Guys, as I am truly annoyed by the fact stock JB is draining like hell, I would like to know the best rom available now. If any of you have good experience with a particular rom let me know

Try Adam's ROM I'm getting similar battery life as in ics
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2
It's most likely not a ROM issue. I tried Adams and CM10 and had similar battery life. Make sure you turn off google now (just the cards that need to know your location constantly). It might also be that your update didn't go that well, so you might try a factory reset. It could also be a misbehaving app, so when you do a factory reset, maybe test the ROM before restoring/reinstalling your apps. Also, the more information you give us the better we can help. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I installed the stock factory image 4.0.4 and then waited for the official OTA. I updated and all works well, but I get around 15 hrs on a full charge with some Whatsapp and Facebook use. When I use it more intense with more screentime the battery drains the most. I think a factory reset wont give me more battery life then this, but I know my drain was not so big while I was on ICS.
By the way, which one is the most stable; CW10 (That chocolate river one??) or Jellybelly?

Sounds weird. But also keep in mind that there are still some apps that don't cope very well with JB, and Facebook has never been Androids best friend . But it doesn't make sense that it's only during screen on, most people report issues related to google now and apps doing **** in the background. If you want to switch ROM anyways, I suggest you use Adams Jellybelly, it's mostly stock (less features means less that can go wrong) and it includes thalamus kernel, which is IMHO the best JB kernel at the moment. I do not recommend any CM10 based ROMs if you're after stability. I assume you checked your battery stats and didn't find anything?
Edit: Chocolate river was abandoned when official OTA came afaik, so definitely Jellybelly . Make sure you do a full wipe though, if something's wrong dirty flashing isn't worth it.

Sounds good to me. Downloading Jellybelly now. I checked my battery stats and didn't find anywhing weird. I dont have much apps installed so there is not much that could give issues. When I leave my screen off (at night or while working) the battery life is not that bad. It's weird, but JB is still very fresh and new, so I'll just try some other roms =)
Agreed jelly belly provides the best performance, stability, and battery life

Wouldn't agree that jellybelly provides best performance and battery. I suggest trying out cm10 v1.2

I am currently on JellyBelly and the battery life is definitely not better than stock for me. Battery drains like crazy when idling.
BUT, I do have Google Now activated. So really make sure to deactivate if you do not need it.
IMO all ROMs should give similar battery life.

Even with Google now turned on the battery should last some time. Do You get the same time as with ICS when it's deactivated? If not, something's borked .
Even if the battery life isnthe same with Jellybelly, the performance is great!

Well its official... 2.3.4 DOES still have the android OS drain problem!
My phone had an issue with the usb port and had to be sent away for repair last week.
I picked my phone up on Monday (2 days ago) after it had been repaired and it had been upgraded whilst it was away from 2.2.1 JPY ( I flashed it back to stock JPY before sending it away ) to 2.3.4 JVQ.
I have read a lot of posts debating that the OS problem is due to custom kernels etc etc, but my phone is still at the moment completely stock with only a few apps installed.
It was ok for the first 2 days but i have taken it off charge this morning and the android OS was draining 47% battery!
I lost 12% battery in 2 hours.
So yes the android OS bug DOES still exist n 2.3.4 stock roms.

I've never had OS drain in 2.3.4
Mostly this bug is caused to an app that doesnt let your phone go to sleep. Deinstall some apps and watch your drain again

As far as i'm concerned your talking out your arse!
Mine is completely stock JVQ updated through kies, with heavy use i can get a day out of it and with light use just over 2.
As far as im concerned YOUR talking out of YOUR arse.
Mine is completly stock JVQ flashed from the samsung repair center and i got android OS drain after 2 days of having the phone back with like 4 apps installed from the market.

Try putting your wifi to sleep when the screen is off
Oh and that is unofficial but works
and there is a section that tells you now what its doing
The only bug that is left is the Phone FC problem
Why not just go back to Froyo, it's not that much different from GB anyway?...

GB is like the Custom ROM version of Froyo.
I guess it comes down to speed vs battery life...

I've never had OS drain on 2.3.3 stock after clearing cache partition and dalvik cache. Need root to clear dalvik cache though. Battery life is great seems much better than tweaked 2.2.1.

