Tether Stripper? - EVO 4G General

Cyanogen nightly less than a month old. USB Tethering won't work on my Work Laptop because "Android Phone" is showing up under "other devices" in Device manager. Win 7 is supposed to have this driver built in, but it's quite possible that my work stripped out these features when they prepped the computer.
Tried using XP driver, to no avail. plz help.

Did you try reinstalling the latest version of HTC sync?

The subject of this post is definately not what I was hoping I was getting from the title :-(
I second the "HTC sync" install prior to trying anything else.

My Hero is showing as HTC Dream

When I connect my phone to the computer after it installs the software it says HTC dream and not Hero. This is keeping PdaNet from working and HTC sync does not show my phone either. I am using fresh Rom 1.1. The weird thing is on my Win 7 64 bit computer it shows correct. Any ideas how to fix this?
This isn't a problem really, the software just sees an android phone and says Dream as it was the first android phone. PDANet and HTC Sync should work fine... actually, I have had problems with PDANet and HTC Sync both being installed, uninstall them both then just install PDANet and all should be well.
you have to manually change the driver to "My HTC"
Go to the device in device manager, hit update driver then hit manually select driver from list.

I did that many times and all it does is come back and say windows is already using the best driver for HTC Dream Composite ADB Interface
The problem with having the computer see it as HTC Dream is when I try and do a restore using the RUU from Sprint it says the phone is not connected to the computer nor will HTC Sync ever show green

I feel like an idiot. I failed to click search for driver from a list. Now it is showing right. Thanks for reminding me about that and just how easy it was LOL.

[Q] I/O Tab Mounting With Mac

Hey everyone,
I love my tab from I/O but as a Mac user I am stuck with no way to connect it to my mac to put videos on or anything. Every time I attach it to my Mac (or even PC) it wants to load Kies. It doesn't give me the option to mount as disk or anything.
On my Windows 7 PC it does allow me to browse it as a folder but I don't use my PC for any video downloading or anything. Is there a solution for Mac? I tried downloading the DMG for Honeycomb tablets from Android.com but it still didn't work for the Samsung tab. Not sure what to do here.
Second thing... someone needs to break a version of the new Netflix app to work on Honeycomb. I can get the app to load as is but it won't let me play video, says that this device is not supported.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Did you try this: http://www.android.com/filetransfer/ Should work. I used it with the Xoom and it worked like a charm.
Also if you have the SDK installed you can use ddms to open a file explorer. (In the same menu where you can launch the screen capture app)

I did try that and it did not work, because I think Kies is persistent and messes with it. Any other ideas would be great.
And to be clear: neither Kies on the mac nor Windows recognizes it either -- they say it's an unsupported device.
I managed to get a movie on it for the flight home by connecting in windows (VMware), installing Kies (for the drivers) and mounting it as an external drive.

Really that would be a disaster for the 10.1v because of a lack of a SD card...... It would mean that one only can transfer files over a network.
But I assume that uninstalling Kies would solve this?
Deleted.......
Anyone else know anything that might help? I don't have Kies installed and cannot get it to work on my Mac.

I tried both the Windows and Mac versions of Kies, and ended up having some luck with XJNB. I have a post on my blog (at surfsoftconsulting.com) explaining this, have a look at the Galaxy Tab First Impressions entry. The problem seems to be that Samsung's implementation of MTP is rubbish. Worst case scenario is that the update to 3.1 will include Google's own (and hopefully less buggy) implementation. I guess a more worse case is that Samsung have donated their code to 3.1... sigh.
I should add that since doing a factory reset I've not been able to get XJNB to work with the tablet :-( so I shall probably move to using a Wifi based solution

filetransfer doesn't work - at least not for me - with the I/O Galaxy Tab 10.1 (MacBook Pro early '08, OS X 10.6.7). I've written more elsewhere on this thread, I won't repeat it here.

[Q] Enable dotnet 3.5 issue.

The most annoying issue of win8 as I feel is enabling of dotnet 3.5
The problem is I don't have a decent internet connection to download that from online installer. All I need is an offline installer file for that. I had downloaded the 3.5 offline file from Microsoft website which is around 190MB size. But when I try to install it the same annoying dialog box appears which says that the program needs to enable dotnet 3.5.
How can I get rid of this. Any working solution to download the installer offline. Please give me the links.

Same here.Plz help!!!
I noticed this too...I just let it download itself...it did take a little while. Not sure if using an offline installer will work.
It's a combination of Microsoft's servers, and your connection.
My 2mb connection can't download the files needed for .net framework 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5, it times out eventually. At my parents house though on a 6mb connection, it takes awhile but it downloads.
Can u guys tell me how much is the size of download when using online installer (approximately) so that I can have an idea what the progress will be and how long will it take.

You guys/ladies check the "Windows Features" to see if your .NetFramework is turned on?

[Q] Cannot solve my Wifi problem.

Long story short, I installed windows 8 and since then my computer will not detect my router. Ive turned it on and off several times and nothing. I read something about having the correct drivers but I cant find the darn things anywhere and there is little to no simple info explaining how to fix this.
I tried the search bar but the damn thing wont work on my kindle. Someone please help me out. I have the 64 bit version. Ill provide any other info that might help.
Many thanks!
you need to figure out what wifi card you have and then download the appropriate drivers. If your having troubles because your on your kindle, just give me the make and model of your computer and i can try the google-fu and see what i can come up with.

Ok I think Ive located my wifi card model
It is WAN Miniport. Im not sure which one I need to be looking at as there are multiple items named WAN Miniport but with a term in parenthesis e.g (LT2P, SSTP, IKEv2)
I found this by searching for system information and scrolling down to the Components tab and going Components > Network > Adapter
Here is the computer I have: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Toshiba...lver/4684487.p?id=1218508069136&skuId=4684487
Am I on the right track? I can try to find more info if you guys request it, but really I have no idea where I have to look. Ive never had to deal with a wifi problem that took me past turning the router on and off
Thanks!!!

[Q] Windows XP Driver

I had no issue getting the driver installed for Windows7, but I cannot my XP machine to install a driver that recognizes the Nexus 7. I even tried the Naked 0.7 driver with no luck. I haven't seen much info out there when searching for this here at XDA, anyone have any luck this week with getting an XP driver to work?

I have the same problem. Check your WinXP Window Media Player version. If it's 9 or older,
that may be the problem.
After I updated my Window Media Player 9 to version 11, I now see the N7 in "My Computer".
I was able to drag and drop file then.

A note for those searching this topic here on XDA -
I found this to be very helpful (slight addendum to the above helpful response) - http://www.alokagrawal.com/blog/archives/88
I had to point both the MTP device and the Nexus 7 device (from Device Manager) to the drivers.
Also, you must NOT be in USB debugging when you plug in the N7 or the device will not register. Hope this helps others.
