I just a nexus 7 from staples, and just realized I have a loose screen from the left side. I cannot return it to staples because I did not purchase a protection plan . Has anyone purchased the nexus 7 from a store and try to get a replacement with google play store? I just emailed google play store and because of the high demand in customer service I have to wait a couple days to get a response.

If you're fairly confident you can use a plastic tool to pop the back case off from the screen and gently tighten the screws up your self.

Staples has a 14 day 100% satisfaction return policy. Has it been more than 2 weeks since you bought it?
Staples Return Policy said:
Easy Returns.
If you’re not 100% satisfied with your Staples purchase, return it for any reason.
Technology and Business Machines: Technology and business machines may only be returned within 14 days of the date of receipt, including Staples® brand technology and business machine products.
Returns with a receipt: If you paid with cash, debit card, or check, we’ll refund your purchase with cash if it was an in–store purchase or by check if you purchased through staples.com®. If you paid using a debit card and if the card and PIN are present during the refund, we'll credit the account used for payment. If your purchase exceeded $500 pretax, and you paid with cash, check or by debit card but do not have your debit card, your money will be refunded in the form of a corporate check. If you paid by credit card, we'll credit the account used for payment.
Any product that is returned without a promotional item(s), which was included in the original transaction (e.g. buy a printer, get free ink), will have the value of the promotional item deducted from the amount refunded.
Returns without a receipt: If you don't have your receipt, your return is eligible only for an in–store credit for the lowest selling price within the previous 30 days in our U.S. stores. Valid government identification is required for all non–receipted returns. We carefully monitor returns and in some cases returns made or without a receipt may be refused. Staples reserves the right to deny any return.

The protection plan is like an in-store warranty service. It doesn't mean they won't accept returns otherwise.
It has only been a day since I purchased the device. However, I don't want to return it, I really like the device. I want to exchange it for a non-defective one.

Then take your refund and get in line.
Google is processing orders and exchanges for Play store customers. You're not going to be processed before them. The larger capacity is backordered.
This is partly why I ordered the 8 after returning my defective 16 to Sam's. I'd rather deal with Google, and the 8 will arrive much sooner.
You, my friend, are a genius.

So, I pre-ordered when the device was announced. On July 3rd I canceled my play store order, called, talked to a guy, confirmed it was canceled. And I have been waiting for JR.com to send the same one for $50 less ($20 tax, $15 shipping $15 4th promo) $50 less is a lot for an item at this price point.
However.. it seems Google charged me and shipped anyway! even after I had seen it removed from my wallet and been told on the phone it was canceled.
But here it is...
What would be the best choice here?
Get both, inspect & see which one is better (for issues) then sell the other one? Refuse the shipment from Play?
Sell the one you don't want, give as a gift, or send it back.

So, I purchased my Nexus 4 through the Google Play store and will be using in with Tmobile (US). After searching around and not really getting a solid answer, I called T-Mobile to ask if the Play Store purchased Nexus 4 qualifies to be protected through T-Mobile's Equipment Protection program (insurance). Well, I still didn't get a solid answer. The rep was not sure off hand and had to do some searching. The best she could do was figure that more than likely it will be, but nothing said for sure yet.
She mentioned that it probably would be since it is a supported device, and that "they made an exception for the Nexus 1, so that may be an indication that the Nexus 4 will be supported." (obviously Nexus 1 was only sold through Play Store directly, not through any carriers, yet because it was supported on the Tmobile network they insured it).
I was told to keep the current insurance program that I have on my HTC One S because it should automatically transfer over to the new phone once activated, however it still was not for sure, and I should just call back a couple times until they have a final answer.
What are your experiences? Has anybody else called Tmobile and been told the same, or different?
Also, anybody have experience with SquareTrade phone insurance? Does it work well or is it a big hassle? Just looking for some input so we know our options if Tmobile doesn't protect it...http://www.squaretrade.com/smartphone
You mean the insurance thru asuron?? From what I researched they still make you pay a 130 deductible even tho the phone only cost 300-350
In planning on removing the plan. Not really worth it if I have to pay 130

