Hello,
I purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 P6800, two weeks ago. The P6800 has multi CSC, initially was shown as 'SIN', I think is tied to the local service provider. It is still running on Honeycomb 3.2, and NOT Root.
There's one incident that I tried to update the firmware to the Austria ICS released, but it was failed and not able to get proceed further or return, it was like 'bricked'.
I sent the P6800 to Samsung Service Center, and they claimed that they have replaced the 'motherboard' for me. However, I did not realize after a few days later, I realized that the 'Serial number' on my P6800/Settings/Above device/Status, is showing as all '000000000000', but IMEI is still the same. I went back to Samsung Service Center and asked them, and they said due to the changed of motherboard, and currently they do not have the facilities to update the Serial number, but they said it will not affect anything, so long as the sticker behind the tablet shows it serial number and IMEI will still served as under warranty.
My P6800 now the CSC-code has changed to 'XSP', which no longer tied to the branded firmware, but when I tried to connect it to the computer with KIES, it stated that my P6800 will not be able to update any future firmware via Samsung KIES. I don't feel good and feeling something and somewhere in my P6800 is not running properly. Beside, I also wondering whether Samsung really changed the motherboard as the transparency sticker behind my P6800 is not been changed or moved, wondering how they replaced the motherboard?
I would like to check whether is there any ways to manually update or input the Serial number back into the P6800 to let it shows under the Settings/About device/Status?
As I wanted to try again to update my P6800 to the latest ICS 4.04 firmware released, but afraid the Serial number issue will fail during the manual update of the ICS 4.04 firmware.
My P6800 and myself are from Singapore.
Please kindly assist and advise anyways to input the Serial number back into my P6800.
Millions of thanks.
I have same issue , i received my Tablet from Samsung service center after motherboard replacement and discovered serial number are all 0's , Does that has any impact fir use of any tablet functions or any application to be installed ? Is there's anyway to edit it manually ?
Hello ferraritm
I went to my Samsung Service center and they advised me same answer you have got , but they confirmed to me this will not cause any issues or conflicts
I installed Official ICS ROM and new JB Custom ROM with no problems at all
I opened also a ticket online with Samsung support , and they replied me that this serial number is related to software not to Hardware , and it may change if you install new ROMs , also they confirmed to me that this will not cause any issues or conflicts with software or Hardware
For me when i installed new JB custom ROM and i can see now new Serial number !

Hi
My friend has got S4 (I9505). He wasn't flashing his phone with anything - it is original like it was bought. He has got now I9505XXUBMGA firmware (Android 4.2.2) with BTU CSC, which is outdated. System status says that phone is not modified, but despite this, he is unable to do OTA/Kies update. In both cases (when using OTA or when connecting to PC with Kies) he got message "This is the latest firmware". This is not true, latest for BTU CSC is I9505XXUGNG8 (Android 4.4.2).
Questions:
1) What can prevent OTA/Kies from update of unmodified phone?
2) Can software say, that phone is unmodified when it is not true? For example when flashing count is not "0"? Maybe someone flashed my friends phone before he had bought it? Changed kernel or recovery can lead to such problems?
3) Freezing of some Samsung bloatware can lead to locking both OTA and Kies on PC?
4) Are we able to diagnose this phone (how?) and fix OTA to avoid Odin flashing? (I know that there is hard to brick Samsung phone completely, but there are always some small chances that something will go wrong, my friend is not keen on flashing and I'm not so rich to buy him another one S4 when something will fail )
Thanks for answers
From what I recall, the S4 firmware will report a status of Official if all the pieces match, regardless of whether the firmware actually is for the S4 in question. So it is possible, and in fact likely, that your friend's phone was carrier branded at one point, but was then subsequently unlocked and the firmware flashed with an unbranded firmware.
You can find out if the device was flashed by entering the IMEI here. One item it will tell you is who the original carrier is. From there you can put two and two together.
Thank You very much for reply, that's important clue. I don't know how phone was bought, but CSC reports UK (BTU) and I'm not in UK - Poland. So it could be sold by some UK carrier and then unlocked to unbranded firmware.
IMEI gives no results, but I will try to get more informations about how phone was bought, that can explain a lot... Looks like in this case Odin will be only way to push Android further...
Thanks for answer, now I know for what I should look :good:
If anybody else will run into other idea - also feel free to answer, I will check anything as I want to help my friend Thanks everybody, XDA is great
Just a follow up. When you entered the IMEI at the link I gave, did it come up with the device's model number, e.g. GT-I9505ZKAXXX? If so, did yours read "GT-I9505ZKABTU" or some other model?
No, unfortunately not, I see no data after entering IMEI, only information about API, however if I enter IMEI on main page of this website I see some basic data. This lead me to information that Reporting Body Identifier is BABT (IMEI starts with 35) and BABT means United Kingdom.
Website didn't show model number, but my friend has installed Phone INFO ★Samsung★ and inside it there is model number (Product Code):
GT2I9505ZKABTU
This is very similar to Yours suggestion, but I see something weird - shouldn't be "-" after "GT" instead of "2"? Product Code with "GT2" instead of "GT-" is OK?
Thanks for answer
Then I sent you to the wrong page. You want the Samsung warranty page: https://imeidata.net/warranty/samsung
That page is the one that is supposed to tell you everything about your phone. Post that information here, minus the IMEI of course.
You had send correct link On Warranty page when I enter IMEI I got no data, only some data on mainpage of this website - looks like they don't have any information about this IMEI
I think they want you to register with the site, which is something new. Regardless, the reason we can't go by the Phone Info information your friend provided is that when a new firmware is installed the product code changes. For example, my I9505 was originally a GT-I9505ZKAO2U, which means my S4 was originally tied to the carrier O2 in the UK. Before I purchased the phone, the product code changed to GT-I9505ZKASIM, which is Slovenian firmware, specifically SI Mobil. About a month after I purchased the phone I installed a Black Edition firmware, which changed the product code to GT-I9505ZKAAUT, an unbranded Swiss firmware.
Currently on his phone is an unbranded UK firmware. If the site doesn't reveal the original carrier, the box may, depending on how long he has owned his S4. Some boxes have the product code on a label attached to the box.
Looks like website is down - after registering I got still no data, just message "The TAC info not found on database, we will update in 1-2 days."
Thanks for help - I will try to get details from my friend and I will go back to this when I will have some new infos
I purchased a factory unlocked note 3 about 2 days ago and out the box was 4.4.4 i presume. The manufacture date was in late 2014. I've been dying to get my hands on the official lollipop update knowing kies is about the only way. Long story short after the reboot i turned my head and i heard the T-mobile boot sound! I look over and see the tmobile boot playing. After that i suddenly have all TMO's bloatware and annoying little offers but weirdly half of the bloatware doesnt work. It all gets errors and so forth. I'm slightly confused as to why this happened. I purchased the note from an official licensed samsung retailer and the box was sealed. I just want to know why or how this could happen? IT just baffles me.
Its a TMobile branded phone is the most likely answer .
Kies has updated by the firmware details etc on the phone .

