[Q] nandroid restore data between 2 different ROM - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

is it safe to restore data from e.g. rocket rom v7 back up,
after i full wipe and flash e.g. kingdroid?

Anyone know?

Chances are higher if both ROMs are the same built, i.e. from LRG to LRG. The problems mostly come from system data. So be extra careful in porting them between ROMs.

Thx!

Titanium Backup works great to backup/restore apps with data.

Agreed, and if you have pro, they it is a button press, and walk away.

Sometimes. Just don't wipe data before flashing it (depending on how it's packaged, some ROMs will wipe it when you flash). Of course, not wiping data can lead to a variety of hard to track down problems, so that's why it's generally always recommended.

How to get back to stock kernal

Hi iv been on a custom kernal for a while now and want to go back to stock... only the kernel is custom. The rom is stock
I can restore my old backup but ill lose too much stuff. Is there anyway just to install the original kernal to make it all stock?

As long as you wipe only what I told you everything will be exactly the same except you will be on the stock kernel. You may need to update some apps in the market, but the data will still be there

That must be LR8 4.0.4
I have updated 2 days back on my stock ROM thread.
Qazi have u rooted ur gt-n7000.....if yes then which is the safe method
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Yes dr.ketan its LR8.
yes i have rooted my phone but it has the stock rom and kernel thats why i was able to get the update over the air. If u are already on custom rom then u should download the stock rom from dr.ketans rom page and flash it with clockworkmod recovery.

Stock ROM need to flash using Odin (PC/Mobile), it can't be flash with CWM.
Anyway LR8 is pack with new launcher and feature like LRQ or it having same old launcher?
Tw is the same. Popup play is added and signature unlock. The stock keyboard layout is slightly changed with a new button added for attatchments. The touch button at the right has a little different layout. Besides that everything is the same. Battery life is slightly decreased. I dont know if its coz my phone is 6 month old and battery is aged.

Dr.ketan i remember i once flashed the stock GB rom with cwm on ics stunner rom.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Stock rom comes in. tar
Cwm supports zip only, fundamentally its not possible.

Thanks. I just used a few custom roma, like alba, criskelo ,cm9 and ics stunner. Since official ics came out i am using it. Dr.ketan i am unable to install cwm since 4.0.4. I have the cwm rom manager but itals not installing the cwm.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
CWM manager won't work on Note.
You need to flash custom kernel to get CWM
Hydracore and speedmod are known custom kernel for ICS
Thanks

Yes. It is, provided there's enough space on your sd card. And you can restore any backup anytime you want. I myself have 5 backups.

First just flash newer gapps (search on google to get a download link)
If that doesn't work then wipe and restore
Sent from my GT-I9500 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
U sure? because I am on stock rom

Gapps are google applications. So flashing the latest version of gapps will make sure that all the google applications are fine.
I consider data precious so wipe and reset is the last option I prefer as making and restoring backup takes hell lot of time
