one x camera application - Desire HD General

is there any possibilty to tune-up one x's camera application with full functions to our DHD?
such as fast shooting, HDR function, panaroma function, snapshot during video, etc.?

Simple:
Fast shoting not posible. At least not as fast as x one. Because of camera chip. And the extra processor that is dedicated just fot picture taking.
HDR yes. But Don't expect any picture comperable with one x
Take a picture while taking video . Not possible must have at least dual core. Desire HD hardly keeps working with only videotaking at 720p.
The application itself could be ported but requires kernel 3 and special drivers.
SUM:In my opinion not worth a try.

first of all thank you very much for sharing your opinion.
you may be right q&a section could be more proper for this kind of question, however everybody is focused on "expected ics update" very much in there.
I am using several programs for my camera demands, what I'm asking is a combined solution like hox's camera application.
Actually I tried so many roms with sense 3.5 and 3.6 however their camera applications are not flawless.
Some have panorama in the options, however they do not work as intended.
By the way now I am aware that it will not be possible to have that excellent application (with full working functions) on our old friend.
thank you...

First of all, this is not really the correct section for questions but guess this could lead into some interesting general discussion and theorycrafting.
As far as I know, porting the Sense 4.0 camera w/ features is not possible at all without the required driver information from HTC. Also it is certain that our phones' hardware-specs would not be sufficient for a complete user-experience even if there was a port available.
You might want to look into Sense 3.0/3.5 cameras for taking high-quality panoramas. ICS stock-camera is sometimes more user friendly but the quality is mostly a bit lower. Fast Burst Camera does what it says: takes multiple photos per second. This should serve your needs. Camera apps supporting HDR-effects or similar can be found from the Play store.
Taking photos while capturing video is still a bit of a mystery for me but my lucky guess is that the hardware limitations play a big role in this. Why not just take a screenshot from the media player? High Definition video quality (720p) should do just fine, you just need to use a Gingerbread ROM.

Actually its NOT A DUAL CORE PRICCESOR issue. there are actually two camera chips in the sensor. I did my research

Nexus One Camera Quality

I'll tell ya, the quality of the camera on this thing is bad ass. Attached is a panorama I shot with it yesterday.
The original is really high resolution too.

Glad you were in such a nice place. I was wondering how you took such a good panorama shot? (was it a specific panorama app?)
nice shot.. i too am extremely satisfied with the cam on the nexus. care to share the app you used to take that panorama?
I too am interested in that app

Not sure if there's an app that can be used directly on the phone but there's many PC applications that can stitch together a series of photos flawlessly like this. But if there is one on the phone I'd be interested in it!
And that's a beautiful picture!
It's not an app on the phone. I just shot the photos then stiched them together with Windows Live Photo Gallery.
All you do is put your photos into the live photo gallery, highlight them all, right click and select "make panorama".
The optimized version doesn't do it justice, the original is 7500 pixels wide. Took a lot of other ski photos, it was nice not needing a separate camera - every photo came out stunning.
Looks fantastic! Is that with the Desire Camera, or the stock Nexus one?
This is the Desire ROM Alpha 21. I would assume that this is the desire camera app, although I've never seen the normal nexus app so I wouldn't know.
Thanks for the info. The stock camera is good... but the Desire camera is way more adjustable. So far the standalone Desire camera app that PaulOBrien ported for us is the only reason I'd consider rooting.

Full resolution camera?

Currently, I'm running froyostone and the camera app only displays quality as "3mpx" when in reality the HD2 has a 5mpx one.
Which android build allows full camera quality? Is this the type of thing a new zimage would fix or is it more of a build issue?
It's kind of driving me crazy.... I've built a mostly functional daily use build where everything but the full camera (and WiFi hotspot, which I know is being worked on) is working.
Also, what's the story with 720p video recording? Is the HD2s camera capable of that resolution?
If anyone would like to see the steps I took to make my daily use build, a tutorial is on my website but as a new user, I am unable to post links.

There are already builds with the full 5MP camera working (mattc nexusleo, for example).
Obviously the Leo's camera is able to take 720p videos, and in theory even 1080p, in fact 1920*1080 is something like 2MP... The problem is in codecs and CPU usage, but soon we'll have 720p as the N1 and the Desire have.. And probably we'll never see 1080p because it's too big to calculate proprely for the CPU, and it would take too much space on the SD, too...
mattc NexusLeo v1 has the camera working perfectly at 5mpx.
I don't want to use no sense ROM anymore. The interface is very crude.
Is there any solution for HTC sense ROM with 5MP camera?

Each to their own, but I think the Android 2.2 interface with LauncherPro is superb.... I am fed up with the HTC Sense look, its like WinMo (and I am not going back there again! !!! )
If you are willing to pay for an app then vignette will not only give you full resolution but will give you a much more robust camera app with a ton of features and much better jpeg compression

Desire HD camera sensor.

