar, I just tried and yes, it's "gone" like you say.
But I use GoKeyboard and that has copy/paste buttons as well, so I can live with that for now

[Q] Can anyone get NBA Jam® to work on the N7?

Works on stock unrooted. It may have to do with DPI if that's changed.
Works on mine. EOS tablet mode with Trinity kernel.

I'll try EOS. Thanks
I'm stock, not rooted. Works perfect for me. Are you sure you're using teh latest update? It just got updated about a month or so ago to work on Nexus 7
Yea, I downloaded the latest version from Google Play. It must be the cna. Once I get back from work, I'll install EOS and give that a try. I really hope it works. Its one of my fav games on android.
You guys rock! EOS works perfectly with NBA Jam! I'm now a very happy gamer

what do i have to do now to play nba jam?

I have no problems with changing the dpi, except I want to keep the tablet taskbar..
any easy way to doing so?
i'm on paranoid android, i used all the dpi settings, and none of it works for me.
when i load the game, in the beginning it loads the screen on the upper left corner
then the big screen comes on, then it shuts off.
i've changed my dpi from 160 to 213 to bigger, none of it works. any help?

Anything like Go Locker?

Is there other apps like it? Widgetlocker is so old and outdated that the stock lockscreen works better then it. I just mainly want something I can customize and use as a lock screen.
MagicLocker.
How about MagicLocker? It's pretty easy to use and works well. I tried Go Locker, Stock, even Widgetlocker, but I always come back to ML. I use it on my S3 & Nexus 7. Very happy

Actually, widgetlocker gave me a very nice, jelly bean lock screen back when I was on stock. It has been updated. You just need to remove those gross froyo sliders
