I downloaded the android mac tool and it still doesn't read my tab 10.1. It reads and connects my xoom but not the galaxy tab.
Not compatible with Mac (yet? ever?). I've actually had to go dig an old XP HDD out of storage so that I can adb and transfer files back and forth.
that sux balzzz
No luck for me either...
Doesn't work for me either. After doing the 3.1 update for my LE Tab tonight I tried the Android File Transfer program with "usb debugging" both enabled and disabled but with no luck either way. I even tried re-downloading the Android File Transfer app from Google but it's the same version that's been up there since April.
Any Mac folks have a workaround besides using the painfully slow ddms debugger interface or doing network-based transfers (like smb or ftp)?
I think you need to use this. I haven't tried it yet though.

Hasn't worked for me either. I'm assuming that Android should the update to the app ready by next week for the Tab's wide release but that's wishful thinking. What about the Xoom and Transformer owners who also got the 3.1 update.:-\
Wait is this for real... A friend of mine and I just got ousr at the NY event, but a friend has to ship them to us. Will it not work with Macs? My friend has a Mac book... This would be terrible news...
At the moment, no it does not sync with Macs. Th Android File Transfer app hasn't been updated yet with the proper "drivers" to sync with Mac, but it should get updated soon. This isn't a "forever" type deal
I picked mine up yesterday, no syncing. Kies doesn't even recognize the device yet. Works with windows 7 though.
Interestingly, Adobe Lightroom is able to find the tab on my macbook.
I would just keep checking here:
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/GT-P7510MAVXAB
They had a Mac version that I downloaded before they took it down and it works. Not sure exactly why they took it down. Sorry I didn't save the dmg file.
i'm on the same boat, my xoom was working fine with SL, but my SGT doesn't work
I have been using FTP (SwiFTP on the marketplace) to transfer files until samsung or google get this fixed. I find this to be a ridiculous problem to be having.
Also, I tried Samsung Kies BETA for Mac and no dice.
From the official twitter feed:

@NoLeftTurns You're welcome! Glad your enjoying it! Kies for Mac will be here soon, we'll keep you posted! =) ^Sabrina

I'd prefer Kies-less entry honestly. (sorry for the pun...i had too ) I've been using ES File Explorer to connect to my NAS device and grabbing files from there. Far from ideal, but it could be worst
I just downloaded the latest version of kies and it seems to be working fine on my 2011 macbook pro... anyone know why the GT won't charge when it is plugged in, tho? i just have a red X over the battery...

I think i read somewhere what the SGT cant charge it with the usb cable connected to a computer port, my SGT indicate the same X with my MBP.
The kies app with the least samsung drivers works fine, but is bad i cant mount the sdcard like a hd storage.

Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Love the device. Great build, feels nice - just like everyone else says.
Why would anyone release a device that can't connect to a computer to transfer files? Am I missing something? I've tried connecting on Mac and Windows and searched high and low for drivers, tips, tricks, etc. Don't tell me Dropbox or some other back door solution. The whole reason I bought Android (I already have 2 ipads) is to eliminate itunes. Why would I want to have to use a software solution to transfer files - I would just stay with itunes if that were the case. I have an EVO 4G that mounts as a hard drive and when I load files the app recognizes (photo, music, video) and plays it. WTF!!!!!!
Can someone help? NO I AM NOT INTERESTED IN SOME STUPID WORKAROUND spending 30 hours at the risk of bricking and voiding warranty ending up with some laggy piece of crap custom ROM just to do ONE SIMPLE TASK - DRAG AND DROP! No offense, I respect what you hard cores do. I don't have time. I need $500 devices to work as expected.
Oh yeah, stupid POS wouldn't play an AVI file either. No idea why. Don't really care. It took 2 hours to transfer a file via Dropbox. Not doing that again.
Suggestions welcome. My Samsung Tab 10.1 is currently for sale on ebay. Maybe I'll take it down if some kind soul out there can help me figure this out.
Had the same issue. You just need the correct drivers for your PC. Hope that helps.
Try installing this on your mac - Android File Transfer
For some reason, Honeycomb devices don't mount as regular mass storage device, but rather under the Microsoft MTP protocol (verified when my friend with a mac told me I needed to install the Anrdoid File Transfer when I connected his Xoom to my Win7 laptop. I told him he's crazy, but he didn't know since he never connected his Xoom to a PC running Windows).
Hopefully it's fixed for the retail 10.1 tabs.
If you disable "USB debugging," your PC should recognize it as external storage.
I seem to have having the same problem (10.1).
I installed the samsung mobile drivers, and disable usb debugging.
Now when i plug in my tablet it says connected to samsung kies. On windows i get the pop-up for a usb storage connection, but I cant actually view the files and this doesn't show up in my computer.
Do i have to install samsung kies? I only installed the mobile drivers 'Samsung_USB_Driver_P4_Including_Escape'
Any help?
I installed both. My windows 7 identifies it with a mobile phone icon, but under it the sdcard is identified as a tablet(default name). When i connect it to my pc my GT displays "connected / press home key to quit Samsung kie" so I guess kids is requisite.

