HTC HD2 Solving Obtaining IP Address via Changing from DHCP to Static? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi
Been trying to resolve the Obtaining IP address problem of my HTC HD2 Android from DHCP to static but most threads do not talk about the "Network Prefix length" but are talking about Netmask. I dont have Netmask on my phone.
Will changing from DHCP to static work in the first place?
Pls help!
Model HTC HD2
Android Version 4.0.4
Build Number IMM761
MOD version IceCreamTosti v1.2 AOKP

Netmask is nearly always 255.255.255.0
Network prefix is nearly always 24
Yes static works fine. Settings - Wi-Fi - Long press the wifi connection - modify - show advanced.

Is it possible to give my Hermes a static IP?

I connect to a WiFi network where each component has a static IP, the problem being that my Hermes will take the earliest free IP address that it can find causing the PC which has that IP address to start spouting errors?
How can I remedy this?
If you have access to the router or buzz the (lousy ) administrator, configure the DHCP to a range that noone has a static IP in (for example x.x.x.250 and up)
After playing around with the router I think that I might have struck gold. Thanks for the speedy reply. I'll post an update in a day or two.
You can set fixed IP addresses on the device as follows:
Start>Settings>connections>Network cards>network adapters (tab)
Here you can then tap each type of connection on the list and choose either server assigned address or enter a specific address.

HTC Touch p3452 WM 6.1 Wifi Issues

Hi friends, i have HTC touch running on windows mobile 6.1. I have my modem configured for a static ip configuration, and both my laptops are connecting to it via the static configuration where
IP is : 192.168.1.x
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS Address: 192.168.1.1
Before on i used to easily connect to the wireless network with the same settings, but recently it connects for one second and then it seems as if my modem bars the mobile's ip from data exchange and it reamins connected to internet only for a few seconds. I reformatted the phone completely, but even then the same thing is happening. Can any one help me?
I am sure the security key is correct too as it shows connected, but what can be the issue?
i asked same question Many times in Diffrent Forum But No reply. I got news that Windows Mobile are not good For Wifi

Wireless IP address

Hi guys and girls...
I've just flashed MDJ's CyanogenMod7 v2.5 rom and now having trouble with my wireless network.
I can see the phone picked up an IP address and connects to the network. The phone says it has an IP address from my DHCP range.
When looking at the logs on the router, the IP address is not what I was expecting to see. The IP address I get is 178.104.241.159 - the MAC address is correct.
I don't understand this.
When I manually set up an IP address it it appears for about 30 seconds, I seem to get to google.co.uk but then when searching for something the page times out and the IP address reverts to a 178 address...
has this happened to anyone else?
Oh yeah, I'm using radio 2.10.50.28
Cheers in advanced...
hi, i just up My HD2 with TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 RC3+ v2.8.5 room and have issue with Wifi, It's not stable. anybody have solution for this issue ?
thanks
Name: customer61856.104.wv.cust.t-mobile.co.uk
Address: 178.104.241.159
you arent connected to the wifi by the looks of it as that ip address is not a local IP from your router it is your data connection IP

[Q] HD2 obtaining IP

Hello,
Today i've installed android on my HTC HD2, it works like a charm, except the WIFI. When i try to connect to my wireless network, it keeps saying: obtaining IP-address and nothing happens..
I've tried two different roms and three different radio firmwares without any succes...
Who knows what i can do to solve this problem?
Thanks!
Is your network set to use static IPs? I.E no dhcp server?
Or, is the network in ad hoc mode rather than infrastructure? Not 100%sure but seem to remember that causing issues.
the ip is dynamic i think. do i have to change it to static?
if the modem's security is WEP change it to WPA.

No need, I was just suggesting a scenario where dhcp wasn't issuing IP addresses.
security is wpa-psk i think

[Q] WLAN Hotspot Settings

Can anyone help me, I use static IP addresses to connect to my mobile devices, as such I need to know the IP config of the WLAN Hotspot on the pdaimatejam ROM
It may be that they are the same for all WP7 ROM's but am unable to connect using static adresses at the moment.
Many thanks

Thanks for that I hve already tried and it failed, I also have a specific requirement to use static information hence the post.
I used to use my Touch HD in this way and the settigs were
Ip adress: 192.168.1.2
Subnet:255.255.255.0
Gateway:192.168.1.1
DNS: 192.168.1.1
192.168.1.1 being the adress of the WLAN Hotspot ie Touch HD.
These settings do not work on the HD2 conecting to WP7 WLAN Hotspot so an looking for the config details so I can manually connect to them.
ok, to clarify: you want use hotspot on HD2 and want other to connect to HD2?
no manually settings... all is automatically... just turn ON WLAN hotspot on HD2 and other devices automatically must find him and connect, enter password and thats all
my Lumia 920 connect without problem to HD2 hotspot
if help this is IP address from HD2 hot spot:
IP: 192.168.33.2 (Lumia 920 IP)
default gateway: 192.168.33.1
dns: 192.168.33.1
Wlan Hotspot settings

No it is used as a wifi router for a couple of laptops which use static IP adresses, hence why I need the IP configuration of the HD2 with WLAN Hotspot.
I have tried on both laptops setting to autoipconfig and they dont work and also screws up their settings when used elsewhere.
All I need is the IP config details of WLAN Hotspot on WP7
Thank you
After much head scratching the solution is this:
If you set the IP setting to static in WLAN then these become your WLAN Hotspot settings as well...
Problem solved and phone now works properly with static IP connections.
