How to run Sky Go on rooted S3 - Galaxy S III General

This is not my patch it was member UpInTheAir
but download:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/19780267/SU-BusyBox-CWM_Manager-Uninstaller.zip
Flash the zip then delete the superuser apk..
Sky Go then works. To get root back just install superuser and busy box, root access back.
Only takes 2 minutes.
If this helps you please click thanks, going to watch Germany GP now

2mins you need practice 45secs, works great and recover root, also works. Well done briandevlin.
Going to watch F1 as well, red bull or who do you think will win? :thumbup:

uninstalled superuser, rom manager, and root explorer.
booted into cwm using the volume key, menu button, and power button.
it appeared to flash/install properly, with no errors as well.
Did you use a different method to flash as it says removing cwm, and i'm guessing it can't remove it if it's in use.

I flashed the zip on reboot un installed su, sorry I just tried again to see your problem, no the problem was me, and just install su from market and busy box to get back root. Sorry when I'm home I'll change the instructions.
Edit: no need to remove any apps.

have the latest version. uninstalled it, ran the script and reinstalled just to make sure.
Could it be because I've updated via Odin?
I still get the not supported on rooted android device. everything else that uses root tells me my device isn't rooted!

There must still be something that it detects, not sure what. If your bbox and superuser are deleted there is no root access so I don't know what it's picking up
Edit: Nothing to do with Odin.

Hi Brian,
Good to see you're finding an alternative good use for the script. :good:
Just a quick explanation;
The script will only remove those files that are saved in system/ app & system/ xbin folders because of the original need to be able to remove evidence of those files whilst returning to stock (for warranty) via nandroid backup (where firmware wasn't yet avaiable). I could have written the script to remove files from data/ app, but they could be removed via traditional method or factory reset.
All (I know of) custom ROMs will have installed superuser to system, but if you download from the market, obviously the script won't remove it, as it's now installed to data rather than system folder
Code:
set_progress(1.000000);
ui_print("Removing SU, BusyBox & CWM Manager...");
mount("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p9", "/system");
delete("system/app/CWMManager.apk");
delete("system/app/CWMManager-SGS3-v3.50.apk");
delete("system/app/CWMManager-SGS3-v3.55.apk");
delete("system/app/CWMManager-SGS3-v3.60.apk");
delete("system/app/Superuser.apk");
delete("system/xbin/su");
delete("system/xbin/busybox");
unmount("/system");
ui_print(" ");
ui_print("Done!");
ui_print(" ");
Cheers
Edit: I would have saved it to my thread as an attachment (easier for members to find), but XDA was having trouble uploading it to the post, hence the dropbox

Hi Guys,
Not working for me. I originally installed Omega ROM using Samsung GS3 Toolkit. I then installed SuperUser from the market. Switched my super user app from SuperSU to SuperUser using the settings within SuperSU. Uninstalled SuperUser. Flashed the zip in CWM. Root checked says I dont have propper route access. My apps which require root do not get the root access they require but when I attempt to watch content on Sky Go, I get the following message: 'Sky Go is not supported on rooted Android devices.'
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Dan

Found the problem, it was the method of root I was using. I was previously rooted via the SGS toolkit method and files in the root folder. did a complete reset/flash etc and re-rooted via cf root.
but after all that I haven't got any apps on my phone that require rooting :S

Can't download this from Dropbox, Dropbox link reports 'too much trafiic'. Could somebody post somewhere else or provide to me please?

Thanks will try this, will this allow you to install rom manager and be able to boot into clockwork recovery mode for nandroid backups,etc?
I would use this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=770388
If you try a custom rom that calls for ext4 then, and only then go to this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897612
both are perfect full root one click solutions with CWM, SU, and busy body installed by default

ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.0

I haven't seen anything about the updated ClockworkMod Recovery here on XDA, and I'm not sure if many others know about it. =P
Update: ClockworkMod Recovery for the Droid X has been updated to 5.0.2.0. A new blue recovery!
WARNING: This can be used on both 2nd init and blur roms; however, on blur roms you must first use Droid 2 Bootstrapper to bootstrap.
EDIT: Make sure that you're ROM Manager is up-to-date. A new version was just released that fixes bugs with flashing the new recovery.
Open ROM Manager and select 'Flash ClockworkMod Recovery'.
When it asks you to confirm your device select 'Droid X (2nd init)' or 'Droid X', respective to your current rom.
It should then download and install ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.0.
Reboot hy holding the power button and selecting Reboot > recovery, or rebooting to recovery from ROM Manager. Enjoy your new blue recovery ^_^
EDIT: In MIUI on the Defy base you must use `CWM Recovery' from the reboot menu to access ClockworkMod Recovery.

