After spending time searching the net for a solution i couldnt find anything as it seems my problem is unique. The issue is when i connect to my router through wifi every thing goes fine however when i go out of range or disconnect for a while and try to reconnect i get a message "Connecting..." then "Disconnected" and it never connects until I restart the router. The issue was worse where it connects for 1 time but the next time it does not detect the router, this was resolved by setting the wifi channel from auto to channel 6. But now i am stuck with this issue that has no solution. I have tried everything from static IPs to mac filtering, i also wanted to update the router (gigaset 504 agu) firmware but could find it. I am currently using x10 with firmware 026 -global. If anyone has a solution plz share it as this problem is really annoying

I have the same problem with my netgear router, it is very annoying...I think this a known issue with some android phones and certain routers.
Its seems no one has a solution, I guess we need to wait for 2.1 and see if the update resolves this issue

Well you could provide internet connection to your phone via your computer. What OS do you have and what kind of internet connection (wired/wireless) does your computer use?
Not that I've ever tried or used it seen as I don't have issues but perhaps this might miracally work..

I believe its worth a shot
P.s - Im pretty sure I've read up on a similar thread to this before..?

It's an android problem. I have this with my x10 and froyo nexus one. The only solution is to quick toggle wifi on/off in the power management widget. I've seen this happen on a Linksys wrt54g and wrt120n. Same with a D-Link dir655m and dgl-4300. If you are really unlucky like me. Having wifi and bluetooth on at the same time with this problem will cause your phone to either freeze or reboot on its own.
I get this with some routers, what works for me is. Data /3G, wifi off, 3g on, wifi on. I use switch pro to quickly configure the toggles.

I use switchpro widget as well...
just to be clear...do you mean you switch off data/mms then wifi off...then switch on data/mms and wifi.
thanx guys for the reply, but none of the mentioned solutions worked
I am seriously thinking of moving out of android because of this issue, its as if the phone doesn't have wifi?!?!
My wireless internet connection worked perfectly until recently.
Right now I am typing on my Dell laptop with a 100% wifi connection.
but my Acer iconia tab 500, which is 5 inches away keeps showing this message under the Wireless & networks tab in the settings menu
Obtaining IP address from lynksys
Scanning
Obtaining IP address from lyncksys
Scanning
and over and over again.
Any ideas why this is happening.?

how about a link to a thread with a solution. thanks
Reset
Just push the reset button with a paperclip and let it reboot. That has always solved the issue for me.
search harder
Hundreds of references to this problem. Either hard reset twice or root your tab and delete the bugged file. Also, update your wifi's router firmware and you are likely to avoid this problem in the future. Or use a static IP.
Not quite sure what problem you are having with search, searching for 'Acer iconia a500 wifi issue" brings up all relevant information.
Good luck!
my wifi disconnects so i reconnect it after that i can't connect my note 10.1 to my wifi. what seems to be the problem? please anyone help me.
DId you try with any other network and see if you still have the problem also try restarting your router.
nevermind. its fixed already. i think note 10.1 has a problem with DHCP. so ive change it to static and i works. no problems at all.
My new galaxy s4 I9500 has been working fine until 2 days ago when the wifi started reconnecting every few seconds. I'm not sure what the problem is and I cannot find a solution for this. I have read the issues with the D-Link routers however I use a Netgear router and all devices except the galaxy s4 can connect fine without any issues. It started happening after my phone automatically updated to version: I9500UBUAMDK, but I am not sure if it has to do with software.
If anyone else is having the same problem or has a solution, please help me through this issue, thanks.
Anyone? It's the only problem I am currently facing with the phone and is a major problem for me as i use Wifi at home all the time. Please help me solve the issue and I'll be so happy!

Thank you for the reply, and yes I have read that this problem is mostly on D-Link routers and that there are many fixes for that, however I am currently using a Netgear router which I haven't heard many people having problems on, so there are not so many fixes out there for that. Thank you for the reply though, I will continue to look for a solution.

Try changing the channel width to 20Mhz. After I did that the reconnecting issue was gone on my D-link router, but as you've read at 54g speeds. I can now stream video to my TV without it stopping. I am contemplating buying a new 802.11ac router to connect at 433Mbps as my D-link is too slow for my broadband now. I hope that helps.

Changing Wifi channel width from 40 MHz to 20 MHz solved wifi dropping and reconnecting problem for me also. I have Asus RT-N16 with latest updates. Also on my SGS4 has latest updates, stock android 4.4.2.
I used Wifi scanner, and there should not be any interference with my Wifi station. I have channel 1 and my neightbour has channel 7 Wifi. Wifi signal is also strong for my router. I was wondering how this can be possible, as any other device had not dropped connections @40 MHz widht, BUT a brand new Galaxy S4 GT-I9506 drops it withing minutes again and again?
Hey guys
I have my Oppo Find 5 X909 and even though I am very happy with it there is one weird problem that I'm facing. When I connected my phone to Wi-Fi it connected to the router via the Wi-Fi repeater and it worked perfectly. But then one day the repeater was turned off and i connected directly to the router and even though it showed me that it connected succesfully I couldn't do anything that required internet. For instance i tried surfing the web with my Chrome app and it showed me a DNS problem which is weird because all the other devices in the house work just fine whether they're connected directly to the router or via the repeater. I tried restarting the router and making the phone forget the settings and readding them with no results.
I checked the official Oppo Find 5 forum and found that noone else was facing with such a problem and I have no idea where to look for the answers. I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me with the problem.
PS: my phone is running the latest Color ROM international build but I noticed the problem also on the newest official international ROM. Also the phone is unrooted
No such problem for me. I'm on latest Color ROM as well :-/

For some reason updating the router firmware fixed the problem. Thank you for the reply nonetheless

I'm having the same problem. Also only with one AP in my network. When the problem appears, no other device can access the internet through this AP. Sometimes even my wired PCs can't get access to the network.
My workaround is to try to always connect to my other AP.
I'm on CM 10.1 Nightlies. The AP is a Linksys WAP610N