Hello guys...
I have DHD rooted so I was searching some files with root explorer and I found this:
In sys/android_camera there is a file with name sensor.
So I opened this file with Root Explorer (View as text) and inside I saw the model of camera sensor that DHD uses and it's the OmniVision ov8810 8M...
After a little search in the web I found the official description of this sensor and you can find it here http://www.ovt.com/products/sensor.php?id=61#specifications.
From the Product Specifications you can see that the sensor can take video at 1080p.
So I assumed that we have the hardware but we miss the software...
Am I right???
Interesting. It can even take 720p in 60FPS, which would be veeery nice.
Ohh, interesting...
This does not surprise me. HTC is well-known for hampering their cameras. Maybe in an OTA later on or some crafty XDAer will check this out. I suggest PM'ing the ones who got 720p on the various other phones so they can check this out.
By the way, if my thoughts are correct and my eyes don't fool me, it says "10 @ Full"... even though I'm thinking this is full 8mp @ 10fps recording, this just does not seem real. No way in hell.
1080p? Honestly? I mean, it barely manages to capture [email protected]*, let alone [email protected], not to mention 1080p. I know DHD is one of the most powerful phone today, but I seriously doubt it has enough grunt to record at anything over 720p. Of course, I would be very glad if I could be proven wrong, but I'm affraid it won't happen .
Most of all, I would like to see it record video in [email protected] properly, especially in low(ish) light conditions.
On the brighter side, the image sensor does seem to be able to record in [email protected], [email protected] or indeed 10fps in full res, but I imagine it would require pretty fast memory card.
*Or it could be just stock SD card write speed limitation, but I doubt it.
gsmarena.com has been bashing the DHD's camera, in their latest review of the SE arc they even say that DHD is worthy of a true 8 megapixel camera comparison
i'm not on the latest rom so i can't tell if they've really made any improvements on the camera quality and i haven't been taking enough pictures to judge but i think there's no point in having 1080*60fps if the quality of the videos is ****

DHD can't match the quality of my 7mp camera. Lenses make all the difference, megapixels alone are pretty useless.

I use a custom ROM that is based in 1.72 and I have a class10 MicroSD and the video on 720p is very good with no lags...
So the thing I mentioned in first post is that the hardware seems to be capable to shoot in 30 @ 1080p.
No if the phone with all other parts is capable is another thing that some developers could answer...

Bang on!
But as a phone I fell DHDs camera is good enough, well for me anyway.
I would certainly like to see how the phone would handle 1080p recording lol, just for fun.
The CPU does not support video encoding above 720p 30fps.

Only the dual cores that comeing up to future phones support encoding above 720p??
Frankly, DHD can't match my Nokia N95 from 2007, let alone my Sony 4mpix camera from 2006.

[Discuss] Software Mod for Camera

I know this seems like a question - but i just read on Engadget that NODO-GT was able to modify the camera to shoot 20mb and 0 compression.
I know the Galaxy SII has an 8 mp. But is it modifiable to reduce compression as well?

intresting
Hmmmmm. could be.
there's many hidden features in stock framework are not implemented.
video recording pause for example.
HTC stock camera contains a lot of conpression due to HTC Sense camera enhancement mode. Thats why disabling it to total zero would give out the best RAW image out of it so you can alter the pic yourself without the dirty software auto correction
Im not sure bout SGS2, seems like not many devs are interested in the camera part for SGS2. They keen towards audio more but not much progress has been made throughout the year

True - thought I think be devs - you mean Supercurio. I'm not really aware of anyone else.
I saw one Dev that did camera but for video recording (and sound). It would really be great to be able to fine-tune the camera for better quality and performance!

Reward - camera drivers on cm12/aosp

I think that we could make a reward for the developers that can make the cm12 camera as good as stock or next to it.
Because the only problem with the cm12 and aosp projects are the bad camera quality. The 720 /120fps videos and the great photos are the best thing on the stock.. But the rest are a bunch of carp.
I could put 50usd on it.
I'm in to donate to that too!
I am in as well, the problem is apparently there are no developers interested on it whatsoever...
hhhmmmmm just give this awesome person the time he needs
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/devs-only/camera-hal-caf-t2981136
I will donate as well if someone can port it to AOSP
I'm in for $20.
I wouldn't say developers aren't interested, everyone would love to see the stock camera! But it's really really hard to do that, I looked into it once and LG coded the Camera in C, not in Java. This means the .apk is very small and the biggest part of the application is stored in .so files. Decompiling those takes a whole lot of skill. It MAY be possible, but to be honest I don't think it will happen. I myself by far do not have the skill to do that. It's easier to implement the new Camera HAL v3, like manups4e does.
I think people wants the stock feeling like great pics and a variety of modes on video cam like 120fps 60fps and 4k I don't like the lg stock app I think has a lack of features that could be used by the power of the g3.
I use the xcam app and it's what's keeping me on stock right now.
