I was wondering if anyone knows what things in titanium backup i can freeze and stop that wont affect the usage of the phone. I would like to stop and freeze as many as I can without limiting it.

I noticed in a process viewer that I have :
aPermanent.exe
cPermanent.exe
nPermanent.exe
tPermanent.exe
I would assume these are for permanent saves? If not, does anyone know what they are used for? If I haven't enabled permanent saves, would it be dangerous to kill off these processes and perhaps registry edit to prevent them from running?
Since these processes are constantly running, it would save 4 processes slots .
Thanks!
You are right!

while phone looks like its sleeping the apps are still working and using the processing power for whatever they are doing there behind the black screen.
and theres alot of apps that need to sync or update or pull data off the internetz
would that be a possible issue of standby battery drain?
i mean i can turn my phone on at random times and there will be 10-20 apps running in the background when i didnt even use them.
they just start check something and sut back down.
can i stop the apps from autolaunching?
remove task killer and run auto killer .. also use autorun killer to stop certain apps from starting. I would caution you to be careful what apps you stop. You make cause important apps not to work.

If there are apps running its cause they have a task to do. You can manually change your syncing to stop these apps from starting. Also try autokiller and set it to aggressive. This way the apps continue there task and android shuts them down faster than normal
Thanks for the tip. I have both running. I haven't stooped any apps from running with autorun killer, I'm hoping it does it on its own. The other is set on aggressive.

Yes, I read the other threads out there but no true answer.
I have a ton of apps in my auto-end list... I've heard two things, keep em on there and let them kill them but I also heard for Android 2.2 and above it actually hurts the battery life because it takes more juice to restart the app after being killed then actually leave it running. Any insight on this at all? I currently have every app that isn't a widget on the auto-end list and would like to know if I should stick to this or get them off there?
I added and removed stuff on the auto end list and it doesn't seem to make a difference to me. I started to "freeze" apps from starting by using Titanium Backup. I know it costs a couple bucks but whenever I change ROMS, it reinstalls all my apps that I had downloaded. There's apps like weather service and news, DLNA, and a few others that I don't use but when I look at running apps they are running. Hope this helps.

I use Gemini App Manager to alter the auto-start conditions for every app. Apps don't start until I start them. Isn't a noticeable difference between startup times for me. Once they are running, I let them run or quit on exit if the option is there.

I have TiBu and do freeze apps I don't use but I'm talking like the Market staying open after you shut off the screen or the messaging app, etc. Not apps I don't use, I'm actually talking about apps I use, apps I don't use are already frozen.
I wouldn't have anything on auto-end list... It basically force closes the app every time you exit out of it then, which is a big no-no.
The way I see it, if an app is using battery in the background, it needs to do it and shouldn't be closed. If it doesn't need to use any battery or processing power, then it won't even if the task manager SAYS it's still running (it's really minimal).
Task killers are probably only useful to kill apps that are going haywire and running when they shouldn't be...In which case, reinstall or just don't use that app.
But I say, don't put anything on auto end. If you are worried about losing battery, lemme tell you I get two days of battery life and I don't do even have a task manager. I just use setcpu to underclock while the screen is off/while I'm sleeping/etc.
I wondered about this too, and while some people still claim to get better battery life with one, I always see articles like this: http://androinica.com/2010/05/googl...-imply-task-killermanager-apps-are-pointless/ that tell me you should never use one ever.
You don’t need to kill an app just because a task manager says it’s running. Android automatically closes apps if the phone requires RAM or if that app remains inactive too long.

There's also this quote that seems to argue that it's more harmful:
Applications may seem present to the user without an actual process currently running the app; multiple applications may share processes, or one application may make use of multiple processes depending on its needs; the process(es) of an application may be kept around by Android even when that application is not actively doing something.

I keep something around to easily pick out running apps to force close if they're borking out on me, but I don't have any auto-kill or kill all running apps with a whitelist or anything.
Hi guys,
It may or may not have been covered in this particular forum - I'm hoping someone could point me in the right direction.
I have an Acer Iconia which includes software from my telco (Optus; Australia), and I'm wondering what the best process would be to have the bloatware removed?
I've rooted, and reinstalled the firmware on my SGS - would the process be similar to the Iconia?
Thanks in advance..
Freeze Apps
Best way to (Like Uninstall Bloatware) is to "freeze" them. If you find out that you frooze a certain one needed, you can "De-Frost" it back into ROM.
Frozen Apps will not show up on Apps List. They will show up in Settings - Applications
It will save Resources, make faster, less running aps in background, etc.
Apps that freeze :
"Titanium Backup Root" (Full version)
"MyBackup Pro 3.0.6.apk" (full version)
I like Titanium app, It shows them in Blueish background, easy to see what is frozen.
Best to freeze a few at a time to know what didn't work, to know which one to unfreeze (if you get a FC or error)
thanks for that.. will look into titanium!
Cheers!

To add to this, once you've frozen and tested how the tab runs for a few days and are sure theres no errors that occur, you can completely uninstall them with titanium backup.
Hi,
For some time now I have struggled With a few apps always emerging under battery information under settings.
The apps involved is Facebook, Instagram (and a couple more) and both has the Message "Awake the system on a regular basis".
Marking the apps and Select Close or Deactivate is successful for a few moments. However after a short time they are back again whether I use the apps or not. Is there a way to stop the apps from emerging? I seem to hav tried everything, ie. closing and/or deactivating under Settings>battery and de-selecting Allow warnings under the separate app. Any ideas are appreciated.
