hi
i have a green lens defy.
i have already little experience on flashing cyanogen mod 7 and mod 9 and mod 10.
previously i have rooted stock, installed 2ndint and flashed cm7 over the stock like this..
bootmenu>recovery>custom recovery> factory reset>install zip>wipe cache>wipe dalvik cache>reboot.
i did not take the "backup all"(what u call it as NANDROID backup, isn't it?) of stock rom....ooops.
i did the same procedure to install cm9 and cm10..but this time i took backup of cm7 during cm9 installation and cm9 during cm10 intallation.
i did this all in custom recovery only.
In the bootmenu there were other options called stock recovery and stable recovery along with custom recovery.
and within custom recovery there was motorola recovery in advanced option.. But non of them brought the stock rom back on my device.
always shows exclamation in triangle and a androbot.
So i have finally tried the RSDlite and flashed my stock sbf.
AND NOW i am again on my way to install cm10 for defy. and this time with no mistakes....Please help me to do this.
0.why are the options stock recovery and motorola recovery not working....?what are they actually..when to enter/click that recoveries??
1.How do i take backup of stock so that i can go back at anytime?
2.is backing up stock rom also done through custom recovery and backup all? if that so then why are stock recovery and stable recovery and motorola recovery options present there?
3.did i install correctly first time?
Thanks for all your answers,

Yes, you are very confused! :silly: You know, when you install a custom rom it totally replaces your stock rom. The stock recovery is not there to recover your stock rom/restore it (where would it restore it from?? I'll have to disappoint you, but your phone is not magic!). The stock recovery can only wipe user data and install updates by Motorola onto an already existing system! You will never be able to restore your system to its original state if you don't have a backup or some idea what retail version you were on. But you'll definitely find a similar sbf over at droid developers or Walter's sbf thread.
When you see the exclamation mark with the cute green guy, you have to press vol+ and vol- together to reveal the stock recovery.
Motorola recovery = stock recovery = the recovery made by Motorola. You can acces it buy pressing vol- while powering up, through bootmenu>recovery>stock/motorola recovery or bootmenu>recovery>custom/stable recovery>advanced>motorola recovery
Hi guys,
After an attempt to install the new EOS JB rom, I got stuck at the loading screen and would not go further. I then tried to recover my backup rom and that still gets stuck at the boot screen. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I did some google search and I tried alot of methods. I am getting scared that I could brick my device and I need some guidance before I go any further. Please help!
The backup doesn't work because u need to flash the kernel,
In order to do that, Just flash your previous rom or if u know which kernel u had, flash the kernel
My TF101 will no longer boot. I was running the CM10 preview build, but I was having some random reboots and other issues, so I decided to flash CM9 this weekend. Like a good boy, I backed up apps with Titanium Backup and did a full backup in CWM (Roach).
I flashed the the ROM and GAPPS and was able to boot no problem. I used Titanium to restore my apps. I rebooted after the restore and was stuck on the boot animation for close to 20 min. before I forced a shutdown and went back into CWM. First, I tried a factory reset and tried to reboot, with the same effect, then I restored my CWM backup and had the same boot problem, then I tried a earlier CWM backup that also had the same effect.
I'm starting to worry about battery levels now. I started on a full charge, but it's been running a lot. I'm also out of ideas barring NVFlash, which I don't want to do unless I have to.
Is this the same issue?

Took the advice and tried flashing a ROM that thankfully I still had on my SDCard that was CM10 based and that let me restore my backup.

ICS based ROMs can't boot up with JB kernels and CWM backups don't contain the kernel as far as I am aware. If you want to go back to CM9, you would have to flash the appropriate kernel. Once you put CM10 on your device, it would contain a JB kernel, hence why it couldn't restore your nandroid.

I never flashed the kernel, I have been on stock. The EOS team says that JB will run with stock kernel so I did not change anything. How would I flash the kernel if I am stuck at boot screen? And which kernel should I get
Why can't you go back to CWM recovery, (holding down power and volume down button until you see some text then volume up?
For any ROM fresh install, you need to wipe data (factory reset), davik cache, cache, all in CWM Recovery before installing the ROM and kernel (optional).

I tried but apparently my CWM version does not work well with tf 101. I found a solution by flashing another CWM. Here is guide for those with the same problem.

Everything worked perfectly after I switched CWM to the rogue one

Your link is broken and i would love to try it.
I have the same problem.....
I rooted, installed Rom Manager to get CWM Recovery installed and then flashed the new CyanogenMod 10 - B1 ♦ K.A.T. As soon as I restarted, after it appeared that the flash went fine, it hung at the boot screen - not frozen just wont go any further.
I tried rebooting by holding the power button, I tried re-flashing both the CY 10 and the original Rom and tried "restoring" my backed up rom.
I have tried recovering through Easy Flasher but I don't think my PC is seeing the transformer properly.
I have ADB drivers installed but because the TF dose not boot properly it dose not seem to get there.
I have let the battery drain as some report a resolve when they get it to power down all the way but as soon as I plug it in and power it up it goes back to the boot screen and stays there.
Please help as I cant afford to lose this pad (yes I knew the risks).
Hey all,
I was planning to upgrade the Defy + from CM10 to CM11. I saw on the thread that I needed the newest TWRP recovery. I downloaded the zip file and tried flashing it. I also rebooted.
Now, when I am in 2ndint boot and choose recovery, it's just a blank screen and it restarts into CM10.
Is there any way to get recovery back? Or will I have to simply restore the .SBF and start over again ?
Thanks
Hi guy's
i have ME722 (milestone 2 china version blur) i bought it with cyanogenmod 4.3 firmware on it.but it was working so slow and i wanted to turn it back to cyanogenmod 2.3.6 or something like that which works easy,i downloaded 3 different firmware and copied to SD card ,i used power +x and after seeing android logo i pressed Vol+ Vol- together then i got menu,i pressed wipe cache and reset factory, then i go to update from SD card and when i'm trying to load zip files it say's signature error and nothing happens ,i should say i lost my ex cyanogenmod 4.3 firmware and now i just see Red M logo with nothing for loooong time when i press power, help me how to start as a noob and how to install new ROM or solve problem.thanks.
Stock recovery (accessed with holding x or @ during boot, then vol up + down) cannot flash custom ROMs. You have to flash CWM recovery first. But if you're stuck with Motorola logo, I think the only thing you can do is flash stock GB ROM with RSD Lite program under Windows. After that you should get a running fresh GB ROM (you might have to perform full system/cache clean from stock recovery). Then you have to root your phone (with gingerbreak exploit), then install "droid bootstrap" application, which flashes an early version of CWM recovery, then reboot, and while there's a blue led light press vol down to enter custom recovery. With it you should be able to flash CM10.1 ROM, which will update CWM to a version that is able to flash modern 10.2/11 ROMs.
I hope these tips help.