Thanks for the help. Installed Android File Transfer but still no luck with debugging on or off. It just says "No Android Device Found"
Maybe I have a bad unit or something?
Are there any Mac users out there that have been able to connect? I also have a Vista PC that I will start toying around with.
Use file manager app and do it wirelessly via wifi
It is easy and you dont need a pc ...
I've been having the same problem. It seems that the Android File Transfer program hasn't been updated since the change to 3.1. I'm pretty confident that it'll be fixed shortly. However this is an Android issue not a Samsung issue- . The Xooms and Transformers are having the same problem.

I'm leaning towards that it's a Samsung issue as my friend has both a Xoom and Transformer on 3.1 and Android File Transfer is working fine for them.
I've the 10.1v and I just plugged the usb cable and I saw the device as an external storage. Probably the problem is limited to the I/O devices.
For Divx try downloading "MoboPlayer". I thnink that the default avi player can play only h.264 files
Uhh from when i got my tab i had this problem as well all i did was go into control panel uninstall the drivers installed from the first time of plugging it in .. Then i went onto the tab disabled debugging and connected again let it install its drivers and i was set to go just make sure u have samsung kies installed onto your computer so it can find drivers and once the drivers were installed i went into my computer and it was there named something like pt-901 something lol hopefully this helps..

I still don't know how any OEMs are going to gain traction against Apple among the masses who don't have the patience to figure this stuff out. Luckily I have some time on my hands this weekend!
Dropbox is taking about 30 minutes to transfer a 700MB file from my laptop to my box and then DL to the Tab's memory. Not a great solution. Need to figure out this USB file transfer thing.

What codec was used for your AVI file? Xvid? If so, then that's whack of Samsung to list Xvid and AVI as native support under their specifications.
Do you need to install the Samsung Kies onto every computer you want to transfer files via USB with?
Other Android devices I haven't had to install any third party software for this.
Same here. Every other Android device I've had is drag and drop on both Mac and PC which is the main draw for me. EVO, Archos, etc, etc...
I also thought that Samsung claimed native playback for Xvid AVI files...??? Apparently not.
Finally works!!! While I was messing around with drivers for PC I discovered that Samsung posted and updated (June 9th) version of Kies which allows easy files transfer on Mac. Problem solved.
Now I just need to figure out how to charge over USB so I don't have to lug this brick of an AC adapter around and I'm converted!

