When I look in Google play it say this apps are installed, but there is no open button. And this apps doesn't appear in apps drawer.

Google Books and Movies were in the dock for me, where you find the button to go into the app drawer. I think you can also reach Movies via the Play Store by going to Movies and pressing the little button next to the search button on the top bar. Same for Books.
Through Google play, Google books have no open button:

I should have been clearer, please see the following images:
Open the Play Store and select "Books" (or Movies)
Then select the little book icon on the top bar (or the Movie icon)
That should open the Book or Movies app. If it doesn't it seems like something might be wrong on your end. I'd suggest a factory reset if you still can't access either Books or Movies. You can do a factory reset by going to Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset. You will LOSE all apps and downloaded data that you have installed on your tablet while it resets itself to factory standards.
When clicking this icon I transfered to Google Books page in Google Play, and still no open button (like in the image that I posted).
I already made 5 time factory resets.

The only thing I can suggest is rooting your device and using an app such as Titanium Backup to uninstall Books and Movies and re-install from the Google Play Store. That might fix your problem, but I can't guarantee it.
Used titanium backup to uninstall Google Books, Then installed, now I have uninstall button but still no open button.

I have the same problem with you. The reason for this problem is I use the nexus 7 outside of the USA. I have US credit card and address, turn off location setting, and turn o VPN, still can not get the books and movies app. I already did the factory reset too but still no success.
I'm having a somewhat similar issue. I have the apps installed and I can open them fine, but the movies and books categories do not appear in the play store. Has anyone happened to find a solution to that problem?
For reference, when I open the books or movies app and click on the play store button it opens up the play store which then redirects to the play store in my browser. It's almost as if my play store app does not have the books or movies sections installed.
EDIT: After talking with my friend who also has a N7, I've found that something is wrong with mine and plan to install the stock image. Seems I can't download and install some apps that he has no issue with.
i found that with my N7 rooted i was having problems with the play store so for now i have it back to stock and it works fine.
Hi,
I had the same problem with my N7. I bought it from Google and had it shipped outside the USA. I remember that when I got it I had all these apps and then I did a factory reset and BAM! they where gone. So I had to do some tricks and tests until I finally got them.
First enabled the option to install apps from Unknown Sources at System > Security. Then turned off the GPS (just in case), rebooted, then cleared the data and force stop these apps: Launcher, Google Play, Google Services Framework, Google Play Services. Then went to Astro File Manager navigated to /system/app and found the APKs for Movies, Books and Magazines. Long Tap on them to get the menu options to install them.
I installed them and rebooted.
After a few tries of the same process the apps finally showed up. I was almost giving up an trying a factory rest when they showed up.
BTW: I had a wireless conected to a USA VPN at all times. You might want to disable all wireless connections.
Hope that helps, please let me know how it goes.
Thanks.
I don't have mine yet, but I think I read in another thread that these apps were frozen in Titanium Backup. The user unfroze them and was able to use. Might be worth a shot.
I used this guide and now i have all Google apps:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792592
Movies and books missing from playstore.
The problem I'm having is that books & movies are missing from playstore, I can access them through Play Books and Play Movies but if I go through Playstore the option to go to them is not there. I rooted my N7 and before that they were there and now just gone. Even when I do a search for a movie or book it returns with nothing but apps or music options. I was just wondering if google blocks the content of books & movies for rooted users. I included a screenshot so you can see what I'm talking about. I also deleted data and cache from playstore as also uninstall update to get movies and books to return but no go.
I use Nexus 7 in Taiwan, too. The first day I got it, I'm able to use all Google Play apps, and even Wallet, and after one night sleep, apps are disappreared, and Wallet shows not available in your country. I managed to install Books, Magazines, Movies back by re-installing it from /system/app, but it will disappear again on reboot.
I did some research and people who bought their nexus 7 outside the US do not have access to movies & books in playstore, that is how mine is acting. I don't even access to movies or books and I bought mine at Staples in Baltimore where I live. I have no clue why these items are blocked.

