It looks like your're experienced with SBFing, what's wrong with just reflashing? Also, if your battery is too low, you will charge while in bootloader (unlike a powered off or boot looped state). Finally, if you're going to be keeping your DX for a while, look into Wizard's boot menu and/or how to use ADB.

.. after sbfing you have to wipe data, as SBFing doesn't wipe the data partition.

Precisely my problem I got it to boot into recovery before but it was in a boot logo loop (if that's a correct term for it) but now it reaches the animation and now its dead I believe

ended up reSBFing from linux boot disc.
I just upgraded to a GNex so I'm passing the X to my kid.
Is there a way into ADB or fastboot?

My droid x is stuck in boot loop and I've tried to force clockwork and normal bootloader, I can get the bootloader to come up, but I'm on a mac so is my only option to try and find a pc and go the rsd route?

Try wiping data. If you can into bootloader you can do that from there. (this will of course wipe out all of your data - Just sayin')
If that doesn't work, you will most likely be looking at flashing SBF from RSD.

Yeah no reason not to try this. You're going to lose your data whether you wipe now or when you do the SBF. Hope it works for you!

So here's the story. Bought a used Droid X from a guy at work. Phone was fine. Never rooted or anything related to root. So I decided to root it. Used ZergRush method I believe. Installed Bootstrap Recovery. Wife used Rom Toolbox to change several notification icons, boot animation and boot logo. Everything was great for awhile, but she got tired of it always booting into recovery. So I was going to un-root and return to stock. Ran the same ZergRush Un-root app. Then removed Bootstrap and all other root apps. Then found out wife accepted an OTA before I un-rooted. Well, at this point the phone still worked, and was un-rooted, but still rebooted into recovery, still had custom boot animation and logo as well. So she then reset phone to factory defaults. After that is when we had problems. Basically it wouldn't load past the boot logo. I just pulled the phone out from its hiding spot after a month or so to try and tackle it again. But now I think the battery is shot because it won't turn on period, whether plugged in or not, and the battery looks like its swollen. Has a huge bulge in the middle.
My question is, do you think the phone is able to work again? Cuz if not, I'm not buying a new battery.
Yeah it sounds like a bad battery now but before would it would just boot to the red m? If so an sbf would probably do the trick
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
Ya before it would boot to the M and stay there, until I pulled the battery. So hopefully new battery and sbf and it will work?
Well yeah an sbf should do you just fine
Just be sure once you do the sbf you boot into stock recovery (vol down+home+power then vol up+down together when you see the !) And do a factory reset or you'll just have another headache
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
Alright cool. Looks like I'll be finding a battery and having a whirl at this. Thanks for the replies
So i sbf'd the shadow 2.3.4 using rsd and it said it was completed and to manually boot the phone. So i did and it still stays at red m logo. Only difference is its now the red m where as before the sbf it was the pink Android my wife installed. So some progress I guess.
Any ideas? Try a different sbf file maybe?

EDIT: Nvm, tried a different sbf and it works fine now.
I know you say it would boot into the M but could you get it to boot into recovery?
Don't remember if i tried actually lol. Its plain now, no root or bootstrap, but it works

Please help!
I am running ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.0
I'm running cyanogenmod 7.2 and I wasn't really trying to do anything. Just checking the options in recovery mode because I am preparing to sell this phone.
But now I can't get out of recovery. If I select reboot now I just get the clockwordmod recovery logo and it just sits there. Same thing if I select turn phone off.
Has this ever happened to anyone before?! Please help.
Again I wasn't trying to flash anything...change anything...really do anything. And I've been running CM7 for quite a while without issue so not sure why this is happening now.
Any help much appreciated!
Yes I do have a nandroid but it isn't very current so I'd prefer not to use it (not sure it would work anyway) if I don't have to.
Thanks in advance!
Did you use trackpad to select reboot?
How about a battery pull?

Yeah I guess I was worried that would completely brick the phone but it actually did the trick. Thanks.
Still curious what I can do to prevent this from happening in the future...as I would like to sell a fully functioning stable phone.
Thanks though and sorry for the panic post!

I have this same problem, except it does it every time I boot to recovery. I prefer to use recovery to flash roms over the rom manager, but any tiime i make a selection from the main menu, it just shows the clockwork logo and doesn't go anywhere. Does anyone know how to fix it so that I could navigate recovery?
Thanks

This is after turning on with vol- and power button? Ryt?
Yeah, also when going to ROM manager and goo reboot recovery, it dims screen and the capacitive buttons freak out for a second then the screen stays the same. Now the phone won't boot either, it does the same thing with the buttons freak out, I was running some gingerbread ROM, came with it rooted and stuff. Can I just flash sbf with no issues since the boot loader is locked?

I've researched it and cannot find a answer. Say if you get stuck in a boot loop and want to flash a nandroid backup or something. The only options I seen with the buttons when the device is off or whatever take you into download mode or a mode that only says factory reset.

On the Verizon model I have TWRP installed and hold power on+volume down and when it says the factory reset I just go ahead through it. The phone still has all your files. It just ends up wiping the OS.
Just my .02 cents because I've been in that position.

So if it wipes the os it leaves the phone in a permanent boot loop therefore not working if you do that, no?
