Stuck at bootup - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got my nexus 7 yesterday and straight away unlocked it with adb and flashed cwm and superuser. I've just tried to boot into recovery (turned off, held volume up + down then power, selected recovery) and it's just stuck at the black screen with Google in white and the unlocked logo.
Can't really do a battery bull on these soooo.... any ideas?
Edit: forget it, after about 20 minutes, literally after posting this, it booted back into android like normal <_<

Glad you got it working just a little tip tho cause I did something similar and I wiped data and formatted system to flash a new ROM, then I accidentally pressed reboot so I couldn't get into android or recovery cause as of right now you can manually boot to recovery , solution just use the one click method to root and it will take you directly to recovery the you can mount storage and flash a ROM

Unplug your device. Hold the power button until it turns off. Then hold volume up, volume down, and the power button. It should boot you into recovery.

I'm sure there are more ways to deal with this, but I personally would just flash a custom recovery from bootloader and re flash the rom. Probably the easiest way to go about it. Others may have a better idea.

What did you do before? If you flashed a new ROM / Kernel, most likely they are not compatible.

You may have no choice but to flash my friend. Sounds like you had an unlucky gremlin.

... but if it's still locked, you need to unlock and then you will loose all your data
@verysalty: Did you try already to access the system with adb? Do you have debugging option switched on? Then you could try to do a backup of all your data before.

Sorry, no debungging mod on...
How can i flash my nexus to stock. easy way please.
The easiest way in my opinion:
- unlock boot loader (you will loose all your data!)
- download factory image from Google
- flash the factory image (fastboot or adb)
I am wondering why synchronizing some files with dropbox is causing a boot loop ???

Had a very similar issue today
Nexus started rebooting in the middle of different apps 2-3 times last night.
charged it overnight, unplugged it and went to class.
Then progressed to rebooting after only 40 seconds after the lock screen loaded from the reboot
40 secs wasn't enough time to do anything in android so after much research this is how I fixed it:
- in the 40 secs that android worked I pressed and held the power button and powered it down to stop the boot loop.
- when it was finally shut down I pressed and held the power and vol dwn buttons til the recovery menu appeared.
- used the vol buttons to select recovery, then pressed power
- When the android with the red exclamation point (!) showed up I pressed power then vol up and released for the menu to appear.
- Selected and execute Factory Reset. Then wipe Cache. then reboot, fixed the problem so far, now I'm re-installing apps.
I talked with a google rep about the problem, said it could me anything from a poorly written app, to a corrupted boot sequence.
Anyone know what may have caused this, so I don't inadvertently cause it to happen again??

I had the exact same issue from your description, I solved it after I read someone else disconnected the battery. Its a pretty quick fix to what looks like an unrecoverable problem loop of switching on, then powering down.
Here's what I did:
Open the back using just my nail on one corner , it snaps off easy pesy, trust me
Use ifixit nexus 7 battery replacement guide , steps 1-6 only, note where they use a tool I used a pair of nail scissors to prise the connector out and back in
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing+Nexus+7+Battery/9895/1
Pulling the battery out, as with any android device can work.
Total time 2 mins
It was working again before I put the back cover on.

HELP!!! Stuck on boot screen????

I had rooted my 8 gig Nexus 4 and decided to go back to stock. I downloaded the correct image files from the google website and flashed them using fastboot as I have done many times before with my GN and Nexus S models.
After I flashed the files and do a re-boot, the phone just hands on the nexus (X) startup logo?
I tried booting back into recovery and I get the upside-down android with the red triangle, at this point I have tried holding the volume up key and pressing the power key, but I can't get the menu screen so I can do a factory reset??? I have tried holding the volume down and power keys, both the volume keys and power keys, but no luck getting the menu screen?
I am totally disgusted with this LG product, I NEVER had this issue with any of the previous samsung nexus products. Am I BRICKED?, any help would be appreciated please.
I even tried re-flashing the google system files again and no such luck.
If the phone turns on it isn't bricked. It also has nothing to do with it being an LG device.

Which recovery are you using?

I finally got it to go into the menu screen and did a factory reset and I am fine now. This was one of the worst ones I have worked with trying to flash back to stock. If they would have had a battery you could pull out, I think that would take care of some of the issues. Oh well, I am up and running.
Same problem. Downloaded and installed the Google Nexus 4 image and it said it installed OK, but when I restarted the phone it was stuck at the Google screen.
EDIT: Rebuilt all software on the phone and it is working OK again.