UPDATE
I figured out what caused my Playstore to mess up and how to restore it. Did some more research and found out when you put the Nexus 7 into tablet mode by changing the LCD Density it can mess up the playstore. How it blocks you from accessing books and movies, I have no clue but this is how I fixed it.
1. You have to restore the LCD Density by edititing the buildprop located in the system folder. Change it back to default which is 213dpi by editing this line in the builprop (ro.sf.lcd_density)or simply delete the buildprop and restore the back up which I did. You can edit buildprop with any file explorer I used Root Explorer. Save your changes and exit out of your file explorer.
2. Reboot
3.You need to replace the skyphone.apk located in the system/app folder I found the apk here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297322 after you have downloaded the apk go to data/app and locate com.android.vending-1.apk (that's how it was listed in my folder) and rename it, I just put a 1 at the end.
4.Next go into system/app and delete the skyphone.apk and replace it with the one you have downloaded, make sure you change permissions in your downloaded skyphone.apk (look at screenshot if unsure) Exit out of your file explorer.
5.Reboot... your playstore should be returned to normal, it is an older version but don't worry it will automatically update, mine did within 20 minutes. I also noticed that when playstore updated it changed the name of the apk from skyphone back to vending.
I hope this helps anyone who had the same problem I had.

Hello all,
When I first booted my tablet I really couldn't wait to see how my games looked on it, but it wasn't long before I discovered that applicationdata wasn't shared between devices logged in with the same google account. That's where DataSync comes in. DataSync lets you share applicationdata and files/folders on your phone with other Android devices like your tablet, so that both devices have the same settings and games on both have the same levels unlocked. Syncing to and from Dropbox or Box is supported as well in case there's no WiFi network available. DataSync+ also supports automatically syncing/backing up applications either on the SDcard or cloud, Bluetooth synchronization and local backups of apps and their data, scheduled and real-time as you open and close your apps.
DataSync features:
- Parallel file/appsync
- Holo-themed and tablet-optimized UI
- Automatic multicast device-discovery
- Optional Dropbox and Box sync
- Quick Sync shortcut to sync data in two clicks
DataSync Beta features:
- Completely rebuild from scratch, it's faster, more efficient and more intuitive
- Brand new UI, holo themed for all devices
- Background syncing support, with Jelly Bean notifications on 4.1+ devices
- Safe app syncing (choose to up/download per app, free feature)
- FTP support
DataSync+ adds:
- Schedule automated syncs of your apps
- Real-time syncing as you open/close your apps (Beta)
- True two-way syncing
- Syncing via Bluetooth
- Syncing via NFC (Beta)
- Create and restore local backups

Hey all,
I just wanted to let you all know that I've updated my application so that you can now also send and receive files or folders stored on your SD-card. You don't need SU rights for that, so pretty much anyone will be able to use it .

hi there, just discovered your app and it seems to be just what I've been looking for
But i have some questions:
1. is there a way for automaticly run the queque, for example with tasker (with an action-intend or something similar)?
2. how can a quoque be saved as default without using a shortcut?
3. are there any problems if i sync game data from my phone to my tablet? in the market a comment mentionet a fc problem after syncing to xoom (which is also my tablet).
Hi,
I already replied per e-mail, but i figured a reply here would be useful to others as well.
1. At the moment there's no way to schedule a queue for up/download. I am however working on both scheduling via DataSync and other apps (like tasker).
2. Yes, just save a queue without ticking the "create shortcut" box .
3. There's an issue with the app's libraries dissapearing. It's similar to what sometimes happens with TitaniumBackup. I'm working on a fix that backup's the app's libraries and copies them back to where they belong after the sync, so that should resolve the FC issues.
A logcat is very useful, so just e-mail me one if you have an app crashing after syncing .
Quint
Great software!
I have two questions:
1. How can I restore a backup tar file (I have sent you an email about this already, sorry)?
2. How can I load a saved queue after I have closed DataSync?
Thanks in advance!
Dude I love datasync exactly what I need fast and easy just Make sure your port 4444 is open
You shouldn't need to open the port, since it's all done locally over your own network, if for some reason DataSync can't connect, change the ports in the settings .
You can restore a backup by long-pressing an app's entry, if nothing pops up there's no backup to be restored. You can load a saved queue by tapping the queue's entry at the top of the applist . (Already replied by e-mail, but as usual I'll post the answers here as well)
Can you please make it work with Temple Run and Death Rally?
Thanks!
What about files that already exist? Are they completely copied again?
Because I would like to keep the Camera folders on both my phone and tablet in sync, kinda like Apple's iPhoto
Hi there,
At the moment it will simply overwrite existing files. I originally wrote the file sharing feature for appdata sharing only, there overwriting the files makes sense. I'm planning to release another update soon so you'll be able to choose whether to overwrite or not .
As for Temple Run (and probably Death Rally as well), it stores it's data on the SD-card at /android/data/TEMPLE_RUN_PACKAGE. For now you'll have to manually sync that data. I'm working on including data stored on the SD-card as well .
Thanks....currently yours is the only one that can sync between tablet and phone on wifi without going through an intermediary like Dropbox, so being able to keep media in sync without having to do the entire cycle again is a boon.
I'm guessing it's a per folder setting? And will we be able to sync different folder structure according to device, instead of the current method of forcing the same folder structure? Because on my S2 it's sdcard/external_sd, while on Tab 7.7 it's sdcard/ExtStorages/sdcard - irritating.
For now it's a global setting, I'm pretty busy working on other features (including scheduling), so it's pretty low priority at the moment. I added the per-folder thing to my to-do list though! The next update will also work with multiple storage locations, providing they're mounted at /mnt on your device
Great, thanks for the replies. Will wait patiently for the updates.
Just bought Datasync+ to support ya, but did not see the overwrite or not option in changelog. I assumed it's not in this update yet?
Edit : nvm, saw it in settings! Much thanks! Good job!