The above is where I was able to DL both PC drivers and Kies for Mac that WORKS! One thing to note - make sure that you are on the Samsung US site. I read good review about Acer W500 and people installing Windows 8 on it. I just bought a used Iconia W500 with the attention to tryout W8. However the tablet package I got does not have any document or CD (restoration CD I assume) with it.
When power up, Win 7 show up, I tested a little bit and quite disappointed with the performance on both the Acer tablet and Windows 7 on it. It is far down away company to Dell Streak 5 and Samsung Galaxy S II.
Questions to the experts:
1. Should I upgrade the tablet (hardware perspective) so that it can run faster? Or just exchange with other brand name tablets, which has more power?
2. I still want to stick with Windows 7 or 8, because of the nature of my works. I need windows. What other android tablet which allow me to install windows 8 on it?
3. As for the Iconia W500 I have right now, please guide me how to back up Windows 7 first? What software do I need to make the back up the entire OS? I do have portable USB external drive about 500 GB. I also have USB portable DVD drive.
Thanks

Upgrade
Hi, keep in mind that windows 7 and the windows 8 developer edition does not support ARM processors (windows 8 will, soon). The processor in the tablet you have now must be a x86 processor for it to be running windows 7.
Also, check the start menu for restoration media creator or something of the like. Machines nowadays do not come with restore media. But they do come with a program to create that restore media.

I installed Win8 on my HP Mini 500 and there is a performance increase across the board.
Boot up is faster
Ribbon explorer makes it really easy for touch
Win8 has a dedicated keyboard for tablets
Less system resources used by junk processes

I got a W500 for Christmas and a 64gb hard drive. I immediately swapped out hard drives before the first boot and put Windows 8 on it. I love this machine with Windows 8. I didn't load any of the Acer bloatware and only loaded what I had to have. It is speedy and very responsive. Windows 8 dp has a lot of room for improvement, but is better than Windows 7 for this machine. Everything works as it should and I don't see any reason to put Windows 7 on it.

I hadn't tried until I read your post. No, it is not.
I've just finished swapping to windows8 on my iconia w500
the first thing is It was not so easy.....I've made it from USB drive and swapped for 64bit one.
System is more responsive
Ease of use comparing to Win7 much better
I see that I need bigger HDD the 32 Giga one that it came with was already on 23.7 from 29.8 avaliable in just 3days of use!!! That was on win7
now on win8 and it is on 17.9 after updates.. so not to good not to bad.
i've already found mSATA 64gb for 83£ wich is the cheapest here in Uk
AFAIK thais the only update You can do to your Iconia W500
my opinion swap ssd and go for win8 you will like it more

I bought a refurbed W500 cheap the other day. I had W8 up and running within about an hour. I didn't bother backing it up first.
Since then, I've done lots of monkey and have learned a great deal.
W8 32 bit seems to be the best way to go. The drivers from Acers site work to get the g sensor and screen rotation stuff working. The only thing that doesn't work correctly is Firefox. You can't click on bookmarks from the touch screen.
W8 64 works but the drivers don't work. There's also no reason to have 64 bit windows running with so little ram.
BTW I installed from an external DVD. The USB method appears to work, but is seems to be more of a pain. I had to buy an external DVD drive and got a writer for $32.
I'm very impressed with the performance. W8 runs great. Almost was recognized by the OS and all I had to do was install drivers for the G Sensor etc.
The Metro stuff is silky smooth.
After an install and a fairly judicious disk cleanup, I have about 20 gb of space remaining. I disabled hibernation to get rid of the enormous hybernation file.
There are still little quirks in W8 but it's not even a beta. I have high hopes for newer builds.
This thing is the tablet I've wanted for a long time. For $368 and the cost of the external drive, I couldn't be happier.
FYI, I also have Ubuntu running on it now and still have 12 GB free.
Greg
FYI, to get the thing to boot to the dvd: Shut down, hold Windows Button and Volume Up and press Power. Took me a while to find that.

Hey when you say the drivers for 64 bit do not work can you be more specific about what drivers? I installed 64 bit on my touch screen ASUS all in one desktop and it worked, but the touch screen drivers did not work. So it was a very poor experience for me...I mean the whole point is to be more touchscreen friendly....I have not found any solution yet to this issue for my computer and I Was surprised the drivers were not easily identified and working with such a new computer....let me know what you all think. Thanks!

In the case of the W500, the G-Sensor driver is where the problem lies. It only means that the screen won't auto rotate when you flip it around. I'm sure you don't do that with your all in one desktop so it's probably not an issue common to both models.
The touch screen on the W500 works perfectly out of the box. In fact, the only driver I had to install to make it work was the G-Sensor driver.
Interestingly, I found another issue. In 32 bit W8, Firefox doesn't work completely correctly. When you open a menu (ie bookmarks) you can't use the touch screen to select anything in the menu. Works fine if you use a mouse. However, in 64 bit W8, Firefox works perfectly. So you're left with a choice. Proper screen rotation or correctly working Firefox. I'm sure this will get resolved with either a Firefox update or perhaps the full beta of W8.
I have Iconia W500 for a month now.
If you would like to keep Win7 (for any reason), connect an ext hdd and create a windows image on it, you can restore it later any time.
I installed Win8 32 bit, you will have a completely different experience - Win7 is a S##t on W500.
Installing Win8 is pretty easy --> http://www.microsoftnow.com/2011/09/how-to-install-windows-8-on-acer-iconia-tab-w500.html
BTW: I faced some minor bugs in W8 but on the other hand, you have a decent windows tablet.
Go for Win8 and you will like it
Good luck.

like yourself I also got an acer w500 tablet because I have been reading good reviews about this tablet with windows 8. I bought mine brand new because any tablet after dec 2011 was upgraded to the amd c60 processor, tbh I love it, it is the definition of mobile computing
So to answers your questions
1 only upgrade if you want to spend 1000+ for a tablet as good as the w500
2 stick with windows 8 once you get used to it, its much faster than windows 7 in terms of productivity. And no android tablet will allow the installation of windows.
3 Google will be your best bet for that, because I got mine new, I have all the recovery disks.
Got the W500 less than 2 weeks ago and first thing I did was install Win8RP on it.
Easy as pie. Just extract the Win8ISO directly onto a fresh USB drive and boot off that.
Once Win8 is installed, you will need to install the Gsensor driver from acers site, and the Device Control app to turn on Bluetooth for the first time. (Windows will install the generic BT drivers but they are sorta wonky)
You will want to get the latest ATI Beta drivers (I like them at least) from guru3d.com (The 9.0.0 JUNE base drivers, not to be confused with the 12.X version naming), also the official Realtek drivers from their site (not the Acer ones) and the Atheros Bluetooth drivers from http://www.atheros.cz/ (Just get the DRIVER FILES ONLY download for your OS (x86/64). No need for anything outside of that. To install the BT drivers, just extract the files to a folder, and go into device manager and update all the bluetooth devices it shows by point them to the folder that has the extracted drivers. Once you do that you should be able to turn on and off the Bluetooth from the Wireless tab in Windows 8 Settings and you can delete the device control app from the system.
The Bluetooth remains a bit wonky, My guess because it isnt an official Win8 driver, but it does work for the most part. It may say it cannot turn off the BT on occasion but do it twice and then wait a second, it usually will get the radio disabled on the 2nd try lol.

i just installed the acer drivers for this tablet from acer's website, no issues with Bluetooth, rotation, graphics, audio ect. i think you just downloaded the wrong Bluetooth driver, just get the one from acer along with the device control app, it makes everything a whole lot simpler and it works like a charm, no hangs, drops, ect.

Hey dude. I had a W500 for some time, but sold it, but that's not my point.
Regarding the G-sensor fix, i figured out how to fix it.
What you need to install is:
G Sensor Driver
Auto Screen Rotation Blocker
HID Monitor for acer Ring
(From http://support.acer.com/product/default.aspx?modelId=3853)
If it doesn't rotate after this, try and find the HIDmonitor.exe file on your computer, then run it and try again.
I put the file in startup to make sure it always worked. And it did

Side note, my keyboard only pops up when I use the metro IE and touch a input box but not with the desktop IE. I have to press the keyboard icon on the taskbar for desktop browsing. Any one have any ideas why that'd be?

