[Q] Lenovo ICS build.prop, missing? - Thinkpad Tablet General

Just as the topic says. Where is it? I ask so that I may edit the lcd density, play gameloft games, as well as gain most (If not full) market access.
Does anyone have any idea??? ?
Note: I do have root access, preserved via voodoo rootkeeper.

lies, it's not there. which is why i am asking o_o
i miss it... it was my best friend :crying:

Yes, build.prop is in /system/.
If you can't find it, either you're not rooted; are not using an explorer that can browse /system/; have hidden files hidden; or the restraining device behind your primary navigation wheel is not attached with sufficient torque.

My backup root installs and works fine but i just can't find how to remove the bloatware with it.
I do have root access so what can i use to get rid of what's app, postcard etc ??

Did you also download the free version? Pro download is only the registration key! You need to install both.

No because in order to do a full backup you need R/W Access to the /system and /Data folders
See above you don't have to have root to read only to write.
most of the apps you will back up won't need write access check it out on the market or try it yourself

AFAIK You need root to read from /system and /data/data/ but maybe im wrong. i know for a fact that you need root to even read /system. go check with a file explorer that dosent need root
your right with what your say but for backup you won't need access you don't need to back up system apps anyway.

How to install Titanium backup pro on xperia play
1. Download and install Busyox after rooting
2. Download and install titanium backup
3. Download Pro Version key and install
4. Enable usb debugging (may not be neccessary works on my play without)
5. load program and enjoy

Its here!!!!

Got my atrix today. Still tryna get used to a 4 inch screen. Havent rooted yet (usually root my devices the second they get there first charge) but seems as if everything is beta rite now. Question though, would the updated motoblur launcher work without root? Like sidload the apk?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
use gingerbreak to root and the launcher probably wont work, havnt seen anyone mention it anyway
No you cant sideload apps out of the box. You first need to root with gingerbreak method and then use the gladenable script to enable sideloading.

I was thinking of using the side loading wonder machine. And to root, dont I have to rsd sbf 1.8.3 first? Anyways, thanks for the answers

Congrats! Ateix is a great device. Easiest way to install Nonmarket apps is to go to Android store n purchase "Non Market apps Enabler" created by fellow member here. Only costs 1 dollar somethn. Enables the checkbox n options to enable non market app installs. Works instantly. No side loading n all that needed. Saves a ton of Time n hassle. I got it n was installing non market apps instantly with it!
If its a UK spec one, you can side load without doing anything... Otherwise rooting will be required

Question to app devs...

Programs such as sky go and pingit look for root on a device.
Where exactly do they look , as a test I fully unrooted my cm9 , and changed my ro_secure to 1..
The programs still however detect root.. Where else would they be looking?
This could be useful info as an app could be made to possibly change all that is needed to fully hide root

An app will attempt to do R/W on its own files or system files so its not one single file. The app will report an error if it cant modify what it needs to. In your case, sounds like unroot isnt working properly.
Yea but when I try another app like titanium it will say it didn't have root

There's and option in settings - development to disable root. Works in cm9 and etc..

Possible to delete some stock apps?

For anyone who has a Nexus 7 - can anyone confirm if we will be able to delete stuff like the Magazines app or any of the stock applications, either through rooting or otherwise?
On stock ROM, you can only disable the stock apps. With root, I'm sure you can install Titanium Backup and delete them.

[Q] Can I delete busybox free, quick boot and supersu after rooting?

As per title, Can I delete busybox free, quick boot and supersu after rooting?
I have used the video title on youtube: How to Root the Google Nexus 4 - Latest, to root my device, was just wondering if I were able to delete those files after rooting or are they required? (I'll be installing ParanoidAndroid soon).
Thanks.
No they aren't required but what's the purpose of rooting if your gonna delete the app that's essential to being rooted?

Alright thanks.
I was just asking since I can save some space. I don't understand why I would require them still, since I've made a custom backup etc;