Looking forward to more stuff - no pressure.
And an easily accessible overwrite or not toggle would be nice, without having to dig in settings every time I switch between syncing media and syncing saved data.
Yeah, it was a pretty quick fix, just so you can stop overwriting in the first place. I'm going to make that more user-friendly soon. I'm now working on having a dedicated SMS/MMS/WifiAP/etc backup entry .
Aside from the little Dropbox issue last night the release of DataSync+ went pretty smooth. There seems to be a nice demand so far ^.^
Is there any way to see what's on the queue without actually doing a sync?
EDIT: Ah, swipe up will show it! I guess I didn't pick up on the visual cue of the triangle at the bottom. But one thing I notice is if I start the sync then swipe down to hide the queue then swipe up again to show the queue, there's nothing there. Have I cleared the queue or is it just a display thing?
It automatically clears the queue after synchronization so you don't have to remove the synced apps from the queue after syncing. You can turn it off in the settings menu
Hey guys,
I am about to buy a KF here today on my lunch break. I had a few questions though. I see all the steps and downloaded all the tools needed to Root, one thing I wondered though is if you do root and install a custom rom (Which ones the best one to get?) can you still utilize the Amazon Prime and other amazon features that you get when you purchase it?
Which Rom would be the best choice? Something light weight but customizable of course. With full Android market.
Also, I have an evo 3d, and of course it uses my google account to know which apps I bought and such, will all that + my google wallet work for the Kindle also?
Thanks all!
Do It
Buy it, use your free month of amazon prime for about 4 days until you realize that its streaming is more useless than netflix and that the bookshelf launcher thing is more annoying than using Microsoft BOB on a 386DX. Even the amazon reader PDF viewer is total garbage
1. Copy CM7 and Gapps to the kindle in disk mode
2. Root using the Kindle Fire Utility (the only problems you may face are getting the right drivers on your PC), this will burritoroot it, install the firefirefire bootloader and install the TWRP touchscreen recovery
3. When you get to the bootloader, backup first, then flash CM7+Gapps. Login with your account that is tied to your Evo3D. Multiple device win.
4. Without hardware buttons, CM7 has tablet tweaks under CMsettings. Check the box for home button as it isn't there by default. If you are right handed, change from the default to right-side, this will now put the home button in the middle in portrait mode.
5. Set up google voice so you can send/recieve text messages on your awesome tablet (it is way more than a kindle now). GrooveIP for calls if you use a headset with mic built in. Gmail app for push gmail.
6. Install the amazon kindle app for your books/syncing and then adobe pdf viewer
7. Install Google Currents and Pulse if you read the news a lot. Especially if you want to read the news anywhere you won't have a wifi connection, like on an airplane. They both prefetch.
8. Dolphin browser is so much more awesome than silk.
9. Enjoy your $200 nerdgasm in other ways you see fit...
In short, as far as I know there isn't any CURRENT way to use a custom ROM and use amazon's software aside from the SILK browser which is garbage compared to the opera equivalent (Opera Mini) which in turn is JUST as useless because you're using WiFi and not 3/4G... So save yourself the headache and get a full featured browser (I'm personally happiest with regular Opera, but there is of course Firefox, Dolphin, etc)
Just bought mine and rooted last night. I tried cm7 but didn't like how small the apps looked so i quickly flashed ics rom and it's pretty cool so far. The only thing is no sound and no video, but that's not a big deal for me. I noticed too it's not to responsive, didn't really play with it before i rooted, so not sure if it's rom related or just the way it is

If you use a launcher such s Go Launcher you would of been able to change your grid size. Thus making your icons bigger. I will share a screenshot in a bit.