Good point...I'm just worried about the glass backing that seems to be drawing a lot of controversy due to breakage.
The monthly fee for my insurance is covered through work, so I only have to pay the deductible, which means I don't have to worry about 2 years (or whatever) of the monthly fees adding up on top of the deductible.
I use Square Trade and very highly recommend them. I had a claim with them on my Nexus S and it was great. No deductible, super fast service, great communication. I get Square Trade warranties on all the electronics I buy now. Well worth it for sure.
The insurance you get through T-Mobile and all the other wireless carriers suck BIG TIME. They've sent me back refurbished phones multiple times, and have even lost another one in the mail somewhere. And on top of that, they've cancelled my insurance through them because THEY lost my phone. After two bad experiences with them, I started looking elsewhere -and that's how I found Square Trade.
Only thing about Square Trade is that they don't cover theft or lost and stolen phones. But I'd still recommend them to anyone for sure!

If you claim you lost the phone, T-Mobile will lock it and it will become a door stop.
Dude I'm in the same exact situation from a one s too I'm pretty sure our handset protection will cover it cause even in their website it shows me having a nexus 4 and the premium protection next to it and I went to a tmobile store and they popped in a atnt Sim card and it authorized it so tmobiles devices are unlocked and the same as the play store ones so it should be all cool

This is true. Assurion tried to charge me $150 to replace my Nexus One when I broke the screen. This was on top of the $6/month I had been paying them for insurance for the previous 8 months. So the total cost of replacement through Assurion came to $198. At that point I decided to call Google and they told me they would replace the phone for $140+shipping.
Naturally, I decided to go straight through Google for the replacement. The next day I called T-Mobile retention and raised hell about the situation, telling them that Assurion was a huge rip-off and that I wanted to cancel the insurance and have the previous 6 months of insurance payments to be credited back to my account. The representative was very helpful. She removed the insurance and credited the past 6 months of insurance payments to my account.
That experience taught me to avoid insurance for my Nexus devices. If you look around there are a couple of threads of people who have already broken their Nexus 4's and Google charged them $160 for a replacement. So I've decided just to put an extra $160 away (profit from selling the SIII) and if the phone breaks then I'm going straight to Google.
I'm replacing my n4 thru Asurion and i bought this one on clist brand new.
And the seller brought it from the play store.
My phone fell and my back screen has a bad crack... They're charging me 130$ but its on back order
Oh yea and I'm on T-Mobile

20% off coupon
This is Office Max in-store coupon for 20% off; it includes tablets and eReaders. Of course, Office Max may not be near everyone, but you can try price matching with Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy in-store.
If in-store doesn't work, you can always try through phone order or online chat. I got the 32gb one for $215+tax through Office Depot chat online (rep didn't let me get the 16gb since Office Max website doesn't show the 16gb one).
Used the same coupon and picked up a 32 gb for $233.89 after tax. Good deal! But OM seems to be OOS around orange county, heard they will get new shipment Monday.

Going to try in a little bit. Will report back but I see no reason why this doesn't work/ Also, living in Florida, computer products are tax free this week for back to school. Other people I have come across have reported that tablets fall under this category, which makes sense.
Damn, nearest office max is 40miles away. Had one been closer I would have bought anew 32gb and return my staples 16gb -$30 coupon.

Very nice! I wished it was tax free in CA. I also bought OM protection plan for 2 years. Anyone have experiences with OMs protection plan? Debating if I should cancel it. The girl that worked there said I can return the tablet in any condition within 2 years and either get it replaced or refunded full amount with a gift card. Sounds too good to be true.

You should see if there is a deductible and whether it covers lost/stolen and physical damage.
$54 off is amazing. I would jump on it before OM decides to exclude certain devices or cancels the coupon. I paid full price at Amazon the first day it went on sale (Friday). Paid $300 for Saturday delivery. Returning it and buying locally would be lucrative. I wonder if Amazon will price match if I call them. Tell them I'm within my 30 days and I can save $54 if I go through the hassle.
Hmmm.
I sent them an Email saying that I am within my return policy and would like to see if they would Price Match the coupon. I linked the coupon and the a image of the scanned receipt. We shall see.
Just took the coupon up to Best Buy to see if they'd price match a refund since I bought mine on Friday, and they did. I walked out with $49 cash in my pocket. Thanks OP!