Thank you Captain Obvious j/k
I get kind of tired of hearing my wife say "what are you doing to your phone now?" if I reinstall a ROM too much in one week LOL
Yea still no luck
Did the following (based on a suggestion in the Rootzwiki forum):
- Fully removed RM & the Premium license files
- rebooted
- reinstalled RM & Premium license
- Cleared Download cache in RM
- re-installed CWM 2.5.0.8 (chose Droid X)
- Cleared Download Cache
- updated CWM to 4.0.0.5 (choosing DX 2nd-init)
- reboot
- no luck
Gonna try removing RM again & going straight to CWM 4.0.0.5 to see if that works.

I got mine working now An update came out (v4.3.2.3) which mentioned a fix for this exact problem & it updated properly for me too. I did notice that cache partition wiping is not as fast as v2.5.0.8 but who cares...IT'S ORANGE!
I know right, that is some sexy orange. One thing though is I've heard that you can only use backups made with 4.0.0.5, haven't actually run into myself since I cull my backups every once and a while to free up SD card space, and that some update zips won't work anymore because the new clockwork requires another file inside of it, my memory is failing me on what that file exactly is.
How is the 2nd inti different from Koushs recovery? I heard it had something specifically to do with CM7. But why cant they use the normal CWM. Wasn't obsidian able to use the regular CWM it was almost pure AOSP besides the kernel. So why the change? Just curious why it is needed.

3. Copy the file to your Iconia
4. Install the APK & start the tool
5. Click "root"

Changelog
1.3.0:
- Also remove any "su" folder from /system/bin and /system/xbin .

I'm actually curious about this as well. Mostly, what I would like to know, is if it is still possible to flash CWR via Odin, as listed in this thread, and apply the root exploit zip that the developers created.

Yep, I flashed CWR using that method immediately after accepting the OTA. I haven't reflashed that root exploit but I've flashed other zips and it works. Unless those binaries are no longer working in this version (which I'm sure is not the case), it'll work fine.

No , you can mod build.prop and you can install the apk but you won't get it to work. It is even present in the framework but again, no it won't work.
That needs to be done in the building process of the rom. One more reason to go custom
Ask MD , it is even a pain to get it working on custom rom. It all got to do with signing the correct apk's before you build the rom.
So don't waist your time or mess up your system it is not going to happen.

Hi everyone!! Im new to this forum so bare with with me. I recently bought an acer iconia A500 4.0.3 ics (leak). I rooted it with blackthunde, but then I dident like the root sooo I found a utube video that said " unroot all android devices universal", i did what they said, which was" to remove the su files and the remove superuser and then boot" however; superuser did not remove from my devic. I used the root checker to c if it worked and i guess it did because now it saids "not rooted" sooo my question is: how do i get my tablet back to the state when I first bought it? or can i remove the superuser manually? but instead of it saying uninstall it saids "remove all updates". i dont know what to do, please can someone explain how to get it to brandnew and leave no trace of root..... thank you...
First this should be a question by itself.
But I will try and help you out bud.
To get to stock you must find a ROM that is stock then flash it.
If you want absolute stock that is beyond me as I've never looked into it in ics
What ROM are you on now? if you are just rooted just factory data reset and you should be happy where it is at.
If you are trying to sell it let me know!. as any another reason to go to stock I don't know why you would..
I don't understand your post really..

Well, probably because superuser apk was placed in the /system/app folder and you don't have /system rw permissions anymore.. Can't remove it unless you're rooted with /system RW access.
If you want it really back to stock condition, grab one of the update ICS files from the Dev section, decrypt it, pull the update.zip from it. Copy the update.zip to your ext SD, and boot holding Vol+ and PWR. Should install the update.
Note there are 2 update ICS files, so of one doesn't work, try the other. This will put a stock ICS back on your tab.
If it goes well that is