[Q] Nexus 10 Bricked :/

Hey,
I need some help with my Nexus 10, it's stuck at the moment.
I ran fastboot oem unlock via the Samsung Google Nexus 10 ToolKit 1.3.0 (updated for 4.2.2) and as soon as it was done it rebooted and was stuck...
Booting normally it gets to the bootlogo and just sits there forever, going round and round and round.
If I try to boot into fastboot it shows that it's unlocked but I can't change change to recovery using the volume rocker it's just a solid static screen, only choice is to start which boots back into the normal boot logo.
I have no way to use adb or fastboot... it's just stuck :/ How do I recover/unbrick this?
Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm on the xda-devs irc at the moment and we've got so far... but still its messed up.
- Recovery is dead (can't get into it atm, orange triangle guy every time)
- Flashed stock via fastboot and unrooted, but on reboot I get the triangle guy.
- I can boot into unsecure roms (temporary)
- I can boot into temporary recoverys, clearing cache works but davlik cache and factory reset doesn't work both say "failed"
I'm currently awaiting the guy whos been helping me get back from the shops.
From what I remember you need to either install something or run a command after "oem unlock" for security reasons. Android wont let you boot back into the OS until you have wiped all the data after the unlock.
The orange guy means it's working. There's a button combo to hit at that screen to get the recovery to boot. Once there do a factory reset and your done.
That's why toolkits sick, they teach you nothing and when they break your stuck

Can you flash a factory image to it via fastboot?

The pressing 3 buttons at once; cycling to recovery... method wasnt working because there was no recovery accessable what so ever and temporary recoveries weren't working.
That's what a few guys in IRC said too about the toolkits haha
Thankfully some guy by the name of YellowGTO spent some time helping me out and we finally got there in the end, he's awesome and extremely patient

Okay, updates for everyone just incase someone else gets the problem.
- Factory Images via fastboot flashed fine but never stuck, just kept returning me to triangle dude.
- Fix permissions, did nothing
- Restoring stock recovery did nothing, I still couldn't get to a recovery.
- Temporary recoveries only had limited functionality.
I decided to unlock an already unlocked phone again
I flashed stock, Ran file permissions
Used the temporary recovery to clear the cache/davlik (previously didn't work)
I re-rooted, Installed TWRP 2.4.4.0, this finally stuck.
I double checked that it had stuck by booting the system, rebooting into recovery, powering device of and powering it on to Android. It was all working perfectly.
I then made my backup and put a custom rom and kernel on, it's working lovely now.
It seems that somewhere during the oem unlock it messed up some partitions or something resulting in recoveries and flashing not to work/stick.
Good to hear it's working for you. The issue is that the stock N10 bootloader does not wipe the data partitions correctly as it should. So after an unlock you need to go into the stock recovery and wipe it. Boot once, then go and flash all your flasheys

That's the thing, the recovery wasn't available in any way shape or form and temporary recoveries wouldn't wipe the cache... the oem unlock went wrong somehow even though it had full power, wasn't interrupted or anything.
I'm glad it's all working now, I thought the device was completely dead at one stage.
I think you had the problem almost everyone runs into:
As you can see in the video, you just have to try for a bit to actually get the recovery menu to open - My heart dropped a little before I knew that as well

lg nexus 4 stuck on nexus logo after factory reset

Hi guys. My nexus 4 is rooted. Everything was perfect. I just wanted to do a fresh start. I did factory reset. Then it rebooted. Came to language selection. I selected English and than suddenly screen was black and nothing happened. I restarted again and it stuck on nexus logo. I did downloaded root toolkit 1.63 and it found my model and its selected 4.2.2 automatically. Then it downloaded stock image file and said my device adb error saying need to select USB debugging mode. I can't cause its stuck. Now about the rom it was liquidsmooth rom. Please help me how to go back to stock android 4.2.2. Thanks.

sorry, but for the stock img flash isn't needed just the bootloader mod? The deb mod is useless for this!
Throw it in the trash.
dont use a toolkit, they can create more issues than they are worth. boot into the bootloader, then flash the stock image via fastboot. thats all.
Thanks a lot. I sold it. My bad. Dn wanna use custom rom again.
