Just read this at Androidcentral:
Dear valued ASUS customer,
At ASUS, one of the key commitments we make to our customers is a relentless drive to deliver the best user experience. We constantly strive to achieve this goal through our ‘Design Thinking’ philosophy that includes regular software and firmware updates for our products.
We are pleased to announce that many of our tablet products are scheduled to receive an update to Android 4.1, Jelly Bean. The ASUS Transformer Pad, ASUS Transformer Pad Prime and ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity are all scheduled to receive Android 4.1 updates in the coming months. We will provide further guidance on our expected timeframes for these updates near their release.
We are still investigating Jelly Bean updates for other devices, but we are not in a position to confirm whether any other products will be eligible for an update at the moment.
Thank you for your continued support.

ASUS Transformer Pad IS the TF300T, so it will get JB
If that is true...GREAT!
Of course it is. Transformer Pad = TF300, Transformer Pad Infinity = TF700 and Transformer Pad Prime = TF201
I'd change the title of the topic now, if I were you, so people won't get misled
"ASUS today dropped word on its plans for Jelly Bean updates. The lucky tablet winners? The Transformer Pad, Transformer Pad Prime and the Transformer Pad Infinity."
The article on Android Central highlights the tablet names, click on the Transformer Pad and it sends you to the TF300's page

I am having trouble understanding the delay with an official JB update given Asus did build the Nexus 7. I am sure Asus is ready to roll on this as soon they get the green light from Google.

What do you mean
..this OTA doesn't go through Google. Asus pushes the update. I am sure they are in a good spot with the tf300 and the prime since the hardware is nearly identical to the N7.
The only thing they might be waiting on from Google is the go ahead so they don't beat them to JB on their flagship 10” tablet the xoom

That was exactly what I was referring too. Make sure Google is satisfied with their priority devices' (nexus branded) upgrades and their agreed upon lead period. Of course Asus controls the technical side of the equation.

Google is dropping Flash support starting with 4.1, to force content delivery shift to html5.
I think the OTA will come faster than, say a Verizon phone. Since there's no cell carrier involved, the release should come faster than when an update has to be bloated with carrier crap and be subjected to carrier testing.

No in fact it's Adobe who's dropping Google. They said it in a statement. I think it's on their webpage... So JB doesn't have Flash? :S

don't worry, most sites use html5 and you can still sideload the flash apk, then use firefox or boat browser or whatever browser except Chrome then you'll be able to watch flash videos.
i'd use Chrome as my default browser but firefox to watch flash videos, kinda annoying but i don't usually watch flash videos so it's not a problem for me,
jelly bean is not just smoother but it also has google new voice search, google now,... so i don't think you should keep ics with you.

I think Adobe is about to drop Flash completely. They already discontinued Linux and OSX support (then reinstated Linux support, but I think they may have discontinued it again; I haven't cared enough to follow up), and now Android is gone. I realize that Windows is the dominant OS and still has Flash support, but the number of people with Linux, OSX, Android, and iOS adds up, and everyone is moving to HTML5 anyway. I think Flash will be completely unsupported by Adobe within 18 months (maybe 12 if the Internet is lucky), and about a year after that, the last Flash website will be converted to HTML5 or some new, better standard.
Installed JB on my phone the day it was released and I still have flash.

Anonymous source in linked article. I don't believe it until I see the system update light up. Sorry. First of many of these sort of "reports" I am sure.
Pocket lint has been pretty good in the past. They also reported about upcoming 3.1 update back in May (the same author):
http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/400...former-acer-iconia-a550-honeycomb-3-1-updates
So while I agree - that until I see notification popup on my device it's too early to celebrate - it's a good sign.
3.1 update and ICS are totally two different worlds. :/
Given the way ASUS has rolled regarding updates I would expect that once Google releases Honeycomb for tablets (remember they didnt even mention the Xoom) we will only be a couple of months behind.
I still won't be updating till Roach has had a chance to optimize ICS for us.
Tablet UI already built in ICS so it should be that hard for ASUS
http://androidapproved.com/item/ice-cream-sandwich-confirmed-to-have-a-tablet-interface/
As some people said before: looking at how frequently ASUS has updated the Transformer and has reacted very good to user input (selectable trackpad scroll direction and mouse pointer look as one example) and given the fact that the Transformer was the best selling Android tablet in 2011, I'm very confident, not to say 99% sure, that ASUS will update his first flagship tablet to ICS and will keep it updated for a year at minimum.
They know they established themselves some good reputation with their update politics and they won't risk to lose that again.
ASUS, you rule! thank you, thank you!
In the Android tablet market you have only three choices. You either lead, follow, or get out of the way. Asus is the front runner. I'm looking forward to ICS on my Transformer.

