I had no issue getting the driver installed for Windows7, but I cannot my XP machine to install a driver that recognizes the Nexus 7. I even tried the Naked 0.7 driver with no luck. I haven't seen much info out there when searching for this here at XDA, anyone have any luck this week with getting an XP driver to work?

I have the same problem. Check your WinXP Window Media Player version. If it's 9 or older,
that may be the problem.
After I updated my Window Media Player 9 to version 11, I now see the N7 in "My Computer".
I was able to drag and drop file then.

A note for those searching this topic here on XDA -
I found this to be very helpful (slight addendum to the above helpful response) - http://www.alokagrawal.com/blog/archives/88
I had to point both the MTP device and the Nexus 7 device (from Device Manager) to the drivers.
Also, you must NOT be in USB debugging when you plug in the N7 or the device will not register. Hope this helps others.

When I connect my phone to the computer after it installs the software it says HTC dream and not Hero. This is keeping PdaNet from working and HTC sync does not show my phone either. I am using fresh Rom 1.1. The weird thing is on my Win 7 64 bit computer it shows correct. Any ideas how to fix this?
This isn't a problem really, the software just sees an android phone and says Dream as it was the first android phone. PDANet and HTC Sync should work fine... actually, I have had problems with PDANet and HTC Sync both being installed, uninstall them both then just install PDANet and all should be well.
you have to manually change the driver to "My HTC"
Go to the device in device manager, hit update driver then hit manually select driver from list.

I did that many times and all it does is come back and say windows is already using the best driver for HTC Dream Composite ADB Interface
The problem with having the computer see it as HTC Dream is when I try and do a restore using the RUU from Sprint it says the phone is not connected to the computer nor will HTC Sync ever show green

I feel like an idiot. I failed to click search for driver from a list. Now it is showing right. Thanks for reminding me about that and just how easy it was LOL.
Cyanogen nightly less than a month old. USB Tethering won't work on my Work Laptop because "Android Phone" is showing up under "other devices" in Device manager. Win 7 is supposed to have this driver built in, but it's quite possible that my work stripped out these features when they prepped the computer.
Tried using XP driver, to no avail. plz help.
Did you try reinstalling the latest version of HTC sync?

The subject of this post is definately not what I was hoping I was getting from the title :-(
I second the "HTC sync" install prior to trying anything else.

Hello everybody,
I got myself a copy of Windows 8 pro through my school, and i installed it on my netbook. It's an Asus eeePc 1201HA. Installation went pretty smooth, and i love the fact it became faster with Windows 8 instead of 7.
But,
Everytime i turn on the pc and i go to the desktop modus, there is this error: ACPI Driver missing.
I have tried everyting so far, installed windows 7 driver, XP drivers, updated my bios to the latest version (fount a thread online saying this would solve the error). But I have had no luck so far.
Maybe the community can help me run windows 8 on my eeepc, without the error.
Its not ideal, but go to your BIOS n turn off ACPI 1/2, APM isn't as good bit it is functional an may patch up your problem foe the Time being

There is no option to turn off Acpi.

Good old OEM BIOSs! google your device for hidden BIOS menus sometimes pushing a series of buttons like alt F4 gives you more options

Nothing. I have searched the web. I am currently on an ami v02.61 bios. The option to turn acpi should be under the power tab. I don't have one thanks to Asus. I have tried every combo I could find. And mashed on a couple of others I could think of.
Damn netbook has been the worst purchase ever.

Hello.
I just connected my Google Nexus 4 to Win8, and I can't get it to work.
I can't access to the Nexus, I don't see the device, though it does appear on the devices, but I can't get into it on windows explorer.
I even installed a driver (though I know I shouldn't have had done that) and still - nothing.
Help?
Try again, because I am on wins 8....no issues at all.
amazing

You really think that now that you've told me to try again cause you have no issues so everything works suddenly?
WDF?
try enabling development mode if it isn't already. I've seen sometimes it won't let you browse the directory without it on
What do you mean? where?

It doesn't report as a drive. The nexus uses MTP for connection. Not UMS like older android phones.
It will show up as a device. Just click there to open in explorer.

From the start menu just type "computer"
Then, scroll down and double click Nexus 4.
does your device manager recognize it. should show under Android Device - Google Nexus 4 ADB Interface
work fine for me, ensure you driver installed successful.
you need to Disable Driver Signature Enforcement :
How to Disable Driver Signature Enforcement in Windows 8:
From the Metro Start Screen, open Settings (move your mouse to the bottom-right-corner of the screen and wait for the pop-out bar to appear, then click the Gear icon).
Click ‘More PC Settings’.
Click ‘General’.
Scroll down, and click ‘Restart now’ under ‘Advanced startup’.
Wait a bit.
Click ‘Troubleshoot’.
Click ‘Advanced Options’
Click ‘Windows Startup Settings’
Click Restart.
I think I had a similar problem, I had to disable USB debugging in the phones settings for it to work.

I think he was getting at the fact that it's not Win 8's fault.
I'm also on Win 8 and 3 PCs and it works on them all with no problems.
You should be a bit nicer to people if you expect any help. Surprised these other people even bothered responding to you.

Hi everybody,
I just bought a nexus 7 2012 yesterday and I encounter many difficulties to plug it to my computer.
I have rooted the tablet, it runs under Android 4.3 with the firmware JWR66Y.
When I plug it, my computer running with Windows 7 makes appear the tablet in the device manager and it is noticed that this device works correctly.
But I think that there is a problem because I have no idea of the way to transfer files ! The tablet doesn't appear somewhere else !
Thanks for the help you can give me,
Florent.
