Getting N7 to launch media player after hitting link in Chrome browser? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
I've noted that the recent iteration of Chrome behaves oddly when hitting on a video link.
For example, if I go to ESPN and hit on the play button, I'd hear the audio part in the video, but no video. The only way to get it to work is to get the link to launch in a new tab in order to select the video player that I want. This never happened before. My defaults are properly set.
Any thoughts on what this could be due to?
Thanks~

in chrome, mines show a pop up of what I want to use play the video. whether I want to use a browser, MXplayer, Stickit mediaplayer, or overscreen browser. it doesn't do it on all videos but I think its the ones not optimized for html5. or if its a flash type.

Why does the stock browser not multitask?

If I browse to a website that has streaming audio (radio) and I switch away from that, the sound (and video) stop. I briefly tried opera, but it didn't play flash for me and also did not render pages correctly. Maybe this dolphin hd will do what I want?
Rob
I don't think multitasking mean to can listen music from the browser when you are doing something...
Try using
TuneIn (just an example) it's a streamed music application (many many radio)
that works perfect
and best you can browse and do somthing else
There Is a active tab add on for dolphin HD browser. It lets you keep background tabs open. Youbcsn even choose for how long in its setting
Tab reload is the add on I have not tried but seen someonebelse say it will work

[Q] i9505 flash not running

Hi Guys, just bought the i9505 Qualcomm LTE version of the Galaxy S4 and after loading all my applications including the Flash player, I tried playing videos at youtube.com but found the message no flash player installed. I checked applications and it is definitely installed properly, I even installed UCS browser to make sure. On the stock browser I noticed that under settings, it is missing advanced options so I can't check if plugins are enabled.
Anyone managed to get flash to run on the stock internet browser care to share how it was done, many thanks in advance!
This video shows it working :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xA2erlhALA. However, after deleting cache and reinstalling flash, I was able to get one video to play on YouTube, but when I tried others, it said that I needed a newer version. But the one I downloaded was the most recent one for Android on the Adobe site???? Anyone have any answers.
However, when I click the video and it asks if I should play with the browser or YouTube, if I pick you tube it will play, and when I push th back button, it brings me back to the browser. I guess this is okay for Youtube but I wonder what happens if you encounter a video on a webpage. I went to Fox News and there found a video on it's page, click it played. Don"t know if it needs flash or not.
I went to ESPN, and clicked on a video, and it gave me a choice of download or Video Player. When I choose Video Player screen went blank nothing happened. Used back button to return to ESPN page. Didn't try download.
Nada, that's just opening up the video in the youtube app as opposed to viewing flash content in the browser. Looks like the stock browser is not using the flash plugin at all. Other browsers can use the flash plugin so only question remaining is how to activate plugins in the stock browser?

[Q] Flash videos via Dolphin Browser

Hi guys,
Rooted (CF-Root)
Stock Samsung Firmware: I9505XXUAMDE (Vodafone NZ)
I have installed Adobe Flash 11 using one of the many .apk files found on numerous websites (pretty sure I got it from XDA) but I'm having some weird issues. On my S2 I had no problem watching streamed videos using Dolphin and installing Flash Player after they dropped support, it still worked fine.
With my S4 however, something weird happens.
When I go to the website for the video, the video itself will be black and nothing plays.. once i tap the black area 3-4 times the video will start playing but I can't see any video controls, there's no pause, no progress bar, no volume.. nothing.
I thought I'd try a different browser, using the stock browser I can't stream the video directly from the page, but it opens the video and streams it using the phones media player app... I prefer this, the video is clearer and you have direct control over the video.
However, I still want to fix the problem above, because I prefer using Dolphin over the Stock browser :\ Could this be an issue with Dolphin? but that makes no sense because it works fine on my S2? has anyone had this problem?
tldr: dolphin streams videos but no video controls appear, stock browser streams the videos fine but does it via samsungs media player on the device
appreciate any help.

[Q] Method to make browser mimic iphone and how it handles videos?

Is there any way to make the browser or phone change how it handles videos.Like in its own standalone player. For example an embedded video on a website will play natively on the website on the note 3 but in iphone it will open an app to play it.
Is there any way to make the browser on android open an app when playing embedded video instead of having to struggle with the tiny little buttons from the video player. Its just a hassle having to re-size or hit the full screen button every time and having the video restart playing all over again.
What I'm thinking in my head is when opening a video link or embedded video have android open a video player app every time instead of playing natively in the browser. Youtube uses the app sometimes but many times it just plays in the mobile website of youtube which sucks too.

Open video in player instead of playing in browser?

On my nexus 5, when I play a streaming video in Chrome, it will prompt me to select from apps that I can launch the video in. I like this so I can play it in a dedicated video app instead of through the browser which usually lags.
I'm not able to do this anymore, any suggestions? All videos just plays through chrome. Thanks!
