How long is it taking you guys to charge your N7? At first I had the sleep of death and once it finally turned on after a slight charge, it stays at charging 0% for quite some time now. But before that, it always seemed to slow charge.

No idea. I plug it in when I go to bed and it's good to go the next day...lasts me the whole day. I also don't know how many licks it takes to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop.
At I/O they said the tablet takes about 3 hours to charge from 0-100% but it may be faster. Whenever I get the 15% alert I throw it on the charger for about an hour and it's past 50%
charge times will vary depending on the charger as well, best charge time will occur from the wall charger that came with it, USB trickle charge will take a month of sundays
that is of course unless you have a magical USB controller that outputs 2A from each port (highly unlikely)
I wonder if its something wrong with my battery. Been on charger for more than three hours and nowhere near 100%. It was at maybe 48%. Drainage seems reasonable..its just the charge seems rather long to reach full charge. This is all from using the stock charger too...

Typically 3 to 4 hours for me using OEM charger
Via my HTC Rezound
Between 2-3 hours on charger, around 7-9 hours on usb.
My battery app says 3 hours and 40 minutes on average. That includes charge times when I am using it at the same time so I guess about 3 hours.

I don't know what happened, but with me, when I first got it it was 3 hours on the dot to a full charge. Then one day it said it needed to be plugged in to charge getting below 14%. Then I plugged it in and got the sleep of death, and plugged it in the wall and the battery icon came up, then I turned it on. Now it's been charging for about 6 hours and its only 85% :crying:
Mines generally around 40% at the end of the day, it takes less than 2 hours to get to fully charged.
Mine takes about 3.5 hours but I noticed my 10 foot micro USB cable doesn't charge fast at all. Takes about 12 hours on my 10 foot cable
Yeah I'm with the rest, mine's in the 2.5 - 3.5 range. But as stated, which charger you use makes a huge difference. Charging off the computer (USB to PC) is waaaay slow. Using the OEM wall-charger is what should give you 2.5 - 3.5.
3-4 hours for me depending on what percent I wait till, usually 5-15% battery, haven't tried with anything other than the OEM charger though.
From about 10% ie when the warning to charge came up, to 100%, took mine about 2-3 hours only last night using the supplied charger. Much longer on USB, haven't timed that.
Should I get mine exchanged ? I'm still within the 14 day policy of Mac mall. Its been an hour and its only 14%. Usually it takes 3-4+ to charge fully.

Make sure you're using the supplied charger. I believe the ones for smartphones charge at a different rate? I made the same mistake when I first got my Nexus 7 by charging it with my SGSII charger. It was VERY slow. Then I switched back to the supplied charger and everything was normal.
Usually takes me just 2 hours, and it is full. I usually start charging at around 15%. Using OEM Charger too. :good:
I used my Gnote charger but left it overnight (about 5hrs). I'd say that normally it takes around 3 hours. The battery life is awesome I have to say.

I found this while searching for an answer, my Nexus has been taking 12-15 hours to charge fully, using the factory charger. I also tried my powered USB hub (using a charging port, rated at 1.5 amp), and my Galaxy Nexus charger, same thing. Called Google today and they said it's the device, and I need to return it. Luckily I bought it locally, so I can just exchange it at the store.

I recharged my Galaxy Tab 10.1 yesterday from a 15% remaining charge.
I powered it off and used the wall charger. It took almost 6 hours to charge to 100%!
Is this normal or is there something wrong with the battery?
Thanks!
Mine was slow at first too. But now seems to have gotten quicker.

What is the rating on the charger that comes with the unit?
The rating is 5V - 2A
Yep, noticed it took about 3 hrs to go 40% charging. Not sure why there is such a drastic difference from the Xoom which could charge from 10% to full in little over an hour with similar drain to GT.