While the article is titled "Transformer to be first" with ICS, nowhere in the article does it say the Transformer will indeed be the first tablet to get ICS. It seems more like "Asus is the first manufacturer to say its tablet will get ICS" which doesn't really amount to much info.

lol i think they made a mistake there. should be 2014.
On a more serious note, I think the support for ASUS is much better than Samsung. I traded my SGT 7 + $100 cash for a transformer. SGT 7 was such a heavily marketed flagship device and yet there's no support for ICS. Really ridiculous. Luckily the SGT 7 has great devs but still, lots of work have to be done by them in order for ICS to work on SGT 7.
The day iPad3 hits the shelves I'll say goodbye to my transformer.

We really need more threads with no news.
Feb/March can still mean tomorrow.
It will be here when it does.
Asus (and other manufacturers) will probably eventually learn to not make any promises whatsoever. Then any updates will just be a surprise.
I have a TF101 and I really don't feel Asus is required to provide me with an ICS update. I hope they do, but I can hardly make demands based on random Facebook/Twitter/forum posts.
this is funny and clische why are they even posting release dates ? If you dont know, why post IT?
Seriously? You need to post another topic on this? Terrible..
Sigh.... Worst PR department ever.
Asus isn't doing a very good job of making me want to be a return customer...
When is that Google branded Next Gen tab coming out again?
Words can't describe how much I don't care about ICS on my TF.
Think of this from a marketing angle: If Asus releases ICS simultaneously for TF101 and TF201 they will sell way less TF201s. Of course they stretch it as far as possible.
Ironically I have ICS on my ancient HTC Hero. My LG Optimus 3D isn't getting ICS until Q3 2012. LG doesn't even fix a bug that makes the phone miss a lot of calls and SMSes.
You think Asus customer service sucks? try LG!
ICS for my ancient LG Swift is ready for me to install thanks to the folks that make CM7. I only have to find time to install it. I think I won't wait for ICS on TF101 by Asus too.

I care about ICS because i heard some saying it increases much the responsiveness and general performance for the TF101, and I really want to make my new TF101 better.
Samsung is pretty bad with updates. Asus is doing good. Samsung/att just released gingerbread to the infuse 4g about two weeks ago. It was buggy and made the touch screen unresponsive. I went back to froyo.

I bet it got delayed cause they had to scramble to fix the prime and stopped working on our update which in turn delayed us...
This could be really bad for us since two to three months after we get ice cream sandwich. Our tab will be out dated.
Or this could be greater news if Acer plans to support A500 to Jelly Bean.
Anyway hard to believe a tab is outdatedwithin 1 year of purchase. Any thoughts?
Most likely, if Acer makes the move to J.B. as fast as for I.C., we`ll have it in 2014

If our systems support Jelly Bean, we are better off. I read they are pretending the attrocious rollout of ICS didn't happen and are going to make sure JB goes to everything a lot quicker. Just hope that means our older devices as well...
It's the same as every mobile device these days, nothing to get excited or disappointed about. It's not as though they have lost functionality because some other, newer device has some new bits or bytes. If it worked for you when you bought it, chances are good it will be doing the same jobs for you next fall, whether it has JB, ICS, or HC. If you want to guarantee you have the latest and greatest for the years ahead, well, you will have to continually buy the latest and greatest.
This is stupid on Google's part. How many devices have ICS so far? At least give ICS its time and keep making J.B. better.

There were reports from way back before ics was launched that some planned features were being bumped to jellybean ... it was more important to get a unified core with missing features than to delay till it was all done ... as such it was always expected that jellybean would be the final stage of unification ...

Both Acer and Google have been pretty good about updates on our tablets. ICS was teased a long time ago... before the 3.2 and even 3.1 HC updates pushed. Google will release Jelly bean, and probably late decemeber or early january, we'll see it pushed by Acer. Worrying NOW whether OUR tablets will get it, when ICS isn't even out yet, is a waste of energies.
(but, Acer, please please PLEASE get some new naming pattern. Jelly Bean? Really? "Hey, Fred, I have the new Apple MOUNTAIN LION operating system! What are you running over there?" "Jelly Bean, teeheehee!!!". Oy.)

I fully agree, but that's Google's call, not Acer's.
Would be great to get it on our tabs, but I doubt it.. sadness.
I hear the main features of Jelly Bean is the ability to dual boot. And the main reason for Google to launch ASAP is that when Windows 8 tablets comes out they should pack android with it.
Heard any other features for Jelly Bean?

I'll have my fingers crossed that the Gifted Team of dev's here give us JB. So, to sum things up...

