The developers of XBMC have released a preliminary version for Android, and it works great on the Galaxy note. you can download the test build here. (http://dl.miniand.com/miniand/xbmc-android/xbmcapp-armeabi-v7a-debug-20120714.apk).
I have tried it on my note and it works great !

Confirming it works great... not responsive too s-pen thogh..
Missing the ability to lock screen like inn mx-player. Woud love to see that.

higher resolution videos stutter/lag a bit because it is software rendering ( hardware should be enabled by the time it gets to play staore) but I think it is a great start off the bat.

No hardware acceleration :S 1080p videos looks slow, even on the S3

It's an alpha. Nuff' said.

Getting audio bug today.. video playing bit no audio

Video Buffering

Video buffering sucks for me.
If I do a comparison of the same video from youtube aapp im my Samsung galaxy s and Iconia there is no comparison. Galaxy S is soooooooooo much faster!!! dual core? Where did you go!! I'm waiting for you.
Well in almost everything Sgs performs better than Iconia.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Come on? Noone else suffering from buffering issues????
It really annoys me...YouTube is practically useless like this.
Enviado desde mi A500 usando XDA Premium App
I've only noticed problems with streaming video from sources like Youtube or some imbedded clip when the clip is a link to the video and Android asks to open youtube or another app to view the stream. Then it does take forever to buffer up or sometimes doesn't start player at all. Is this what you're experiencing?
Otherwise, I'm not having much of a problem with video. I haven't done any really extensive testing though. The youtube site and App seems to work ok for me.

Best way to show off the S2 screen

Assuming you're on Windows 7 (or Vista), look for the 'Wildlife' video under Videos -> Sample Videos...Now play that on your Galaxy S2 for some serious AMOLED'gasm.
Will try it out, ty for the tip

Weird...It's just a 720p WMV file, played right away on my stock KJ2 player. Whatever custom ROM/video player you're running might not like WMV files, who knows.
Cyanogenmod and miui don't have Samsung media codecs, could be your problem if your running any of those roms.

MX video player plays everything.
Especially with Bravia engine.
Bravia engine?
Edit: Just seen some screenshots, it looks sharper, but I probably won't notice a difference unless put side by side.

Some say the Bravia engine does not work on SGS2 and the thread has been locked .
True test requires two phones side by side .
jje
Cant find it Somebody probably deleted it, since we share our Windows 7 laptop.
And I love showing of my Amoled beauty :'(

I found it on google searching "wildlife video sample windows 7"
Nice indeed :>
For those missing the Wildlife video, you can get it here:
http://www.archive.org/download/Windows7WildlifeSampleVideo/Wildlife.wmv
one another good video is big buck bunny with a 10min length. you can download it here http://www.divx.com/en/hd (on the right side). it is in 1080p
Sadly, only the stock (and stock-derived) ROMs can play these videos for now . It's choppy on everything else (CM7 in my instance).
My fren who own a iphone4 show off that he can lock his phone using a swipe gesture [email protected]@anyway thx for the tips^^
Take off your screen protector and shove the screen to whom your showing it too.
Nah really, look for a high def David Attenborough's wildlife video that your SGS II can playback and enjoy the jealousy of their face.
Looks really good!

Xbmc Android

Been mucking about with Xbmc for android on the s3 and although it's still a little buggy I reckon it has great potential.
One thing that's annoying me though is that I can get any scrapers to work. It searches for stuff i don't have and it's not the way folders are set up because they work fine on the pc. But I won't go into that just now.
Been using the wii remote to control it and it works pretty good but there's no keyboard.
Then I did a wee test with my dad's tablet, using that as the remote and it worked perfect. Bit draft me going out buying another android phone just to use as a remote though.
Just wondering what everyone else is using or if anyone has any ideas?
Cheers

I've got XBMC. Works quite well. I have the same aeon Skin as my desktop, something my Raspberry Pi couldn't handle. The only issue is in that skin, you need to press cursors to access certain menus and that is not working very well as I dont have cursors in the app. Other than that its fine though. All my movie and TV info is there.
I recently got the XBMC remote app. Thats great. Can scroll stuff without changing the display. Queue things up. Its actually much better than the hardware keyboard/remote I have, which awesomely since I have an S3, also works with XBMC for android
All in all, it needs some thought around control functions but other than that pretty neat. One thing I would like with the skin is 2x movies secti
ons via the skin rather than via the list. One for on VPN externally and one whilst local. That way I wouldnt have 2 of everything like I do now in the same folder

With xbmc I struggled to get h.264 decoded with any consistency. Sometimes had to reboot a few times. Just got it sorted after 2 weeks without an amp (which is why I used pi anyway) then replacement amp came
But back on topic, xbmc have some work to do but it'll be great on the s3

Last i played with xbmc on the S3 it doesnt hv gpu decoding. Is it still the case?

xbmc on droid x and cm9

cm9-dx-08192012.zip and xbmc nightly build xbmcapp-armeabi-v7a-debug-2012-10-02-no-neon-526d51b415582c71e3526022434fdf73c02acc0.apk
I was able to get bye the blank screen of death. connected to a dnla server and streamed media over wifi. The audio was choppy but it did bring a smile to see their making great progress. hope they keep up the great work!
I'll include the links.

A full-neon version may work better since the Droid X supports neon. Try it out and see if it gives any better performance.

performance was the same with neon. also, could not get even 1 high profile add-on to install properly. CM9 has been running solid. very impressed with it.

Slow Motion Video

Since its nearly Christmas, the child in me was reborn and I thought I'd play with the slow motion video features on my Note II and crash some toy cars.

Anyone else played with slowmo on their Note II?

Im recording my sister in slow mo and tellin her to waive her hand to me just to show her her wiggling fat near her armpits
Just about the most entertaining movie I've watched this Christmas... Which is a sad reflection on the entire movie industry!
Let's see some more... Arm fat wiggling could be the new Psy

Did you make that video using ONLY the Galaxy Note 2 or did you use some additional editing software?
I did a video of my dog jumping in slow motion.
(I'll post the link when I'm allowed (after 10 posts I think))
But I wasn't very pleased with the quality, and specially with the blur (ghosting) of the camera's software.
I'm still doing more tests. Stay tuned.
Here's the video mentioned above:
