SOLVED by somehow managing to get into recovery with 1% battery and flashing Red Lens Battery Fix
found under "Flashing Instructions" here (Like an idiot I didn't check.

OP:
I recently changed from Epsylon3's 14 July build to Quarx's latest and my battery is showing 100% constantly.
When on charge it still shows 100%, and last night it showed 40 then dropped to 10 and wouldn't charge.
Overnight it charged to 100% though and hasn't changed.
I've tried wiping battery stats and cache/dalvik but no change.

You must consider your self lucky! People make threads complaining that they don't get 100% battery stat ever. Your case is reverse.
Jokes apart, try caliberating and see.
S3nt fr0m my D3fy/w1u1 GB st4BL3
may be a victim of battery problem, may be battery has gone old and cannot hold charge
My battery has been completely fine until I flashed. Battery calibration doesn't do anything. There was a news post about it. All the battery stats hold is how much battery is use by apps (shown above).
I'm more concerned that I could have 20% and it shows 100 and my phone dies when I need it!

Seems to have resolved itself. I tested App2Zip from play market and now my phone is showing 50%. Disregard this topic now. Thanks
Edit: doesn't seem to be going below 50. Seems frozen unless I reboot?

Perhaps it's Quarx's build? I wonder if anyone else has this problem.
Don't let your phone die. Mine just did and now won't boot :|

but it was in a rasting state.. none of the apps have ran...
I have the same problem, mine is 30% to 19% it happens to me twice within a minute
sorry for my english
Did you try calibrate the battery once??
yes..
Battery drop/ not chargeable to 100% seems to be the only problem to Defy plus
I'm wondering if I should just buy a normal defy battery for my Defy+. No more need for battery fix

Download Battery calibration from the play store, charge your phone till 100% and then calibrate the batterty. The app erases the battery history (which is false and is the reason for such drops). And from there the history file is brand new and the drops will be over

This is an old problem with Defy battery and I was experiencing it some 10 months ago..
I tried all the tricks in the book and nothing solves it; I always (90% of the time) see a drop from 56% yo 49% (and sometimes another one around 25% to 21%).
At least three people (one being Walter79) said that it is a hardware issue and that they've fixed that with a new battery.
Hi, I need a new battery as mine is worn, I need to know if I buy a higher capacity battery (ie mugen or defy + battery, not fakes) on my green lense defy will it cause me issues? If I flash a defy + rom I lose camera as I am green, so can I safely use a higher capacity battery and still get a full charge out of it?

If the mugen is for MB525 then you need no fix.
For the Defy+ battery, I think you need to flash the battery fix that was going around in the Epsy CM threat (as he has no Defy+, he used the Defy batt and the Defy+ users had to flash a fix.)

Yes, so even though its a bigger capacity it will read right?

I won't vow but I thought the Defy+ battery works with the battery fix from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1795647
There were some that tried. It somewhere in the Q&A
The mugen 1700mah will work. It is a 3.7 lithium ion battery. Same as the MB525 (BF5X) one.
The one from the MB526 (HF5X) is a 3.8 lithium ion polymer battery.
The 'replacement' battery's from ebay with stated to work with Defy+ are all for Defy so a nogo for the Defy+ users.
I have just bought a Defy+ battery for my Defy (green lens). The problem is that you never know how much battery is left. It goes from 100% to 1% in a few hours and stays in that 1% until it is fully drained (10 hours or more).
For what I have read it is impossible to have green lens camera and the Defy+ battery working at the same time:
- If you use froyo kernel camera will work but the battery won't.
- If you use gingerbread kernel it will be the other way round.
So for now I prefer a working camera without knowing how much battery is left.
The only silver lining I have found is in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1627631). It is for the photon 4g but it might be possible to make it work in our Defy.
Weren't there defy+ users on froyo kernel? (By flashing the bl5 eclair or BL6 froyo)
Are you sure you have the right battd and lib?
But I don't know for sure of course because I don't own a defy+ nor battery.

I don't see why a Defy+ user would have a Froyo kernel, neither the camera nor the battery will work.
I have tried another battd/libbattd but it gives a question mark inside the battery meter.

Sucks.
Camera does work AFAIK.
They did it when CM9 began and epsy did a couple of defy only roms and some defy+ users couldn't wait.
And they can return to GB kernel just by flashing it in recovery.
Could be the battery doesn't work on froyo kernel. Sucks a bit for Green lens defy users.

There is no real fix for battery on red lens defy+. It might show you full charge but it will never go more than 4.15V and it used to be 4.35V in stock rom.
Have flashed many different ROMs but result is always the same: either no battery info at all (even no presentage) or "status unknown" and will not charge and stays on fixed battery presentage. With wall charger it shows just big exclamation mark on screen. Bought new battery, result is the same.
Tried already different battery fixes around forum, no luck so far - nothing seems to help.
Any ideas how to fix it?