Can you please quantify what quicker means?
We have a rather large battery in the device, while I agree 6 hours is abit much, it should be quicker at 2 amps.
On the other hand, I sit in on the charger at night before I go to bed. I am definately a heavy user as well, and the battery lasts me all day with atleast 30 to 40% left over by bed time (this includes a 1.5 hour commute each direction using Waze, the GPS, and wifi tethered to my phone, 2 gmail accounts polling every 15 min, web surfing throughout the day, and playing games during my morning and afternoon constitutions .. I know.. too much info)..
So I can live with a longer charge time, at least for now..
I charged my GT Tab completely before using it the first time. Then I drained it down to about 9%. I timed my first full charge from 9% to 100%, it took exactly 6 hours and 4 min. My Xoom charged in half the time. I am hoping it gets better like I have heard from different people.

i believe the xoom's charger is 16watts or more. i can't really remember, but it's got the highest rated charger b/t the xoom, tf, and gt10.1.
I think that's just wishful thinking on their part. How does a battery suddenly learn to charge itself faster. You make it sound like the battery is a muscle you can work out. The thing takes forever to charge but it also has excellent battery life. So as long as you don't find yourself in a hurry to travel without time to charge the battery should last you almost all day.

I charged the device fully before use. Used it down to 10%, plugged it in and charged to full powered off. This took around 6 hours. The second time I charged it from around 14-15% It took about 4 hours. I have charged it twice more since from almost zero, and it's taking about two hours.
Remember the math:
7000 mAh battery
2000 mAh charger
That means from drain to full if the screen is off, about 3-4 hours. If you have the screen or device on and it's doing anything, it's using some of that incoming charge, so will increase to 4, 5, 6 or more hours to fully charge.
Gets even worse if using an aftermarket charger, say a 800 mah or 1000 mah charger like the iPhone or Kindle charger...can then take 10-14 hours to fully charge, hehe.
It's funny how people say it charges quicker after a while, when that's not logical, you just don't notice it as much going from 65% to 100% as you noticed when it went from 15% to 100% the first time, hehe

Smaller battery=shorter charge, a 2 gallon gas tank is quick to charge too, hehe.... kidding.
But seriously, Samsung is bad with their charging. My Samsung Infuse and my Galaxy tab both take forever to charge.

Did I read it correctly that if recharged from almost 0 (e.g. <5%?), it takes only 2 hours to go to 100%? This seems counter intuitive.

i think what happens is that as the battery calibration gets more accurate it finds where to quick charge and where to trickle in the appropriate levels.

My nexus also takes forever to charge, seems strange...
if it's connected to usb it's normal, if it's to the wall charger, it's not normal.
+20% (Every Hour +-)
My Experience: +20% (Every Hour +-)
Similar Question: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804156
That's strange. It usually takes 3 hours to be charged from lower than 20% for my Nexus 7 with AC. Haven't tried USB though.
I think a thorough wipe might help.
3 hours on the wall charger that came with mine will easily do it from under 30 to 100%. The other phone chargers we have kicking around all have much lower output. Never occurred to me they were that different (duhh) until I realized that it took significantly longer to charge on my wife's Blackberry charger, my old Palm charger, my LG phone charger. I had always used them interchangeably with the phones. The N7 charger has a 2A output and the others are 1A or less. The newest Blackberry charger is only 500 mA I think. After an hour or two the charge level has barely changed on the N7 with that one. Less convenient to always have to use the right one, but makes a big difference.
USB takes waaaay longer.
Any one know how much time n7 will take to charge 100%.
- Using power adapter
- Using system USB port.
Review stated it takes 3.30 hrs for ac charging.
Thanks

Yeah 4 hours here too. At least.
about 2-3 hours here
dont mind though as ive been out using heavy for whole days and still got back home at midnight with 65% left luv the nexus battery
Id love to hear how some claim to have fully charged their Nexus in 2 to 3 hours, it takes me 4 hours minimum to fully charge it from around 6%, i haven't let it drop beyond that yet.
I'm not 100% sure on the time but about 1-2 hours, but then again the lowest I've ever had it is 13%. I tend to keep it plugged in if I'm going to be doing something battery intensive like play games or a lot of web browsing, and tend to turn it off over night and pick up notifications on my phone as it doesn't give off as much light from the back light as my N7.
I love the battery life on the N7 as it could probably go for at least a day and a half on battery if I left it on all the time and used flight mode over night, but I don't want to kill the battery and have to mess around inside it to change the battery.