I HATE MY TABLET! I NEED THE NEW OS!!!
>>>a new OS is released
Repeat as necessary
Today it is worth watching the Google I/O that they will talk abot the new codecs the JB will support. Note that JB will support NEON Instructions. Isn't that the only limit that prevent us from watching 720p mkv videos? I mean that maybe with the new OS we will be able to do so. If that's true then that's awsome because it is the only feature that I miss.
I thought what was limiting us for 720p MKV's was the Tegra 2 and not codecs? I thought the Exynos w/ Mali could play MKV's easily vs the Tegra2.
Tegra 3 is supposed to play MKV's.
This thread discussion is going to be continued in the new Sticky Thread JellyBean Ota
-----THREAD CLOSED-----
Google has inadvertently confirmed that the next version of Android will be called “Jelly Bean” and that it will appear in the new Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ phone.
hough the report lists Jelly Bean as “Android 4.1,” other rumors have said that’s the code-name for Android 5.0. Google is said to be switching strategies for Jelly Bean, allowing multiple manufacturers early access to the OS. Previously, Google had partnered with a single manufacturer to provide a “reference” for other models.
More details about Jelly Bean will likely be announced at Google I/O, the developers’ conference, next week in San Francisco.

Let's see if it is a "new" android version or an enhanced version of ICS (that was an enhanced version of GB)....
Looked around but couldn't find the hardware specs it needs, will the note (still) be able to handle this ??
I know that there are going to be devs playing around with it but if it comes out "original" it will be more reliable in the earlier versions.

Galaxy Note didn't even get ICS in my opinion, though they label it ICS it is a premium suite as they say, so Note didn't get ICS just got a premium suite which is a faint resemblence to ICS but carries a ton of bugs and issues that can be avoided by not upgrading. Its good to see a new version already coming out and hopefully (fingers crossed) Samsung grabs this chance to fix thier mistake that is ICS for the Galaxy Note

Since it's Android 4.1 and not 5.0 it clearly means it's a minor upgrade ( meaning that it's "enchenced ICS" ).
I don't see why we wouldn't get it since the current Nexus device has even weaker hardware than Note. The only reason there might be for not getting it - is Samsung's policy. But there's always Cyanogenmod.

I'm really disappointed by Samsung updates that also take too long to be released.
I just hope this time Samsung will release a real update with great UI and not that TW crap again.
"According to an Acer spokesperson, the company has official made plans to roll out Jelly Bean to the Iconia Tab A110, A210 and the A510 before the end of this year. On a less happy note, they also confirmed that the A100, A200, and A500 would not receive the update most likely due to limitations in the hardware.
By the end of the year may seem like a long wait, but it’s most definitely better than never. Keep your head up, Iconia owners."

On a more serious note lol, if xda can do it acer should kinda hang they're heads in shame, im not saying cm10 is working bug-free, it isnt, but it is running about 89%....whats the deal acer be honest, you just cant be bothered eh?

You're right bro, Acer aren't bothered about updating A500 or the others mentioned in the earlier post. That's why I decided to get a pure android device on the phone side. i'm presently on Galaxy Nexus after the disappointment HTC dished out on the HTC Desire not getting an OTA to gingerbread. I'm going to wait for Google to announce 10" tablet with very good specs such as HDMI out, USB charging port and very good screen resolution before getting another android tablet. Done with these OEMs messing about when it comes to updating.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Acer didn't have the time to change build.prop to give ICS to Packard Bell G100W, I think that no JB is not a surprise for anyone
Limitations of the hardware? There are already two JB roms for the A500. Aside from some issues that will surely be worked out in both roms, its pretty obvious that the A500 (and as such the A200, thats the A500 clone that has the ring and no rear camera, right?) can handle JB.

lol, i think they actually spouted the same crap about the ring not available for the a500 because of a hardware conflict,,,,, yet i have the ring right now on the flexreaper rom type: stryker
i am getting pulled by the a110 but unless acer can sort out theyre updating game soon ill be doin as nasimdejai says and hitting a more mainstream device.:crying:

tegraowners is CM10 as well, its just he who shall not be named's build of CM10. the tegraowners ICS was CM9, despite what some people around here have tried to claim about it lacking theme support and cyanogenmod options.
and it would appear that with Civato's post that there will soon be three CM10 based roms. Civato always does great work, too.

After reading this, I decided to contact Acer and ask if this was true and for an explanation cause this would really make me mad. According to the rep I talked to via chat. he/she (I couldn't tell). They are working on a JB for the A500. They are working with Android and don't have a date yet but it will be released eventually. I don't know what to believe but obvious the Acer Spokesperson and the support rep I talked to are not on the same page.
This site is everything right with open-source community-based OSs.
I love the progress we're seeing on the CM10 port and all of the hard-working folks that are dedicating their time and knowledge to bring it to the rest of us!
The only thing I would humbly ask is that if it is possible, please don't forget about those of us in the "more-money-than-good-sense" crowd. (Also known as A501 owners. )

A500 always has update before A501, which make me thinking shouldn't get the A501 before