Also pair it with a phone, use wifi tether and you have net anywhere. Also you can use GPS tether and use google maps for navigation

Well, I have a question regarding the software uses. Say I buy the Kindle Fire.. will I be able to borrow books from the Kindle store if I were on a custom ROM or do I have to be on their stock ROM in order to borrow any books and use that feature/advantage.
to borrow books you have to be on the stock rom - so far as i know - i don't borrow books - the same for premium vod
Or to play it safe, you can use the STOCK rom with a custom launcher like the GO Launcher (shown above by a member).
You can still customize it with a stock rom, which I do it, cuz CM7 is not all that great on Kindle Fire yet (at least from my experiences).
Kindle Fire is great. It's fast, responsive, but the amazon apps aren't all THAT great. Best of all, you can switch between your Kindle and custom launcher at any time instantly.
How do you set up Google voice so you can send/receive texts? I just use Google voice for getting my vmails I don't use it for anything else.

Dear all,
finally, I got them...
I was able to install play store on mine.
First, needs root. The only one I found that worked was Baidu Root here.
http://root.baidu.com/
Once it's rooted, I installed Super SU
http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu
After Super SU, install Root Browser
http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.root.browserfree
After Root Browser is installed, download CM9 Gapps to your pc.
http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
Unzip the zip file, and copy GoogleServicesFramework.apk and Phonesky.apk to the device.
edit: also copy GoogleLoginService.apk
Open Root Browser, and copy GoogleServicesFramework.apk and Phonesky.apk from wherever you copied it to /system/app. You cannot just install the play store APK's normally, they must be copied to /system/app. Change permissions to match other apps. Shut down device and restart. Play store should be in app drawer now. After running, it should auto update to latest play store version.
Overall, pretty good. Still some apps show as incompatible (such as chrome, sadly), but light years ahead of the BT100's play store compatibility. Plus I can always backup and side-load apps from my phone for any that show as incompatible on BT200. Quickpic works fine, diceplayer works fine. Great for some SMB movie streaming from my file server. Touchpad input is annoying as hell to use. If you stroke the very very edge of the touch-pad, it works as single line scroll. May be able to remap these later to back or home buttons, but then again if I use an external BT keyboard I'm afraid it might remap the cursor keys too. The visor lens is a little tricky to remove, you don't unscrew it, you pull it outward (if you were wearing the device, pull away from your eyes) by 2mm until it clicks then pull downward.
I don't know if you noticed, I don't see it in your pics, I have a clear visor lens included in the pocket here.
Also, the moverio camera quality absolutely blows.
alcuin,
first of all thenks for your suggests, I will add them in the main post. Yes... on my package I missed the clear visor lens you speak about. Could I have a picture of that accessory? I would contact Epson to get it back.
For the Software Development Kit, developers can work with the Wikitude SDK, a stand-alone (really priced sincerely, €2,499) package optimized for the BT-200.
It is possible to download a trial version of the Wikitude SDK (last update 3.2.2 - (24.02.2014)) after the registration from here: http://www.wikitude.com/download
It's a maintenance release as reported by the log: http://www.wikitude.com/developer/news/-/blogs/maintenance-update-wikitude-sdk-3-2-1
and I have some dubts if it is the same version of the commercial one as really outdated.

alcuin, don't worry. I should get my glass within that week as my dad sent it before to snap the pictures (I am working outside my hometown).
Here it is finally. I was wrong though, it's not a clear lens that's included; it's a darker lens, and one insert for using prescription lenses. If you want clear, just take off all the lenses.

Dear babyfish0226,
I did a review but it is en Italian language... now I rooted the glass and I have installed the Google Play and some apps just for testing. Sincerely I am not happy for that and I guess the Google Glass will outshine it quickly as the target is not the casual user than the professional. It isn't wearable for the "brick" you have to pick with you and the result of the projection is far from my old Sony HUD (HMZ-T2).
I have to play it more, I have to look into the core apps for more details but as Prelaunch product is really premature.

Dear Barend,
for the installation of extenal files, you have to enable the option for the untrusted sources. You are able to install APK without the root rights.