Even if it's "official" I oppose all the opinions that Froyo was so much better for battery life:
I have been running every GB Stock ROM (with Voodoo or Hardcore Kernel) and the battery life with my 200+ apps is slightly better (after a workday with wifi on I still have 30-40% battery left with GB instead of runnning empty on Froyo). I had battery drain after flashing some of the stock rom versions, but I also used Titanium Backup to restore system settings so I blame this for the bad battery life.
Now - running on JVR with Hardcore K15i T10 - everything works great!
But, if you feel like going back to Froyo, do so and stop complaining about problems with GB you most certainly triggered yourself....
BTW, even if if this is OT, could you please use more specific thread titles and stop insulting yourselves?
Well I don't no where to start really as I know I will get told off for making a new thread about battery life!
But this is hopefully some help for people out there that are trying to get a decent ROM and kernel to improve your battery life, well mine has really improved since flashing my Samsung GS2 with Lite'ning ROM 6.1 and flashing the kernel with SpeedMOD T-40.
I have spent lots of hours reading forums about battery life, I think I have tried everything known to man about this phone, somethings worked well somethings didn't, I wanted to get a decent battery life with out sacrificing any features I love about my phone!
When I got into rooting, about 2 months ago I was a n00b, but I stuck to it and learnt a lot each day, it's not easy and you can't expect someone to tell you how to do it, you have to read up about it like everyone else!
But anyway back to why I've created a new thread, well after installing Lite'ning ROM 6.1 at the beginning of the week which I really like as it keeps the Samsung software, I've used TB Pro to freeze the Hubs as I don't use them, the battery life wasn't what I thought, in fact I think I got a better battery life with the stock rom unrooted
I did some researching and found that the kernel can make a difference to (I'm still learning) so after reading some forums I learnt that speedmod kernel worked well with Lite'ning ROM, as It was just the kernel that came with the ROM, ninphetamine 2.0.5, so I flashed the kernel last night with Odin and within minutes I was back up and running.
I then charged the phone 100% and then use a battery calibrator app to wipe battery stats, I then did a basic test which I previously did before, I went to sleep with a fully charged phone, I left everything on: WIFI, mobile data network and sync on set my alarm clock and went to sleep (p.s I checked a few websites so battery actually went down to 98%)
8 hours later I woke up checked my phone to see what % it was left one, previously on stock ROM with same set up my phone would be on 65% due to the Android OS bug running high! This time it was on 91%, so that's less than 1% drain an hour! Happy or what!
I know some people might not say this was a actual battery test but to me it is and I can see a big difference, funny thing is the AOS was showin 35% in batt stats, which is strange!
Now as I write this at 1pm my phone has been on for 14hrs and I'm still at 75%, yes I know the first 8 hrs was in standbye, but I've had a lot of notifications come through from G+ this morning and I'm pretty happy with what I have got set up now, without compromise as well!
I will upload a screen shot later if any wants to see when my battery stats when its down to 1% etc
I hope his helps some people out there, but I wanted to keep it simple for some as I was once a n00b (might still be)

Then i just installed CM 7.1 with Rom Manager, not sure which kernel is it
if you are gonna try cm7 try the latest nightly build....thats pretty more stable than the "stable" version...i think build 83 is out today and that will have pretty much more bug fixes and i hope they can get that browser lag fixed and thats pretty done deal for me to switch over to that completely

Also which Android version is it based on?
Happy!
So as promised here are screen shots of my phone running at 1%, I forgot to screen shot CPU spy as well (sorry) but I can say that with this set up I am really happy, as I cannot remember when with general use I have managed to get over a day with out charging my phone, iPhone 4 included!
If there is a better set up out there with a newer ROM I would be interested as this is based on 2.3.4 tho Google Talk video works so I'm happy

nightly there is a new one coming out today version 83...still few bugs they need to sort out but once that is done il be on there...that firmware is based on 2.3.7.
im using speedmod latest kernel..it does not support bln or bootlogo but i would sacrifice all that for a decent battery life which i am getting....so far 5 and half hours past and im down to 75% and 2hours screen on time....not bad i think

the battery does not drain so much
As I've posted in the other battery thread, I'm definitely seeing worse battery life running ICS. It's about 10% less than what I'm used to seeing by the end of the day, while maintaining about the same usage.
So, no one knows anything?
I'm at 10hrs with 31% battery left. As someone else wrote its about 10% more than normal at this time of the day for me. So not horrible but some improvement would be nice, its not enough for me to go back to GB. NS4G