It depends on what ac adapter you use, and how much current it puts out. I originally used my incredible s charger and out took forever
With the Asus OEM one it takes around 3 hours from around 0-5%

This here. It is horses for courses.
As for the debate on charging times. 3-4 hours is the norm for most of us. Given different tolerances in both the charger and battery some migh be on the lower end of the scale and some higher.
Just remember to use the OEM Asus adapter as it puts out 2amp at 5v. (Or a 2a equivalent) .
Most phone chargers and USB ports on comps/Xbox etc only output 500ma (.5 amp). You can use them but it will take a good ten hours to charge with them.

I'm unsure what's wrong!!!
My phone has been fine, until it died today. I practice a 1 charge a day rule and I let my battery drain completely before I even think about putting it back on the charger.
Today, my phone died a littler earlier than expected, but that's okay because I was using my iPhone for most of the day. I got home at about 11PM and put my phone on the charger at 11:15PM. Here it is, 2:25AM and my phone only has 30% charge.
I've never noticed it charging this slowly before because I typically put it on the charger before I go to sleep and take it off when I wake up. This doesn't seem normal from ANY phone that I've ever used or troubleshooted in my life.
Why so slow? Is everyone's phone just as slow or should I be concerned?
Edit: I am using the charger that came with my phone in the same wall outlet that I've used since I got the phone. Nothing else is plugged into that outlet, either.
It would seem sensible to try a different charger and power outlet.

Your should be at 100% in that 3 hours. Try using a tablet wall charger.

I don't have another charger. All I own is Apple products, unfortunately.
I've done other other outlets throughout the house before posting, but I wouldn't see why the one I'm using is compromised in the slightest. It's charged the phone fine since I've gotten it.

The only Tablet I have is my iPad. I was thinking about just using the A/C adapter, but I was worried that that might mess something up with my luck. LOL.
You can't use the iPhone\iPad chargers as most of them don't comply with the USB charging standard (It will only charge at 500ma, the limit of USB charging).
You said it died quicker than usual as well? Sure nothing is running that drains the battery? Check the battery usage in settings after leaving it unplugged a while and see if you see anything that's using a ridiculous amount of battery.
I've had the same problem. Sometimes I plug mine into a wall charger and it reads Charging (USB) which may be your problem. Other times it reads Charging (AC).

It's been off of the charger for about an an hour and a half and nothing out of the norm is draining the battery. Screen on time is at 40%, but that's because I was reading all of my sports news and stuff from my device.
Interesting thing to note: I'm at 79% on my Nexus 4 after about an hour and a half unplugged and doing regular browsing. I'm at 98% on my 4s with doing just about the same things as I've done on my Nexus 4, and even watching a YouTube video on my 4s. I've also had a great deal of voice calls and texts this morning to my iPhone. They were neck and neck when I first got my N4 on December 10th. Now, it's dying faster. The only difference is that I've installed Spotify on my Nexus 4 since then... Which isn't running.

Yeah it sometimes reads USB but if you unplug then plug it back in, it will change to AC. Not sure how to fix it but that's your problem right there.

Depends on the charger. I think the nexus 4 ships with a 1-amp charger. Quick chargers will charge faster (usually 2-amp or higher), but are not good for your battery's life expectancy.
You are lucky!
It takes my phone about 8.5 hours to go from 10% to 100% with the stock 1.2A charger....
I suspect a faulty USB connector on the phone.
It takes me 3 hours to go from 0 – 100. I am not using the stock charger. I am using the old charger from my g2. I guess I should try using the stock charger.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
The majority of your phones charge takes place from ~80-100%.
0 to ~80% should be a "quick charge" that will take much less time to complete.
Also, the charger being more than the stock Amps shouldn't affect the time.
Less, yes. More, no.
The phone will only accept a maximum charge rate that the manufacturers have deemed "acceptable" or "safe" for the device.
hi,
perhaps slightly off-topic, but still about the charger...
So I have the original LG nexus 4 charger, and I also have charger from my samsung tablet. One thing I noticed is that my nexus would charge from any of these two, however the tablet would charge only from its original charger (looks like it requires more output power??). Now my question is: is it ok to charge Nexus from the (more powerful) samsung tablet charger?? Or is it going to affect in any way the battery lifetime, and i should use original charger for each device?