Hi guys,
i'm currently quite confused. My TV has a USB port that I can playback videos stored on a memory stick. This also worked with videos stored on micro sd card in my HTC Sensation when I plug the phone into my TV via USB.
However, when I plug in my Nexus 7, it can't find anything.
I tried it on a Sony N100 media player. Again nothing.
I then tried it on a WDTV Live. Again nothing.
I then plugged it into my laptop, went into the folder on my Nexus 7 where i store my movies, and clicked to play it on my laptop.
Instead of playing it, it began to copy the video file to somewhere on my laptop.
What is going on here? Is there anyway to get it to playback via USB connection onto a TV?
My Nexus 7 is unrooted, and am hoping for some kind of work around.
Whilst I primarily bought the tablet to watch programs on the train whilst commuting, I also wanted to be able to load some videos on it, take it to a friend's and play it back on their tv.
As it always worked fine on my android phone, I just assumed it would work on the Nexus 7.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks!

i'm currently quite confused.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks!

The Nexus 7 isn't a UMS device. Which means that when you plug it into something, it DOESN'T look like a USB flash drive (no FAT/FAT32/whatever filesystem). In order to access files on it, you'd need a host device that supports MTP (or PTP). Windows has this support built in, but I imagine most devices that don't run windows are lacking that ability. My MacBook won't even read files off of my N7 without "Android File Transfer" (and there's no MacFUSE driver available).

I take it that even rooting the N7 wouldn't help here then?

I remember seeing an advanced option in some CM9/10 builds on my Nexus S to enable UMS, but I can't comment as to whether that feature exists/works on the N7. I'm (shock!) running unrooted stock.
So I want to connect my V20 to my Macbook Pro running OSX Sierra, but I can't get LG Bridge to work, nor can I get any other software to recognize my phone... Anyone have any tips..?
Thanks..
I have woes too. I think my issues really are USB 3.0. I have tried on multiple computers but cannot get the phone to appear in the file explorer. The drivers install, ive tried reinstalling them from LG's website many times but no luck. I can get ADB access without any problem, and I can use a USB 2.0 port without problems - phone appears like it should to transfer files. But no go on USB 3.0. Maybe try a USB 2.0 port?
I don't know about the latest driver version for Mac, but once I update the driver to 4.2.0, USB 3.1 cable fully worked.
I have it updated on my laptop with Windows 10, and it can connect V20 in MTP.
I only managed to get my V20 connected to my mac in Twrp. I cannot get the MTP in the OS to work.
With OS X 10.11.6 on my MBP, using Android File Transfer and a USB 3.0 cable, I can see phone's internal storage only -- when changing to SD card, AFT crashes. With a USB 2.0 cable, I can see both internal and SD. It does sometimes take a couple of tries, and AFT does throw an error dialog.

Use www .android.com/filetransfer. Works on my 10.11.6 mac. You just have to change usb option to file transfer mode.
Thanks for the input guys...
It works fine at my end. Keep your lg bridge app updated.

My LG V20, 3 days old,
Tried every wireless option
to maybe transfer data of anything
on old Sam S4 - Nothing,, even though
V20 said it was connected to S4.
Next-
Try USB to MBP 10.11.6 -
with Android Transfer,, and select V20 to Transfer -
But it's only one direction.
I have 1 tune on the V20,,
when 1100 of partial load on MBP could be.
Went to LG home Site - It has no idea what V20 - or the model
number 5995 is,
Then States - Bridge can't be downloaded
to phone if not already.
It's not on my set.
But was able to download version to MBP'
So,,,
Here's pretty much where I throw in the towel,
and maybe jumped too quick on the V20
when I really wanted the Sony.
The issue is with the MBP upgrade!
I have the same issue on my MBP 2015 sierra 10.12.6 but not with my MBP 2011 with Yosemite 10.10.5 ? So where can we find is the solution / patch for the 2015 MBP with Sierra 1-.12.6?

Just discovered 12 hours ago.
( Syncios Data Transfer )
Transfer/Backup/Restore files between
Android and Mac - Software is roughly $60.00
Exploring its functions as we speak.