Google hasn't announced anything so no one knows. I'm pretty sure most employees do not return to work until next Monday, so I wouldn't expect anything new for at least a week or two.
I'm pretty sure that this bug will be fixed right away

I had the same issue in the beginning, but not any more after a hard reset with G+ & location services disabled. Actually, the battery performance is awesome.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I'm also assuming since this is 4.0.3, it already addressed bugs that were in .1 and .2 builds. I wouldn't expect a .4 anytime too soon.
But hopefully better battery life is among the improvements.
Myself
I had no problem with battery drain myself, but a really annoying bug - music was stopping itself withing 1-10 minutes after I`d started it. Wipe didn`t help. Sh*t!
So I guess all we can do is wait.

CyanogenMod 7 with tiamat kernel gets pretty good battery life. The kernels tend to have mor eaffect on battery life then the roms themselves.

Sounds like she might have 4g running all the time. Or maybe she might be updating/refreshing her background data to often. Only use 4g to down load big files or steaming vedio. Check her 4g connection and turn off or her sync rate set it to every 3 hours or more. If one or both are the culprit then she'll see a big improvement.
I run EVO Deck rom with cyanogenmod love it. And every thing works.
Hope this helps
I figured I'd chime in because you said you wanted a fully functioning ROM. CM7 and Deck had always yielded the best battery life for me with the last rev of the Savage Zen Kernel, but if you're like me and are very anal about the phrase "fully functioning" then it should be noted that the AOSP ROMs don't have 720p video recording. If that doesn't bother you than CM7 or Deck all the way.
That said i'm running TommyTomato's Classic ROM with the Freedom Agressive kernel and I'm getting 25+ hours on a charge which puts it on par with any AOSP ROM/kernel combo I've run. Might be able to get a little better on AOSP, but I'd say that's pretty damn good and it's fully functioning as in EVERYTHING works 100%.

But I realized yesterday that I had SetCPU at 700mhz to save battery. I uninstalled it and the battery life wasn't dropping so rapidly. I can't say that was the issue. I'll have to run a few more test.

I'm on Tommys Classic Supermagic, running the Hard to kill battery calibration script from Zepplins thread and i'm getting the best battery life i've had on any other rom and i've used this script with about 10 different roms, from AOSP to Sense 3.0,wont run 3.5 because of bugs and no 4G,after a full charge with alot of phone calls, texts and surfing,i held a charge for 4 days,it was 67% on the second day and actually died on the forth AM.
I'd definitely do a comparison between screen-on and awake time.
If you don't know this, you can access it through Settings > About Phone > Battery Use/History/Etc. See if the bar graphs of screen-on match awake. If you see a long bar under awake, but not a matching one under screen-on, you probably have a process or app that is stuck and needs to be removed/re-installed or have it's data cleared.
Note: it's normal to have some awake time that doesn't match screen on as apps/processes still have to perform there activities even with the screen-off, however, it shouldn't be a ton.
The best app out there to study this IMO is betterbatterstats. Hope this helps! Cheers!

I've done facebook, viber, internet using stock browser and downloading around 200mb zip file. what can you say about this battery life. its my first time to use gs2 and I am using 2000mah. the battery life seems pretty bad in my opinion. I will attach screenshot of my hardware info, battery use and screen time. hoping for any opinions out there

I think is good , for me with stock battery (1650mah) i get 3 hours and 30-40 minutes (screen on time), wifi on , screen brightness auto
Send from my SGS2 I9100 with HassanROM and latest DorimanX 8.xx kernel
I think the battery life should be better with a 2000mah battery..
Is the battery properly callibrated??

oh really that means I should be getting better because I am on 2000mah but it seems not. Im not sure what's the problem if its the battery or the kernel. I also used an ICS firmware from Samsung I9100TDULP4. I don't know if that affects the battery life

Well I dont know if it is properly calibrated. By the way I got this unit from my uncle so I am not really sure if the battery is still good. How do we know if its still good. I dont know how old is this battery. How do we calibrate the battery and does the room affect this battery life?

by the way I just installed this rom A week ago. The battery takes 3-4 hours to be charged using my xperia charger

