[Q]The problems with the flash light on CM9 - Milestone 2 General

Is there anyone's flash light working when focus?
If so, could you please tell me which kernel you use and what kind your phone is (Chinese ME722 or Europe A953)?
Many Thanks, I really need a working flash light.

[Q] Restore Defy+

Hi everyone
I made a mistake by installing CM7 to defy (mb525) on my defy + (mb526)
With this rom my motorola is a recognized defy (mb525) in the settings, it still uses all its capacity? What is changing?
How to submit an original rom defy + (mb526)?
I can then put the right to defy CM7 + (mb526)?
It is not unlocked, locked SFR (France), and I have not seen sfb SFR it does not matter to put one another?
Sorry for my English ... it is the automatic translator
thank you very much
Up please help me
What Cyanogen build did you use?
I suggest this version, it hasn't got any bugs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445259
It shows MB526(I think it's written in the bluid.prop)
Use the ROM sugested by Mister-Samossa or the last nighty whith those patchs.
I'm using the cm72-120127.0846-NIGHTLY-Defy+ with the patchs and it works very well: no FCs, camera works properly, battery life is good (2-3 days), charged until 100% and no gaps when discharging.
i'am in test this rom,but patch whit install ?? thank for reply !!
Do you need a new SBF to flash these, or can I just go from stock 2.3.5?
edit: I can just go from stock, it only requires a GB kernel, which my stock has.

You must install the patchs from [] AL [] using recovery->Install zip if you want a working camera and that battery can charge to 100%

You don´t need to flash any other SBF. I installed it over the stock 2.3.5 rooted.

Hello, could you help me please.
I have a defy regular with green lens and i have flash with defyplus u3_4.5.1-134
I can't donwgrade it with other sbf, always red M and reboot or black screen.
With this sbf i don't have speaker and can't download to the market.
What should i do ?
Thank's a lot for your reply.

v noyau 2.6.32.9
n build :4.5.1-134 dfp125
I believe you got yourself in trouble here. You flashed a Defy + Rom on the Original Defy? Well now you can't downgrade. But dont worry because the official Gingerbread works fine but I can't be too sure about the camera..
If you want the link to the official Motorola 2.3.4 SBF just let me know
Flash another sbf - the one that's meant for yours!

I have tried a lot of these sbf but there's only the defyplus u3_4.5.1-134 whose boot my defy.
For all other sbf = black screen.
Sorry for translation...

Just the camera doesn't work : black screen.
Is there a issue for green lens for u3.4.5.1-134 ?
Thanks.

Arrrggggggghhhhh
With green lens defy you are not supposed to flash defy+ Roms and kernels. Because the green lens camera is not compatible with any Motorola gingerbread Rom.
You can use greenbread mod I think. Search greenbread mod by walter79 on xda. Fingers crossed.

[Q] Motorola Defy Kernels

hi guys, I would like to ask experienced users what is the difference between the kernels we used on our Defy(s)
Froyo Kernel vs Gingerbread kernel vs Walter79's Kernel
I first encountered this kernel upon viewing the CM9 update thread
I have a red lense defy and the very first rom I flashed was the official CM7.1 so I am aware I do have a Froyo Kernel running on this bad boy.
what is the difference/ advantages?
which is better?
is it safe to flash one over the other?
is it easy to flash? like how we flash roms? we can always go back to to Froyo kernel from the gingerbread or walter kernel and vice versa?
I think a lot of noobs would appreciate your answers.
I will edit this post and add your answers so that others may find it useful as well

Ans:My experience says that the main advantage of using GB kernel is battery life..
Defy-4.5.3-109_DPP-11-kernel is well known for awesome battery life.
which is better?
Ans: I personally think Walter79's kernel is better in every sense.Unfortunately for old defy owners(SOC camera green lens), camera wont work on new kernels without any extra fix..
is it safe to flash one over the other?
Ans: Yea its 100% safe..i personally never had any problem as such..but i heard few people faced bootloop..in any case you can always go back to froyo or watever kernel u were using
is it easy to flash? like how we flash roms? we can always go back to to Froyo kernel from the gingerbread or walter kernel and vice versa?
Ans: As i have already mentioned above, we can always switch between these kernels..just remember not to flash any GB kernel based sbf or else u will be stuck! before flashing any unknown or less known kernel PLEASE USE THE SEARCH option and know more about the kernel and related problems.