But i purchased it brand new, factory unlocked, directly from samsung. I had to order it from the official retailer but i had tracking VIA samsung's official support mail.
Did you try to contact the place you got it from?
What details re CSC firmware etc .
Use Phone Info from Play store .
Kies can only read what's on the phone .
Are you sure Kies gave you an update to lollipop .
Could it be that someone flashed a firmware ???
I just wondered if it is possible to buy new note 3 (n9005) available on the market? Do they still produce them? I see one can buy it on ebay and aliexpress and it says it is orignal phone. Does this make sense in 2018?
I just bought an n9005 from HONG KONG on ebay. but something went wrong.. I want to use it norway. but signal has problem. it has 4.3 android...wont update on kies, when I try emergancy recovery it asks for a code to do it which kies says it on another pc so i found my old pc and updated it and kies was on it, but same message code...and it wont connect either..it says connect a device(in kies). It could be that something went wrong when I set it up first time so I wanted to do emergancy recovery and the seller said it is 100 persent original and also wanted me to do a emergancy recovery.....tried to update it at work where I got at least a signal albeit unstable..but it said ...system was modded...
could it be that it is a hong kong software with modem and bootloader and that got messed up when i tried to set it up here in Norway?
Anybody has a clue...seller also want to send me a new one if I cant fix it..
Please help, would be much appreciated!
Thomas
First, I recommend verifying the model # for the note 3 you purchased by booting into download mode.
The sm-n9005 has not been made for years. You may find a new unit but it would probably be old stock.
I wouldn't automatically believe that the Note 3 on Aliexpress is new.
Probably unused or used for schort time.
My friend attempted to sell his Samsung Galaxy S8 on Ebay. The guy bought it, told Ebay it didnt work, STOLE the IMEI and attempted to flash it. He half new what he was doing. He got his money backand my friend got a S* that he just dont want due to the headaches he has had over it all ready. I got it and this is the info on it now.

It currently has a combo ROM installed with no back up and I have no knowledge of what is the correct ROM it needs.
If some one can steer me in the right direction?
So I can use the limited functions on this ROM and I do have USB debugging enabled and Unknown Sources enabled.

Any g950u firmware that is revision 4 or higher. The 5th digit from far end is revision. Which will be a Oreo firmware. Root is not possible and that revision.
All the firm's are the same the CSC file in the firmware download determine the carrier. Updateo.com or Sam mobile. Com will have the needed firmware to get you up and running
The only question I have is what if whomever did this had flashed the wrong ROM to begin with? I would be flashing it based on a incorrect ROM as this is where the reading of the digits like a cars VIN number comes in to play? So if someone put a different tag on it, the wrong one, and I flash it based on that, I could potentially not only hard-brick it, but also short out circuity on the motherboard right? If what I stated is true, then how could I go about getting the stock info for this phone? Samsung possibly? And If im wrong, sorry im just being cautious as this is a pretty expensive phone, even for a messed up one I seen them go for a lot on Ebay, and way higher if unlocked and Rooted.

Can't be rooted revision 2 and down. The imei is cert cpid based. Not easily changeable at random. Their are imei services that can do it. Bassicly what I said is how it is. These locked bootloader prevent any major flashing with Odin. As in you can't hard brick with firmware and Odin unless say a power outage when writing the bootloader. The cpid is done by server so it is unique to each device. He could not have just taken the efs. it does not even lie in the efs. It's all in a partition called proc. Even if I where to dump your imei I could not flash it to my device due to this security feature which is implented. The imei cert would fail and I would have absolutely no signal
OK thanks!
Hi everyone,
I purchased second hand a functional SM-G975U phone that can make phone calls and go on LTE.
On the back of the phone, in tiny writings it says model: SM-G975XU and below it states it's a live demo unit.
Now the phone has an IMEI number (from a s10e when I check the IMEI origin?) And I assume it was manually written.
My main concern is about software updates. I'm currently still on Android 9 and one UI 1.1. the phone has not received any updates since April 2019. And in the device care section of security, it says disabled.
I thought of pushing updates through Odin but my issue is the phone has firmware of Comcast but the CSC code of XAA/XAA/XAA, which is the international version of model U1, not U.
Could someone advise me on what to do? I did recontact the seller and he says he didn't know it was a demo unit and is unwilling to refund me... I feel kinda stuck here and I did spend a good amount of savings on the phone ...
Just flash the latest Unlocked G975U firmware via Odin and you should have a fully functional phone