Yep. It's in their best interest to do so, otherwise I'd return it and then buy another for the matched price. They don't want to end up with an extra used device that can't be sold new.

Got mine from BB last week and used a GC for part of the purchase, called them up and they said they do not price match post sale.
But are you saying if they did give a refund from a price match after sale....and you used a gift card for part or all of the purchase.....you only get $10 back?
I also thought the salesman at BB told me when I was completing the sale, said "You can not return for refund, you can only return for exchange."
Of course it sort of went in one ear and out the other as I thought to myself....why would I think of returning for a full refund.

Newegg is selling black or white for $259 on ebay
I just got ordered one directly from newegg site the other day for $279. I never dealt with newegg before. Do you think they would adjust the price on my original order to $259?
If I return the $279 back, does newegg pick up the return shipping or do I?
Not going to lose sleep over the $20, but if pretty simple process and minimal hassle, $20 is twenty bucks

You're reading something into the ebay buyer protection program that isn't there. If the item is "not as described" or you didnt received it then it would be covered. Receiving an item with a manufacturing defect is not specified addressed in the terms of the sale and assuming you could utilize the BPP in such a manner would be foolish.
So Newegg doesn't want anything to do with a "I don't like it after all" return, but a new item is covered by manufacturer warranty anyway right?
So it would be more of a pain to deal with manufacturer instead of retailer, but either way you wouldn't be stuck with a lemon right?

Let me share a story that may ease some fears. I dropped my HTC DNA and smashed the screen. Screen repairs are expensive, so I made the mistake of going with the cheapest vendor -- Mission Repair. Not only did they do a shoddy job, gluing the speaker back askew and leaving the red stripes on the side loose, but it was returned with the wifi malfunctioning.
I paid with PayPal (owned by ebay, of course), so I followed their procedures and opened a dispute, where I told my side of the story. Mission Repair actually responded that I should return the unit to them so that they could determine whether there was anything wrong with my phone! Of course this was unacceptable to me, so I escalated the case to a claim, which would force PayPal to intervene. I summed up my story and MR was given 10 or 14 days to respond.
I guess they realized that they had no ground to stand on, because AFAIK PayPal never heard back from them. Right after MR's response period expired, PayPal refunded me the cost of the repair. Well, in the meantime, the problem with my wifi cleared up. I wasn't about to say anything, though, because I felt I deserved at least a response from MR. If the wifi had still been broken, I would have pushed for more than the repair cost.
So, the point of the story is that PayPal and ebay seem serious about resolving disputes. I don't know about ebay buyer protection, but it's easy to get PayPal to arbitrate a claim. If this doesn't put many minds at ease, just look at NewEgg's 99.5% positive rating on ebay.

Preordered Nexus 6p 64 on first day from Google Store
Forgot to include Nexus Protect Plan $89 so I contacted Google to add this to my pre order.
I was told I must cancel my order and re order even though the phone is no longer available, Join the wait list with the Protect Plan.. Then wait for an undetermined time, maybe next year to get the Nexus 6p.
I was told I could order another phone and wait for it then send the phone back in remorse.
Does this make sense to anyone?
Maybe I'll either sell the phone on Ebay for $800 or cancel and jump on the Samsung Note 5 or S6 edge
I should have just kept my Nexus 6 ( Oh well for a forward thinking company, the Emperor still has no cloths )

No it doesn't make sense that Google orders can't be edited.... They should really work in incorporating that feature on their site.

Not just their site, The support group is unable to edit or add to an order. Support called left a message to email them., if I still had a problem. I really hate sending something good back, restocking and keeping a new device from someone else.
Maybe Google should get the " Internship" back to modernize their store. Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson wouldn't do this to me.