Green lens 525 DEFY with Froyo kernel. It came probably with SBF 2.51 (Eclair) but due the mixup I updated to SBF 3.4.2 (Froyo) / Yes, I know bad move.
I would downgrade it if that would be possible to get it charging again but to my understanding there is no downgrade from Froyo to Eclair.
Try 2ndboot cm10 or cm9, or you can try the new quarx battd from the jb thread
Or you can try these fixes

Thanks, will attempt quarx battd next.
Those fixes you helpfully pointed out is path already taken and they did really nothing.
Tried so many ROMS and fixes without any success, some roms will not boot and some just show question mark. White rabbit/crazy Rabbit rom is closest what i ge tto success as this is only rom wich shows if phone is plugged in or not, but still "status unknown" and not charging.
Flashed back to original Motorola retail (2.2.2), result is same - battery status is unknown.
When plugging USB charger in its says: "Invalid battery. Your battery is invalid and can not be charged. Replace the battery with with an original Motorola battery." It happens with two different batterys the same way.
Searched over internet and seems that the very same problem is related also to different Motorola phones. It could be related to upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2.
Is there any way to go back to Eclair (2.1)?
If stock indicates battery issue, it's most likely a battery issue, not software. And you can't go back to éclair

I would otherwise agree with statement above but I bought new battery to test this very theory and result was exactly the same. So it has probably still something to do with kernel and SBF and how older kernel accesses data frob battery but can not figure out. Have searched over internet and seems that the very same issue plagues many Motorola phones and very often its firmware upgrade related.
Strange indeed... the reason I said that its hardware cuz you have tested it on 2ndboot ROMs and its not working... 2ndboot ROMs are kernel independent and don't have such issues by and large...

Funny thing is that 2ndboot itself has on top battery status and did actually know battery level and that it is currnety charging.
As soon as I boot up Android itself does not recognize it the same goes to swiched off phone. And with Crazy Rabbit ROM it even does understand that phone is plugged in
Sorry, but I could not get what you said happens on 2ndboot. Does it charge?Or unknown like others

I'm currently on Salad Bar ROM (4.1.2), it shows battery level on 2ndboot and if USB is plugged in or not.
After booted up still "unknown" (in settings > About phone > Status). Icon on top bar shows if power source is plugged in or not. Battery level rmains 1% and when unplugged icon will turn question mark.
I can boot phone to Android with my completely empty (0%) backup battery to though 2ndboot. Not sure if its show anything or not.
Possibly some hardware issue between the battery and the phone's mobo. I'd pay a visit to a service center (Motorola or not, doesn't matter if your phone is not under wrranty anymore) to get this checked.
I flashed my defy for the 100 time and this time my battery got stuck at 100%. I discharged it, and when charging it shows a '?' where % should be.
It always show at 100% at the notification bar.
Do i have to wipe anything, flash anything? I really have no idea.
I'm running quarx CM10 4.1.2 2ndboot, and i own a defy green lens. Also, i flashed touchwizz add-on, if that matters...
thanks
So, i've got news. the phone will only boot if connected to the charger. If i remove the charger, it dies. I still could access the recovery and wipe everything and flash clean 4.1.2 from quarx (2nd boot, cm10)
Im kinda freaking out now.

I wish I could provide an accurate answer to how I fixed it.
Since I used my Moto Bravo to charge the battery and then continued flashing sbf and then cm10, I don't particularly know what fixed it.
Good luck :/
Hi!
My device shows a different battery percentage when I'm in the bootmenu or booted up into the OS. For instance when the OS warns me to charge the batt., because it's on 1%, the Bootmenu shows <30%.
I TRIED WIPING BATTERY STATS, BUT NOTHING.
Please help, because it's so annoying!!!
Somebody?....................Anybody?...................
According to my knowledge Recovery uses battery voltage to calculate percentage.
Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2
OS display what batt stat give to it with a modified to 1% precision.
So what should I do with it?
Well, if it's happen because of difference voltage messuring method between OS-bootmenu, then I don't think there're any fix.
And why bother? You won't stay in bootmenu so long, right?
You should just ignore bootmenu's batt and care if your OS batt is correctly configured.

I just can't ignore it, because it drops the battery so quick and when it drains to 1% it stays there in full load for about an hour. I tried to calibrate it and wipe battery stats, even changing battd file from MB525 to MB526 but it's still the same as at the beginning
What battery you're using, 1500 or 1700mAh?
I'm using an aftermarket 1500mAh battery.
Ok, then you should revert your battd back to MB525.
What's rom you're using? If anything I'd try a stable rom like MS2ginger (with the right patch for the lens and no touching defy+ batt patch).
To see if this happens over roms.
I'm using Quarx's CM10. Can you send me a proper link for green lens defy???
While using CM10, have you already fix your battd with this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1241322&d=1344093287
It's from CM10 FAQs http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1795647 "New Battery Fix" to fix for defy 1500mAh battery
(since CM10 default battd files are for Defy+, if I'm not mistaken.)
I used this for my Defy with Momax 1500mAh and no problem with batt % while in OS.
It seems to be successful. I flashed the .zip and my battery on the diagram jumped from 20% to 60% I did it about 2 hours ago and I have no battery drops, so I think it solved my problem
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I REALLY APPRECHIATE YOUR HELP!!!