i would add, that many people state that GB kernel (2.3) has much better 3d performance - games are running much better than on froyo kernel.
It's easy and safe to switch between kernels, you should only remember that switching kernel must come with installing appropriate rom

Please also share Camera fix (link) for GB kernel for SOC Camera and also mentioned whether downgrade is possible. Your help will be appreciated.
anyone correct me but we can do dual boot but can't install dual kernels?
say
cm7 (froyo kernel ) as system
cm9 (gingerbread kernel) on SD
and will Gingerbread kernel work with cm7 for the defy, red lense?

No, can't do it. Both ROM's should share the same kernel.
thanks Auris, would you be able to add anything or negate anything that was previously posted about the Defy Kernels?
Please help me a bit with those kernels! I have a defy+ with 2.3.6 base and one of those newest official build nandroids. Can I flash Walter's kernel? ^^
Just don't want any bootloader error!

Can I flash gb kernel? Also m having green lens.
Will the camera work on walters69 kernel?

thanks, guys. i've been looking for the answers
Is it okay to flash defy+ rom zip and then the gb kernel on a green lens defy? To me battery life is more important than camera

Walter79's kernel allows 720p recording for defy red lens.
Defy kernel Flash
i have a motorola defy green lens currently running cm9 4.0.4 (camera's not working but i don't care much for the camera ) . ok here's my problem i'm trying to flash a different kernel on my defy.. the current kernel im running is 2.6.32.9 cdt 2011 but i need better performance and i tried to flash semaphore kernel. the flash was successful but i see no changes and also in the settings>about phone the kernel version hasnt changed. i need help so that i can flash new kernel properly.. thanks
Hi!
I realize this is a very old thread, but it seems to be one of the few addressing the (dis)advantages of the froyo vs the GB kernel (independently of the ROM!).
The 720p-recording is really not important to me, but battery life is and I just read here that it would be better on GB kernel.
Do any of you have further experience with regards to battery-life difference between Froyo and GB kernels (not ROMs)!? Is it a big difference (to what extent or through which features?)
I have a MB525 with red lens and Froyo kernel, so I could go for a GB-kernel.
I've recently rooted my smartphone and flashed WIUI (3.1.27, GB&MIUI-based) on it, because (1) my phone was slowing down, (2) I wanted not to have any bloatware anymore and (3) I wanted some apps that only run on Gingerbread/2.3+ (e.g. the offline-language-package-feature from Google Translate). Almost everything is now better.
BUT, my battery life got worse! I've now down-volted my smartphone to a stable point and set it to 'smartassv2', but am looking for further improvement for the battery life. As WIUI can be installed both on froyo and GB-kernel, I might also update the Kernel...but only want to take the plunge if it really would make a difference...
any advice or experience is welcome!

Seems to be an old Quarx build but does not specify for which kind of defy (Defy green, Defy Red or Defy+) neither which kernel it uses.
I would suggest to wipe data, cache and dalvic-cache from recovery and try again.
If you upgraded from Froyo to CM9 GB version the problem is that you have tho flash the kernel too.
Please follow this post since it is updated and you will find further support.
thanks alot mate i tried what you said but sadly it didnt work i apprciate your help though

okay sir thanks a lot
Already fixed the battery problem?
You can root using the method from dev section (the bl7 method, use only then). Afterwards instal 2nt Init. Now you can instal custom ROMs again (only the defy+ ones). After that you might also have to flash a battery fix.
But camera will most likely never work for you without a new defy sbf released.

Hello...Please help! I had an old green lens motorola defy mb 525 that I wanted to upgrade for my 12 year old son (he lost his old phone ). Now I have the same problem stated above... Is there anyway to fix it nowadays? I had the mb525 running froyo and now I have the gingerbread 2.3.6 but the camera is not working at all.