Has anyone tethered to an iPhone successfully?
I just unpacked my BT200 this weekend and ran through the forums and managed to get the google play store and root access.
I am trying to tether my BT200 to my iPhone 5's personal hotspot. When I try via bluetooth, it reboots. If I try it again, it will show connected and the "use this device for internet" will be checked -- but I don't seem to have any connectivity. I don't see any network stats and none of my apps see a network connection.
If I try to use the iPhone's wifi, it will detect it at excellent strength, but once I try to connect, it reports the strength and poor and cycled connecting, disconnecting, and connecting over and over again until I forget the network or use another wifi.
Otherwise, I am able to connect to wifi. And I have tested the iPhone hotspot (bluetooth and wifi) with another android device. So I know that it works.
Has anyone else been able to tether to an iPhone?

Hi Sev7en,
Thanks for your help again, but unfortunately it did not work.
The buildnr on the Moverio is R1.0.0 and when i tap ten times on it, no Usb debugging appears.
Do You have any other suggestions?

Google Playstore
To get google play, I followed mostly the directions from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52652576&postcount=3
First: install the amazon app store and get winzip
http://www.amazon.com/mobile-apps/b?node=2350149011
You can install the amazon app store and get apps from there immediately without anything special. From there I installed winzip, which you will need later.
Second: root your phone.
Google for Baidu 2001 apk
(http://www13.zippyshare.com/v/62451397/file.html)
This program will unlock your ability to use root access on the phone. It is in Chinese, so just press the obvious blue button. If it turns green, you are good.
Third: Install and run SuperSU
Goodle supersu apk
(http://www.appsapk.com/supersu/)
This program allows programs to request root access (which you unlocked with Baidu) and to use it. So you will need this to access your system files.
Fourth: Install a Root File Browser
Google jrummy browserfree.apk
(http://storage.evozi.com/apk/dl/14/05/12/com.jrummy.root.browserfree.apk?vc=223)
This is a file browser that knows how to use SuperSU, so when you try to copy files into your /system/apps folder, it can get root permissions and do this.
Fifth: Download the google play package and unzip
Download: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
This is the proprietary google android stuff that Moverio didn't include. (see more details at http://wiki.rootzwiki.com/Google_Apps)
Use the winzip to unzip this file into your downloads folder.
Now use the JRummy Browser free to copy the following files from:
your_download/system/app/GoogleLoginService.apk
your_download/system/app/GoogleServicesFramework.apk
your_download/system/app/Phonesky.apk
to /system/app/
Sixth: reboot
When you go to the shop link, you should now see the google play store.
Thanks Lacodemonkey,
I will try it.
usb debug option on moverio bt-200
did you succeeded in unlocking usb debug option? I also tried multiple taps on the build number but nothing happened.
thanks,

I have no USB Debugging Mode, too. And I can't activate it with the tapping trick.
Is there another possiblity to activate the USB Debugging option?
PS: I already contacted Epson but i didn't receive any answer yet.
I'm sure many of you are aware of the battery drain issues with Google Play Services and Google Search. These two system apps cause constant wake-locks, robbing your device of the deep sleep it deserves. Up until now, the only solutions have limited some functionality, such as location services. I have discovered how to STOP the Google battery drain AND retain ALL functionality. Now I can easily make it through the day while making phone calls, streaming music, browsing the web, viewing social media, watching videos and more and end the day with 50% battery remaining. This is the heavy users dream: retain all functionality AND have maximum battery saving.
Here are the results:

I left the phone unplugged overnight with mobile data, wifi, bluetooth, and NFC all running. I'm using the stock LG rom. As you can see, the phone was in deep sleep 98% of the time over a nearly 8 hour period.
You should know, though, that if you do this, the "Google Now Everywhere" feature will no longer be available.
Here is my guide to eliminate the Google battery drain:
Pre-requirements:
-MUST BE ROOTED!!
-MAKE A BACKUP! Use nandroid if you can. Some people report problems re-installing Play Services, so it's best to have a backup. (However, there are steps in this guide to get Play Services re-installed if you did not make a backup.)
-Titanium Backup - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&hl=en (Make a backup of the system apps "Google Search" and "Google Play Services" before you do anything!)
-Greenify - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify&hl=en
-Wakelock Terminator - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.andro.wlt&hl=en (Xposed module, must be running Dalvik runtime (don't worry, this is usually enabled by default)
-requires Xposed Framework! http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer)
PERFORM AT YOUR OWN RISK!! Some people are reporting problems with not being able to re-install Play Services and have had to factory restore their device (be especially cautious if your bootloader is locked and you can not perform a nandroid backup.)
____________________________________________________________________________________________________
1. Use Titanium Backup to freeze Google Search and Google Play Services. This is done in the checkmark menu under the Freeze / Defrost section.
2. Use Titanium Backup to convert Google Play Services to a user app. This automatically defrosts it too.
3. Repeat this freeze/ convert to system app process for Google Search. It is important to do Search after Play Services to ensure that Search does not start calling Services and messing something up.
4. (You may need to reboot at this point.) Open Wakelock Terminator and search for Google Play Services. Click on it and check "Prevent wake lock". In the "Filter wake lock" field type in "NlpCollectorWakeLock" and "com.google.android.gms"
5. (Optional, but ultimate battery life will be achieved with this step.) Open greenify and enable greenify on both Google Search and Google Play services.
6. In Greenify, go to the "Experimental Features." Check "Keep Notifications" and "GCM push for greenified apps". This ensures that you will still receive push notifications that use Play Services.
7. After they are greenified, enable "always ignore its running state" on Google Play Services within Greenify itself. In order to do this, you need to get Play Services to run in the background. (opening Maps or Google Search should do this.) Now you can highlight Google Play Services in Greenify and select "state always ignored for hibernation". (You may have to enable "reconsider state" for this option to show.)
____________________________________________________________________________________________________
Now test your device! Allow it to sit overnight and look at BetterBatteryStats in the morning to see how long your deep sleep was, check partial wake-locks, and check alarms.
Now enjoy your highly improved battery life and be the envy of all your friends!
This fix required a lot of tinkering and trial and error on my part. I do believe this is the best fix so far for Google background processes that retains all functionality. Please hit the thanks button if this worked for you!
IMPORTANT NOTE: It should be taken into consideration that if you ever want to do a factory reset, you need to convert these apps back to system apps. If you do not, your device will enter an eternal force close loop once reset, and the only way to fix it then is to flash the firmware back.
*IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS RE-INSTALLING GOOGLE PLAY SERVICES*
-Some people are reporting problems wit h the re-installation. I will include some links to download pages in case you have problems.
-User specified link (6.1.0.9) http://d-h.st/s10
(5.0.8.9) https://www.sendspace.com/file/dk4ade

-XDA download links http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...densities-and-the-rest-of-this-weeks-updates/ (Some download links reported as spam..?)
Special thanks to XDA members jstntp and GroovyGeek for helping to simplify the process and increase success rates.
That deserved a thank you, whether it worked or not. I'm not rooted for the moment, I'm running a little rooted vs non-rooted experiment of my own but thanks for the hard work.:good:
I appreciate your testing and sharing of knowledge, but I easily get 2 days of battery life with Wifi only off at night, so I do not see the need for this. I am on the i-ROM Version on D855 since three weeks. But it will surely assist people on early ROM-variants I guess.
I remember a long time back googling about nlp wakelocks and found a guide from the s3 forums
on my Note 2 i uninstalled google search and play services and then after rebooting when i wanted to download them from google play, it didnt open anymore
i installed an aosp 442 google apps package then and everything started working again AND true enough even then the wakelocks were considerably controlled and battery improved.
my g3 is not my primary phone yet so havent tried it yet, it doesnt have a recovery yet either, and no complaints about battery with the kind of usage i put it to
just sharing an earlier experience

The main point is that during the day, when you have wifi, mobile data, bluetooth, nfc, etc. all running and are using the phone extensively, you get great battery life. Google runs a ton in the background and this eliminates it. It gives your phone about 50-60% more deep sleep time.

This solution should theoretically work for all android devices and is probably best suited for people who do not want to deal with custom ROMs but still want to have great battery life. I didn't realize we could flash ROMs on the G3 yet. Thanks for sharing

With this method, it doesn't just considerably control the wakelocks, it practically eliminates them. This is simply a way to get the absolute best battery life realistically possible with a stock ROM and will theoretically work with all android devices having problems with nlp wakelocks.