I have suggestion for you , go to miuiandroid.com and download the latest build , install Siyah Kernel v6.0b5 with that and you will love the battery timing on that (Trust me, i am using it right now)

you mean downloading the miui rom? yeah definitely I'll give it a try after slimbean which I will try if I see no improvement on the bAttery. Has anyone had 2000mah and siyah kernel with supernexus rom build 5? What are your timings?

right now I am using the original 1650 mah stock battery of s2. I've been doing a lot of file transfers as of this moment via e.s. file explorer and currently I am transferring almost 13gb of data via wifi from my laptop. its been awake for 4 hours now with screen time of 1 hour and 30min. e.s. file explorer is keeping the system awake for 3 hours. I did some facebook and viber chats. screen at 35% brightness.. do you think this is the expected life of the stock battery? I am fairly new to samsung and I found the battery life to be disappointing even with the stock jelly bean rom from samsung. I will post some pics of the battery stats and cpu stats from cpu spy. another thing though. is there a good app from the market where I can test my two batteries and compare them? thank you

To callibrate battery..first completely drain the battery to about 5%, then charge the phone non stop without disturbing it till 100% and immediately remove the charger..again fully drain the battery and follow the above steps and u will get better battery life after a few cycles!
About roms..battery life does differ from rom to rom...i suggest u could check the custom kernels packed with zzmoove governor, ithat particular governor definitely improves the battery backup!
And in the above post es file explorer is eating ur battery..for that u should download greenify and hibernate apps continuously running in background!
great. I will follow your steps. one more thing. how can I know if the battery is still good or if its still holding the proper charge its suppose to have? thanks

best I can get is about 3 days standby in jb stock.
I use the 2000mAh battery is primary battery.. no big surprise to expect here, capacity is just 21% more by construction...
With wifi on, JB burns in my case about 3% in IDLE.. stock kernel.. and about 5% in 3G mode, IDLE.. then battery drains more or less fast depending on screen on, phone calls etc. I use the phone extensively for work (email sync & replies, phone calls, sms and voip) and i have to topup the battery twice or trice a day!
Have tried various custom kernels with all sort of magic to reduce battery drain.. more or less effectively.. sometimes with less stability.
Right now trying out latest dorimanx 8.27.. seems thatn IDLE with WIFI on drains around 2% per hour.. better than stock.. still not quite awesome
I miss the GB battery life.. but JB is so beautiful in comparison, I cannot go back!

Does Jb stock for you has better life or does custom rom have more? I really like the custom roms but as per observation stock rom offers more battery time. Right now I just reverted to stock rom i9100xwlss. Touchwiz really sucks. Supernexus is really beautiful but offers less battery (but I will have to try yet their latest build). Also one of the reasons for going back to stock is the camera shot quality. Custom roms really have poor camera quality. I guess when it comes to lowlight shots the stock roms are best. So much for that. Does stock rom offer more battry for you or custom rom does?

Below is a reply in some other forum by Samsung offcials regarding a specific method to Hard-Reboot your phone after a Firmware update: This method particularly helped me improve the battery life on SGS2 after 4.1.2 update.
"1. I’m sorry you are having issues with your device after upgrading the firmware. I can understand your frustration about this.
Old systems settings can be left on the phone after an update occurs, which is why we usually recommend a full factory reset after updating. If this isn’t done your device may begin to give false readings from system resources, or experience technical problems, which may explain the issue you are having.
We would advise on doing the following, which is designed to reset the settings on your device. Please back up your device using Samsung KIES before you do this.
1) Remove the battery for at least 40 minutes, put the battery back in and allow it to fully discharge. Afterwards, perform a full battery charge with the device turned off. Do not interrupt the charging process.
2) After the battery is fully charged, we would like you to perform a full factory reset, which can be done via Settings > Backup > Reset.
This process will reset your device, remove old system files that are no longer needed and enable your device to operate normally again.
Please let us know if your device continues to experience problems after the reset so we can investigate further.
If you require any further assistance, please contact Samsung again and we will be more than happy to help.
Kind regards,
Stewart

Actually I only use stock JB.. and trying to get it last longer with some custom kernels.. recently trying snapdragon rom, which is stock JB as well but with some S4 apk made compatible with S2... tried some time back omega, vanila rootbox and some other android builds for s2.. but was facing few stability issues / bugs and also missed some features that i was getting from stock rom.. so i gave up with these... now just aiming at stability and if possible battery endurance.. but not at the cost of stability.