Everytime i uninstall google play services everything stops working. Cant even open google search
Hi.. Thanks for this guide.
I've stumbled upon one thing in step 7. I cant find the setting state always ignored for hibernation.
Perhaps this is what he is referring to. Select Google play services in greenify and then go into settings and check "disable auto-hibernation".
Thanks for this technique, it worths to mention in OP that nandroid backup is recommended, just to avoid having problems after uninstalling Google Play Services for some users. They can restore backup in case something wrong happens.
App ops also help disabling keep awake for Google play services. Thanks for the guide
Dam i didnt think about app ops and now the play store crashes constantly and i will prob factory reset.. Thx anyways

Ok, but to do a "nandroid" backup as you say, you must have an unlocked bootloader and do a backup from CWM or TWRP, right ? Or is that doable with Titanium ??

I missed that part, correct, you need unlocked boot loader to use CWM or twrp, or fastbooot.

Use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.h3r3t1c.onnandbup
It makes nandroids very mouch without unlocked BL.
But to restore It maight be good with custom recovery. But to have cwm or twrp you dont need unlocked bootloader anyway.
Here is my list of apps that I have frozen. I'm on sprint so, all Verizon junk has been frozen. If you are on any other network, be cautious to remove apps related to that network. Also, if you use any of the Google apps, such as documents, you obviously do not want to freeze them. Same goes for other apps.
So fat everything has been working great.

Not really sure if I would consider Google Device Policy bloat

I mean, isn't android system webview required just to surf the net?
---------- Post added at 07:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:51 PM ----------
What do you actually use on your phone?
If you would have listed what you enabled, I think the list would have been shorter.
Just out of curiosity, you write above that you disabled all Verizon junk, but going through the list, it makes me think whether you even use the N6 in daily life.
Some apps are really necessary, but you should definitely not disable "Android Web View" because this is regular updated to maintain compatibility (not sure whether also bugs are fixed with it)
Well to be fair. It is a pretty good list. I freeze many of the same programs he has because I will never use them. I'm not going to ever Cloud Print or the Google launcher or use Chrome or Gmail because I have my own programs for that I don't need them ever to run. Ever.
My issue was freezing things that may affect your security.
Sent from my Nexus 6
Hahaha. You guys are funny. I use my phone everyday. I spent a bunch of time texting, emailing, making phone calls, browsing the web, watching videos, Skype/Viber, Pandora via Bluetooth. Sure I don't play games and don't use much of what Google preinstalled, but that that doesn't mean the phone is useless. All I can say is that my battery life is simply amazing.
That's a lot..
Android System WebView is the wrapper that apps use to load webpages in the app. I would not disable that...
EDIT: Second thought, this whole list blows.
what a joke of a list. i've only removed the Verizon/Sprint crap and a few of the languages i'll never use.
i'm getting ~2 days of use while still using it normally. i get disabling/freezing/uninstalling gmail when you use another app, but killing half the services that make it actually useful is ridiculous.
So what's the point of buying a Google phone if you're gonna disable Google?

Have a phone that is easy to unlock and root? I don't watch movies on my phone at least not from google, I use google mail but not a fan of their app, I do not like the newsstand, etc etc etc. Why would I want these services/ or apps ever to run if I am never going to use them
I use the play store ,
I think he went a bit overboard on the list but it is nice to know IF you want to turn these off you "can" :good:
Does anyone know if there's a way I can transfer some of these Google system apps to user apps and delete them? Not the important ones as much as apps like Fit and stuff like that.

No need to move them.
You could delete them with Root Explorer
But I would suggest you back them up and delete them with Titanium Backup

I think it is a good Idea to disable apps and services when they are not used.
But of course everybody has his own idea.
I am using Gmail and Keep and the Daydreams and instead of Photo's I installed the good old KitkatGallery.apk.
For me your list is an example. But the list rather long because of the use of screenshots.
For everybody who wants to disable not used software I made your list with text only.

so I removed VZW Backup app with TitaniumBackup and now I am getting "buacontactadapter has stopped working" whenever I uninstall an app...
i assume because it was tied to Google's app backup process?
can i fix this or can someone upload their apk for me so i can reinstall?
edit: i rebooted and tested, notification went away. oh well
Yes you typically backup something before you delete it unless you're 100% sure, otherwise you have no emergency button [emoji722]

it seems it was just a glitch where google was pinging the backup file and when it didnt match the VZW app, it resulted in an error.
a reboot got rid of the issue. i should have know and understood this. there is no way a vzw backup on an att phone would cause google software issues.
this thread is comical. op should look up the definition of bloat. disabling android core system apps does not constitute removing "bloat". thought this would be informative, instead it was entertaining
